This is the first book I have read from Kylie Scott even though I have the rest of the books from the series on my kindle. The fact that I started this series backwards didn't spoil my enjoyment at all just made me kick myself for not reading her books before.

Once I started this book I was captivated and intrigued by the characters. Even though Eric was probably the type of guy you shouldn't like, I quite liked him. Even though he was a bit of a playboy and didn't handle responsibility well, he was quite a sweet guy. He was open and honest about what he wanted from women. I really enjoyed watching him grow and change once he met Jean. Good example of how a man can change for the right woman.

I loved Jean, she was so brave, sexy and strong. She had moved to a new town for a fresh start whilst pregnant. The chemistry between her and Eric was scorching but I did really enjoy the slow build up of it. Oh how I enjoyed every spark between them.

Once you see Eric with baby Ada, oh how your ovaries will weep and you will totally swoon. That gorgeous baby has him wrapped around her finger.

I really liked all the secondary characters too so I will certainly be diving back to check out their stories.

For me, Chaser is not a stand-alone book in the Dive bar series. There is too much going on from the previous book and I felt a little lost. What was up with Nelle and Eric's past? Why did they had to go down to that road? Also, what's up with everyone expecting a child? Nelle with Eric, Nelle with her man, Jean with her one night stand. There must be something in the water. What was up with Nelle? I don't think we ever got an explanation on why she was acting like Eric had peed on her cheerios. From the first 'till the last page she is almost abusive to Eric and I couldn't understand why. That's one of the reasons that made me feel like I had to have read the second book to understand what was going on in this one.

The story is told entirely from Eric's point of view and that was a bad thing for me since I hated the guy. That man is the definition of a manwhore and I couldn't for the love of what's holly to relate to a person who said that it had been a while since he had hooked up with someone and meant "almost a whole week". And that dude wanted a relationship. I was tired of having that dude think of sex all the time. His smaller head was leading his actions, while he used the big head to avoid Jean.

This story feels more like it was meant to show Jean and Eric's friendship with benefits rather than their romance. I was disappointed on that front. Yes, Eric helped with the baby, but then again so would half of the people in that bar. It was more like Eric and Jean had a one night stand, burned all their chemistry and then found out that they had a baby on the way and had to co-exist. I was not happy with the romance, but I did like the heroine and she saved the book as much as she could. It was too bad that we didn't get her point of view.

Chaser wasn't the book for me since Eric was chasing around instead of chasing Jean. It's my third book in a row (they ended up been six books in a row) where the couple ends up with a kid from a previous relationship and by that point, I was already tired of that plot. The timing was bad, but with a little twist, I could have been won over. The heroine was good and the hero wasn't. I wouldn't recommend this book and I would suggest to read a book from the Stage dive series.

I have been in love with Kylie Scott's writing since Stage Dive (Hey, Mal! Call me!), but I haven't really connected with the Dive Bar books UNTIL NOW!!
.
Eric is the typical bar-owning, bed-hopping playboy and takes a lot of crap from his friends because of it. And in typical romance fashion, it takes a good woman to make a man like that want to change. I truly believe Eric would have gotten to that place on his own, but there is something special about Jean. 😍
.
Chaser is more than I thought it was going to be. I knew Eric was a sweet talker and it was going to be fun watching him fall, but ooooh maaaan, this boy fell and fell hard. Eric and Jean had an amazing connection from the start and I loved seeing their friendship of ribbing and wisecracks turn into something more-- something beautiful. But let's be real, Ada is the real star here! I would recommend everyone read Chaser just for the Eric and Ada moments alone-- it will melt your freaking heart!

LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE! Another fabulous ending to a Kylie Scott series!

To date, I have yet to not finish one of her books or given any less than 5 stars.

Any who, if you’ve been reading this series then you know what Eric is all about. Late nights at the bar, finding a pretty girl to spend the night with and then do it all over again. Yep, typically hottie who can’t fathom the idea of being in a serious relationship.

