Bry is sick and tired of secrets and lies. Just wants to learn to control her wolf, start school in a regular high school, and delve into her relationship with Knox. Funny how things don't go the way you want them to......

This Novella takes place after the first book and is meant to bridge the gap between Book 1 and 2. I thought this short story was very cute and fun and does a good job of taking us down from book1 and setting us up for book2. 

Watching Briar Rose try to keep her inner wolf in check through out the story was a great and entertaining idea because, of course, after having been locked up all of Briar's life her wolfy side is bound to be a lot stir crazy and we get to see her and her friends deal with this situation in sometimes comical ways. I enjoyed getting to see Knox, Alec, and Elle again as well as minor supporting characters. My only complaint is that there is a bit of information repetition that I thought could be cut back on. 

I give Moonlight and Midtown 3 Stars.

Bry is ready to finally attend a regular high school after years with the evil aunties.  Or is she?  She is still having trouble controlling her wolf and with the general public getting picture happy, the last thing she needs is to un-shift in the nude.  Now Bry has a group of strangers following her around town and her best friend Elle is willing to help her confront them.  Can Bry determine who these strangers are?  Will the answers uncovered change how she looks at her future?

Moonlight and Midtown is an in-between novella from the Fairy Tales of the Magicorum series.  This book is just a tease of what may be awaiting us when the second novel comes out.  Bauer does spend a little bit of time recounting events from the first novel, but quickly the new story unfolds and readers will be pleased with the outcome.  There are magical creatures, an adventure and even some romantic tension mixed in.  A fun read for those who enjoyed the first book.

This book wasn't entirely necessary, but I'm glad it's a thing. Moonlight and Midtown is a laid-back story that follows Wolves and Roses. We get a bit of a look at what happens after Wolves and Roses ends which mostly contains Bry trying to take control of her wolf and the hunt for a wardrobe that doesn't shred when she changes.

While people may feel like the book is unnecessary for the storyline, it does provide a very refreshing story to read. It was a relaxing, light read and it was needed, in my opinion. I've been reading a lot of extremely action-packed stories that I've needed a break like this. It was great to see the world a bit more and get a sense of what direction Ms. Bauer would be taking us in the upcoming book Shifters and Glyphs. 

I don't think this book is necessary to read, so if you're not into filler stories, then you should probably wait it out for the second novel comes out. Overall, I really had a great time reading it and I'm so looking forward to the Shifters and Glyphs release so that I can see where we're going with this! I want to see what happens and if they find the fountain.

Moonlight and Midtown is a great novella filled with humor and mystery. Bryar Rose has come to terms with the fact that she is a shifter but she and her wolf have a few issues to work out still. The main one being that Bryar Rose’s wolf pops out whenever she feels like it and it is very inconvenient for Bryar Rose. The main inconvenience is that that since Bryar Rose has no control over the shifting, she does not have time to take off her clothes, which get destroyed when shifting and she has quite simply run out of clothes to wear. The other issue is that when Bryar Rose does shifts back to human she is naked as the day she was born and that is quite humiliating for a girl who has not grown up as a shifter.

With being unable to control her shifting, Bryar Rose has become a bit reclusive. Her boyfriend, Knox, has been quite supportive throughout this ordeal. With him being a shifter, he can understand what she is going through and deal with her wolf when needed. Which has been a wonderful thing for Bryar Rose. More wonderful than that though is her bestie, a bestie who has promised to take her shopping for an outfit that is magically enchanted and will not rip when she shifts. Bryar Rose will do just about anything for one of those outfits but it will not be an easy outing for the girls.

There is a lot to love in Moonlight and Midtown! It was a humorous tale that provided girl time between Bryar Rose and Elle, which was nice to see! Their attempts to get Bryar Rose a new wardrobe is pretty darn hilarious. There was some development with the plot regarding Knox and the pressure he is receiving to take over as Alpha. There is also some expansion on two supporting characters and that was quite enjoyable. I liked where Moonlight and Midtown ended and I am very excited to see how the situation that occurred at the end of this story develops in the next installment.

I liked the first book of this series, but this novella was lacking for me. For me this felt like a short story that was stretched to novella length. Could have been cute but was repetitive, and Bry seemed more silly than kick a$$.

