In Amish Homestead book 2, Room on the Porch Swing, Laura Reihl is mourning the loss of her best friend, Sevilla. When Sevilla’s widower, Allen, asked for help with their young daughter, Mollie, she can’t say yes fast enough. Allen, Sevilla, Laura, and her longtime boyfriend, Rudy, have been friends for several years and she would do anything to help her friend out. Although she yearns to help Allen cope with Sevilla’s passing, she can’t see her own relationship issues. She and Rudy have been growing apart and she hates to break off their relationship because they have been together four years.

Allen is exhausted and still blames himself for not getting Sevilla to the doctor sooner, convinced that her death was his fault. As she talks to Allen and helps him with Mollie and his own grief, Laura soon discovers she is falling for her best friend’s widow.

Amy Clipston has written another captivating story. Laura is no stranger to loss as in the first Amish Homestead book, she lost her mother to an accident. This book touches on grief and coping with loss, as well as, second chances.

I received an advance reader copy of this book from netgalley and Zondervan Fiction in return for my honest opinion of the book. All opinions and statements expressed are strictly my own.

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review .Allen never thought that one day he would be a young widower having lost his Savilla and be left with a young daughter . He has no family to help and is blessed to have his mother in law step in and help. Watching her sweet Mollie she had an accident and had have surgery and rehab.

Savilla's best friend Laura steps in to help with taking care of Mollie. She watches as Allen struggles with being a single dad and running a business. It starts to take a toll on him , so she ask if she can be stay overnight in Mollies room so he can be well rested . Lauras family is fine with this but not her boyfriend Rudy. He is jealous . He tries to cause issues for Laura with the church.
Lauras family notices how close she is to Allen but she is in denial. When the mother in law is able to come back she realizes she has fell for Allen and of course Mollie. In the end they make plans to become a family.
I enjoyed reading this book and seeing how loved bloomed for Laura and Allen

I received an arc copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for my honest opinion of it. I absolutely loved this book! The love that grows between Laura and Allen is just so pure and sweet. It was also so special to watch their relationship grow and at the same time show respect for the loved one who had passed. Highly recommend

Another sweet story about the Riehl family. Rudy and Laura's relationship comes to a head in this story. When Laura's best friend suddenly dies, Laura steps up to take care of her baby. Since Laura is still grieving the death of her mother, she understands what both Mollie and her dad are going through.
This is a story of love, death and second chances. Highly recommended!

When her best friend, Sevilla, died unexpectedly six months ago, Laura Reihl vowed to make each day count. So, she should probably acknowledge that she and her longtime boyfriend, Rudy, have been growing apart and break off their relationship. But they’ve been together for several years and his friendship means the world to her. When Savilla’s widower, Allen, asks for her help taking care of his daughter, Mollie, she jumps at the chance, thinking that a change of pace may give her some perspective. Besides Allen has always been a good friend to her and he was her best friend’s husband! When she arrives at Allen’s house, she finds a man she barely recognizes. Allen is exhausted and distraught, still blaming himself for not getting Sevilla to the doctor sooner, convinced that her death was his fault. As Laura helps Allen through his grief, she finds herself remembering just how easy he is to talk to. She discovers an attraction that she’s never felt for Allen before. She can’t be falling for her best friend’s widower, can she? Wouldn’t that be a betrayal of the two people she cares about the most: Sevilla and Rudy? But, if she denies her feelings, won’t she be betraying herself?

This was yet another of Amy Clipston’s sweet stories about the sweet families in The Amish Homestead series. We’ve already seen them deal with tragedy when the Reihl family lost their mother, unexpectedly, in an accident. This book picks up several months later and the two families are even closer. They’re still mourning but handling things. Tragedy struck quickly and unexpectedly this time with the loss of Savilla. This book deals with some heavy subjects like second chances at love and being able to move on. I really enjoyed getting to know the characters even better and really feel like she matched Laura and Allen together perfectly. I’d love to see Rudy find someone, as well as Mark. I know I’m alrea looking forward to reading the next book, as Amy Clipston is rapidly becoming one of my favorite authors. I’m just flat out addicted to her writing!

I did not think I could enjoy another book more than Room at the Table, the first in this series, but Room on the Porch Swing proved me wrong. Room on the Porch Swing kept me up through the night reading Laura, Allen and Molly's deeply touching story. Amy Clipston creates characters with such depth and in such a descriptive way the reader can truly imagine being right there with the characters. Laura is someone I would enjoy having as a friend, as is Kayla. It was awesome to see how Kayla and Jamie's relationship continues to flourish, and how Jamie and Laura's father continues to cope with the sudden and untimely passing of their mother and wife. As Laura and little Mollie form a deep and special bond while Laura cares for Mollie, Laura is continuously caught between her need to help Allen and Mollie, and the resentment from her fiancé Rudy regarding the time she spends at Allen's home. This story will hold the readers' attention until the very last word.

I absloutley loved the cover of this book and I went in hoping the store would blow me away. I for some reason felt the story took so long to get to the point and dragged on I wish it would have went a little fast. The characters were lacking. Wish I would have a little bit more connection to the!

A follow up to A Place at the Table, this book features Jamie's sister, Laura, and her venture through grief. Having lost her mother and best friend, she sets her heart to doing good for others, only to find herself losing her heart and then losing her focus. She has to come to terms with her feelings, and there is a bit of a love triangle involved as well. To be honest, I wasn't sure how it would end up...which suitor she would end up with...but the story ends well. Your heart breaks for the main characters all the way through the book. I look forward to the final book in the series, and seeing which characters we catch up with next!