Now that’s all about to change………. What he though was innocent flirting leading to a good night, was something he didn’t suspect. A pregnant lady…yup she is one of Nell’s friends and came up here for a fresh start. Oh, and she happened to move into the apartment upstairs next to Eric……

Eric didn’t try anything on Jean. Nell warned him to stay away from her. But there was something about her that he just couldn’t ignore. So Eric tried to be there and help her out in a friendly way. You know, carry the groceries, invite her to gatherings with friends. All the nice things people do for each other.

Then the whole friendship thing changed the day Jean delivered her baby girl. Eric couldn’t get them out of his head. He was there for them all the time and enjoyed bonding with them both. Then a simple request from Jean had turned things into a new direction. It wouldn’t be long after that, that they both get what they always wanted….Each other.

I’m sad to see this series end. I hope Kylie will release a new series super soon!

Kylie is one of my favorite authors – ever. In 2015, I was going through a lot and wanted to purposely get lost in books. Instead, I found a different part of myself in the world where Stage Drive Bar exists. Seven books later and I can tell you I love that world as much now as I did then. Chaser is the new book in the spin-off series of Stage Dive. I love it to pieces. Manwhore, sex goddess, redemption, true love, and patience all lay within the pages of this novel. Kylie is at her best. As cheesy as it sounds, she really is like a fine wine and just keeps getting better with every novel she puts out! This book should not only be added to your collection – all of the books should be – but it should be re-read and often! I know I will be doing that. I received an ARC for an honest review – that’s about as honest as I can get. I have nothing but good things to say about one of my amazing favorite authors! GO GET A COPY TODAY!!!!

This was my first book by Kylie Scott. It was such a sweet and swoony read.

I wasn't sure if I was going to enjoy it because for about the first 25% everyone bashed Eric. I totally got the point the author was making was that Eric wasn't the settling down type. But it felt slightly over done.

I did begin to fall in love with the story once Eric & Jean became friends. Eric with Ada just melted my heart. Chaser definitely left me wanting more and I can't wait to read the other books in this series.

4.5 Stars

Chaser is the third title in the Dive Bar series, and is although it can be read as a standalone, each title interconnects so I would highly recommend reading the previous titles Dirty and Twist. Chaser is a heartwarming and humorous friends to lovers story, that is told from the point of view of the male persona.

In the previous title Twist, Eric appeared as a self-centred, immature, bad-boy, womaniser, and I wondered how I would feel about him when it came to his story, as he wasn't all that endearing. I shouldn't have doubted Kylie Scott's ability to weave and amazing tale. Although Eric is far from perfect, and has a tendency to let his responsibilities slide, he redeems himself beautifully in Chaser.

When Jean a heavily pregnant woman, who also happens to be his neighbor enters his life, it's the catalyst for change. The spark between this pair is instantaneous and undeniable. As much as he fights the attraction he feels, it's a loosing battle. With the aid of Jean and her baby, Eric matures, grows and develops into a thoughtful, kind, caring, compassionate and sweet man! He develops into this endearing character, and we get to see what a wonderful man lies beneath his previously shallow exterior.

Whilst I would have loved to have experienced Jean's point of view, I loved the banter this pair shared. It was witty, fun, flirtatious and humorous full of satire and one liners that will have you laughing out loud.

If you've read Kylie's previous work you will notice cameo appearances from past characters within this title, and the previous couples from the Dive Bar series appear quite frequently within the story line.

I was completely captivated and enthralled by this sweet and fun read, and will be eagerly awaiting more of Kylie Scott's work in the future

As almost always happens with any book I ready by Kylie Scott, I loved it. We of course met Eric in the first two books, Dirty and Twist. And it was hard to like him really, at least with the way he was basically a manwhore from the way we got to know him, and what had happened between him and Nell. But this book is told all from his point of view, and that is kind of fun. You see, Eric is just not the sharpest crayon in the box. He's one of those sweet but kinda dumb guys. He had me laughing so much throughout the book. And what I knew about him from the first two didn't matter, because being inside his head really made him grow on me. While there were definitely some things that could cause drama, a pregnant female love interest, Eric's issues with Nell, possibly selling the bar and having to find a new job, this honestly was a pretty light, sweet story. And sometimes it is nice to end a series this way. It was cute the way it all worked out. Eric's abstaining from sex to prove that he could. The going through the bases, the way that Jean blurted out that she thought they should try being friends with benefits before they started that. All of those things had me smiling and loving this story. And as she so often does, my favorite book boyfriend of all time, from the Stage Dive series book Play, Mal Ericson, was in the story a few times. But it wasn't just Mal, all the Stage Dive band members were there, and it was so much fun catching up with all of them, but especially Mal. I loved this series. I don't exactly know what is next from Kylie Scott, but I can't wait to find out, and I can't wait to read it!

