I love Bob Goff. Everything he says, does, and writes. After recently reading Love Does, I was so excited to see he had written a new book. I could hardly put this one down. Bob's approach to life becomes addicting and inspires the reader to take on some of his characteristics. Love this book, highly recommend!

I was so thankful to receive a copy of this book in exchange for a review. Bob Goff is one of my favorite Christian authors and he never disappoints. I love how he is open and honest about his struggles in loving everyone, always. He has an amazing sense of humor I admire and always make me question where I'm at in my own journey. This book is for everyone Christian faith or not. It teaches you that the only limits to love are the ones we place on ourselves.

Thank you to netgalley for the ARC.
The book is inspiring, uplifting, challenging and thought provoking. It’s easy yet well written. The stories are interesting and all about love and how to love, always. My very first book by Bob Goff, and it won’t be my last. I’ll have to read Love Does next.

You will laugh and you will cry. You will want to stuff your purse with medals, to pin on people's jacket. You will carry around an empty bucket and want to pass out balloons for no reason other than balloons make people smile. You will never want to send another call to voicemail, and you may even start making eye contact with every person you pass. This book will make you want to strive to be a better human. This book will change you.

Does loving others come naturally to you? To be honest, it doesn’t come easily for me. But Bob Goff’s newest book, Everybody Always, is showing me ways to let go, embrace God’s will, and love differently.

Bob is a gifted storyteller with a zest for life and a giant heart for people. I enjoyed his first book Love Does, and Everybody, Always is even better, in my opinion. Keep reading to learn how this book can revolutionize the ways you love others.

Stories of Loving Others in Epic Ways
Bob Goff is one of those rare, larger-than-life people. He’s a lawyer, activist, ambassador, and skydiver. Has an “office” in Disneyland, of all places. Funny and smart, playful and winsome. I imagine he’s the energy source of every party he attends.

I’m SO opposite from him! I’m the observer, the one who is quiet and standoffish at parties. The classic introvert who adores working from home in total peace and quiet. I don’t typically strike up conversation with strangers. Different though we may be, Bob’s stories inspired me because he unveils God’s truth rather than his own.

His stories have staying power. It’s been over a week since I read the book, and I can still instantly recall the stories of his jumping out of a plane with his son, inviting a humble airport inspector over for Christmas dinner, carrying a bucket around to grow in patience, and working to reform the worst witch doctor in Uganda. Colorful, engaging stories that will hook you and teach you new truths.

One Powerful Story about Loving Others
Here’s one story that seared itself into my heart. He decided to show love to a limo driver in Orlando. Bob struck up a lively conversation with this man in an overlooked position, then actually switched places with him so the driver could enjoy his own limo ride. They had a blast together, because Bob decided to love this guy the way Jesus would. At the end of the ride, Bob pinned a medal on the driver and said, “You’re brave. You’re courageous.”

This next quote stopped me in my tracks:

“When the limo driver went home that night to the woman he’s been living with for the past ten years, do you think he told her he’d met a Christian guy that day who told him he was supposed to be married? Of course not! I bet he told her he’d met a guy who told him who he was.”

How many times have I judged others, whether silently or out loud, because they were different from me? How often have I held people at arm’s length due to fear and self-protection? I need to trust that if Jesus commands me to love others the way He loves them, He will provide the means for me to do it. He will teach me how to love in epic ways, just as He has taught Bob Goff.

Honest and Thoughtful Look at Loving Others
Bob’s book is entertaining; I belly-laughed several times. Yet the spiritual truths kept me reading Everybody, Always straight through. I really want to do a better job of loving others, because I want to follow God’s will. Bob’s humorous, self-effacing examples give me much to consider.

For the past month, I’ve been writing posts about setting boundaries. I’ve been focused on the truth side of the equation. You can’t have love without truth, and I’m so thankful Bob acknowledges this in the very first chapter. He writes:

“Are there people you should give a wide berth to? You bet. There are people in my life and yours who are unsafe, toxic, and delight in sowing discord wherever they go. God gave us discernment, and we should use it as we live our lives. He’s also given us love and understanding and kindness and the ability to forgive, which have power we often leave untapped.”

The main point of this book is to stop withholding love when it is in our power to give it. We need to keep our eyes open every day for ways to “become love” to other people.

The author has good insight and illustrations but he wanders off too often. I wish he would have eliminated his wanderings. I did love the last part of the book where he talked about what God' is using him to do in Uganda.

I received this book free from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review.

Everybody Always extends the theme of Goff’s first book, Love Does. We might ask ourselves how we as Christians should love others. His answer might surprise you (even though Jesus already told us the same thing in the Bible). Sure, we need to read our Bibles and apply what we learn in our lives—that’s how we get to know Jesus. But, according to Goff, “He [Jesus] also wants us to meet Him by loving the people who are difficult to get along with.”

I have some people like that in my life, and I confess that I do a better job at avoiding them than loving them. But by avoiding them, I lose out on an opportunity to grow my faith. “The people who creep us out aren’t obstacles to having faith; they’re opportunities to understand our faith.”

I get involved in plan making and creating short-term and long-term goals. Sometimes, I accomplish those goals and other times they cripple me. But Goff reminds us that we don’t need to wait for the perfect timing to love people. “Simply put, we can stop waiting for a plan and just go love everybody.”

Another truth that punched me in the solar plexus of my brain (sometimes, we need that kind of a jolt)? I don’t need to pick and choose my neighbors. “He made a whole world of neighbors. We call it earth, but god just calls it a really big neighborhood.” The people I smile at, hold doors open for, and meet at the checkout line at the local Safeway—those people belong to my neighborhood. I confess that I don’t know any of them very well. Goff shows us how we can make life-long friends just three minutes at a time. I started this weekend when I finished the book.

