Shadows of Hope by Georgiana Daniels is a very touching story of love, betrayal, forgiveness and moving on.
Marissa meets every morning with her business partner and best friend, Tristan, at The Bean for a latte and conversation before heading to the non-profit they run for mothers in crisis called New Heights. He and Marissa have been best friends since college and she has relied on him for support and advice. Marissa had a miscarriage and has been unable to conceive since. She and her husband have drifted apart as she focuses so much energy on trying to get pregnant. She is now suspicious of her husband, Colin, and is checking up on him as much as possible. She is not ready to share her concerns with Tristan but he knows something isn’t right. Colin is a professor at the local university and up for tenure. He is spending as much time away from home as he can and spending it with a student, Kaitlyn. Kaitlyn does not know he is married and ends up at New Heights for assistance and a part time job. How will God work in all these lives? Will Marissa and Colin’s marriage survive the infidelity?
This book is a very emotional read; it brought out really strong feelings in me. The characters are described so well they jump off the page and I was completely drawn in to their ordeals. They each have their own human flaws and struggle to work through them. I especially related to Marissa and at times wanted to shake her for being so naïve. Colin made me angry as he was so self-centered and lied to both Marissa and Kaitlyn. Through it all God works in each life and circumstance and author portrays this in very realistic ways without be preachy or judgmental. I give this book a 5 of 5 stars.
I received an advance copy of this book from Barbour Publishing through Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.

This is the first book I have read by Georgiana Daniels. Shadows of Hope is a very emotional read. Marissa works for a problem pregnancy center, a job that she has always loved. But helping women having babies when she can't have her own is becoming difficult. Especially when she thinks her husband is cheating. Discoveries, new friends and decisions to be made. This story is told from three points of view. Each one learning and going through life's difficult journey.

I received this book from NetGalley with no expectations for a positive review. All expressed opinions are my own.

This is inspirational fiction about a woman who works at a crisis pregnancy center and inadvertently befriends the woman who her husband impregnated. Since the blurb discloses that much of the plot, I was surprised that it takes as long as it does for Marissa, the main character, to discover who her friend is. Her point of view is in first person and the husband and friend's point of view is given in third.

There is so much about marriage and infertility that is realistic in this book and I appreciated the Christian setting and how much Marissa struggles with her husband's unfaithfulness, yet still tries to do what God wants. Her own contribution to the breakdown of their marriage is handled well. I think the ending is also realistic, and not so much of a HEA, but what is so well done is each character's emotions and struggles.

Georgiana Daniels makes us think about the hard questions when she introduces Marrissa Moreau. Marrissa Moreau works at a crisis pregnancy center. She is infertile and this has lead to a chasm between her and her husband Colin. Colin seems to be a very cold shallow character and she suspects Colin of cheating. Kaitlyn is in her mid-twenties and a college student. She finds herself alone and pregnant. She works as a barista at a local coffee bar where she and Marissa become friends. Marissa befriends her favorite barista Kaitlyn inviting her to seek help from the pregnancy center. Unbeknown to both women and to Colin they are all connected. Will God's love heal these relationships? And what about forgiveness? Can they forgive themselves? Will God forgive them? A very interesting read.

The "crisis pregnancy ministry" & the infertility problems pulled at my heartstrings. But I got turned off by the story's adultry, & stopped reading in Chapter 4. I realize that adultry happens, but I personally don't find it entertaining.

Not my usual style, but decided since I had just finished reading/reviewing three pretty heavily detailed historical fiction books, I'd try something lighter and different. Quick reading, perhaps, but definitely nothing light about it! This new-to-me author hit on a heavy topic and did so with such finesse, maneuvering me on quite an emotional roller-coaster ride.

Never have I disliked a hero (and I use the word loosely) more than Colin, who blames his indiscretions on his wife. And Marissa is way too smart, compassionate, and successful in her own right, to continually accept his emotional abuse and infidelity. His clothes should have been out in the yard midway through the book! Does God require a wife or husband to stay together when infidelity is involved? Can it be worked through? Overall, an intriguing, thought-provoking, page-turner that I finished in a bit over a day.

I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion.

I found this book to be a refreshing change from some tales similar to this. It addressed the topic head on without skirting the huge issues.
Adultery and infertility were two key topics in this book. I loved the mention of doulas, grants for those in need of their services and found that especially wonderful as a doula myself.
The writing style is excellent and touched on many key phrases that would be said to a Christian woman in a marriage that is falling apart. My only complaint would be that it left me many questions in the end, which again, is real life.

This women’s fiction novel is a breath of fresh air, speaking truth and reality, without giving pat answers that suddenly fix everything.

This book was obtained through NetGalley and the opinions contained herein are my own.

Marissa, Colin, and Kaitlyn’s lives are forever connected when Colin cheats on Marissa with Kaitlyn who ends up pregnant. Kaitlyn comes to Marissa’s pregnancy clinic and the two become friends. Secrets are kept, worlds collide, and the women must decide what is most important.

I enjoyed this story. It’s a little like watching a train wreck. You know that when Marissa and Kaitlyn discover how they are connected through Colin things will never be the same. I found all of them to be highly relatable. I was a little surprised that Colin and Marissa didn’t work things out, but that seems pretty realistic. Colin certainly wasn’t interested fixing his relationship with his wife. He acted like she should bend to him even though he was the one who broke trust.
