This is Riordan and Sabrina’s story. Riordan comes from a powerful family with a curse attached to any female they love. Sabrina has a father who is willing to sell her to the highest bidder more than once. Riordan is teaching under an assumed name. Sabrina brings marriage of convenience scheme to Riordan. There are many twists and turns in their relationship. True love wins. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series.

What a solid historical romance by Ms. Gerrard. Marriage with a Proper Stranger was an intriguing blend of the classic historical romance but with a touch of a curse. Riordan was a man who was missing something and that something was Sabrina. A temporary marriage could turn into someone more. I really enjoyed this story and hope to read more by Ms. Gerrard.

This takes a real, and effective shot at threading the problematic needed of 19th century romances--the protagonists are upper class, and the helpful servants are probably destined for painful lives of poverty. In this one, the hero is genuinely determined to use his wealth for good and reform, and the heroine is realistically beset with legal woes stemming from unjust marriage structures, with servants and surrounding cast who aren't left by the side of the road.

I have found a new author, and she tells a wonderful story. Riordan is the most kind hero. I love the man he is. Sabrina is broken, but trying to find happiness. Their journey is touching. Looking forward to the rest of the stories!!!

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this book and this author. What I love most about this book is the way it deals with past abuse and consent. Also Sabrina’s snobbish attitude when she believes Riordan is of middle class. The sex was hot, hot, hot.

I really, really enjoyed reading this story but a few things didnt add up.
Yes, being a historian and a vivid reader though English isnt my mother tongue, you start to notice things that do not fit together. Firs tof all it's the language - it's not formal enough for the days the story takes place. Unfortunately it's a huge issue for me. It's more 1950s like, some parts even up to today and that doesnt fit. Second - I have read tons of 19th Century novels and never ever did a man wear silk undergarments. Third, the whole issue with the cat. Why should a cat on the countryside not be allowed to go outdoors and go to a litter box?
As much as I love this story, the idea was great, the character development well done - but those three things are an issue for me that's why I can only give it 3,5 stars.