Moonlight and Midtown, by author Christina Bauer, is a novella that takes place between Wolves and Roses, and Shifters and Glyphs. Briar Rose is finally free from her psycho fairie aunts who kept her locked up in a penthouse for most of her life to hide her magical nature. Now freed, Briar has discovered that she is actually a rarity; a paranormal who has access to shifter, fae, and witch magic. But, Briar has been having a whole bunch of issues with her newly released wolf who likes to pop out at the most inopportune times let alone being able to access all three magics in a moments notice. 

Thankfully, Briar has boyfriend Knox, the Alpha of the Wolves, to help guide her. Knox who has to corral Briar's wolf before she takes over fully and becomes lost. She also has her best friend Elle, who is supposed to follow the Cinderella story, and Alec, who is supposed to follow the Prince Charming story. The action takes place when Briar Rose and Elle go shopping for an outfit that won't shed to pieces every time she shifts. If you've read the first installment, you already met Fae Queen Nyxa who is a real trip and not a fan of Briar's. 

While the author avoids getting fully immersed into the subject about magic disappearing, and Briar's search for the Original book of Magic, she does hint that readers will see much more on that subject in the next installment. The main reason for my review rating is that Briar isn't the same person she was in the first installment. She is almost childish in her behavior. Hopefully, that will be resolved pronto.

A fun fast read.
This story is focused on the inconvenience of transforming into a werewolf and back.
Bryar Rose has to adapt and control her inner wolf that has been dormant by a magic spell. 
Her wolf form has shredded all her clothes while transforming, so her best friend Elle takes her to a shopping trip at the fairy stores that sales indestructible garments but the price might be to high.

This is a bridge novella that takes place immediately after book 1 and leads you into book 2 of the Magicorum series. I highly recommend you read the first book before this one because this is a lighter read and so much happened in book one.

Bryar is fresh into her shifter powers and is trying quickly to learn how to control her wolf but is failing miserably. She and Elle have moved into a townhouse owned by Le Charme and now her boyfriend Knox, an alpha wolf, and Alec Le Charme are their neighbors. Bryar is about to start regular school and is going to a mixer to meet other Magicorum students who will also be attending. The corrupt Magicorum instructors are gone. The problem is her wolf overtakes her so frequently she is running out of clothes to wear. 

Bryar comes off to me much younger than she did in book one. I don't know why but it's been hard to overlook. I loved the first book so much though I had to see where the author went with this novella. 

She decides to go to the underground Fae shops and see if there is anything they can do about her clothing issues. The girls continue to play pranks on the guys and they always retaliate. Alec comes off as more of a prankster than Knox though. Knox seems like the most mature of the group to me. He does a lot to teach Bryar about her wolf until he starts acting out of control. Bryar starts feeling uneasy like someone is following her and with Knox off his game she has to figure out what to do. 

This book was cute with enough intrigue and foreshadowing to make me excited to read the next book that comes out this fall!

Bryar Rose is getting ready for a night out with Knox her new boyfriend or who her wolf calls mate. Bry is worried about their upcoming outing as she is worried about her wolf showing herself at inappropriate times. She doesn’t want her naked rear end to end up on Youtube. But not to worry Knox has a plan that can help Bry learn to tame her wolf.

Oh and with all this shifting Bry is almost out of clothes. Every time she shifts her clothes is destroyed. Bry and her best friend Elle has plans to go shopping at the fairy shops which could spell disaster for both of them because going shopping with Bryar Rose can be deadly. But a girl has to look good no matter what the cost. 

Bryar is also having trouble with being followed but every time she looks over her shoulder to see who it is they disappear into the shadows. Who is following Bryar and what do they want? No need to worry because her bff is going to help her catch whoever is following her and take them down. 

I love stories like Moonlight And Midtown where fae, witches, werewolves among other paranormal creatures all join together or at least some do. Oh and did I forget to mention the fairy tale character like Cinderella, Prince Charming, Little Red Riding Hood? I love the combination of the two. Fairy tales and paranormal creatures in one story, brilliant! 

Christina Bauer is one of my favorite authors of all time and I have read many of her books and loved each and every one of them. They are all so incredibly amazing. Christina knows how to spend a story that keeps you coming back for more. Moonlight And Midtown is short read but it is so full of adventure and excitement that will keep you turning the pages soaking it all up from the first page until the last. I can’t wait to read more in this incredible world. 

I would recommend Moonlight And Midtown to fans of fairy tales and the paranormal world.