Lest I give away the whole book, you should probably just go out and buy your own copy. Although, really, it’s just a bunch of stories about Goff’s journey to become love. He tells his stories much better than I can. Suffice it to say, I highlighted half the book so I can go over passages again and again to remind me that even I, a closet legalist, can learn to love everybody always.

"Trees grow where they are planted; people grow where they are loved and accepted." - Bob Goff

Wow, Bob Goff has really done it again. I received Bob's first book, Love Does, from a coworker in graduate school and was blown away by the joy, fun and honesty of the book and Bob's writing style. Well, he has made magic again, and I am not even a little surprised. Everybody Always is a beautiful novel filled with meaningful stories that are so easy to relate to and really drive home the idea of what love is and could be. Bob is a joy to follow on these stories too. He is witty, raw, and captivates you with his unique storytelling style and really spreads the message of loving everybody always.

Everybody Always can be summed up in the quote I began the review with. It is all about loving and accepting others and growing in that love. We need these books, we need this love, and we need this heart now more than ever. I found myself laughing, crying and being so touched by the stories in this book and cannot wait to read it over and over again!

Absolutely LOVE this book! I have already ordered a hard copy and may have to order more for friends. Bob Goff never disappoints. You will laugh, you will cry, and you will strive to do better. We don't have to be perfect, but we need to try and be better neighbors, friends, and families.

Wonderful read!

I heard Bob Goff speak at a convention several years ago and he writes like he speaks - full of energy and passion. This book is full of amazing stories from his lives and the lives of people he knows. He then uses the stories to point back to lessons from the Bible, all pointing towards the theme of the book: we are to love everybody, always.

I met Bob Goff on the K-LOVE cruise a few years ago. I had never heard of him but I fell in love with his infectious ways after hearing him speak.
As soon as I got off the boat I bought Love Does, his first book. Then I bought more copies to hand out, then I listened to the audiobook version because he narrated it.

This is how I knew I wanted to be there when his second book Everybody Always was released. I have already bought and read my own copy but I am so excited to be chosen to help review it.

As with anything Bob does, this book pushes you to view Jesus in a new way. It pushes us to love “everybody, always” I am still working on many of these areas but it is such a blessing to hear this and I plan to buy more copies of these to hand out as I go. We need to BE Jesus to the masses. We need to show them Jesus and not just tell them Jesus. I know he is still working on me but Bob helps me to learn there is grace for the journey.

Bob Goff does it again!!! His excitable writing style and open honest story telling draws the reader in quickly and it's hard to put this book down. His words encourage and inspire like no other author.

Love like Jesus. Love everybody, love the creepy people and the ones who seem most unlovable.

I cannot say enough good about this book or Bob. Not a surprise that this book gave me goosebumps throughout and now I'm going to read it again!

Wow! I knew I would love it based on his last book, Love Does, but I was blown away by how uplifting Bob's message is. He constantly inspires me to do better and be better. Everybody, Always is such a strong, important message for our culture today. It would be a great read for a church or small community.

There are some people who are are natural born storytellers. They can take almost any situation, and talk about it in a way that captivates their audience. Bob Groff is one of those people. On top of that he is a “fast thinker” someone who can come up with amusing things to say or do on the spur of the moment that adds a great deal of enjoyment to the lives of everyone who knows him. I think a lot of this has to do with his insight into why people behave like they do and sense of fun. I’m sure his friends treasure him, and looking at all the people who have reviewed this book already, I’d say fans of his writing do to.

The book is filled with stories that range from funny to heartwarming and at times will even bring the reader to tears. One of my absolute favorites was the New Year’s Day parade he started to celebrate his neighbors. The first parade had only eight people, but now he says there are 400 or 500. Since there are only 20 homes where he lives, I don’t think many people are watching, they must all be participants. With experiences from helping his dying neighbor tp (toilet paper) a tree, because it was one thing she never got to do, to starting a school for witch doctors the stories kept coming, and I enjoyed every one of them! He ties them all neatly up into his theme of becoming love.

Bob Groff does an excellent job of presenting his case for loving others as Jesus told us to, and he does it in such a way you’ll enjoy every minute of this book. (less)

This is a very inspirational book. While, I'm not christian, I was able to skim over those references and get something out of this book. It is helpful in showing us how to be more loving overall.

For some reason, I am unable to give feedback without filling in this box. Must have “wished” for this book accidentally. I do not read and review religious books

Everybody Always has an interesting perspective - if you love everybody (not just the people you are comfortable around, but more importantly the people that make you uncomfortable) always, you will be following what Jesus wants and therefore will be closer to Him.

Each chapter has two parts. The first is an anecdote from the author's life about different encounters with people and situations he has been in. I really enjoyed these little stories and found them fascinating. The second part is what the encounter has taught him about becoming love and how the encounter ties in to Jesus's teachings. As an overly nonreligious person, this was not as fascinating.

Overall I really enjoyed this book. While the book focuses on religious themes, you do not need to be religious to enjoy it.

I love the way Bob writes. He uses stories that really get to the point. He makes Christianity simple, which when you think about it is, love everybody always. He challenges the reader to become more like Jesus; not just learn about him.

I love this book!
Bob Goff knows how to Love people well. He is such a great storyteller as he shares his life stories and how he has learned to show love to everyone he meets.
He has inspired me to be better at Loving as Jesus taught us to regardless of where the person is in their life.
We are all blessed in so many ways so why is it so hard to just go give back? Why do we love only the people who are easy to love? We all need to open our hearts to “Everyone Always” not just those we decide are in our comfort zone.
This book is one everyone should read!!