Chaser by Kylie Scott is a witty, fun, yet a delightful story. I love Kylie Scott's writing and this book is no different. I was completely devoured by this book and loved every minute of it. I couldn't help but love the story line. It was different and made it that much more appealing. Not to mention the characters owned the book. I loved how Jean was so determined and how no matter what everyone else's opinion of Eric was, she never let it doubt her judgement of him.

Sigh, Eric Collins. The man is an enigma all in himself. Eric is such a surprising yet stunning man. I couldn't help but be pulled to his character while he figured out what he truly wanted in life. So when Jean walks in and the chemistry sparks, you know you have one amazing book. Especially when Eric realizes that she's pregnant. What will become of their new found relationship?

If you enjoy a book that's so much fun to read, then you'll love Chaser. I couldn't turn away, it was such a good book.
I give Chaser by Kylie Scott 4 out of 5 STARS!

ARC kindly received in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this one! Eric was an awesome character and I really like getting to know Jean as well. I read the first book in this series, somehow missed the second, but then read this one. I do need to go back and read book 2, but this is my fave out of books 1 and 3.

I pretty much adored Eric right from the start. I get that he’s a player, and I get that he’s not seen as dependable, and I probably need to read book 2 in order to understand that a bit more, but the inner thoughts from his side, particularly when Nell was laying into him, really made me feel for him. I honestly wanted to slap Nell upside the head so many times!

Eric was a natural with Ada and was just so fitting with Jean. They were so easy together. I love a good friends to lovers story, and this one is pretty much that, because they take so long getting to know each other and being friends, before they finally realise what everyone else can see, about how they feel about one another.

This just had a really natural feel to the development of both of their characters and their relationship as a whole. They were both great, and I really loved Eric. His inner dialogue had me giggling to myself at times.

We also get other loved characters back in this one which of course is always fab.

Overall a fantastic and fast read, and I need to go back and read book 2. And looking forward to more from this series!

Eric Collins is a player, and, as part owner of the Dive Bar, he has plenty of opportunity to find women ready to have a fling without wanting a relationship. He’s a bad boy with a well earned reputation. However, he’s thinking that maybe it’s time to try for more . . .and he thinks the perfect candidate just walked into his bar . . . there’s just one problem . . .she’s pregnant.

Jean Antal needs a new start. She’s pregnant and needs a support system since her parents have been anything but. She decides to move to a new town to be closer to an online friend, Nell, who just happens to be another owner of the Dive Bar. The last thing she needs is a playboy hitting on her, even if he is a hottie.

Determined to steer clear of one another other than a friendly hello in passing, things quickly change when Jean goes into labor during a snowstorm and Eric is the only person available to come to her rescue. Eric is the rock and birthing coach that Jean needed. And, there seems to be a bond between them and the beautiful baby Ada, but will it be enough to turn the playboy into permanent relationship material?

This was my first peek into the Dive Bar series, and it can easily be read as a standalone. I’m a sucker for a bay boy turned good, and Eric fits the bill quite nicely. He really is a but clueless about what women want and how to be in a real relationship since he’s never really tried before. He also has a lot of people to prove wrong including his ex, his friends and even his own family. But, his love for little Ada shines bright and his feelings for Jean soon turn from lust and friendship to so much more . . .he just needs to convince her that he is in it for real.

Jean is an incredibly strong woman. She’s willing to do what she needs to in order to provide the best life she can for her baby. While she’s attracted to Eric, she’s afraid to get to close . . .especially since her friend Nell cuts him down at every turn. But, she can’t deny that he’s more than just a friend and seems to be everything that she and little Ada need.

