I love this series and I was so lucky that I got a copy through NetGalley in exchange for a review, which I am happy to provide. Since this is the 6th book I would recommend you read them in order, just so you can get a feel for all Verity and Ellis have been through. The Author does do a good job of giving you some backstory so you could definitely enjoy the story without getting too lost. There was plenty of action in the real and ghost world, romance, mystery and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Lets just say I might have neglected some of my work just in order to devoured this book since it was really hard to put down. I can't wait to see what will happen next.

I love this series, but this one reminded me a bit of Agatha Christie's murder on the orient express. We see Beau and Vergenia in a total different light. I love Frankie more and more in each book.

All Verity and Ellis ( Frankie and Molly included because Verity took Frankie's urn with, she didn't want Frankie to turn her backyard into a racing track again. ) wanted was a romantic getaway. They got their getaway weekend Allright. But not the one they planned. Like usual Verity stumbles across murder and chaos. While Frankie got more of the romantic getaway he wanted for Molly. Frankie and Verity needs to solve 2 murders. Verity in real time and Frankie plays detective on the ghost plane just to impress Molly.

Beau confesses something to Verity. And Vergenia accepts Verity a bit more.

Verity is a ghost hunter with a desperate need for a vacation (away from Frankie a ghost she lives with, and the nosey towns folk) with her boyfriend Ellis. Ellis happens to be the brother of her ex boyfriend Beau. This in itself causes problems. When Verity gets the opportunity to take a vacation on a vintage train for a couple of days, she is excited to be getting away. She tells herself no ghosts hunting or solving their ghostly mysteries, however Frankie convinces Verity to take him along with her and this opens the gate into the ghosts world. Verity finds herself trying to solve a murder that happened on the original train more than a century ago, and if she is not quick enough to solve it, her life too will be in danger, as the tragic events that occurred all those years ago are starting to again unfold.

This was book 6 of the series. I had not read any of the other books, however it was easy enough to follow along with the characters and understand what had happened in the past to lead them to where they were currently. It appears that each book has a different story, but the same characters that the story builds on. I found the book enjoyable and I am interested in reading the other books in the series.

I like the humour within the book and I found the ghost Frankie that lives with Verity quite entertaining. If you like ghost hunters and ghost stories I think you will like this. It had the flavour of Murder on the Orient Express and I think the author used what she knew of that book and made this story her own. It did take me a few chapters to warm to the story, but then I was hooked. Had good mystery, suspense and intrigue, and I wasn't sure who was behind the murder until the end.

Thanks to NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I've been a fan of this series from the beginning, and I love times like these when I find them on Net Galley and can get an ARC. This series is just fun. Verity takes a licking and keeps on ticking. She is constantly struggling and getting hit with more bad news. Just as things are looking up, and she and Ellis have a fun train ride planned for just the two of them, their plans are derailed by interfering family and ghosts...not to mention a murder. It's a crazy ghostly adventure as always.

Ellis remains a favorite of mine, and even Beau showed some redeeming qualities. I'm ready for the next book and to see Verity and Ellis even more serious.

The Southern Spirits Ghost Hunter Series is one of my favorite series of all time and Murder of the Sugarland Express was another hit.

Verity, Ellis, Lucy (the skunk), Frankie & many other favorite characters are back for another great story. And we get to know Verity's almost (maybe soon to be again) mother-in-law & her ex better

This book takes Verity & Ellis on a weekend getaway & the fun starts before they even leave Sugarland!

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Loved! This is another winner in the Southern Spirits Ghost Hunter Series. In this novel, Ellis whisks Verity away for a quiet and historical trip on the Sugarland Express's maiden voyage after being rebuilt. The original Sugarland Express was destroyed many years ago on it's maiden voyage. However, Frankie, Verity's resident ghost won't allow her to leave him behind, so before even boarding the train, Verity is being warned of disaster by the ghost conductor. What follows is a fun murder mystery/who done it that fans of the genre will love.

I love Verity and her story....despite how offbeat it is the author made me feel connected to her character and rooting for her. She has had many setbacks in her life - most revolving around the Wydell family - and I enjoyed reading about how those relationships have progressed.

While this is a stand alone novel, you really owe it to yourself to read them all.

