A Traitor in their Midst
I received an advanced reader copy of this book via NetGalley. Upfront, Patricia Briggs is one of my favorite authors, so I knew I'd love this... I was not disappointed! This book continues the series centered on Bran's son, Charles Cornick and his mate/wife, Anna. While the story was about Charles and Anna, it was so much more! This book broadened our view of Bran, the Marrok (leader of all the Werewolves) of North and South America, it mainly took place in Montana in the pack's territory there. Among the members of Bran's pack, are all the damaged, sick, and insane werewolves that cannot live in normal society. Most of them live in remote parts of the pack's territory, where they can do no harm to themselves or others. Two of the Wildlings, Hester and her fae mate, Jonesy die early in the book, after Hester is captured by militant outside werewolves and humans. It is determined that their must be a traitor. Since Bran is away, on "vacation," Charles is in charge. This is complicated by his unfriendly relationship with he stepmother, Bran's wife, Leah. In the course of the investigation, which involves insane weres, witchcraft, and trials to the relationships within Bran's pack, we learn more about Brigg's amazing characters. The plot had unexpected twists and turns, but it was ultimately resolved with satisfaction and new questions to be answered in future novels.

I love this series and was so excited to read another Anna and Charles book. It took some time to get going and at times I was tempted to put it down during the first half. Luckily it picked up in the second part of the book filled with action and unexpected occurrences. At time those occurrences were a little too complicated to my liking, but it seems like Briggs is setting up a new arch in the series. Overall a solid, 3.5 read.

Burn Bright by Patricia Briggs is part of the Alpha & Omega series. Anna & Charles are a mated pair. Charles is left in charge of the pack while his Father is away. Theres a trader in there pack. Its up to Charles to take care of it. Great addition to the series. Highly recommend anything by this author!!!

Patricia Briggs' world is well fleshed out with intriguing characters and it's not only great to "visit" with them again but also to meet more of them! Charles and Anna are solid together and the satisfaction of their relationship being good is one of the gems of this book. Meeting more of Bran's wildlings, finding out more about the overarching conflict that's been mostly hidden through out any number of this world's books, and seeing the changes in the relationships between Leah and Bran and Charles is another. If you like Briggs work, don't walk, run to the bookstore. If you're just starting to read her, don't start here.

Charles's and Anna return in the Alpha and Omega series. This time the action takes place on the Marrock's lands when Bran is away and his Wildings are targeted by unknown enemies and an internal traitor. ARC from NetGalley.

Full review to be published online in early March, 2018.

BURN BRIGHT is the fifth book in Patricia Briggs “Alpha and Omega” series, which I honestly prefer to her (also good) ‘Mercy Thompson’ series. I find Charles and Anna to be more interesting and well rounded characters. This addition to the series is satisfying blend of mystery, danger, and character development. There are many subplots in this story, some gathered in for immediate use, some trailing questions left out for future books. I enjoyed the glimpses into pack life; and many familiar characters managed to grow and surprise me.

BURN BRIGHT is a very well written Urban Fantasy story; with a plotline that fits smoothly into the flow of Charles’ and Anna’s life. Lots of goodies here for the regular readers of the series.

It's been a while since our last Charles and Anna adventure... It was worth it. I think this is my favorite of their books to date. We see all our favorite characters, have an interesting plot that ties into the Mercedes Thompson future plot lines and see some growth and development across the board. Loved it. If you haven't read any of the Alpha and Omega series or the Mercedes Thompson series yet, do yourself a favor and go read them immediately. They're fantastic and they only get better.

Best Alpha & Omega book yet!! All my favorite characters and the introduction of a few new ones. Tons of twists and turns and loved the inclusion of the Wildlings. And we got to know Leah better. Very Interesting!! Fantastic book!!

Anna and Charles' fifth book in the Alpha and Omega story takes us back to Aspen Creek, Montana where Bran's dysfunctional pack lives. Charles has been left in charge while Bran went to help save Mercy (Silence Fallen), when a call comes in from one of the wildlings. The most broken of the werewovles under Bran's protection, live isolated in the wilds of Montana, with only one or two people ever making contact with them. Anna and Charles must now see what would make one of these dangerous, isolated wolves call for help. As the mystery unfolds and Bran is still a no show the going gets hot and these two must work together to uncover a traitor, save the wildlings, and ultimately each other.

It was great seeing Anna get a chance to explore her Omega gifts. We also got more insight into Bran's mate, Leah, since she's not anyone's favorite she's only really mentioned in passing. With Bran not taking up a lot of the interactions, seeing more of some of the sub-characters was awesome. Also, getting more of the history that all of the really old wolves have lived through was cool too. An all around fun read, even though the Mercy series is still my favorite!

This is one of the best additions to the Alpha and Omega series by Patricia Briggs. This book is so poetic and thought-provoking. The storyline was complex and kept me guessing. The characters of Anna and Charles grew and developed, but so did other characters who I thought had been too often ignored; particularly Leah. This is such an amazing book; I am so glad that Patricia Briggs brings such wonderful, humorous, fantastical stories into the world.

I have read Patricia Briggs' novels for years and her stories are sill fresh and interesting. When I first read Anna and Charles' story it was not my favorite but I have come to love them. This book in particular was excellent. It did a great job at wrapping up certain parts of the story arc whilst also fleshing out other new parts. I thoroughly enjoyed it and cannot wait to read the next installment. I am reviewing this book based on an ARC received from NetGalley in exchange for an honest opinion.