I really loved watching their slow burn of a romance. As Jean struggles with being a single mother and finding a balance between motherhood and her needs as a woman, Eric is struggling with having real feelings that don’t involve lust for a woman for the first time in his life. It’s an incredible journey of emotional growth they both experience as individuals and as a couple. 4 stars!

She has done it again. Kylie Scott has come through for her characters. And this time was all around bad boy, fuckboy, and bartender, Eric Collins. Let me say that I wasn't too thrill of reading about him because watching him from other people's perspective, I didn't really like it, but now he grew on me. Eric deserved this and I'm more than happy that I read it.

If you have read the other books in this series, then you know Eric Collins and how of a pain in the ass he was before. But now he wants to do good and better. That is when SHE comes in, Jean. Pregnant and all, she becomes the reason he goes celibate. When the little baby girl is born, he freaks. But then he gets his head outta his ass and for then on is hands on. But you know, nothing is always that easy.

Eric reminds me of Mal, another character of Kylie Scott, but also I have him mixed with a character of Jay Crownover, Asa. Eric has this charm that makes anyone do whatever he is telling you to do. He makes anyone laugh at loud, but he is the person that deep inside he was to be truly happy. So when Jean comes around, he knows he is no good for her, but still, he wants. I think that the truly beautiful thing of Eric. He gives, gives and gives, but he also wants and Jean does not forget about it. She received so much from him that at the end, she just gives him everything he needs.

I have to admit that every scene in where Eric is with Ada, the little baby, I melted. It was so cute to see him talk to her as if she understands him. It was totally sweet to see that Eric was almost the only one that could calm the baby. And the whole chapter of Jean giving birth with Eric there was plain beautiful and hilarious.

Kylie Scott is an author that I really recommend, so the recommendation of this book goes without saying. Read it.

PS, I don't know why but while I was reading this book, I paired the song "Nothing Left for You" by Sam Smith with it. I just wanted to say that. Bye.

ENGLISH REVIEW

“- Quick, say something terrible, I get weirded out when you act all nice.
- You really do look like you swallowed Saturn now.
- That’ll do it.”

Erick is the classic boy that your mother warns you to stay away from him: long hair, tattoos, bartender and super womanizer, apparently sex is just a sport for him and women only the means to get pleasure. All begins to weigh when Nell (with whom he has some history, but now she is only his friend) tells him that he does not serve to have a real relationship with a woman and mature, something that hurts him in the ego because he does not feel that way.

Jean is a girl who moves to town and the first she meet is Erick, he starts to flirt, as he usually does, until he realizes that she is pregnant and out of reach.

After the night in which Jean enters in labor, in which Erik is her savior taking her to the hospital and being by her side throughout the delivery, they become big friends, he falls in love with the baby and obviously with Jean, but his great challenge is to show that he can be a material boyfriend and especially that Jean can see it with the eyes of something more than friend.

“Why couldn’t men just have babies? Surely that’d be easier tan watching someone you cared about going through this shit.”

The book is written from Erik's point of view so we can see how much it affects him that everyone tells him he is not a good man, how hard he strives to be one and how a baby changes him completely, from being a womanizer to be the best friend of the baby.

It also happens a kind of friends to lovers story that goes very slowly and you can notice with all the little things that he does for Jean.
There were parts in which I was angry that he was classified as a bad man, when he really had not proposed to have a relationship and when he did he was still judged without knowing how good he could be in it.

I give this book 3.5 / 4 stars because it suddenly became a little repetitive, but the story has moments that are worthwhile.

“- She is beautiful.
- She really is. Judgey as hell, but the gorgeous chicks always are.”

Life among friends and partners of the Dive Bar continued to flourish. The couples were forming, happy, pregnant. And in the middle there was Eric Collins.
Eric was the bartender. Womanizer, he had no problem having a beautiful woman to warm his bed, but upon seeing his friends happy, he begins to wonder about the life he had. Especially after his brother Joe used his profile to get online with Alex.

