This book is written simply, with matter-of-fact language and honest feelings. But within this context is a great depth and food for thought. Written through the eyes of John, the author traces the last weeks of Jesus' life, as portrayed in the Gospel of Luke. I started reading it well into Lent, and thought I'd start from the day of Lent that I was in (it goes through weekday readings), but I quickly became so engrossed in the story, and the voice of John that I had to go back and read from the beginning. The simple style is incredibly powerful and compelling, and the stories would be perfect for Christian meditation in the style of Richard Foster, as well as group discussion and individual reflection. Recommended.
