Another book from an Aussie author! This book is also set in Sydney.

Little Abby was adorable, Enzo is awesome, Cami would make an amazing best friend (plus I really want to try her pancakes), and Ward and Kael are tied as my favourite male characters. Also, if Vanik could go fall off a cliff, I would greatly appreciate it. I'm sure a lot of character from the book would too.

The web of a family tree that Cami and Ward have was quite a twist and I wouldn't have guessed who was involved. Another twist was when we find out about Kael's family tree. Another one that I definitey wouldn't have guessed. Both of which do make sense in a way after you find out about them though.

Little Schrodinger was quite cute and the name was quite fitting for him too. I want to pet him on his little fluffy head!

Jane Doe's real name is quite pretty. I won't spoil what it is though.

About Jane Doe's parents? Wow. That's all I'm going to say.

Definitely recommend this book to anyone who thinks they may want to read it.

I NEED BOOK 2 NOW ALREADY. This book was so amazing and what made it better is it was written by a fellow Aussie and set in Australia. I planned to only read one chapter before going to bed to get an feel for the book and I ended up reading more than half the book. That's how you can tell how much I love a story.

I have heard this is very similar to shatter me but I haven't had a chance to read it so this story was completely new to me. I was gripped from the start and so much happened in this book but it didn't feel like it was over done. I loved the story line and the characters.

Jane Doe/ JD/ Chip/ Subject six-eight-four/ Alyssa was amazing in so many ways. Even with everything she has been through she is such a strong character and I love a strong female lead. She is a fighter and stubborn. She also shows her pain in this book that made me feel for her. Her fear when it comes to her ability I could believe.

Ward had me on a roller coaster ride. One minute I loved him and the next I hated him, then I loved him again. He is a very complex character and I hope to see a lot more of him in the following books. I think he will become a very much loved character by the end of the series.

I also loved Cami, Kael, Enzo and Sneak. Lynette Noni seems to create such lovable side characters and this book is no different. I can't wait to read more about them also.

Vanik I hate and I will keep hating him as well as Falcon. I hope they get what is coming to them I really do.

I ended up giving this book 5 out 5 stars and like I said above I need the next book now. Lynette Noni is an amazing story teller and every book of hers I read leaves me wanting more.

I was approved for the e-ARC of this book on Netgalley and it sat on my shelves for awhile... and then I decided to start it late last night.

BIG MISTAKE.

I didn't want to stop reading. I read it within the span of 24 hours and I just couldn't put it down.

This book is so captivating, the imagery, the characters, the plot and suspense. It is amazing. This book, on several occasions, made me burst out laughing. It was so enjoyable to read.

Another thing I really enjoyed was that it was written in first person POV, which is something that I really enjoy when reading a book. The majority of my favorite books are written this way.I have never read anything by Lynette Noni, but I am adding all of her books to my TBR.

So in short, I loved everything about this book!

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Young Adult fantasy, sci-fi, dystopian or super-natural reads.

Sarah J Maas blurbed this book so when I found this on Netgalley, I knew I had to read it. I admit that I found it difficult to take this book seriously since the beginning (mostly because of the writing). However, it continued to be somewhat interesting once I had gotten through 50% of my ebook copy.

If you’ve read other reviews to this book, you might notice some readers mentioning Shatter Me. In some aspects, this book reminded me of Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi. If I were to recommend this book, I’d definitely recommend it to fans of the Shatter Me series. Both main characters longed to see the world and they both experienced imprisonment. At the same time, the mc’s both had an implied love triangle especially when the mc referred to her captor as ‘captivating.‘ I know, I can’t believe it either. Stockholm Syndrome? hopefully not.

THIS IS JUST A SPECULATION AND NOT A SPOILER: There is no love triangle. However, if the love triangle does occur in Whisper #2, then the author could potentially create a power couple like Warnette (I know, it’s different now but let me live in the past). Again, there is no love triangle in Whisper. It probably depends on the reader’s definition of a love triangle.

Meanwhile, the antagonist in the story was laughable even the lines of this character seemed very juvenile. The lines of the antagonist did not match the age of the character. It was also one of those lines that seemed predictable. Unfortunately, it reminded me of the lines mojo jojo would say to the powerpuff girls.

Once I reached the ending, I realized how the book (overall) was like any other generic YA story. I’m not saying this is a bad thing but if you’re looking for something “new” to read, then I wouldn’t recommend this one. Overall, I was slightly disappointed on how the story went down. I just wanted more from the story since the ‘action’ happened later than what I expected.

