I think I'd have preferred if the author had released all of these novellas as one short novel because I found it really hard to connect to the characters in this format.

This was a quick read and I was annoyed because just as I was getting invested, it ended, but not in a way that had me aching to read the next instalment.

I liked the characters well enough and sometimes Brent endeared me to him but I didn't feel like kind of chemistry I wanted out of this (especially because it was so short).

I also wish the mystery had been more suspenseful. I found it really predictable. I wish I had enjoyed this more.

I should start off by saying that I have not read any of the previous books in this series. That being said, I was easily able to jump right into Janie and Brent's story. Hidden Fate is a fast paced and thrilling novel. It hits the ground running and will have you captivated the entire time. I loved the game of cat and mouse. I enjoyed trying to figure out who was after Janie and who the "gentleman" was. I loved the multiple points of view. I think it really added to the thrill and mystery of the story. The suspense kept me on the edge of my seat and the ending left me begging for more! I can't wait to get my hands on the next novella and see how their story is going to play out.

This second novella has Janie still investigating the kidnappings and murders that happened at the club where she was working undercover until she fell in love with a suspect and was fired by the police department.

Wealthy Brent Taylor was cleared of the charges through the use of DNA evidence. Now his main goal is protecting Janie who is still the target of someone who wants her dead.

The assassin who was assigned by The Gentleman to kill Janie is having too much fun trying to scare her by sending her dead roses and threatening poetry and trashing her apartment. He did make a mistake by leaving some DNA but his is not on file.

In her personal life, Janie and Brent and falling in love. She's ready to move with him to Washington, DC, as he serves on a government committee. Thinking they are safe house hunting in DC, they learn they are wrong when the assassin sends pictures of the two of them in an intimate moment in their hotel suite.

This is definitely the middle novella in a trilogy because it ends on a major cliffhanger. While the readers knew who the assassin was, the good guys just find out when Janie is kidnapped from a police picnic.

Continuing on with the mini-series of novellas leading up to the new Broad series. I hate cliffhangers, so I'm glad that I have all three of these novellas to read. Janie and Brent are now together and are trying to outwit Janie's stalker. I'm a little disappointed in Janie's character. I feel like she should be more alpha being that she's a police officer. I want to know who the Gentleman is!

Janie has been fired from the police for getting involved with a suspect. Brent was a suspect in women’s kidnapping and a murder but was cleared. Now the killer is leaving Janie death threats and she moves in with Brent. The killer knows too much about Janie’s movements and follows them to D.C. where they are moving to in a couple of weeks. When an explosion occurs at a picnic, Janie is taken by the killer. Can Brent find her before it’s too late?
Cliffhanger. Short. Suspenseful. The second in this series. Can’t wait for the next one.

Tara Thomas has lured me deep into her new world of fiction. Dark, enticing, and suspenseful scenes keep me intrigued. This novella gave me more background into some of the characters from the main novels. I love that. Romance, danger, and risks can be found in this exciting read. The characters were easy to like. It is official, I am now addicted to this fast-paced novella. Hidden Fate is a must read for all.

Hidden Fate continues after Shattered Fear as Brent and Janie try to discover who is after her and work towards a life together. It's a gripping tale filled with mystery as Brent and Janie cement their love while trying to thwart a killer.
I'm so glad to finally get my hands on this story. I've been hanging out to see what happens next after the way the previous book ended.
I think I fell a little bit more in love with Brent here as he continues to be caring, supoortive and protective of Janie. I know he's simply a man and he's not some brawny military man or anything like that, but there's something about a decisive, protective man of means that gets my heart going pitter-patter. I loved how he tries to take care of Janie and protect her, even when she's the one who is the copy and perfectly capable of looking after herself.
There's something about Janie I really like. Perhaps it's the fact that she's a competent, capable law enforcement officer, dedicated to her job, but also feminine enough and delicate enough to require support and help when things get tough. I liked that she didn't feel she needed to tough it out when she was scared and fearful of her life, that she felt she could let go and lean on Brent when he was there to offer support. I liked that even though she was a trained cop and capable of looking after herself, she was smart enough to be wary and careful with a killer after her. She wasn't reckless with her life and didn't do anything to endanger herself. Sometimes, it's smart to be scared because then you're careful, and when you're careful, you stay alive.
This story ends with a bang - quite literally, and I can't wait for the next installment of the story to finally find out what happens and how Janie gets out of the bind she's in.

Hidden fate by Tara thomas.
Janie Roberts is no longer a cop. After getting fired for interfering after being suspended she won't stop until she closes the case. Who is it? And are they working alone?
A fantastic read. Had my suspicion as to who it could be? Can't wait for next part. Highly recommended. 5*.

Still feel the story is moving to fast, the main characters fall in love and I really don’t see how, there is no build up to their romance and it doesn’t come across as a particularly passionate relationship but they are going moving to another state together? The suspense in the story is good just not a fan of cliffhangers in such short stories
