Animal Mothers and Fathers is another in the Life Sciences collection by Mary Lindeen, geared towards early readers. There is an Earth Sciences collection also. As the title suggests, this book looks at animal moms and dads, and how they care for their young. Easy to read, with simple sentences, these books provide an excellent grounding in basic scientific concepts, at levels these young readers can understand and retain. In Animal Mothers and Fathers the need of young creatures, humans included, to be cared for by adults until they grow and mature. The babies are kept warm, fed, and protected. Mothers and fathers both will often care for offspring, and in some cases, social groups will protect younglings. The end of the book features a Connecting Concepts section with questions to ask about the reading, and practise with vocabulary and reading fluency. My cubs and I enjoyed reading this book.

This is a really nice book with some great images.
It is easy to read and understand and I love the section at the end of the book that gives the learning points. A great book to get younger children interested in learning about the different animal species. I loved books like this when I was young.

I love this book! I have a young son and I'm always on the lookout for new science and animal books for him. This would be the perfect addition to his collection. He can learn about many animals and how they take care of their babies.

This book looked very promising, but the ARC file that I downloaded contained only the cover and four pages, two of which had the same text but different photographs. Therefore, I am unable to accurately review the book. Of the scattered bits that I could view, the photographs looked outstanding. A gorgeous penguin family on the cover, a polar bear playing with a cub, an elephant elder and baby, and some cheetahs in the tall grass.

I would be happy to review the book completely if I were able to view it fully.
