Little Davy the rabbit dreams of traveling, especially after Wendy Wildgoose told him all about her family's big vacation trip. Unable to fly, Davy decides to try and convince his parents that the whole family needs to go on a trip where they can swim in the Big Water. Once his parents are on board with the plan, Davy and his family set to out to pack their things for the long trip. The only problem is that Davy and his family have no way to carry all of the things they planed to take on their vacation. Even the wagon couldn't handle the heavy load. Trying to be creative, they try and think of other ways to get their belongings to the Big Water, but nothing they think of will work. Just as he thinks the family will not be able to go on a trip, Davy remembers a trip he took with his grandpa, right to the middle of the world. Davy then leads his family on a more realistic journey, where they have a picnic and enjoy swimming. While not in the Big Water, they managed to have a fun family adventure of their own, accompanied by family memories that are sure to make young readers smile!
This charming story is adorable and the perfect summer read, especially for little travelers! The illustrations bring the characters to life and really enhance the story. Even the smallest explorers will enjoy the journey little Davy takes them on!

An exciting book for young children. I found this book to be short, sweet, and perfect for younger children. Children will love this story about Davy and his family searching for the perfect vacation location. The illustrations were beautifully done, and children will love pointing out the colourful images on every page. Cant wait to see this in print!

I have received a much appreciated digital copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Adorable children's book about Davy the rabbit and his desire to go far far away and see many things. It is also a book about his ingenuity and overcoming difficulties.
Beautifully illustrated and so so charming with the old fashioned feel.
Great story about loving and being happy with what you have. It has a very deep meaning and teaches an important lesson.
Lovely book for children of all ages.

This was a neat concept. It explains Bigfoot and talks about him going on vacation. They the suggest some vacation locations and tell you about them. Then; the next page is a drawing where you have to find certain things in the picture. It was a fun read.

What a cute little book about overcoming obstacles, and finding a way to compromise so one gets what it wants. When Davy the bunny's friends come back from the beach and tell him about their trip, he desperately wants to go with his family, but, as bunnies, it's a hard trip for them to make. After they attempt to make it to the beach and almost have to give up completely, Davy remembers another place his Grandfather had once shown him that was a bit closer, and that he and his family could enjoy throughout their summer vacation.

A fun, quick read for children that also has a very important life lesson woven in between all the fun. The lesson being you don't have to spend money (or "carrot dollars") to have a memorable vacation with family. I also liked the lesson of You can't always get what your friends have.
And yes, the "carrot dollars" made me laugh out loud.
My 4 year old son enjoyed this little darling read with me.
Lets also acknowledge the beautiful artwork. The drawings come to life on every page. The attention to detail is 5 stars. I actually used it as a game with my son, ex: "Find the loaf of bread", "Find the striped straws", etc.

Thank you NetGalley for providing me this free ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This book was a wonderful and unexpected delight. The illustrations were so beautifully done. Who doesn't love a soft, adorable bunny family? This story of a vacation that doesn't go quite as planned shows exactly how the things that make our heart the happiest are often that way.

'Davy's Summer Vacation' is about little Davy the rabbit who hears about his friend Wendy the Wildgoose's vacation at the beach. He wants to go, but realises he can't fly, and therefore comes up with an alternative holiday for the family. The story is a little on the lengthy side, so perhaps not best for very young children. The illustrations are very adorable and the story on the whole is a sweet tale.

When Davy hears about his friend Wendy Wildgoose’s vacation at the beach he wants to go too!
But he and his family can’t fly and their wagon just broke, so the beach is out. But Davy takes the family on a wonderful trip that is just as fun.

I give this book a rating of 4 stars. Very cute book. My youngest daughter, 4 really enjoyed this book. Beautiful illustrations.

Davy so wants to go to the beach. But to get his family and all their stuff there is just too much. Maybe the family can take a vacation. They just have to find the right place. This story has a wonderful old school feel to it. It has amazing watercolor illustrations that are a perfect compliment to the tale of the bunny tails.

Loved the story, disliked the ending.

