This is a great book. Once I started reading this book I didn’t want to put the book down until the end. I can’t wait to read then next book by this author. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader’s copy of this book. The free book held no determination on my personal review.

I really liked parts of this book it's very in powering but other parts of the book dragged on forever and a day and other parts when way to in defend about her sex life I mean I do understand why she talked about it but that felt like the section on the book went on forever.

A fun read, I took a risk on a unknown.. Based solely on my intense love of the book "Furiously Happy" it was enjoyable and some ideas stayed with me.

I can't recommend this book highly enough! Rachel writes in a loving, no holds barred manner to remind readers that life is meant to be lived, experienced with passion, not trudged through. She admits that she isn't perfect and makes no apology for it.
Each chapter is titled after a lie we tell ourself, her response to it and steps she took it is taking to overcome that lie/habit.
Rachel's enthusiasm is infectious, her wit is sharp and this book has more passages highlighted then any other book that I have read. This is a book that I can see myself re-read and, quite possibly, discovering new tidbits that may not have been as applicable to my life previously.
I received an Advance Review Copy of this book from the author's launch team and netgalley. All opinions are my own.

I received a copy of this book from Netgalley.com and the publisher, Thomas Nelson, in exchange for my honest review. Thanks to both for the opportunity.

Mrs. Hollis has written a timely reminder that no one is perfect, least of all her. Social media swarms with "perfect" shots of people looking fabulous and doing wonderful things. As women, we can be hard on ourselves to match that level, as false as it is. No one can live up to a fantasy where nothing is real.

'Girl Wash Your Face' is filled with stories that will uplift the weary soul. Some are funny, some are sad; all are a reminder that only God is perfect and we can get through the day with His Grace.

I loved this book.

Hollis writes in a n honest, forthcoming manner, drawing the reader in and making you feel like you're sitting next to her on her living room sofa. She's a cheerleader, encouraging the reader... but also is tough as nails at times. Her real-life experiences open up dialogue that prompts the reader to realize how to capitalize on her own dreams. Would highly recommend this book to someone struggling to find their place!

Unable to review this book because the file for Kindle and Kindle app were atrocious- so bad that it was absolutely unreadable.

Amazing, life changing book! Love the honesty and raw emotion. It is the perfect empowering book for anymore but most especially women. I could not put it down once I started reading. By the end of the book Rachel Hollis is my friend. I want to sit and chat over coffee. She is a beam of resfreshing honesty, straightforward prose with a dash of humor thrown in. Cannor ecommend this book highly enough. It is a must read!

Rachel is sweet, honest, and direct. She gently pushes you to live the best self you can. She is like that special friend that kindly whispers, Girl wear your big girl panties. Buy it for yourself, buy it for your girlfriends

I liked this book but I did feel like Rachel was selling herself a bunch. That being said this book was a great reminder of things I should be doing but may have stopped for one reason or another. It is also a great reminder to believe in yourself and stop talking to yourself like you are a terrible person. This is a great book for someone in their early 20's because I feel like this is a time when you need a pick me up. You need confidence in yourself and to be reminded that you have gifts!

Girl, don’t even bother with this book....

I was so excited when I received an ARC of this book. I had been hearing amazing reviews and I loved all the quotes and videos Rachel Hollis was posting. Everything seemed so positive and inspirational. That was not the message I got from her book. Her book did have some inspirational quotes and positive messages, but the majority of the time it felt like Rachel only cared to discuss her glamorous life and job. As someone who has multiple chronic illnesses, I thought I would find comfort in that portion of her book. However, I found it to be too woe is me which is not my style. I had a difficult time forcing myself to read this book. Her book was very self centered with a sprinkle of humble bragging. I would suggest just reading the quotes that you see on your friends’ Facebook pages and move on. Don’t waste your time reading the entire book because it falls short. Two stars because some good quotes came from this book.

Overall, I enjoyed this audio book alot. It's always a good reminder that people are living real, messy, hard lives that aren't always accurately depicted on a blog or social media. Heartbreak happens to everyone...even Rachel Hollis. She is very down to earth and real which I appreciate but sometimes a little too bible-y for my taste. I liked the format set up with each chapter being a lie that we all tell ourselves and then she completely trashes the lie and its validity with examples from her own life. Hollis has another book set to publish on March 12, 2019 and I will definitely read/listen to it as well. Many thanks to Rachel Hollis, Netgalley and Thomas Nelson Publishing for the free ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Love love love Rachel Hollis and everything she has to say! I’ve been listening to both her podcasts (her individual one and the one she co-hosts with her husband) and that’s how I heard about the book. The book is just as good, and I feel like I’m having a conversation with a good friend every time I read a new chapter. I’m looking forward to her new book!