A good fantasy/adventure novel, with a unique sets of powers I haven't seen anywhere else. There's a hint of romance, but not too strong, and some good characters. I'll be looking out for the rest of the series to get answers to the unanswered questions at the end, but at least it wasn't technically a cliffhanger so it won't eat at me while I wait for the next one! I liked the setting, as well; I don't read many books set in Australia. Hopefully the next one will feature more of actual Australia and not just endless corridors and underground rooms...

this book took me some time getting into but soon found myself eager to find out exactly what was going on with"Jane" and why she refused to talk.

this book falls into the hungervergent maze runner category, a young person trying to deal with what they have been handed with life.

I'm looking forward to the next book!

It has been a while since I read a book as quickly as I read this. I stayed up until 3 am to finish and don't regret a second of it It immediately draws you in as you try to figure out what is happening and why the main character won't talk. How can she be a part of a government experiment without having any idea what it is about? And the further you read the more it draws you in. I'm already waiting impatiently for book two of this series.

It´s not the thrilling book I was expecting. This story has been told before several times, Shatter me by Tahereh Mafi is a great example of how to talk about the special flake in YA science fiction and don´t die trying. The beginning was promising, though.

Whisper is about Jane Doe/Chip/Alyssa Scott. She is a teenage girl basically wearing a shapeless pillowcase who has been kept forcibly underground in their creepy facility. She refuses to speak and so she lives in a little cell basically like a prison and cannot wear shoes. Then a dashing man saves her from torture by allowing her to just read during these sessions. He cares for her after the doc goes a little too crazy and her brain feels mushy.

Her friendships are ultimately fascinating: and her eventual love triangle is hot! Love me the rebel love interest, his fathomless black eyes are hot!

Her powers are so cool as a Creator and her friendship with Cami made the book more light-hearted. Sarah J Mass rating it also helped.

Ultimately so glad I was given a chance to read this fabulous book. I am dying for the next one!

NA LoveOzYA SCI FI WINS AGAIN
I don’t know what’s in the water, but NA LoveOzYA Sci Fi has been killing it. At least the two books in that genre I’ve read haha. Just like THE UNDERCURRENT, WHISPER was a surprising and enjoyable read that I didn’t expect to get addicted to. It’s set in Australia which was a great bonus. My only complaint was that the writing sometimes told too much instead of showed, but that’s such a minor thing (and probably was more obvious because the book I read before this was A DARKER SHADE OF MAGIC)

IT DIDN'T ALWAYS TAKE THE DIRECTION I EXPECTED
When you read the blurb of WHISPER it sounds like a pretty typical sci fi/ dystopian when it comes to the evil organisation and such. And sometimes it was (which is fine, sometimes we all want a simple, easy to follow plot), but every now and then something would happen that I didn’t expect from a book like this. I loved being taken down a different road than usual.

A FASCINATING POWER
’m not going to talk too much about this because it is a potential spoiler, but the power Jane has is really fascinating. There are so many potential uses, so many different types. The possibilities are endless! I can’t wait for it to be explored more in the sequel.

I SENSE A POTENTIAL LOVE TRIANGLE AND I DON'T KNOW HOW TO FEEL ABOUT IT
There is no direct romance in this book. We get some very initial development of a potential romance that is incredibly slow burn (and I loved it!!!). However about half way to two thirds through a second guy is introduced who gives me “love interest” vibes. I could be wrong though. Who knows if this guy is even interested in Jane or girls in general, he hasn’t been in to it enough to tell yet. I just have the vibes.

LOOKING FORWARD TO MORE
After everything that was set up in WHISPER, I’m really looking forward to learning more of everything. The powers, the characters, the plot and world development. Lots more world things can be explored because of Plot Things and I’m excited.

IN SUMMARY
WHISPER was a book I knew I’d enjoy, but didn’t expect to find so addicting. There are many things that make it your typical dystopian/ sci fi read, but it didn’t always take me down the expected path. I cannot wait to see more of these characters and this version of Australia in the sequel.

When I saw this book on NetGalley I knew I have to read it, Why? First The title is so appealing, Second Sarah FreakingMass Thoughts on the title.

I didn't read any book of Lynette Noni before, I didn't expect anything from it, Just dived into it to find out and I didn't regret even for one page.

I love the story and Plot, world development was so refined It was easy to imagine it, It gave X-man/divergent vibes though but it is not a negative thing for me.

Jane Doe/684/JD/Chip/Alyssa Scott/Lyss haven't spoken in two and a half year, captivated in Lengard which is a secret Government agency, Everyone knows her by 684 or Jane Doe because she refuses to give them anything. Things started to change when Director Falon gave her warning that she is not co-operating enough and assign a new Evaluator to her, Landon Ward, is about her age and never ask her questions or experiment on her like the other Evaluators, Named her chip because he hoped one day he'll able to chip her self-imposed silent.

