This was a very moving portrayal of teenage friendship. The author actually made me care deeply for these characters and I was invested almost immediately upon starting. Friendship can be very complex and this concept was captured well.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
See All the Stars is described as a thrilling novel that is cross between We Were Liars and 13 Reasons Why. I would describe it as a mystery and love story combined in to one dramatic novel told through the eyes of Ellory, a senior at Pine Brook High School. Ellory is just one of four girls in a friendship group that revolves around one: Ret. Ret is the sun in Ellory’s solar system of life. Without her, there is no group; without her, they were just individuals. The love interest in his story is Matthias. He is the handsome, mysterious boy who kind of falls into Ellory’s lap at a party she didn’t even want to attend. Matthias and Ellory has instant chemistry and quickly fall into a whirl wind love story which is filled with dark secrets.

This novel dives into Ellory’s past (what happened before senior year) as well as twists through the pain that Ellory is going through in her present. Her life in the past is very different from her life in the present, the question is: what happened to make such a dramatic change? From a life of great friendships and love, to a present that is filled with loneliness and sadness. Ellory is a very real character and I found her very relatable. She has insecurities in all of her relationships that I know when I was her age I had and probably still have. Although she feels lost for most of the book, I feel in the end she truly is able to let go and discover who she truly is.

The only complaint I have about this novel is the time jumps. Each chapter is labeled as present or past to help you with this confusion, but I found it to be a bit choppy. I wish there was another way that we could see what happened in the past and how it has affected the present.

See All the Stars is a poetically written, mind twisting book! I don’t think a book or movie has ever shocked me to my core like this novel. I can honestly say that this book was very unpredictable! Every time I thought I had it figured out, I was proven wrong! I would definitely recommend this book to someone who is looking for a suspenseful, dramatic story about high school, friendship, love, and deception.

This was a very interesting and well-written story. I've been having a difficult time lately finding a young adult novel that stands out among the rest, but See All the Stars did exactly that. The book's pacing was perfect, and I loved that I was surprised at the end. Kit Frick definitely knows how to tell a story.

Although the novel deals with typical teen angst, friends, boyfriends and drama, it is anythung but typical. Such a clever story, written both in the present time and in flashbacks. We learn what happened bit by bit. I was drawn in and had to keep going until the end.

Wow. Wow, wow, wow. This book. I can't say truthfully that I read it in one sitting, but I can tell you that I got as close to it as I could. I absorbed this book. I couldn't wait to get off work so I could go home and read more. I stayed up way too late to read the last 100 pages, and I regret nothing.

It started with four - Ellory, Ret, Jenni, and Bex. Unseparable forces of nature. Add in a beautiful, soulful, hardworking boyfriend, and Ellory feels like nothing in life could be better. Her world is perfect. If Matthias would just open up more. If Ret would tone it down.

But now, everything's changed. Now, it's just Ellory. No boyfriend. No friends. Alone.

What happened last year to cause such a drastic change? See All the Stars reveals the beautiful and heartbreaking story that will have you itching to read more. I couldn't turn pages fast enough. I loved the writing style. I felt like I was back in high school. The fully developed and real characters are what make this debut YA novel so magical. I absolutely loved it and will be buying a copy for my personal collection ASAP.

Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review.

See the Stars is a story that captured my attention from the very first page to the last. I easily give this book a 5 star rating (and would give even more if I could!) It is a truly beautiful and complex story that will stick with me for much time to come. When I finished reading, I had to take a few moments just to digest the words. First, the writing in this book is so poetic and elegant that it made me hang on to every word. This book follows a Then and Now format switching by chapters, which I really enjoyed. Between this and the beautiful writing style, this book was truly a breath of fresh air in literature. The plot is equally heartwarming and heartbreaking. See the Stars is a story told by Ellory. She is a character I absolutely loved - she is so perfectly imperfect that she felt so real to me! Actually, all of the characters in this story felt this way to me. I loved hearing the story from Ellory's voice and the world through her eyes. See the Stars is a story filled with emotions, friendships, family, secrets, and lies. I won't give too much away, but I will say that you will definitely not regret picking up and reading this story at all! I couldn't put this book down!

It’s not until adulthood that we can finally look back and fully understand the complexities of the core relationships from our youth. And they were complex. At the time we told each other we would be best friends FOREVER and meant it. Our first loves felt like the center of our universes, and they were. Everything was life or death at the time and we couldn’t possibly see that this period of our lives was nothing more than a stepping stone to something bigger, something real.

This wonderfully written book perfectly depicts this period in all our lives, but then adds a profound layer of deception, betrayal, and tragedy. Things that could easily have happened to us all. After all, the ingredients were there. Heightened feelings, hormones, sex, drugs and alcohol… It just depends on how they were mixed.

I really enjoyed this book, The writing was excellent, the characters are flawed and deeply layered, and it felt very real. For me, this story brought my high school experience rushing back and I could easily empathise with a lot of what “Ellory” was going through. Actually, I could empathise with many of the main characters, including “Ret”.

Then there was the twist!

The ending of the story was completely unexpected! It tied everything together beautifully and it was done so well, it made me elevate my 4 star rating to 5 stars!

It’s hard to believe this is a debut novel. Kudos to the author for masterfully writing a truly evocative and realistic story. This is a MUST read!