That's when a new friend of Nell's, Jean Antal, appears in town.
Jean and Nell had met online in a chat, and as Jean needed a place for a fresh start, she was delighted at how Nell loved Coeur d'Alene. She would then be Eric's neighbor.

The attraction Eric felt for Jean was instantaneous. But there was a problem. In fact, a problem that would appear in a few months: Jean was pregnant.

After a life without emotional responsibilities, would Eric be the right guy to have a romance with a woman and her new baby?

3.75 stars--CHASER is the third instalment in Kylie Scott’s contemporary, adult DIVE BAR romance series-a spin off from the author’s STAGE DIVE rock series. This is bar owner Eric Collins, and Jean Antal’s story line. CHASER can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary but I recommend reading the series in order for cohesion and back-stories.

Told from first person point of view (Eric Collins) CHASER follows the building relationship between thirty year old bar owner Eric Collins, and new comer Jean Antal-a twenty two year old, pregnant and single young woman who has moved from her home town in Jacksonville, Florida to start a new life in Coeur d’Alene, on the invitation of her friend Nell Hewson. Moving into the vacant apartment above the Dive Bar found our heroine face to face with one of the owners, Eric Collins, the man with whom Jean will fall in love. What ensues is the slow building relationship between Eric and Jean, and the potential fall-out as Jean considers moving back to Jacksonville Florida; and the ongoing turmoil between Eric and his business partner Nell Hewson, a woman whose tirades against our story line hero are nothing less than venomous and rude.

Eric’s reputation as a manwh*re finds our hero the target of Nell Hewson’s countless verbal attacks; Nell’s constant berating and censure gets olds pretty fast for Eric as well as this reader but Eric and Nell’s history is rocky, at best. Eric is determined to clean up his act but the non-stop reminders of his previous reputation is disheartening as Eric struggles to move on from his past. Jean Antal just wants to start over in a new town, far away from her unsupportive parents. Befriending Eric Collins led to a familiar support system that allowed our heroine to survive the early days after her child’s birth. Falling in love was never on the agenda but the heart knows what it wants, against the advice of family and friends. With so many people warning Eric against hurting our story line heroine, it is a wonder he didn’t walk away, and start over himself.

The relationship between Jean and Eric is one immediate attraction tempered by Nell Hewson’s belligerent and constant belittling of our story line hero. With the help of the Dive Bar owners and friends but especially her friendship with Eric Collins, Jean’s life begins to flourish. The slow building romance is palpable; the $ex scenes are limited but passionate and seductive.

There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including Vaughn and Lydia (Dirty #1), Alex and Joe (Twist #2), Nell and Patrick, as well as Jean’s parents Leah and Will, and Eric’s mother Audrey; Eric’s best friend and owner of the building Andre, Dive Bar staff Taka, Rosie and Boyd, as well as the cameo appearances of the members of the rock band Stage Dive including fan favorite Mal.

The world building continues to focus on the family and friends at the Dive Bar including the acrimonious relationship between Nell and Eric, a relationship damaged by grief and loss. Eric’s growth and his maturity level blossoms throughout the story, a growth noticed by everyone but Nell. The witty, back and forth banter between characters is absent, something that is definitely missing from the last few stories-I miss Mal and his unfiltered antics, playful attitude and sense of humor.

CHASER is a story of friendship, love, family and heartbreak. The premise is intoxicating and inspiring; the characters are energetic and sassy; the romance is intimate and captivating. CHASER is an encouraging and uplifting story about two people finding love against the odds.

I really don’t know how she does it, but once again, Kylie Scott has blown me away. With a slow and steady build, we are given another incredible story with characters you can’t help but fall in love with.
I was interested to see how Eric’s story would go. I have to admit, I was quite impressed. Eric grows and changes so much throughout the story. And then you have Jean with a story of her own to tell and I couldn’t get enough. Not only were these two amazing on their own, but together they really shone. I love how they just brought out the best in one another.
But, of course this is a Kylie Scott book so you know these characters are going to be met with challenges and struggles. The anticipation of what could be, what would happen, how would things end up, kept me fully engaged. I was so caught up in Eric and Jean and along for the ride their story brought us on. This story felt so natural and relatable that I was lost in it. I’m eager to see where Scott takes us next!!