Davy's Summer Vacation starts with Davy's friend telling him about her recent family vacation and how wonderful it was. This makes Davy want to experience a family vacation of his own. So he convinces his parents to take such a trip but its not that easy for them to pack up and go. They run into all kinds of difficulties trying to leave home but eventually they come up with a solution that was.......... nothing special, boring, and any other word that suggests that it was lacking.

I enjoyed reading Davy's Summer Vacation with my son for the most part. I liked the beginning and the build up but the climax simply didn't do it for me. The book ended and I was still looking for more. I mean.. I understand that this is no suspense thriller, but I was still expecting a better ending. That was really the only disappointment for me with this book. My son seemed to like the story which is good but his expectations are considerably lower than mine.

Wendy Wildgoose flies over for a visit with her friend Davey, an adorable little rabbit, and tells him all about her fabulous summer vacation at the beach. Inspired by her story Davy immediately wants to go there too. Unfortunately he and his family cannot fly like geese, and their wagon is too weak to carry all their luggage....but wait!!!! They all have strong legs and that just might be their mode of transportation.

After trying to figure out ways to make the highly anticipated vacation work his family finally comes to the conclusion that a beach holiday is definitely out. They have run into too many obstacles and they put that dream to rest.

They are all disappointed and very sad because they are all pumped to go... but wait!!! Davy has a fantastic idea that will turn their frowns into wide, happy smiles. He encourages them to come along and join him on a wonderful trip that simulates beach fun and will make wonderful memories for the family. Will they trust him enough to blindly follow him on this quest and finally get the long-awaited vacation they deserve?

This book is about close family ties, problem solving, not giving in to defeat or giving up on your dreams. The illustrations are detailed, full of action and expression making the story animated to the reader. I highly recommend this book.

This one was a heart-melting sweet story about being happy with what you have and learning to adapt! Davy's family couldn't make it to the big water so he showed them a new place that was even more special to the family! I loved this book and I am going to add it to our collection here at the house! It was well written and the illustrations were very visually stunning as well!
I am going to recommend this to our local library and preschools. We have a small town and the kids love new books! This one will be a great addition to any household or classroom with inquisitive minds and adventures!

Wendy Wildgoose shares with her rabbit friend Davy that she enjoyed a fantastic trip with her family. “We visited the Big Water. We swam, played in the and, and saw all kinds of new things.” Davy feels deflated since he would love to go on a trip like that but it’s unlikely that it will happen since he and his family don’t fly. But surprise, surprise, when he tells his family that he’d like to go to Big Water they agree since they’ve wanted to go there, too. Mother rabbit warns the children that it’s a very long trip to get to Big Water, but the children are fine with that. They scurry around and pack their wagon but it is VERY loaded, so loaded that Davy adds his toy rabbit and - - Crack. All four wheels break. Now What?

Cons: None

Pros:  This is a book that most parents will want to share with their children.  It is about family, working together and being satisfied with what you have, regardless of what others have or do. Beautiful illustrations and a great story.

Davy’s Summer Vacation is a cute and sweet read with lovely drawings and a nice message.

Davy is a young and adorably drawn bunny who wants to go to the Beach. His friend, Wendy Wildgoose, has just returned from a trip there and her stories inspire Davy to travel too. Davy and his family pack their things, buckets and shovels and blankets and pillows and all. However, they have too many things and their wagon cracks and it’s too expensive to ship it to the beach. All seems to be lost until Davy gets a brilliant idea. It’s a happy ending as the rabbits get their fun summer vacation closer to home.

The storyline is really easy to follow. The book’s language is simple and it’s a quick read which makes it perfect for young readers. Through Davy and his family, the book gently illustrates the power of resourcefulness and an appreciation for the little things in life. I also like that Davy’s parents listen to him and give him a chance to save the day.

I absolutely love the beautiful illustrations which fit perfectly with the story. They are really well-done, and I like the soft colours.

I think this is a great and easy read for kids. I definitely recommend it! I’d love to read more of Davy’s adventures.

This book teaches an important lesson, that you can not have everything in life, and we should be happy of what we have and not try to have what our friends have.
