I was not expecting the story to turn out the way it did. I was expecting romance and mystery. It was kind of a hot mess. |

A light, easy summer read, fast moving, fun, a bit whimsical. An enjoyable book to read on holiday. A bit of light relief during dark times |
I thought this book was ok. Got a little far fetched with her getting too involved with the investigation. I skim read some of it but read it all. Was surprised who the ring leader was. |
Thanks to Netgalley for the copy of Hot Pursuit. I wasn't sure whether I would enjoy this book but I'm glad I gave it a go. It was a really different take on the usual chick lit genre and the mystery aspect of it made it hard to put down. I enjoyed the fact that there weren't lots of irrelevant plotlines and that the romance wasn't the main aspect of the story. The developing 'murder mystery' and chase across Europe left me guessing right up until then end. |
What a brilliantly funny, light hearted read. Hot Pursuit has all the makings of a hot summer hit that entertains the reader throughout. I flipping well loved it. |

A missing rockstar, a suspected murderer on the run, and a chase through some of the world’s most romantic destinations Sarah Burrowes is left with a shattered heart and a huge mortgage after the love of her life abruptly runs out on her. A great romantic mystery, easy to read and enjoyable |
Sarah Burrows is working for a gossip magazine, a far cry from her dream job but when her partner leaves her with no explanation leaving her with a crippling mortgage, a girls night leads to a chance meeting with a handsome Scotsman. When Sarah realises that the Scotsman is "missing" rockstar Chris Ford, she bags her boss to let her indulge in investigative journalism that leads to following that same rockstar around Europe. The love story is interesting without overpowering the rest of the story, and you get to enjoy exploring Europe from the comfort of your sofa. |

This was a book full of humour and adventure - a great break from psychological thrillers! This book was refreshing in tone and style - brilliant. |
I actually started reading this a few months ago, and then stopped around chapter 6 as life got busier. I think it's a good marker for a book that I was able to pick up where I left off and still felt like I knew what the characters would be like. Of course, Sarah is somewhat unpredictable in her perhaps naivety, so I really didn't expect the twist at the end. Personally, I love a good flashback and think some could have been added in to show more of James or Nick's previous behaviour but the story certainly wasn't lacking without them. A fun read, I enjoyed it! |
Hot Pursuit was a little bit of a hot mess. It felt like it couldn't decide what it wants to be - a romance? a thriller? - and the result ended up being a bit disheveled but fortunately, still quite enjoyable. Sarah has recently gone through a break-up and her unsatisfying job in a gossip magazine is not lifting her spirits either. So she tricks her boss into landing an assignment in Europe, following a musician who seems to be involved in some shady business. Here come the two main sources of the comedy aspect of this book - she is appallingly unqualified for the job (this was mostly more cringy than funny, though) and there is a hate-to-love romance with the photographer named Nick who accompanies her. Nick seems to be a huge douchebag who was very indiscreet around the office about having slept with Sarah that one time and he also happens to be the best friend of her ex. Although Sarah's European adventures, during which she travels from one big city to another in pursuit of the mysterious musician, were partly entertaining, I was often frustrated with her. I don't know the extent to which the journalism practices described were realistic but I was inwardly squirming while reading about them. The same goes for the long-distance communication that was happening between Sarah and her ex. When Sarah was not harassing people to help her or thinking about getting back together with her ex, she repeatedly and unnecessarily put herself in dangerous situations like a true Gryffindor, although it was more like just pure dumb than heroic. My main problem was with the plot, though. Too many plot points or twists felt highly unrealistic and I just couldn't suspend my disbelief that a) everything would work out this perfectly and b) all the characters would be this oblivious about what was happening. Despite these imperfections, this book was still fun to read, I enjoyed the banter between Sarah and Nick and their hate-to-love romance, and the setting worked in favor of my enjoyment as well. I guess I could have enjoyed it even more, though, if it focused more on the romance and the European-travel aspect than on the far-fetched mystery. |
The description mentions how the novel can inspire women to reach for their full potential. Sarah is doing just that when she takes off on an around the globe chase of a rockstar suspected of murder. What she finds out about him, herself and others in her life shifts the way she perceives the world. chases down a story. Definitely a nice way to spend a winter night or two. |

This was a light an easy read following Sarah as she struggles with being left by her boyfriend James and is struggling with the aftermath. For an added bonus it's a romance with a mystery involved which helped keep me interested throughout the story. Unfortunately for me the book just didn't quite hit the mark. It was enjoyable but I had a really hard time connecting with Sarah and at times just found myself frustrated with her. While it is also quite a humorous novel I think it could have done with being a bit more serious at times. Overall a good escapist read but probably not one I would pick up again. |
Thanks to NetGalley and to Pantera Press for an advance copy of Hot Pursuit. I wasn't sure whether this was going to be a chick lit or a modern adult romance, but I was delighted when it turned out to be a mystery with some romance thrown in for good measure. I did feel that Sarah was a bit of a nymphomaniac on heat as she seemed to be attracted to almost every male character she came into contact with - apart from the really icky ones, of course. I also knew from the start who she really wanted to be with. But by the end, I decided that she didn't really want to be with anyone. She was far too fickle in her affections. The story is a bit of a caper that leaves Australia at a rate of knots and travels very quickly across Europe. Sarah didn't learn from any of her mistakes, and I just felt that she was either very silly or very thick as she kept on walking into danger with her eyes shut. The mystery aspect really did appeal, though. But while I didn't guess who it was at all until the end, I'm not sure it actually worked for me. And towards the end, I also had to suspend disbelief for a short while. But it was a pacy, entertaining, interesting read and one that kept me turning the pages nonetheless. |
Hot pursuit was a light easy to read book. It was an okay book and I managed to finish it but I don’t think the book will stay with me now I’ve finished it. |
Really enjoyed this one, it was a cute fast paced book but still perfect for a light Sunday reading. |

An enjoyable rom com / chick lit style tongue in cheek crime story - well worth a read. I enjoyed this immensely and will look forward to her next book. |
Hot Pursuit was so cute! I fell in love with the cover but ended up falling even harder for the characters in the book. I read it twice in a row! |
An ok read. Very simplistic and quite silly at times. However, for an easy read on the beach this will pass the time. |
