Hot Pursuit is, what I'd describe as the "perfect trashy read" - a description that is not as derogatory as one may think. This is fiction that is so far-fetched that it becomes compelling, a page-turner that will have you reading in long stints. It's a beach read or a cosy in front of the fire read. It's escapism.
Some have been critical that it is neither romance nor mystery because neither genre is satisfied. That's true, but then I wouldn't put this book in either category.
Characterisation is cliched, location descriptions are accurate but, again, stylised. It doesn't matter. Loose yourself in this book for a couple of hours, suspend belief and escape the everyday.
With huge thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the copy for review.

Hot pursuit is one of those summer reads that makes you smile. Wildly unbelievable plotting that somehow, becomes acceptable with each page turned.
The author suggests, at the end of the book, that Sarah (her main character) kept her awake at night and quite frankly, I’m not surprised. She’s the epitome of adventure, stubbornness & strength any female wants to be. Humanly flawed and quite possibly, lovable.
A really silly romp around Europe with Sarah who’s done the training as a jorno but never had the chance to prove herself. Throw in the ruggedly handsome photographer, some awkward back story, heartache, a drug cartel & new beginnings and you’ve got your summer read all sewn up.
You couldn’t make it up........ hilariously, Rebecca Freeborn did!

I quite enjoyed this book. It’s a nice short romantic thriller. It’s perfect for a holiday read, or a train journey as it’s light reading but with enough plot to keep you interested.

Great holiday read. Easy to get into a chick lit book with a bit a of mystery which I enjoyed it made the book a little different from the usual rom com. It had twists and turns that kept me interested. Really enjoyed.

A good book with lots of twists and turns. Fun romance and mystery. Kept me interested till the end.

I really enjoyed this book. I read it on holidays in one sitting. Perfect holiday reading material, light and funny. I loved hearing of all the adventures.
Many thanks to Netgalley and Rebecca Freeborn for the copy of this book. I agreed to give my unbiased opinion voluntarily.

A great read journalist Sarah and photographer Nick go in search of a story which takes them to Europe and leads them into danger as they try and serch for evidence to uncover a serious issue as the story unfolds with lots of twists and turns plus the two of them having a shared past making it a real page turner for readers to enjoy i really enjoyed it

Hot Pursuit, Sarah falsely secures a hot story and heads off to Europe with Nick the photographer, her last and much regretted one night stand. Whilst still smarting from her break up with James (Nick's supposed 'best mate') she wonders whether they will ever get back together again and will Nick try his seduction routine on her again?
Part travelogue, part romance and an unbelievably silly plot. However, it was fun, did have a degree of manic pace and overall was entertaining.

wow what a book! Full of adventures, excitement, mysteries, this book is almost a detective story. I wasn't expecting a detective story at all! I was expecting a typical chick lit story full or romance but instead I was following Sarah, an Australian beauty journalist who travelled to Europe to follow a musician who might have killed a member of his band and to write a story about it. Sarah is traveling with Nick, the photographer of the journal, a very annoying guy who can't resist but jump on every woman on sight but who can be sometimes very lovely and very sexy. Actually even if Nick can be very annoying, I quite liked this character, I found him very funny and I would have loved to have more scenes with him. I would also have loved to have more romantic scenes in this book, but all in all, I loved the story, I read it very fast and I was totally hooked from page one to last page! What a book! I can't wait to read another book from Rebecca Freeborn! 4 stars out of 5 for me!

Thought this was a great read with the perfect amount of suspense, romance and humour! It felt like I was on the adventure ith Sarah!

A great story with some love, heartbreak, crime, mystery and humour all rolled into one book! Thoroughly enjoyed reading this and there were some nice twists to keep you guessing...

A great, pacy read. The main characters are well drawn and the helter-skelter ride around Europe in search of a missing rock-star is fun and gripping at the same time.
A perfect holiday read. More please!

Fun yet a bit far fetched for me. Easy beach or poolside reading. Not one to reread, but entertaining enough.

I enjoyed this tale of excitement and courage. The characters are well rounded and likeable. . The story kept me intrigued until the end and I enjoyed the spark between the characters. However I found the ending somewhat cheesy with inaccuracies and it felt rushed for me. Having said that it did not spoil the read and I would recommend it to a friend

Hot Pursuit is a light & easy to read book. The story line isn't new - dumped girl needs to kick start her life again, with a tangled love story & intrigue thrown in for good measure.

