Last month I stumbled across Buzz Books a literary showcase of the best upcoming books the publishing world has to offer. I was pleased to discover that in addition to their semi-annual readers’ guides Publisher’s Lunch also compiles the hottest books coming out each month. With four excerpts previously featured in Publisher’s Lunch 2017 Fall/Winter edition readers are treated to samples of the following works:
• The Kings of Big Spring: God, Oil, and One Family’s Search for the American Dream, a multi-generational memoir from Bryan Mealer one of the authors of best-selling book The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind.
• Rosie-Colored Glasses, a moving semi-autobiographical debut by Brianna Wolfson
• Your One and Only, a dystopian romance from Adrianne Finlay
• The Sea Beast Takes a Lover, a short story collection by Michael Andreason

Other highly anticipated works include:
From the consummate essayist Ms. Zadie Smith Feel Free: Essays
An American Marriage by Tayari Jones about the impact a husband’s wrongful conviction
White Houses by Amy Bloom, the story of Eleanor Roosevelt’s long time love affair with female reporter
Down the River Unto the Sea: Detective Heal Thyself by Walter Mosley, a police procedural introducing NYPD detective Joe King Oliver

And Promising debuts by
Akwaeke Emezi - Freshwater, is a narrative steeped in Igbo mythology about a woman who suffers multiple personality disorder after a traumatic event
Danielle Lazarin – Back Talk, a short story collection praised by Celeste Ng as being “deceptively quiet but packs a powerful punch”

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for sending me a digital arc of these books. I am most excited about Adrianne Finlay's book "Your One & Only". I actually have already purchased a copy and have it sitting in front of me. First off the cover is beautiful. The colors are a bit darker than it shows online and I love it. The story itself is fascinating. The setting, plot, and characters are all very well written. Those who enjoy post apocalyptic, dystopian, science fiction, and romance will find a new favorite. It really is one of those books that falls well into so many categories.

I always took so forward to this book (seasonally or monthly). It's great to read and anticipate what will fill my anytime/everyday reading. These are informative for not only the content of more known authors, but emerging ones as well. I have read several gems that I might otherwise have never known of, had it not been for the Buzz book previews. Thank you so much!

Couldn't find anything to interest me this month but that is a first after three years of receiving it. Still an integral source of new reading for me.

A nice preview of four books that gives you a taste of authors you may not have read before in genres you might not consider. I liked looking ahead to see what books were coming out in the upcoming months and the organization of those books by release date, genre, new authors etc.

There is one book I will read for sure come publication (Adrianne Finlay - 'Your One and Only') which I doubt I would have picked up had I not read the piece included in this review. I look forward to checking out other monthly reviews as I see them posted!

Buzz Books is a great way to find debut authors or sample something outside of your usual reading zone.

Always find this compilation useful of upcoming releases and anticipated debut novelists.

I really enjoy getting these previews of the best books to come. However, for some reason this one wouldn't send to my Kindle, no matter how many times I tried. Not sure what was going on.

Yet another excellent Buzz Books to get me excited for all the new releases. As always, some books I was interested in and others I wasn’t, but I was impressed with the range in genres and the fact there is something for everyone in this sampler collection.