Verity Long is at it again in Murder on the Sugarland Express, the 6th book in the Southern Ghost Hunter Mystery Series.
Nothing screams romance more than a quiet train ride with the love of your life. This is exactly what Verity is looking forward to, unfortunately her plans and hopes go awry when her ghost nemesis Frankie the German tags along. If having Frankie along isn't enough to set Verity on edge, having her ex boyfriend on board the train will surely cause her to go nuts, especially since Beau is her current loves brother! Add mom into the mix and you have yourself a setting for disaster.
What Verity isn't expecting is to stumble upon another murder , complete with other ghosts that do not seem to approve of the living.

Cozy readers will enjoy this paranormal cozy mystery complete with laugh out loud moments.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read an ARC of this story.

Murder on the Sugarland Express (Southern Ghost Hunter Mysteries, #6) is now my favorite story in the series.

It was nice to see Verity finally receive the apology she deserved from Book 1. Too bad it was in private and not in public as the humiliation was.

Ellis and Verity make such a great team, I hope that they have many more adventures in the future.

Once again, Lucy made me smile. We need more scenes with this lovable character. Maybe she'll find love in the next book, especially since a new skunk may be moving to Sugarland in the future.

I received a free, advance copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for my unbiased review.

Seriously love both Angie Fox and her character Verity. Well written, developed and enjoyable story that puts a twist on the typical romantic getaway trip - by Train with a 1920s mystery! Frankie and his antics always keep you laughing along the way which keeps me coming back for more. A read and series I'd recommend to anyone.

Picture Verity and Ellis alone on a peaceful, romantic train trip. Can't, can you? Of course you can't, because nothing around Verity is ever peaceful. So picture Verity and Ellis surrounded by all sorts of people and ghosts on a chaotic, dangerous train trip. Now you're there. And so are they, with nothing to do but solve the murders--past and present--and save the train and everyone living and dead on it.

Spoilers: <spoiler>On a character note, I really liked Verity and her mother-in-law as reluctant allies aka the only two people on this entire train who can Get Stuff Done. I also really liked her conversations with Beau and how she may feel sorry for him but that absolutely does not change her feelings about what he did. Verity is great.</spoiler>

Murder on the Sugarland Express by Angie Fox is the sixth installment in The Southern Ghost Hunter Mysteries. Verity Long feels the need to escape Sugarland, Tennessee after an incident with her ex-fiancé, Beau Wydell at the soft opening of Southern Spirits. Ellis Wydell, Verity’s boyfriend, books them on a trip on the Sugarland Express. Verity is hoping for a break from mysteries and ghosts while on the trip. Unfortunately, Frankie (her resident ghost) believes it will be the perfect romantic getaway for himself and his girl, Molly. Verity soon learns that the train has a dark history attached to it (and some unwelcome guests in the cabin next door). As the bell rings on the Sugarland Express, the old ghosts are being called back. The original train experienced a murder before a bridge collapsed and plunged the train into the icy river. Inspector De Clercq (a ghostly detective) is intent on solving the original crime. It is soon apparent that the Sugarland Express is following in the original trains footsteps (so to speak). A woman is found murdered in compartment 9 in the exact same spot as the original murder. Verity, Ellis and some unlikely allies set out to catch two killers—one past and one present. Will the train make it back to Sugarland or will it suffer a similar fate to its predecessor?

Murder on the Sugarland Express can be read alone. I found the story to be well-written, have a decent pace and enjoyable to read. I did find, though, there to be some repetition of details (and a couple of slow spots). A little fine tuning would not go amiss. Murder on the Sugarland Express has humor, intrigue, romance, ghosts, a cute skunk, and plenty of action. I loved the descriptions of the train (I found out something I never knew about the caboose). What mystery lover would not love to take a ride on a replica of a vintage train (especially one with ghosts and a mystery)? The mysteries were engaging with great details. I especially liked two clues on the vintage (1929) murder. I had hoped that the mysteries would be more challenging. It would delightful to finally see growth in Virginia and Beau Wydell (it’s about time). Whether it sticks or not remains to be seen. Readers will be entertained with Frankie’s hijinks. At the end of the book we get a hint of what to come in the next book.

In a fun tribute to Agatha Christie’s Murder on the Orient Express, the author places her lovable heroine, Verity Long, irascible gangster ghost hero, Frankie, and Verity’s stalwart boyfriend Ellis on a restored old steam train on which an unsolved murder occurred many years before.

