This is the last book in the series. Though there are a few minor storylines that seem to be left hanging and the characters seemed to be a little more "forced" into some scenarios, this book ties the series up nicely. I know that I was sad to feel left me wondering (I won't spoil it). All-in all, I think it's another solid work by JM.

This was a great end to the series, tying up loose ends and and hinting at a happily ever after. That isn't to say this was a fairytale. There was plenty of heartache and challenges and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I hope we're not done with this world. I hope to see companion stories or backstories to other characters. Prequels from different points of view?

James Maxwell is a natural story teller. It is a rare talent to create a world with such depth and quality. Maxwell gave us the "Everman Saga" that became a long-standing hit. Now, Maxwell continues his "Shifting Tides" series that continues to prove his worth as a Fantasy author. "Iron Will" is the 4th installment with well-rounded characters, intricately detailed scenes of battle that play out vividly in your mind and a continuation of the storyline as set up in the previous 3 books. All combine into a story that is a fan favorite.

A great book to conclude the series. Plenty of drama with surprising plot twists, fast paced and unputdownable. A brilliant story without all the generally expected fantasy characters, providing a wealth of colour and imagination contained in whole new fantasy race. Gripping from beginning to end

IIron Will is the fourth and final installment in James Maxwell's awesome Shifting Tides series. What a fantastic way to end a series! It was a thoroughly enjoyable novel to read.

Once again, we find Dion, King of Xanthos, etc.., in dire straits. Palemon has shown up with new and terrifying ways to threaten both human and wildren. Zara and Chloe are well matched as the sorceress and the apprentice Oracle fight for supremacy. It's a superbly written novel and I really don't want to give too much of the story away in my synopsis.

I did take a star off because of a sex scene that's a little more than "they went into the room and shut the door". I have kids that often pick up my books and read them. Sex scenes aren't a deal breaker for me but I don't usually have to be careful about leaving books like these around. It wasn't needed to move the story forward, hence the loss of a star.

Do yourself a favor. Download this book off Amazon or run to your nearest book store, because this novel is awesome. Satisfy your craving for an easy to read story, with swash-buckling characters, and lots of conflict.

I offer my thanks to Netgalley, for the opportunity to read this book for free in exchange for an honest review.

What is it about?

Iron Will is the fourth and final installment in the Shifting Tides series. As a conclusion, it is hard to describe without spoiling things for books 1, 2, 3. Let's just say that in these dark times allies must pull together or risk facing destruction, kings must make difficult decisions, and the fate of all man-kind and eldren is uncertain.

I really enjoyed this book. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that I thought some of the story threads were heading toward a different final confrontation and I was sad when one or two of these just fizzled out on the sidelines. Overall it was a very solid and exciting story. It was a very final conclusion which left no doubts about what would become of the world thereafter.

Now that it's over..

I highly recommend this series for fantasy lovers. People who love kings, strong women, dragons, shape-shifters, or any combination of the above should find something to love in these beautiful books. The whole series was written consistently well.

Having thoroughly enjoyed James Maxwell's Evermen Saga, I was more than happy to receive the opportunity to read and review a copy of this from Net Galley - my first such book. The series was already on my to-read list, so I used this as an opportunity to speed read through the whole series.

Overall I don't feel that this series was quite as polished as the Evermen Saga, but Iron Will acts as a fantastic end to the Shifting Tides series. After a couple of books where several of the characters seemed to make stupid decisions simply to serve the plot, the quality stepped up immensely for this final book, with everything coming together perfectly in a neat and satisfying conclusion.

This is the fourth book in this series, a story about how the different kingdoms must, come together and fight their enemies. Can Chloe and Dion solve the war before it’s to late. Read and find out for your self.

The shifting tides is the second book series I have read by James Maxwell and I can honestly say they just keep getting better and better, can’t wait for the next series. Again the characters and written prose are enthralling and I could not put this book down. I actually feel a little bereft that my shifting tides journey is over. I would and have recommended these books and quite a few of my friends are now meeting Dion & Chloe for the first time but they all agree these books are all amazing and James Maxwell is truly a literary genius
