This book grabbed me right from the beginning. This story deals with the pain of infertility and infidelity in a marriage. Marissa is married to Colin and is struggling with trying to conceive a baby. Little does she know, her husband Colin is having an affair with one of his college students Kaitlyn. Kaitlyn gets pregnant, and through some twists and turn becomes friends with Marissa. This is the story of the mess three people make of their lives when they are not true to themselves and struggle with the pain of betrayal.
The writing was superb and I could feel the character's pain, especially Marissa. I didn't like Colin much because he was such a heel. Recommend if you like women's fiction!

Shadows of Hope captured me from the beginning. The story is told from three points of view; the main character, Marissa, her husband, Colin, and a college student, Katilyn.

Marissa runs a crisis pregnancy center. This is a dream of hers and she pours her heart into it. After a miscarriage and subsequent problems getting pregnant, she fears she will never have a child of her own. Problems in her marriage arise, and she does everything to fight for it. Her best friend for years, who is also her co-worker, helps her through everything. (I think he’s secretly in love with her and I hope the author pairs them together in another book.)

Katilyn, Marissa’s favorite barista, becomes pregnant—by Marissa’s husband. To Katilyn’s defense, she doesn’t know he’s married. In addition, Marissa doesn’t know who the baby’s father is. What a mess! It sure kept me turning the pages wanting to know what happened next.

When Katilyn comes to the clinic, Marissa offers a lot of support, care and friendship. The self-growth Katilyn goes through in this story is simultaneously heartbreaking and blissful. I ended up very proud of her.

Now for Colin. the college professor, father of the baby, and cheating husband. I will try to set aside my disdain for this character. To his credit, he stepped up and took responsibility--after being irresponsible in the first place. He was there for Katilyn during her pregnancy—sporadically and when it suited him. He did his best to be a good father—in the process, stabbing Marissa in her weakest place. Okay, I give up. I can’t stand this despicable, self-centered character. The author tried to redeem him, I give her that.

All the characters are amazingly well-developed. I could picture their quirks, grins and tears.

I’m glad I discovered this author. She writes a great story.

You’re going to love this book!

There’s only one word for “Shadows of Hope” by Georgiana Daniels……Wow! This was a book that I couldn’t put down. I couldn’t wait to see what was going to happen with Colin, Marissa and Katelyn. The ending was different than what I expected, but it showed the reality of this book.

Even though this book was fiction, it really portrayed the importance of marriage. Marriage is so fragile. We, as wives, need to guard our marriages and keep them from getting complacent. I love when fiction authors write a book that has tidbits we can learn from it. This author delivered!

This is the first book I’ve read by Georgiana Daniels, but it definitely won’t be my last. I can’t wait to read more by her.

I received this book from Net Galley for my honest opinion.

I received this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Finding good Christian fiction is a tough one for me. So many authors just miss the mark for me personally. This book was surprisingly good. I wasn't sure if I would relate to the story, but decided to give it a try. The characters were strong and likeable. I believe there are many women that find themselves in Marissa's situation. I do feel like the ending was a little rushed, but overall enjoyable.

Shadows of Hope is a Christian book about hope and forgiveness. All is not sunshine and roses just because you made the decision to follow Christ. Christians still deal with the same problems that can affect anyone. The difference is being able to trust in the knowledge that God is with you and He will work everything out for your good. Even if you can't see it at the time.

In this book Marissa and Colin's marriage has lost it's spark. To say the least. It all started going downhill after they suffered a miscarriage and since then have been unable to conceive. Marissa thinks he's having an affair, but won't confront him about it directly. Ironically Marissa & her best friend, Tristan, operate a crisis pregnancy center. This center has become Marissa's safe haven from her failing marriage. Through the center Marissa befriends a young woman named Kaitlyn. Kaitlyn finds herself in need of help and support after discovering she is pregnant from her relationship with Colin. Marissa and Kaitlyn become good friends, without knowing that Colin is something they have in common. They have been placed them together for a purpose. They help, support, and encourage each other to grow. Both are private women that don't share too much with each other. Yet they are able to form a close bond. With her failing marriage Marissa must decide if she will continue living a stagnant life, or if she will embrace all that God has put in her path. Marissa's friendship with Kaitlyn helps her see that God has more planned for her. All she has to do is trust Him and step outside her comfort zone. Colin becomes the catalyst in her decision.

This book was a great read. The author showcases some real talent. I had an idea of what the book was about prior to reading it. I didn't expect the depth contained within the pages though. The rawness of heartbreak made me feel like I was spying on a private situation at times. The characters were realistic and touched my heart. The plot was deep with lots to keep me flipping page after page. A fabulous book with a surprising, unexpected ending.

