Coulter and Ellison deliver a compelling and intriguing story in their Brit in the FBI series featuring Nicholas Drummond and Michaela Caine. In this installment, their Covert Eyes team has been called in to investigate why a number of world leaders have died in a very short period of time. Their investigation leads them to the world of Dracula with a modern twist. The two storylines overlap as the team learns who is responsible for the assassinations.

It is clear that the authors did extensive research on Dracula’s origins as well as modern technology regarding warfare and drones. Add to the mix, knowledge of the current political climate made for a complex read. The opening chapters were a bit choppy but the story does come together within a few more chapters.

As the title implies, the book takes place in just a week’s time, which adds to the urgency of the situation. There are many highs and lows, twists and turns to keep the reader engaged. I like the series though I did find elements of this book a bit more far fetched than usual.

Fast paced as usual. It's always fun reading Coulter's FBI series. A quick , edge of your seat, ride.

Interesting story line and one that truly makes you think of what could potentially be possible. As always, the authors have mastered the characters superbly to provide full pictures to the readers.

Gallery Books and NetGalley provided me with an electronic copy of The Sixth Day. I was under no obligation to review this book and my opinion is freely given.

The Covert Eyes Team including Nicholas Drummond and Michaela Caine are asked to help investigate a rash of high-profile and suspicious deaths of major political figures in Europe. When the investigation points them in the direction of Roman Ardelean, a wealthy decendant of Vlad Dracul III with an agenda that includes helping his ill twin brother, will the team be able to stop him before the City of London suffers horrible consequences?

The Sixth Day builds to an exciting conclusion, but it simply takes too long to get there. The authors get bogged down in the details of the ancient Voynich manuscript and Ardelean's obsession with his family's history. The book becomes repetitive and I found my interest waning part way through. The Sixth Day would make a good movie, as all of the little details would have a place in making the film complete. Although it was not the book for me, I cannot deny the fact that both the story and the characters are fully realized. The Sixth Day is designed for a particular audience in mind. Readers who are fans of the series will like the book, as well as those who are interested in novels that include ancient lore.

The Brit in the FBI series has proven that "spinoffs" are not just for TV. My whole family reads Catherine Coulter books. The only arguments we have are who gets to read them first. This book continues the tradition. The characters are real, solving real crimes. If you read the FBI series, you need to read these.

I've enjoyed the Brit in FBI series but this wasn't my favorite. The storyline was a bit too far fetched for me. Even though this wasn't my favorite, I'll still keep reading the series.

The Sixth Day is the fifth book in the A Brit in the FBI series. This can be read as a standalone. There is violence. This time the book is set in England. While the team is supposed to be taking a vacation they are impacted by events that cause them to go into action. This is an interesting book and series. It is worth reading.

Nicholas and Mike are on holiday in England when things start to go awry. Well known figures are killed, there are drones and it all links in to an obscure manuscript. Throughout the book there are detours into "history" of the Voynich manuscript. Nicholas and Mike face down death multiple times and there is the hint of the unusual or paranormal that makes A Brit in the FBI series so fun to read.
It's a diverting read. I make no call as to whether any of the details are scientifically or historically accurate. This is a bit of a thrill ride with some of my favorite characters. The story introduces a different idea for where the story of vampires originated. The Brit in the FBI series always includes something that may be a little hard to believe.

A corking good thriller, this seems to be a bit of a crossover among the authors' series. It borders on hard scifi, exploiting computer weaknesses and the latest advances in drone technology, adding a hint of paranormal (Dracula, anyone?). The action alternates between modern and historic times, offering possible explanations for the confluences of events. Like the best villains, ours is larger than life and truly thinks his motives are noble and for the greater good of mankind as he descends into drug-assisted megalomania. This is not the spoiler you might fear since you'll have to meet a number of candidates for this position and there are a few twists and turns to keep you on your toes. Well written and fast-paced, with likable heroes and a great sense of teamwork.

I loved this book! I was on the edge of my seat through the whole book. Nicholas and Mike, Adam and the whole crew were amazing unraveling clues to the mastermind behind it all. I loved the fast paced tempo of the book, this book is a must read!