Wolves and Roses foi um dos melhores livros que li no ano passado. O primeiro livro da duologia Fairy Tales of the Magicorum traz uma premissa diferente de releitura de contos de fadas. Já pela sinopse eu sabia que Moonlight and Midtown não traria muito de novo para a história, mas ainda assim eu estava bem ansiosa para ler e não me decepcionei.

Nesse conto, vemos Bryar Rose e companhia se preparar para estudar numa escola de verdade. Até os seus dezessete anos, ela foi educada em casa pelas suas tias/fadas-madrinhas, e agora no último ano do ensino médio ela vai começar a conviver com outras pessoas. Seria tudo muito fácil se sua vida não tivesse dado uma guinada de 180 graus no seu último aniversário.

Dizer que eu estava com saudades de Bryar é dizer que o sol é amarelo e o céu é azul. A personagem continua com aquela mesma personalidade forte, cheia de atitude e língua afiada. Agora com um novo desafio na sua vida. Bryar descobriu sua verdadeira descendência mágica e tem de aprender a equilibrar isso juntamente com escola, amigos e namorado.

Knox continua sendo aquele personagem um tanto calado e observador, mas quando está com Bryar é um doce de pessoa. Ele sabe o que Bryar realmente é e tenta ajudá-la no que for possível, mas sem invadir seu espaço e respeitando suas decisões.

Elle é a melhor amiga que se pode ter, seja para ter um ombro amigo a chorar até para desovar um corpo. Fora que ela está disposta a fazer sacrifícios pelo bem estar de seus amigos. Seu passado é um tanto misterioso, porém Bryar confia nela o suficiente para saber que sua amiga esconde algumas coisas para sua proteção.

Por último mas não menos importante, temos Alec aka salvador da pátria com suas pedrinhas. Confesso que queria ver mais do personagem, mas o pouco que apareceu deu pra matar saudades.

O conto tem um pouco menos de 200 páginas. Amei como a autora equilibrou tanto a relação de Bryar com Knox quanto sua amizade com Elle. Não são todos que conseguem equilibrar essas relações de forma saudável e que tenham seu espaço. Dá vontade, né certo conto que saiu esses dias…

Como falei no começo da resenha, Moonlight and Midtown é um conto que não acrescenta tanta coisa na história, mas serviu para matar saudades dos personagens e dessa história maravilhosa; além de me deixar muito mais ansiosa por Shifters and Glyphs.

This was a really enjoyable novella. I really like these characters, and the world it's set in. I wish it was longer, but the second book is coming out soon(ish) so I'm not too bummed that it's short. 

I don't remember Bryar telling Knox in the first book that she had all three types of magic, but, maybe that will be covered in the next book. Her giving a short backstory about when she told him.

I can't wait to read more of this series.

Bryar Rose is adjusting to her new life now that she can shift. Shifting is the big problem, especially when her wolf pushes her to shift at the most inconvenient of times. This pushes Knox, Bry’s boyfried, to drastic measure to help Bry control her wolf.

Bry also goes on a shopping adventure to find the perfect outfit, a magical outfit, that will stay with her while shifting since she is exploding all her clothes. You never thought shopping was a dangerous adventure until you go with Bryar Rose.

I enjoyed Moonlight and Midtown but I had no connection to the characters and I believe its because this is not a stand alone read. Maybe if I read Wolves and Roses, I would of been more invested in a shopping trip and tangle with an evil fairy queen. From the synopsis, this is my kind of series. I would like the opportunity to read book 1 and see how I feel about 1.5 before I had to rate it... it stands now its 3.5 for me.

I read the first novel in the series and I enjoyed it. This is a novella, set in between the first and second books in the series. Bryar Rose has all 3 magics in her, fae, wolf, and witch. She is having trouble controlled her wolf and needs the help of Knox, her mate, to control her wolf before she goes out of control after being locked away for 17 years. Bry also has her best friend Elle, who is a fae, but hiding from her stepmother, and Alec, a warlock who is heir to to the Le Charme jewelry stores. Elle and Alec are like Cinderella and Prince Charming. They are all travelling in Manhattan, but the magic seems to be changing where humans are becoming aware of their existence. Bry and Elle have shopping plans, but this leads them into some trouble. With the help of Knox and Alec and 2 other wolves, they are able to get out of some trouble with the fae. I am looking forward to reading book 2 in the series!!