Shadows of Hope is a story of Marissa & Collin Kimball’s journey to recovery after suffering infertility for years in their marriage. Shadows of hope tells a vivid story of not only their journey to overcome the strain infertility has placed on their marriage, but their individual sources of distraction from the issue. While Marissa is distracting herself with the clinic she has built, her husband has a distraction all his own. Attempting to fast track his career as a college professor into tenured status, Collin has placed everything on the line for a young co-ed; including his marriage.

Tristan, best friend to Marissa is caught between a rock and a hard place. He has to watch his friend agonize her way through the situation, without wanting anyone to help. Conflicting with his psychologist nature to help. Tristan may not be on team Collin, but he does a good job of providing unbiased advice.

Meanwhile, Marissa is befriending the very women that has her contemplating what to do about her marriage; Collin’s mistress. Saving grace for the mistress, Kaitlyn, she has no idea until it’s too late, that Collin is married. You won’t spend the whole story disliking her or upset (or that could just be me). I think anyone can identify with Kaitlyn’s guilt at being a part of situation she didn’t know the whole truth about until it was too late. Ignoring the red flags, an often in hindsight, obvious signs that something wasn’t right.

While there are some spiritual elements & brief scripture references in the story, it wouldn’t be hard for someone who has had the same struggles, and doesn’t believe, to identify with the struggles of Marissa & Collin. Georgiana Daniels uses great imagery & technique to evoke emotional responses to her characters. You will hurt with Marissa as you watch her attempting to cope with the infertility. Which will leave you furious with Collin’s behavior at focusing on his own selfish feelings, from the problems he has created.

I gave the book 3 stars, because I didn’t like the development of Marissa. She lacks accountability in her actions and throughout the story. Collin’s affair isn’t justifiable, but her unwillingness to accept responsibility for the state of her marriage prior to knowing is on Marissa. As well as her relationship with Tristan. When you knowingly manipulate a person’s involvement in your life because it is beneficial for you, its wrong. In Marissa’s relationship with Tristan, you get no sense that Marissa has any regard for how her desire for his friendship affects Tristan. She acknowledges awareness, but never accountability.

Overall, I would say it is a good story, with a lovable group of characters. The ending definitely came out of left field for me. It was definitely a plot twist I wasn’t expecting.

I've never read anything by Georgiana Daniels before, but the book I just finished was too hard to put down. In fact, I stayed up till 1:00 or 2:00 am (time changed last night, so I am not sure of the time) to finish this heartbreaking book. I WISH that there was more to the book. Georgiana left a lot of issues unsolved and left me with a poor taste in my mouth. But then, maybe she is going to write a sequel.

Marissa was the director of a crisis pregnancy center and always met her co-owner at the coffee shop every morning before work. She loved the particular shop because of her barista who always knew how to fix her coffee without even taking her order.

Kaitlyn, the barista, was having an affair with her college biology professor and he breaks up with her just as she's coming to tell him she's pregnant. She meets Marissa again at the crisis pregnancy center and an unlikely friendship forms between them.

Colin is Marissa's husband and he's also Kaitlyn's paramour, but there are some cords to untangle to get to the bottom of this book. Colin is working toward tenure at the university where he teaches, he's keeping secrets about his family from Kaitlyn, and keeping secrets about Kaitlyn from Marissa.

These are all shadows in the book with a few others thrown in for good measure. I am wishing more loose ends were tied up in this book. The plot movement is perfect and the characters are incredibly believable. But because of the loose ends, I give it a four stars.

My thanks to Barbour Publishing for allowing me to read and review this book.

Really drew me in from the start!
I believe this is the debut novel by Georgiana Daniels, and it was very well written. It really kept me reading, not wanting to put it down.
It deals with marriage, infertility, infedility, friendships, faith, and pregnancy. The characters are interconnected though they don’t know it until the end, and that tension is what made for a real page-turner!
I give this book four and 1/2 stars. The ending, though not completely satisfying, was probably pretty realistic,

Sometimes life imitates art. Not 💯% but close. I really enjoyed reading Shadows of Hope by Georgina Daniels. It was thought provoking to be sure.

Marissa and Colin are married and not able to get pregnant after last miscarriage. They fall about and he ends up having an affair. The girl gets pregnant.

The story is how they deal with this little problem. I rooted for the wife and the other woman. The only redeeming quality the husband had was wanting to be in the baby's life.

My take away is to always keep your eyes on God, don't give up your faith, and Christians really should not marry non Christians.