Chaser has it all, from feels to humor. It's a story about friendship, love and trust. Eric meets Jean, who walks into his bar one night. The two have a spark between them instantly. I loved watching these two fall for each other.

Chaser is the third book of a series. It *can* be read as a standalone, but I wish I had read Twist prior to Chaser. There were aspects of Eric's relationship with his friends that I just couldn't understand, and actions of others that didn't make sense until history was mentioned. Once I got the gist of the history that was there, it was a lot easier. Chaser was an evenly paced, well written book, even with the confusion on my part, it was impossible to put down. Jean and Eric are both strong and full of perseverance. The side characters were fun and interesting, I'm excited to go read their stories. I would recommend Chaser to the reader looking for a sweet single mom and a bad boy who wants to reform.

I really loved stage dive series if you haven't read it you definitely need to one click all of the books ASAP , this would be the first book I've read in the Dive Bar series and I know I'll be reading more in the future . The characters and storyline had me hooked to what was going on in the story itself and what was to happen to not only the mane characters but secondary ones as well . I can't wait to see whats to come for this author .

Chaser by Kylie Scott

What it’s about:

Love isn’t always NEAT…

Bartender and all round bad boy, Eric Collins, has come to a crossroads. It’s time to take life seriously and maybe even attempt to settle down. If only the person he was hoping to settle down with didn’t turn out to be pregnant.

Starting over in a small town, Jean is determined to turn her wild lifestyle around and be the kind of mother she always wished she’d had. Since local bar owner and all round hottie, Eric, is now determined to steer clear of her pregnant self, it should be easy. When she goes into labor during a snowstorm and her car slides on some ice, however, it’s Eric who comes to the rescue.

There seems to be a bond between them now, but is it enough? And can Eric give up his manwhore ways to be the man Jean needs?

My 411: It’s been a long time since I’ve had a new Kylie Scott book in my hands, and my love for her writing came rushing back as soon as I started reading. Going back to the Dive Bar series was like a homecoming. In this stand-alone of the series, we get a better glimpse at the psyche of the town bartender, Eric. Eric was always shown to be an immature character who has made some bad choices. The evolution of his character was the best part of the story! This is a slow burn of a story, and Jean’s introduction to the gang is quite an initiation. (See an interview on HEA with Kylie about Chaser.)

First of all, I would like to thank Kylie Scott and the InkSlinger PR team for this ARC.
Chaser is about Eric Collins, one of the owners of the Dive Bar and Jo’s brother (Twist). He’s the bartender but also the greatest womanizer of the band.
Undaunted by the constant remarks of her friend Nell, he decides to try a “real” relationship. The only thing he hadn’t planned was that Jean, his target, is his new neighbor and a future mother.
The following is predictable: they will try a friendship because they don’t intend to succeed anything else between them. Eric is convinced that he’s incapable of not hurting Jean and her daughter, as for Jean, she must manage alone her pregnancy and the baby’s arrival.
Like every book in this series, I’m always happy to read about this friends’ crew. Life isn’t easy for them, but these childhood friends form a united family and face the jolts with heart and passion.
Eric's character had been featured in Twist, his relationship with Jo and his night with Nell was in the midst of the previous book. Here we learn to discover what is hidden under the appearance of the bartender. We enter his head and we appreciate to learn that he’s less superficial than we thought.
Jean is a new character, coming straight from Florida. This young woman has the courage to leave her family to build a more peaceful future for her daughter.
I dreaded this book because the overview I had of Eric in Twist didn’t make me want to learn more about him. Unfortunately, I didn’t manage to go beyond my feelings. I found that Chaser lacked rhythm compared to the previous ones, the friendship between Jean and Eric long and heavy, the interrogations of the characters too represented. Their story is very beautiful, but it lacks spontaneity, surprise.
In brief, a tome in the lineage of dirty and Twist, with this crew who continue his way, but a love story that lacks a little spice and astonishment.
