Another quick good novella by Ms. York in her Decorah Security series. Got to love them werewolves. Knox is an interesting character and Maggie is as well. It was a little hurried plot wise but it didn't take away from the story. Nice job. |

Knox was a wolf shifter and knew he was being followed. Then he was told to turn around with his hands in the air. Knox had smelled something wrong in the woods where he had went to spend some wolf time. He should have called for backup as he was the new member of Decorah Security and was a P I but instead went off on his own and now had been caught. His cousin Cole got him involved in the agency that believed in using shifters talents and Knox liked that. He was brought to a shack and put in a tin shed and the sick smell of drugs was in the air. Then his captors had put some drugs in a gas form and Knox had thought they were poison but started to hallucinate. He returned to wolf form and when one of his captors opened the door he took off toward the woods they did manage to shot him in his thigh but it went straight through. He was lying on the ground when a women came up to him. Hse was camping and her name was Maggie and she helped Knox and took care of his wound. He still had problems with hallucinating and ended up getting her off because he said they needed sex magic. Then Knox came to and was ashamed but Maggie told him not to be they they had sex but then his captors were coming one was Maggie’s brother Campbell. Maggie covered for Knox as he took off out the back of the tent and Campbell took her with him at gunpoint. I enjoyed this novella but I would have really liked if it had been a full length book. Things happened so quickly and in this case they did feel very rushed yet I did enjoy the novella. I loved Knox and Maggie together. I also loved that the company used shapeshifters talents. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this novella and I recommend. |
The Decorah series has quick reads with werewolves, telepathics, mystery and romance. Each book stands alone but the characters will return. Here we have Knox, new to the team and very eager. He stumbles upon something he only planned to photograph but ends up as a test subject. He has an instant connection with his rescuer and realizes she could be more. If you enjoy the paranormal, quick reads and a bit of romance these are perfect for you. My copy came through Netgalley. |
3 1/2 stars out of 4 Hollow Moon is a novella story so the details are cut short and the story moves fast. The author has a lot of cover in a short amount of time that might leave some reader scratching their heads as the story ends. Its a basic human\Werewolf stumbles on drug lab gets caught and is now the test subject for he new designer drug. Nothing really new to keep readers captivated. Thank you to Netgalley doe the advance copy for my honest review. |
Knox is quick to go off and try and prove himself to his new colleagues @ Decorah and his cousin. So much so he stumbles onto a drug ring and whilst trying to get evidence, he is captured and dosed with the very drug. When he manages to make a break for it he stumbles to safety and finds Maggie. Maggie is a nurse trying to get away from family troubles. She has always preferred being out in the wilds but she has never came across a half mad, injured, nude man before! With the drugs doing a number on his noggin, Knox is coming up with some absolute rubbish but underneath it Maggie can sense he has her best interests at heart. But when her family is established as being involved can Knox get them both to safety? Maggie is a very compassionate lead character. She'd help anyone who needed it, even when they are clearly under the influence of something. Knox is just so eager to please! I have to admit there was a laugh or two at his expense and his "way out there" visions whilst under the influence of the drugs. My only gripe was it was far too short and as such it was a wee bit hurried but I'd love to meet these two again! |

This is a novella, and therefore can be expected to have decreased character development and less of a plot. This, however, felt very choppy and the characters were shallow. |

I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review. Werewolf and new PI Knox goes off for some wolf time, time to let his wolf run that is!, and stumbles upon a drug lab out in the country. He attempts to get closer but gets caught and is held hostage and used as a guinea pig for the new "designer" drug. He does manage to get away and is found by Maggie, a nurse vacationing and camping. She finds the injured man, who was shot while escaping, and cares for his wounds. Knox is having hallucinations from the drug though so all she do is try to keep him calm. When he is lucid again, he explains what happened to him and they plan on leaving to contact law enforcement. Later, when Knox is resting in the tent, they get company and he recognizes one of the voices as the man who held him and now he discovers that Maggie is the man's sister! Can he trust her? Is she involved in the illegal manufacturing of drugs? Did she not feel the chemistry he felt?? Maggie is then taken by the brother who doesn't care who he uses to get rich and that is what this new designer drug will do! He has had many schemes, usually illegal, over the years. Knowing his fellow PI's have different abilities, Knox tries to contact them psychically and though faint, it works. He needs help. Can Maggie be saved? He is out to the test when Maggie is injected with the "drug". The book was pretty good although it is a novella and novellas tend to skimp on the story. I thought Maggie and Know were good together though. |

Knox is heading home, and stops when he finds something suspicious. Turns out it is a drug making operation, but instead of getting help he tries to find out if he can get a photo. When he gets caught and imprisoned, he is given a dose of the drug, which causes hallucinations and also heightened sexual desire. As a wolf, he changes and makes his escape, but not before being shot in the leg. Maggie, a nurse, is camping out enjoying the wilderness, when she finds a naked Knox passed out nearby. She dresses his wound, and helps him into the tent where they promptly have sex. A little fast, although they blame it on the drug. The story had potential, and I did like the characters. What I didn't like was how fast things happen, and her quick acceptance of him as a wolf. Typical speed with a novella, but still, a bit more detail would have made a more enjoyable book. Would still recommend though, especially if you've read others in the series. |

This is a quick novella that has Knox, a werewolf shifter with Decorah Security, in the woods when he notices an odd smell that he grabs his camera to investigate further. Before long he realizes that he could have made a better choice.... Then he meets Maggie, a woman who stirs him to distraction, but whose role he is uncertain of. This is a sexy quick read that fans of the genre will love. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, however I wish there had been more depth to it to further develop Maggie and Knox's relationship. Put this one on your TBR list. The author is on my must read authors' list. |