Great questions in the back of the book for a book club or to do on your own. I would recommend this book. Thank you to NetGalley and publisher for the advance copy in exchange for my honest review.

This story had me clinging to my tablet—a real page turner. The emotion packed into each character oozed right off the page. Amid such turmoil, there remains hope throughout. The author gives food for thought, allowing us to see room for forgiveness in this heartbreaking dilemma. The MC, Marissa, holds tightly to her faith as she looks for answers to how—or if—her marriage can be saved.

Shadows of Hope is ideal for a book club. There are questions following the story to guide your discussion. It’s easy to see there are no clear choices.

The story is told from the POV of each of the three main characters: the infertile wife, the cheating husband, and the pregnant girlfriend. This book is well edited. The pace is wonderful. I will gladly read more from this author.

I thought about giving it four stars because I would have liked a few more twists and turns, and I felt the tiniest bit unsatisfied with the ending. But I went with five since I really loved the story so much I couldn’t put it down!

A love triangle! When you suspect your husband is having an affair but you would never dream that it was with your best friend. You’ll keep turning pages long into the night wondering how this drama will end.

While I really wanted to like this book, I walked away somewhat disappointed. The heroine's character was developed a bit, but some of the supporting characters seemed like fairly hollow caricatures. The author's tendency to jump between perspectives didn't help, since the males all seemed to be one-dimensional. The premise of the book was plausible, but it became stilted as concealment of truth stretched on and on to the "dramatic" conclusion. I understand that life is far from a fairy tale and "art imitates reality," but I guess I was hoping for a different ending. I have no issue with flawed characters (some of my favorite authors major in flawed heroes or heroines), but I guess I was hoping for a greater sense of redemption and hope found in Christ rather than just an ending which reflects what some would call "real life." I don't mind the journey with all the bumps along the way, but why not deal with the deep underlying issues honestly? Why only vilify one character and let the other off the hook? Why not challenge the current cultural status quo and bring light into darkness? I regret to say I was disappointed.

Shadows of Hope by Georgiana Daniels is a very touching story of love, betrayal, forgiveness and moving on.
Marissa meets every morning with her business partner and best friend, Tristan, at The Bean for a latte and conversation before heading to the non-profit they run for mothers in crisis called New Heights. He and Marissa have been best friends since college and she has relied on him for support and advice. Marissa had a miscarriage and has been unable to conceive since. She and her husband have drifted apart as she focuses so much energy on trying to get pregnant. She is now suspicious of her husband, Colin, and is checking up on him as much as possible. She is not ready to share her concerns with Tristan but he knows something isn’t right. Colin is a professor at the local university and up for tenure. He is spending as much time away from home as he can and spending it with a student, Kaitlyn. Kaitlyn does not know he is married and ends up at New Heights for assistance and a part time job. How will God work in all these lives? Will Marissa and Colin’s marriage survive the infidelity?
This book is a very emotional read; it brought out really strong feelings in me. The characters are described so well they jump off the page and I was completely drawn in to their ordeals. They each have their own human flaws and struggle to work through them. I especially related to Marissa and at times wanted to shake her for being so naïve. Colin made me angry as he was so self-centered and lied to both Marissa and Kaitlyn. Through it all God works in each life and circumstance and author portrays this in very realistic ways without be preachy or judgmental. I give this book a 5 of 5 stars.

This is the first book I have read by Georgiana Daniels. Shadows of Hope is a very emotional read. Marissa works for a problem pregnancy center, a job that she has always loved. But helping women having babies when she can't have her own is becoming difficult. Especially when she thinks her husband is cheating. Discoveries, new friends and decisions to be made. This story is told from three points of view. Each one learning and going through life's difficult journey.

I received this book from NetGalley with no expectations for a positive review. All expressed opinions are my own.

Georgiana Daniels makes us think about the hard questions when she introduces Marrissa Moreau. Marrissa Moreau works at a crisis pregnancy center. She is infertile and this has lead to a chasm between her and her husband Colin. Colin seems to be a very cold shallow character and she suspects Colin of cheating. Kaitlyn is in her mid-twenties and a college student. She finds herself alone and pregnant. She works as a barista at a local coffee bar where she and Marissa become friends. Marissa befriends her favorite barista Kaitlyn inviting her to seek help from the pregnancy center. Unbeknown to both women and to Colin they are all connected. Will God's love heal these relationships? And what about forgiveness? Can they forgive themselves? Will God forgive them? A very interesting read.

The "crisis pregnancy ministry" & the infertility problems pulled at my heartstrings. But I got turned off by the story's adultry, & stopped reading in Chapter 4. I realize that adultry happens, but I personally don't find it entertaining.