I found this book very slow and when it did start to go faster it ended . Very disappointed and could not like any of the characters.

This book starts off like a lightweight romance and ends up a (somewhat lightweight romance) mystery/suspense.
Back to the beginning: Sarah Burrowes has just been left by her boyfriend, feeling down in the dumps and desperate to prove herself as a journalist.
She nearly and unknowingly sleeps with a rockstar one night (unknowing referring to his rockstar status and not their sleeping status), only to find out who he really is the next day from her boss at work. The boss wants to hire a freelance journo to chase him down and discover if he's had anything to do with his bandmate's mysterious disappearance. Sarah lies and begs to get on the case, only to discover she's going to be sent to Europe with arch enemy Nick - her ex's best friend and a man she once had a one-night stand with.
Their investigation sends them to Barcelona, Rome, Paris and more. Along the way there's romance, scary drug dealers, lives threatened and bags stolen...
It's a bit of a weird one tonally but all in all a mildly entertaining cross-Europe rom-com-action-novel.

I chose to read and review this book on Netgalley because as we're approaching the end of summer more and more, I felt like I needed to read something light, kind of a summer read. Finally, as I don't usually do that.
I expected this book to be a typical chick lit, and in a meaning it was, but it was something more and I'm glad it was.
In the beginning I wasn't sure this book was the right choice, because it started out in a way I thought it indeed was going to be a pretty dumb chick lit. It was okay, but I'm not very good at suspending belief. With time a more interesting storyline came to light, and I learnt to like the characters as well.
See, this is not a simple romance, there's a mystery/thriller kind of storyline that makes this book to be about a little more than just clichés.
Though, believe me, there's tons of clichés. But as I got more into it, I found myself not caring so much about them anymore.
I'm still not sure, though, what was the point of running across so many cities in Europe. I partly picked up this novel because I like 'travelling' via the pages of a book, but this part was a huge disappointment. There were too many cities, all are among the big ones (that's pretty unrealistic to me), and I felt it didn't transfer the essence of those cities at all. The places I have never been to seemed like being based on postcards, and when we got to places I actually visited before (like Paris and Amsterdam) this feeling was even stronger.
The mystery part and investigation was quite weak at the beginning, but by the end, this novel convinced me. I don't say it's a very good and unique mystery, especially as I'm a huge fan of that genre, but from a book that's not even supposed to be a real mystery novel, this case was quite solid.
Ironic is, as big a crime fan as I am, I enjoyed the relationship development in this one way more than the mystery. That was okay, but I found myself invested in the development of the two main characters way more than I exoected. Maybe it was because of Sarah's character traits that made me be uncertain about whom she's going to chose to be with at the end, but I sure as he'll didn't know it for sure, not even before the very ending! Yet I enjoyed how her relationship with Nick developed, their banters, the way they got more and more honest with each other and themselves - and I enjoyed it not dependent on whether Sarah was going to want to be with him with time or not. (I won't say if she does or not. Read the book and find out! Anything can happen.) I think what made me really like this was the development of their friendship, the fact that they fight, but at the end of the day I'm more and more convinced that they care about each other - and they're more and more convinced as well. And I mean it very genuinely, not simply in a romantic way.
All in all, I would say the strength of this book is how it makes a good balance between light-hearted chick lit/romance and crime. I wouldn't read this book again (that's only for extremely good ones), but I would read another book by this author, because according to this one, I enjoy her writing.

As Sarah tries to piece her life back together following her breakup and also claw her way up the career ladder, we follow her on an investigation around Europe. Not just a journalistic assignment, Sarah has a personal vested interesting on solving the mystery she is faced with,. A light-hearted romantic novel with a side helping of intrigue. Thanks NetGalley.

Never judge a book by its cover- more like title! I thought it was a romantic storyline but surprisingly it was more of an adventure/determination storyline! Sarah is a sort-of modern day wonder woman, no matter how the universe knocks her down, she is persevering with the exciting and fast pace storyline which could be the big deal.
A lovely read written by Rebecca Freeborn
