Saddle up and get ready for adventure and romance with the Company B Texas Rangers!
Set in 1866, Hartville, Texas, a town settled by the Hart family, introduced in the delightful collection, Seven Brides for Seven Texans. The Hart brothers and other characters pop in and out of the stories, but this book has a colorful cast all of its own, centered on the brave, chivalrous and loyal Texas Rangers who have come to bring in the terrible Markham gang once and for all. They are like the knights of old, or a band of brothers as they work together bringing justice. The stories all build on the previous one, making it feel like a full length novel, complete with a nice wrap up at the end. I thoroughly enjoyed them all!

"Courage was feeling the fear yet choosing to act."
Full of action, adventure, and tender romance, each story has a dangerous brush with the gang putting a ranger and a lady in peril. The women in these stories rise to the occasion, and are a real variety, from a young widow and her son, a former 'soiled dove', to women in business, and former loves. They have a strength and fortitude all their own, sometimes complicating the situations with their own plans. The faith of some brings inspiration, as they quote Scripture and pray for help and courage when in danger. "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear." Psalm 46:1,2

A thoroughly enjoyable collection, sure to delight readers who enjoy clean western adventure romances.

I love when a publishers offers books like these, with various authors. It is a great way to sample one that you are not familiar with. Many of these authors I have already read and really enjoy, but there were a few that were new. I loved that these novellas were short but entertaining. For me, the authors gave me a little of everything. They were sweet, clean, funny and sometimes sad. Amanda Barratt's, Jesse's Sparrow covered a topic that is still a terrible problem today, human trafficking and enslavement. I like reading the details at the end of the book. When the author's comments tells us where they got their idea, or what part is true to history. Please read Amanda's notes at the end of her novella. Here is just a short excerpt.
“According to the International Justice Mission, an estimated forty-five million people are trapped in various forms of slavery, be it forced labor in quarries or mines in India or prostitution in the United States. The reality of these facts breaks my heart. And I know it breaks our Lord's too, a Father who values each and every one of us, regardless of the worth assigned to us by the world.” “And it's because of this, that I'm donating a portion of the proceeds from my novella to this cause.”
I liked that each other tried to tie these stories together. Even in such a short time they tried to develop their characters. It left me wanting more, in a good way. What I loved: My favorite part of this type of collections is the deep connection between each story. Instead of seven completely different stories, it feels like one overarching story when you get a peek at each swoon-worthy hero. And who doesn't swoon over men whose duty in life is to protect and serve? Each hero is depicted with his own quirks and individual personality, but they all have the common thread of a commitment that goes beyond the standard citizen.

I also LOVED how this book was set in the same place as Seven Brides for Seven Texans. Characters from past books reappeared and you got to see bits and pieces of the Hart brothers all over again. Books that connect and series that connect in this way are my absolute favorite.

Favorite Story: While all seven stories are good, my absolute favorite was The Countess and the Cowboy by Kathleen Y’Barbo. (And actually I have changed this at least twice, so you know the stories are good.) I loved how the heroine was a determined spitfire and not one to just standby... which also leads to heaps of trouble. Ezra is a great hero with a soft heart.

Who would like this: Anyone who loves historical stories with strong heroes, heroes whose profession is a lawman, heroines who range from stubborn to docile, and dangerous situations that bring couples together. Those who especially like connected storylines will love this.

Rating and Why: I give this story 5 stars. If you haven't figured it out, the connectedness of all the stories really bumps the rating up. However, the action, dialogue, and characters are all excellent. Some stories are better than others, but I can't think of one that I did not enjoy, and usually, in a collection, there is one that I am meh on.

This was a cute, fun read about the days when outlaws threatened and the rangers protected the frontier. I enjoyed this book; although, it did leave me wishing for more as the plots were so fast paced. The authors did try to give some character development and try to tie the stories together even in the shortened space of their novellas. Great for when you need a fun escape.

These novellas are all top-notch! As a busy mom, I love that I can steal away for an hour of quiet time and finish a story. As a reader, I love that they are good stories! These are all sweet love stories with a group of Texas Rangers (love Texas Ranger stories), and they are all tied together with some common things. Love this collection from some of my favorite authors.

Great collection of novellas about Texas Rangers. These were a breed apart, men who upheld the law all over the great state of Texas. Perfect read for a slow day or vacation . Or just anytime. None are very long and they are so sweet. My favorite was Amanda Barratt's contribution. But all are good!

This was a fun read. Kind of far fetched as each Texas Ranger fell in love almost overnight. These Texas Rangers were the best shots and just about the best of everything.

How do you create a wonderful collection? Easy... Barbour Books took seven talented authors got them to add just enough sweetness, love, danger, compelling heroes and heroines and the result is an amazing page turner

Barbour books has taken a bit of a turn with this particular novella collection. All of the stories include the same characters, the same plot line, and the same villains. Seven young Texas Rangers have been transferred to Hartville with the task of capturing the Cass Markham gang who have been terrorizing the area.

The captain of the group is recently married and his wife is anxious that all of the rangers in his command also find the joys of marriage, and therefore makes it her mission to match them all up. Each ranger finds himself in the company of a woman who is his heart-match, and through the machinations of the Markham gang, finds the woman in trouble and it takes all of his best tricks to rescue her and capture the gang.

As it works out, the gang is captured one by one as the rangers fall one by one to a woman's charms. Because each novella ties into the previous one and into the story as a whole, it is really better than most collections like this.

Five Stars, Two Thumbs Up, and a Texas Ranger to come to your rescue.

My thanks to Barbour Books for allowing me to read and review this book.
