3 stars. (2.5 stars - meaning a bit more than somewhat ok - but I'll round up to 3 which means - good.)

I found this didn't quite do it for me. The concent was good but after the first 1/3rd of the story, it just felt like it dragged and was going no where. The half way mark I started to really lose interest but I was still curious enough to want to know how this all concluded.

I can't say it was a bombshell of suspense reading this and I can see how some would really enjoy it. Just unfortunately for me, not enough was happening.

I tried to read this with the perspective of what would I do if I was Holly or Maggie. How would I react and feel in this position. I think that helped me get through this novel. Personally I don't recommend it but if you think you may like it, I would suggest giving it a go.

This book was a fast paced and really scary to read as a mother. I didn't really like the main characters, but it was a pretty good read.

I am not leaving a review due to the fact that this book did not interest me enough to finish the story.

Lots of action and movement in the story...the story's overall time line is short, so it felt like a lot of little details were included in the story. I didn't really like the characters, but the momentum of the plot kept it going forward.

Keep Her Safe

Wow! The blurb for this pulled me in, what a premise for a book. I was gripped straight away, what would you do to save your child’s life? You’d do anything wouldn’t you, even kill?

This is an intense and atmospheric read, I was there, in the story with Maggie, experiencing what she was and boy did it have me holding my breath!! It’s everything you want from a novel; it’s fast paced, breath taking, edge of your seat exciting!! Five shiny stars for this recommended read.

This was a very scary book. Not Stephen King type of scary, but the type of scary of - what would I do in the same situation. How far would I be willing to protect my child.
Thrilling book, gripping from beginning to end.

I enjoyed the first half way more than the second. It had an interesting premise but became just a little too far-fetched to sustain my interest. I did finish it though so I have read worse.

Maggie wakes up to hear an intruder in the house. Her first instinct is to rush & grab her daughter- she knows exactly why they are there-she is about to die unless she can protect herself. Someone is snatching babies and making their mother's kill a specified person so their baby is returned. Maggie knows this because it happened to her!

This is told from two perspectives- Maggie & Holly the intruder. It is set over one frantic snowy night and scarcely gives the reader time to draw breath. Maybe the reader is required to suspend belief rather a lot, but I got so caught up with the story I didn't mind!

This was a very fast paced and suspenseful read. Thanks to Netgalley & the publisher for letting me read & review this five star read!

This is the first book I have read by Richard Parker and it won't be my last ....what a read kept me hooked the whole way through my only complaint is that I couldn't read it fast enough and couldn't put it down read it in 1 sitting! Can't recommend this book highly enough!!!

This one, while descriptive, seemed too drawn out and repetitive. I couldn't finish it because I was not invested in anyone enough.

Maggie’s daughter Penny is her whole world… and she’d do anything to protect her. So when Maggie wakes one night to find a strange woman in her home, she runs to lock herself in her bedroom with her child. But Maggie knows why she’s come.

A story of a mother's love and what that a mother will do to save her child. An edge of your seat thriller that will have you second guessing yourself and what you would do in the same scenario. I also enjoyed that they didn't throw in a bunch of characters like most novels do to try to trick you on who is doing what ...ect this was straight forward and to the point and easy to read. I enjoyed this a lot.

Thanks NetGalley!!

What would you do to keep your children safe. I being a mother would move mountains to keep my children safe as you can tell from this book. How would you feel if it was someone you knew that took a child of yours. These are the questions that are faced in this book. It’s a roller coaster ride because you are wondering “why”. Wasn’t all that keen on the characters except for the poor child and for that reason I wasn’t sure if I could finish it or not because it wasn’t what I was expecting. It started out strong than kind of petered out. Won’t keep me from reading any of the author’s other books. I received an advance copy of this book for an honest review so thank you to NG and Bookouture

How far would you go to protect your child?

Penny, her 18-month old daughter, is Maggie's world and she'd do everything to keep her safe. But aren't all mothers like that? This is the heart of Keep Her Safe. Someone who calls himself Babysitter is targeting mothers making them do something in exchange for their child's safety. So when Maggie woke up one night facing Holly, another mother, she did exactly what mothers do - keep her baby safe. And maybe keep another babies safe too.
♦My Thoughts♦
For me, the plot is refreshing. I haven't read a thriller before that resembles this book's plot. Having a mother or mothers as protagonists and their babies the ones at stake was really brilliant. Just by thinking of it already brings thrill to me, and I know to you too. Because we know how mothers are when it comes to their babies. They become desperate and superhumans when their babies are hurt or in danger. And babies are vulnerable and fragile. I expected to care for the characters (Maggie and Holly) more than I did but it's okay. They just did fine.

Just as the short synopsis said, this one is an edge-of-your-seat thriller. Thus 4 stars for me because the story was true to its genre. The thrills are really there and suspense started right away and continued-from chapter 1 until the end. Though I don't quite agree with the synopsis when it said that this will keep me guessing until the last page. I was curious who really Babysitter is, but there was no point guessing. Throughout the stories, hints and clues were given but they seem pointless. They were all connected and mattered, yes, but they seemed to me just random facts dropped here and there just so at the end they support the big reveal. Really, who would ever guess that Babysitter is him and more importantly, NO ONE WILL EVER GUESS HIS MOTIVES? There was no "Aha!!!" moment. It seems random.

Despite my complain, I still give this one a high rating because like I said, this is a thriller and I was thrilled while reading it. That's what matters and I REALLY recommend this to all of you thriller fans. :) :) :)

Here's another book I received from Netgalley and I should point out right away that nothing in this book could really happen. None of it, but Keep Her Safe isn't the type of book you gain anything from, and you don't read it to look like an intellectual. I know it sounds like I'm about to tear this book apart, but no, it's just a warning to those who want a book that does something more than entertain you. The plot is simple enough. Woman comes into kill another woman and things escalate pretty quickly. What would you do to protect your child? Turns out these women would do quite a bit because after all, we love our kids and would do anything to protect them.

So, as soon as things pick up you're going to need to suspend your disbelief for the remainder of the novel. Just strap your self in and enjoy the ride because that's what this is. It's a fast moving thriller that takes you on a thrilling ride
. The characters thankfully are women that you can really get behind. That's important because they're the keys to making this thing work. While Babysitter leads them on a wild goose chase it's important that you like them. They are interesting women who have a bond, and now must work together to get Holly's daughter back. It's a simple plot that moves at a break neck speed. The mystery of course is who is Babysitter, what's his end game? This is the thread that we as readers follow. Parker knows how to write a story filled with action and suspense and while totally implausible, it doesn't really matter because you become invested in the story and want to see how it all turns out.

This is the kind of thriller you just relax and read. The problem is, once you start, you can't stop, so whatever you do, don't read this before going to bed. You won't get much sleep. It's the type of thriller that reminds me a lot of James Patterson in terms of style and how you're just grabbed by the neck and lead along until the end of the book. Solid read and one I highly recommend.