I enjoyed how Verity has really come into her own when it comes to the existence of ghosts and her talent for solving crimes, ghostly or otherwise. She’s grown confident and independent though still a softy for helping others. And, in this installment, she and Ellis prove that they are a solid couple when his brother who is also her ex was attempting to stir up trouble for them and Frankie is up to his antics that disrupt the couple’s vacation. Adults in a relationship acting mature? Oh yes!

The mystery had echoes of the famous Christie story, but only so far as the murder happened on an isolated old train with all the suspects trapped together, no obvious motive, and a locked door mystery. Most of the story was just a great Southern Ghost Hunter adventure with some good twists to keep the reader guessing. How could I resist a mystery set on an elegant steam train journey through the mountains?

All in all, this latest installment of the series was a delight from cover to cover that was a light and easy read that I quickly devoured. Paranormal cozy mystery fans should not miss this series.

I found this to be such a fun modern read ! I also loved Agatha Christie when I was growing up, so to read something similar to those books was so much fun ! I loved the twist with the ghosts and how a murder from 1929 not only happened in the ghostly plane world but also in modern day life. Many twist and turns keeps you guessing The Who done it question!

The book opens with Verity Long celebrating the opening of her boyfriend Ellis' restaurant. Too bad the picture the local paper uses is one of her... in his brother's (her ex) arms. They decide to take a break on the recently re-started Sugarland Express. Frankie (the mobster ghost that Verity connects with) decides that he wants to go along and brings his sweetheart with them. Too bad the ghosts of the people who died on the original Sugarland Express are still on board and at least one is warning Verity that murder is going to happen again.

I liked this book for the way it moved Verity's relationships forward; with Ellis, his brother Beau, and their mother Virginia. The story itself... parts seemed to try to capitalize on <i>Murder on the Orient Express</i> (murder on a train, woman in a kimono) but don't connect and this was one of those books with not a lot going on in the first 3/4 of the book and then a dump of info at the end.

Great writing style!
Love how the author wraps up the introduction to the story in a fun fast way. This is the sixth installment of this series and you can catch up and get to know the characters without missing anything.
The story is complex and well developed. We get two mysteries to solve and enjoy a funny ride with Verity Long, Frankie the German and the whole Wydell family.
Filled with Southern charm, this is a must read paranormal-cozy-mystery.

This is a great book; this is the sixth book in the Southern Ghost Hunter Mystery Series written by Angie Fox. This book can be read as a standalone, but once you read it you will defiantly want to go back and catch up with the other book in this series. Verity Long is overdue for a little R&R (rest and romance) with her boyfriend Ellis, and a vintage train trip through the Tennessee mountains seems like just the ticket. The Sugarland Express carries history and nostalgia in every compartment, and Verity is determined to enjoy it without ghostly interference. But the ghosts have other plans. On a dark, desolate night nearly a century ago, the train was stranded in the mountains and a young woman was found stabbed to death in her locked compartment. The murder was never solved, and a ghostly Belgian detective is still pursuing the case from the grave. To Verity’s dismay, all of the ghostly suspects are back. And when history repeats itself and a new murder mirrors the old, it’s up to Verity and her friends to discover which of the passengers dead or alive could be behind the murders before the killer strikes again. This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. This book will keep you reading long into the night. If you are looking for a great book, then you need to read this book. I am looking forward to reading the next book by this great author. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader’s copy of this book. The free book held no determination on my personal review.

In this new installment of The Southern Ghost Hunter Mysteries, Verity and Ellis just want to get away from it all and enjoy a few days together on the Sugarland Express without ghosts or his family. Of course, this is not the peaceful, relaxing trip they were hoping for, Frankie and Molly come along for the ride as well as Ellis' brother and mother. Angie Fox does not disappoint, I enjoyed this fast paced mystery. from the start. Frankie is always up to something and provides many laughs along the way. I can't wait on the next book in this series.

Normally I breeze right through these and they are funny and great. This one took me a little longer and had some lulls in it. I still love this series and will continue to read it. I love Verity and friends.

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

ARC - I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest!
This was supposed to be a romantic getaway.
Now Verity + Ellis are trapped on the train w/ his mother, his brother, and the murderer.
They have to solve the murder, before another passenger is murder
It is similar to "Murder on the Orient Express" by Agatha Christie.
Of course, Frankie is there trying to woo Molly w/ a romantic gateway as well.
I loved storytelling + the characters!