Rating… A+

Even though I realized that this book doesn't come out for quite some time, I devoured it anyways. I simply couldn't help myself. The blurb drew me in. The characters and plot had me gripped, and the exquisite way in which the story was told kept me reading the book late into the night. I very much recommend this book to all readers.

"See All the Stars" is a beautifully written YA novel which kept me interested until the end. I liked the parallel story-telling of Ellory's junior and senior year and how the narration managed to give nothing away about the final twist.

Ellory was a great protagonist to follow around, naive and trusting in junior year, jaded and broken in senior year. The author did a great job showing how Ellory learns to deal with the events of junior year and how to move on and I really like how it is contrasted to her more naive persona from junior year.

The only thing I didn't like about the novel was the epilogue because the I felt that the final chapter from senior year was the perfect ending for this novel.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this novel for its beautiful writing alone.

"We Were Liars meets 13 Reasons Why in this thrilling debut novel that sweeps readers away as they try to solve the mystery of what happened then to make Ellory so broken now."

You guys. This book consumed me. I read it in two days and can't stop thinking about it. From the first page I could tell it was masterfully written. Halfway through I wanted to tell teachers how great it would be for students to read. And once it was over I wanted to see it replace all those ancient tired books like A Separate Peace that we already hated back in the 90s.

Reading this book is like watching a terrible impact, a ship inevitably hitting an iceberg, and the girls' collision contains all the iciness and destruction of such an event. You want to scream at the characters, each fully realized, to avoid the mistakes they are heading towards, and then you just have to watch, have to turn another page to see it all play out.

It's a powerful book, but it's not all bleak. The puzzle of how Ellory puts her life back together is just as compelling as how these four girls went from a tight orbit to scattered apart. And Kit Frick deserves a standing ovation for pulling it all off.

Taking this book on was an adventure for me. The last book I read that was founded on suspense and intrigue, I kind of hated, so I was leery going in. But due to my excitement for receiving it, and because I would like to be granted access to ARCs in the future, I was determined to dive in and give it an honest shot and review. That ended up being a great decision.

In See All the Stars, Kit Frick creates a cast of characters that is supremely real and too big for the world they are inhabiting. Ellory, Ret, Bex, Jenni, Matthias, Dave, and Abigail, all carry a piece of the complex and manipulative puzzle. As the story unfolds, so do the motives and history of each character, and how they each play a vital part in the undoing - and remaking - of a girl whose past torments her but will ultimately set her free.

Starting this book, let’s say the first 50 pages or so, I had three initial impressions: this author is trying too hard, instalove is gross, and Ret is a terrible human being. After forcing myself to step back for a couple days and readjust my attitude, I was able to view it with fresh eyes. The (albeit still extraneous) pop culture references slowed down in both frequency and force, I remembered that these people are in high school and falling head over heels too quickly is pretty much par for the course, and there were other characters who deserved my ire as much or more than Ret did.

Speaking of characters, it’s rare that a book leaves me feeling something for every single main character. Although Ellory was the sole narrator, and the reader is therefore forced to see everyone else through Ellory’s often unforgiving eyes, Frick still managed to paint a complete picture of most them. Whether it was a concerned parent, an uninterested boyfriend, or a petty best friend caught up in her own issues, Frick wrote in such a way that I was able to both experience how Ellory was feeling and be aware enough of the big picture that those other characters - at their very best and very worst - were still so beautifully whole.

Now, for the big, bad event. I was surprised. I did not figure out who it was about until it was happening, and I was pleased by that. I watch crime TV shows and keep track of how often I figure out the perpetrator before the law enforcement officials do. (I’m winning, in case anyone’s wondering.) The catalyst for the big, bad Event was not as much of a surprise, because those who were involved started out as cagey and manipulative and only became more so as the story progressed.

As I mentioned before, See All the Stars is written entirely from Ellory’s perspective. There are two timelines - then and now - which begin nine months before the big, bad event and four months afterwards, respectively. As the two different Ellory’s approach the event and the resolution, the reader is taken on a journey through each layer of her heartbreak, love story, anger, friendships, elation, and acceptance. Frick handles the journey near perfectly. It’s honest, not too much is revealed at once, and though it’s an incredible thing that happens, the outcome ends up being even greater. In my humble opinion, that’s one of the greatest victory’s an author or a story can have.

When this book hits shelves in August, I will definitely be buying a physical copy for my personal collection. I’m so excited for you all to get a chance to read it.

See All the Stars by Kit Frick is an intriguing story in the vein of Thirteen Reasons Why and We Were Liars. Told from the perspective of Ellory Holland over the course of a year, the reader is instantly drawn into the mind (and heart) of a teenage girl who considers herself to be a “constant satellite” to her more popular and vivacious best friend, Ret. However, all is not what it seems, and as the narration switches between the past and the present, we come to see Ret amd Ellory in a much more different light than originally thought. Frick is able to keep the narrative voice strong as she moves the story across these strands of time, and it isn’t until the end of the novel that the reader begins to understand the truth of Ellory and Ret’s relationship. Combining psychological mystery with the heartbreak of teen relationships, See All the Stars is a must-read!

I, like others an unable to read this because of the format. It's a shame it's not available in Mobi format. I guess I'll have to check it out at a later time.

It appears multiple reviewers are unable to open the downloaded PDF file. I am disappointed as the book's description and cover are intriguing. I tried various apps to open the file, however, no luck. Will find it in print one day and try again. Thank you anyway for the access to read and review!