Mistakes were made. I saw that J.T. Ellison was a coauthor and requested it right away, not realizing that The Sixth Day is the 5th book in the Brit in the FBI series. I tend to like to read in order, but I find that if the story is well done, I don't mind not knowing some of the nuances from the backstory. The Sixth Day was just such a book! Wow- was there a lot going on here! I really liked the writing and found that it was easy to catch up. Major political figures are dying, and at first it looks like it's from natural causes. (It's never from natural causes). I loved the character of Dr. Isabella Marin, an expert in twin language and the Voynich Manuscript, a book that cybersecurity genius, Ardelean, desperately wants. Dr. Marin and the whole story reminded me a bit of Dan Brown's Angels and Demons. I enjoyed the original story, the writing, and that the seemingly unrelated topics came together in the end and left me with my heart pounding. Now I'm tempted to go back and read the rest of the books in the series!

I won't be giving a review on this book, I have enjoyed Catherine's books for years and have thoroughly enjoyed them all but this one was a struggle to get through.

I usually post a review because I know a lot of work goes into writing a novel, but if I can't give it more than 3 stars I won't post one online and it would be hard to even give this one, 1 star. I'm pretty open to a good twist in a story, in fact I love them but Vampires??? Come on, I gave up on that fantasy when I hit adulthood. Sorry, Catherine and J.T. but I know you can do better.

Looking forward to Paradox and hoping it will be as spellbinding as usual.

I normally love Catherine's books and can barely put them down. This book was a bit of a harder read for me. It seemed it had a lot of details especially with the flashbacks to Romania that were really hard to keep track of. It was almost to many details. I also didn't really love the plot line of the twins and the magic of the long lost book that could miraculously heal the sickly twin.
What was interesting was the plot line of a drone army! I had never thought about how drones could be used to kill people or start a war. It was fascinating to me and also slightly made me never want to step outside my house! It wasnt my favorite catherine coulter book but I will keep reading her books and the Brit in the fbi series!

I have only one disappointment with this book: Why didn't I find this series and this author earlier!!!????

I LOVE this genre of good guys vs. bad guys, crime fighting, and intimate stories with how the good guys (FBI, CIA, MI5, MI6, or any secret crime fighting unit) catch the bad guys.

This series is about a cooperative effort between FBI and MI5 to solve a cyber crime. Oh yeah, and the central characters are a man (super cyber sleuth and progreammer) and a kick-ass crack-shot, butt-kicking woman, who is also brilliant! There are all kinds of cyber warriors and sleuths and other smart people in this book.

Ultimately, it is scary scenario of what could go wrong in the digital world and how new technologies could endanger the world. In this day and age, who wouldn't bristle at having to go back to snail mail in order to communicate????

If you like smart, snappy modern day thrillers--then you will love this book!!!

Catherine Coulter and J T Ellison have teamed up to write The Brit in the FBI series, all bestsellers. The Sixth Day is the fifth installment. When important political figures begin dying mysteriously, Nicholas Drummond and Michaela Caine are assigned to the case, and are pitted against a ruthless mastermind who is trying to save his dying brother and will stop at nothing to do so. Roman Ardelean is a cyberspace genius and is making deals to sell drones to foreign countries for less than lawful motives. As is Coulter’s style, there is an element of the supernatural, and in this case ties to Dracula.

Anyone familiar to Coulter and Ellison will know that they are master storytellers; the novel is well-written, well-organized, and has enough twists and turns to keep readers on the edge of their seats. Suspense builds throughout, and while readers know who the murderer is, and how ruthless he is, there are also surprises, especially at the end. The authors are skillful when it comes to balancing the good and bad that happens in the story, and the characters have been developed to the point that they seem like old friends. Favorite characters are put in danger, and may not survive.

Although some of the scenarios in the book seem a little far-fetched, they are incorporated into the story in such a way that they are actually believable. This is fiction, after all, and the authors have expertly made the story plausible.

Catherine Coulter fans will love this book. J. T. Ellison fans will love this book. Anyone who appreciates a good thriller will love this book. Bottom line: everyone will love this book.

Special thanks to NetGalley for supplying a review copy of this book.

Very fast paced and an enjoyable read. This is the fifth in a series and having not read the others I was a little lost in the backstory but will definitely go back and read the others!

Found "The Sixth Day" quite intriguing. It's timely with all the focus on drones these days, and I liked all the action being set in England. The opening chapter quotes were a little distracting and didn't seem necessary, but otherwise I enjoyed the book and especially the great characters.
