Really enjoyed this book. I have read some of the authors other books but this one sticks out from the rest. He has a great way of communicating his thoughts in such an easily digestible way and really makes his points sink in.

Supernatural Power For Everday People Is such a wise book. I would even say an authority on just what it says, getting everyone to find the Supernatural Power for everyday people. It is amazing how He kind of - forgive me y'all -dumbs it down - I Appreciated it - and it touched me to my soul where I needed it. I found myself crying because I found I needed it, and so will you.

I've always had a bit of a struggle coming to terms with what the Holy Spirit is all about. Sure, God and Jesus I get but the Holy Spirit... not so much. I often find the descriptions a bit too esoteric and vague and, well, spirity. But this book gives me something to understand, and to hold on to. It made me aware that everything I need is right there in front of me; I just need to be more aware and intentional.

This is a good primer on how not to privatize your faith. It seems that the drive of the book gets a weaker towards the end, which is an issue that plagues most books that are published nowadays. Beginning with a story was very captivating though, and the author makes several points which ought to be made in the discussion on finding significance in the ordinary.

Jared C. Wilson has written another insightful book about God's divine plan for our lives, this one dealing directly with the Holy Spirit's impact and guidance.

Don't let the title of this book scare you. Rest assured that Wilson sticks to the Bible and ties all of the lessons and examples in this book directly back to scripture. Wilson proclaims, "If we want to participate in the truly supernatural life in this earthly world, we have to stop looking for earthly solutions to our problems." He is talking about the power of the Holy Spirit, the very presence of God himself in our lives. I like that Wilson is careful to remind readers that the Holy Spirit is not a "thing" that can be tapped into and unleashed, like some Christians and even pastors believe, but rather an actual being. The Holy Spirit is the third person of the triune God. He is omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent. It is imperative that we understand the Holy Spirit is commissioned by the Father to glorify the Son and apply the work of the Son to the lives of believers.

This book will enrich your understanding of the Holy Spirit, illustrating the gifts that God provides through Him. These Spiritual powers are accessible to all believers at all times. At the end of the book Wilson provides an interesting discussion of the prosperity gospel and charismatic gifts.

I would recommend this book to all Christians, new and mature. New followers of Christ especially will find this book helpful in explaining who the Holy Spirit is and how He guides and impacts our lives. I received this as a free ARC from Thomas Nelson on NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