In her Lengard time, JD started to feel alive after meeting Ward, who shifted her in his home after seeing her horrendous cell where she is living for 2 and half years. JD started to feel alive living among Ward family, Cami his sister is one close to her friend in a long time and she is attached with their Aunt and her children Issac, Esther and Abby( who is a witty kid, her dialogues made me laugh). One day while saving Abby from an accident JD accidentally reveal her Speaker Ability which is so powerful for her to control.

Writing- I loved the writing, Writing was full of suspense and mystery, There were many twists and turns, I guessed a major one but still, there are too many unpredictable.

Characters- They are too many but well developed, everyone is too different to other yet too connected. 

I really like Kael Roscave, he is so natural but I am shipping for Alyssa and Ward. Cami and Abbey are also my favourites. Every character gave you different vibes. 

After reading the book I realised Title is so meaningful and writer used the name of the book many times which make sense.

I really enjoyed this one and would totally recommend it.

I want second book Now.

Before reading this book i had not read any of the authors work before and the description didn't really appeal to me. However, a few of my customers were looking forward to reading this book - so i gave it a go. I am so glad i did...this book is one of my favorites this year. I had two very sleepless nights finishing this book but loved every moment of it. I went from loving some of the main characters to hating them - to back to loving them again and i cant wait to read the next book in the series !

This book was DNF for me...it reminded me so much of the girl with all the gifts. That I had to stop reading, and check to see if I was reading the correct book? I mean it seemed identical to me. I tried to continue reading this I couldn't get with the book. I wasn't exactly trying to read another girl with all the gifts. The mc is tortured, abused, experimented on, then meets a seemly nice guy who works at the facility, now he's her shining knight but actually he's a dick. Why because he knew about the experiments, and didn't care until he had to deal with the aftermath....I will give this book another try at a later date.

Whisper is about Jane Doe. A young teen who has been kept at a facility underground, and refuses to speak. I loved the Sci-fi, I loved the local setting, i'm an Australian, so it was really fun to see some local landmarks and know exactly where the author was talking about.
I really enjoyed the relationships that Jane Doe eventually formed, especially with Cami. She was lots of fun and added a necessary distraction to some of the more depressing elements.
I found this book so hard to put down, it was enthralling, well written with great characters!
I can't wait to see where this story goes.

While it's easy to draw parallels with other series - X-men particularly - Whisper offers so much more than it might first seem.

Jane has been imprisoned at some sort of research facility for over two years. In that time, she hasn't spoken a word, and she's clearly traumatised over the death of her parents, the even that precipitated her imprisonment. However, there's more to this facility than meets the eye - and I don't just mean that it's buried in a very central Sydney location.

The characters we slowly got to know endeared themselves to me quickly, Cami in particular (plenty of readers will feel relief at having an advocate for the "just fricking talk to each other!" method of communication she so enthusiastically promotes). But mostly what I liked about them was the connection between them all - they felt like they were forming themselves into a new family.

I'm on board for the next book - this is a series, though this book absolutely works on it's own. Yes there's threads left undone, but something has to be to keep a series moving!

DNF

I don't think DNF is even an appropriate title, as I hardly started it.
Since it's not available for Kindle, I have been trying to read it on my laptop.
My laptop is crap. The pages freeze with every turn.
It really bums me out because this book looks really good. When it comes out for sale, I'll certainly buy the e-book.

I am left with two questions as I finish this book. The first is when can I read more? The second is why is this not a movie yet? I found myself being reminded of Hunger Games and the Maze Runner as I read this, two series I loved and sped through with vigor. I did the same with this book. I thought the beginning was a bit hard to get through until I figured out the writing, once I got that, I couldn't put this book down. I was captivated from the second chapter and as I finished it I realized that I just didn't want it to end. The characters were perfectly done, and the action just never stopped. I am completely in awe of this book and this author and I can't wait to see what happens next.

Loved this book! Having already read Lynette Noni’s Medoran Chronicles I knew it would be good, but I had to read it in one sitting.
I couldn’t put it down.

I wanted to like this more than I did. I just felt like in our current social culture, it was another you-don't-know-who-to-trust and everyone-who's-not-like-you-is-to-be-approached-with-caution and look-what-we've-done-to-our-world... I know that's what dystopian fiction is, but this wasn't unique enough to wow me. Noni did her best to make the reader flip flop as to 'who's to blame,' but it was too easy to figure out, which made me lose a little sympathy for our hero (victim?). I'm no longer a YA, so perhaps YA readers will enjoy the challenge more of deciding which side deserves their loyalty. Characterizations are diverse enough to get to know them as individuals - this is a plus. In spite of my critique of the thematic premise, the plot was interesting enough that I do plan on reading the next book in the series. My curiosity is piqued.