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for an ebook in exchange for an honest review.

I had not heard of Rachel Hollis before this book came out. When it did come out, I saw some friends had read it and it sounded like an inspirational read. Unfortunately, it did not resonate with me the same way. I found it to be overly preachy and cliched. I didn't find it inspirational and had to quit after she discussed how terrible her husband was to her when they were dating but then she married him anyway. That is not advice that I want to follow. Sorry - just not the book for me.

Two stars because I finished the book, I guess? But it was a struggle, because this book was one ridiculously obvious piece of advice after another. We’re talking “love yourself for who you are” and “set goals and work towards them” and “surround yourself with people who empower you.” At one point, I almost gave it another star, because Rachel seemed nice and likeable, even if her book screams “white girl problems.” But then, that star quickly went away when I read the whole chapter about how we should love people regardless of their race, sexual orientation, religion, etc. Who are these readers that she is targeting that need a whole self-help chapter to empower them to be inclusive? Is it the same set of readers who are “boss babes” at the MLM/pyramid scheme conventions she seems to frequent? At the end of the book, I don’t feel any more empowered; rather, I feel concerned at the sheer number of women who feel they need this book to inspire and motivate for change.

This books is everything I needed and more. I loved her motivating and encouraging words when it comes to getting yourself together. She offers zero excuses and tough love and I can't wait to read more by Mrs. Hollis.

This book is honest and no nonsense. From the drama club to shaving her toes I feel like Rachel is speaking directly to me at times. How many times have I started something and given up four days later? I loved that each chapter started with a lie and ended with the tips of things that helped her overcome that lie. I love the chapter about dreams and not accepting the “no’s” in life. If you’re overly sensitive, this book probably isn’t for you, but I really appreciated her honesty and the fact that she shared very hard stories. The chapter on sex was so brave and something many women, including myself needed to hear. This is real life. I usually take a while to read nonfiction books, but I could not put this one down and finished it in 24 hours.

I really can't get on with this book - I really wanted to like it but I found it far too smug an preach-y. As an atheist I also found the frequent references to Christianity really off-putting, but that's just personal preference. I've read so many amazing self-help books that are inspiring and motivating but I found this as neither, it read a little "I am amazing and this is how you can be like me" and I just don't get on with that as a concept.

It was hard for me to enjoy this book.

At some points, this book spoke to me and I could compare my fears and anxiety with some of Rachel's but quite often I found that a lot of Rachel's problems were white privileged dilemmas I couldn't relate too.
Before this book, I was completely unaware of who Rachel Hollis was.
A lot of bragging was done here. I am sure it was meant to be motivational but I didn't take it that way. Okay, we get it you are a lifestyle guru, a motivational speaker, blah blah blah. So is everyone else in California, give me a break.

She bashes her husband’s behavior prior to them being married and I honestly don’t think it was necessary to add to her book. I am sure her husband was hiding when he read this.

Her timeline’s were messy and aggravating.

Religion is talked about quite frequently in this book which made me uncomfortable because I am not religious and do not share the same beliefs.

I spent a lot of time passing through her mommy talk, while I am sure a lot of mothers can relate to these struggles, these are not conflicts I have of my own.

*Note to self* Stop reading self-help books based on people you have no prior knowledge of it doesn’t ever end up well.

I started following Rachel a few years ago after stumbling upon her on social media...and then I was like WHERE HAS SHE BEEN ALL MY LIFE? Rachell is the cheerleader we all need in our lives. Scratch that, she is the cheerleader with wisdom, knowledge, humor, relatability, motivation, and heart who makes you want to be a better person!
The title says it all...and Rach lays it ALL out there. She tackles, one by one, the lies she has told herself (or others have told her) over the years and says: NOPE!
What makes this book so incredible is that the lies SHE has told herself, WE (women) have told ourselves. "I am not a good mom" and "I will never get past this" and "I am not good enough." There is a little bit of all of us in this book and the more you read the more you learn, these lies have no true purpose other than holding us back from being our very best selves.
Rachel breaks each lie down, one by one, chapter by chapter, of what is holding you back AND what the heck you can do to get through to the other side. She has experienced great loss, unthinkable pain, lowest of lows but she refuses to let it define her or stop her from going after what she wants. Through this book, you learn it does not have to define you either.
"Girl, Wash Your Face" more than just "a book", it's an experience. I can honestly say it has changed my thought process and in turn, my life and for that, I am very grateful. I can not recommend this book enough- I really believe it will make such a possible impact on anyone who picks it up. Thank you to NetGalley, Rachel Hollis and Harper Collins for a copy this exquisite book.
