This book truly took on a snowball effect. The characters were cool, calm and collected through the beginning of the story. Everyone was happy and loving life after the conclusion of book #1. Except Judith. She quietly let it be known to the reader that she was still in waiting. Waiting to find her family. She did her best to wait on God's timing as well as Caleb's, the lawyer who was to help her connect with Mrs. Witley. Once a connection was made, the happiness of the characters began to unravel, and things started picking up. The family was none too happy (except Mrs. Witley) to see the newest family member. Ultimately things continued to build and eventually explode. The author not only used circumstances erected by the characters but also natural disasters to bring out the glory of God. It bever gets old to see things work out for Good. The ultimate power of God. As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good in order to bring about this present result, to preserve many people alive. Genesis 50:20 NASB |
I love Tracie's books and this on is no exception! I love how she does her research that goes into each and every book! The facts about the story at the end are wonderful too!! What I liked about this particular story was that Judith was calm, cool, and collected through her rough times and her strong Faith was remarkable!! I loved that the setting took place around 1906. I think I would love to live around that time just to see all of bc the exciting changes that makes today's world what it is! I received a complementary copy from Netgalley. No compensations were received! |

The second in the Golden Gate Secrets series takes the reader to historical San Francisco. Judith is trying to find her aunt to explain her mother's mysterious letter. Camri's brother Caleb will help in the search and become an important part of Judith's life. Kenzie, Camri and Judith's special bond is heart warming throughout the story. Recommended! |

In Dreams Forgotten is the second book in Peterson's Golden Gate Secrets series. It is set in the early 1900s San Francisco. In the first book the mystery of Camri Coulter's missing brother is solved. This book focuses on the search for Judith Gladstone's aunt and any other living relatives that she and her friends could locate. Their search has unexpected results and consequences, ones that will take readers by surprise and keep them engaged with the story. Judith's search is not limited to her family, she is also searching for God, His will, and a closer relationship with Him. Camri's brother, Caleb, becomes her mentor on this quest, and they discover a relationship growing between them as well.
Tracie Peterson's books always provide an entertaining read. She develops characters that charm their way into her readers' hearts. Peterson includes Christian insights in a way that compliments the story without ever appearing forced. I thank NetGalley and Bethany House for providing me with a copy of In Dreams Forgotten in exchange for my honest review. I was under no obligation to provide a positive review and received no monetary compensation.

I’ve read many of Peterson’s books, but this one felt different. Or rather made me feel different. I appreciated the difficulties Judith dealt with in learning of her history, and the juxtaposition of one character falling in love at first sight while the other is slow to realization. And I didn’t feel like I was being constantly bashed over the head with the Christianity of it all, which is how I felt reading some of Peterson’s early books. I can’t wait to read the next in the series! |
I loved getting to hear Judith’s Story and then seeing her find the information she had been searching for. I don’t want to give away anything about her story or how it plays out. It was a good book! I can’t wait for the next book! Enjoy! "I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley on behalf of the Publisher and was under no obligation to post a favorable review." |

In Dreams Forgotten is the second book in the Golden Gate Secrets by Tracie Peterson, and tells the story of Judith Gladstone. It could be read as a stand alone novel, but the character development would suggest reading book one. The series devotes one book to each of the three girls. Judith comes to San Francisco to discover her possible lost family by tracking down her last known relative and is aided by a lawyer, Caleb Coulter. An unexpected discovery turns her life upside down and challenges her way of life and her values. Will Judith find happiness? Will Caleb realize that Judith is in love with him? Will their relationship withstand this new set of challenges? Peterson has once again intrically weaved romance and mystery along side historical events like San Francisco' s earthquakes into a bingable tale. I liked this book even better than the first. |
