This was a real delight to read. I loved that it was full of Humor, adventure and love.
I loved the way Rebecca gave insight to the reader of all the beautiful countries visited, it painted a beautiful image in my head of each one and made me feel like I was right there with Sarah.
Nick and Sarah's ex lover relationship was enjoyable, they are both very likable lead characters, the banter that they shared had me laughing till I cried. I was rooting for Sarah and Nick from the beginning I loved that he was protective of her and even went to the scary bar in order to help her with her story.
The book for me took quite a dark turn which when you start to read you do not quite expect.
Overall I loved the book and I would happily read another Rebecca Freeborn book.

I really enjoyed this novel. It was fast paced and descriptive, allowing the reader to feel as if they were actually in the various locations, and experiencing the sights and sounds as they unveiled. The characters seemed real and really brought the novel to life. I'm glad the two main pair ended on a high and would love to see their story continue in a sequel,? Yeah, not so much! If I’m honest I didn’t make it passed chapter three. <I>Chapter Three the beginning of the End!</I> Rebecca’s writing style didn’t transport me to a thrilling European. If anything my attention kept wondering until I put the book down, it wasn’t very engaging.
 
<b>Sarah is a former beauty therapist who doesn’t wear make-up. She’s a wannabe journo for gossip magazine Women’s Choice, but she knows nothing about celebrities. And now the love of her life has run out on her leaving her with a mortgage to handle on her own.</b>
 
Doesn’t that sound intriguing, a woman who hasn’t quite found herself. Someone not allowing herself to be pigeonholed and then throw in a bit of heartbreak. Doesn’t that sound like the beginning of a great novel? That’s why I picked the novel.

What was disappointing was that Sarah doesn’t have a backbone, she flitters between things and is so dull and self obsessed it’s annoying.

Yeah - he’s a douche as well. No endearing qualities that I could find BUT I did stop reading at chapter three.

Was it?!? It was meant to empower me? How? By boring the tits off me (sorry that was unkind) HOW was this story meant to be realising your potential? If anything things dropped into Sarah’s lap i.e. the randomly meeting and hooking up with a Scottish Rockstar!!! Just before an assignment for said Rockstar popped up!!!

Ok - she did have to stalk him across Europe BUT if she was a better journalist surely she’d have, you know - handled this better?!

Maybe my problem is that I watch <b>Ibiza</B> with Richard Madden and that had a better story plot (and in all honesty that actually that great a movie)

Good, fast paced mystery that gave a flavour of Australia, Spain, Italy and Amsterdam. Very enjoyable with a surprising outcome. I would highly recommend this book

This was a lot of fun. Its a light easy read that had me chuckling away to myself in bed whilst i was reading it. Would read other books by this author.

Enjoyed this book it was a good lighthearted read. Sarah the heroine is having a really bad time of things. She ends up on an adventure of a lifetime. At the start of the story Sarah is a journalist that wants to do some serious journalism not the frothy stuff she is currently writing. She is broke and broken hearted but as the story unfurls she is hot footing all over Europe to unravel some dodgy dealings.

If you're looking for a funny, easy, romantic novel, this may be for you. It's kind of an Australian version of Bridget Jones ... but, to be honest, I couldn't pass Sarah's and Nick's characters, it was just too silly for me. Both of them behaved like teenagers, and not like the 30-year old adults they were supposed to be, making the same mistakes all over again. On the redeeming side, it was a well-written book, with some funny episodes.

I found this title on the off chance on Netgalley and I'm so glad I did. I really enjoyed the intrigue and mystery of the plot, which wasn't too serious, but still gripping and the locations were just fabulous. Romance suspense isn't my normal read, but this had me hooked and I'll certainly be looking out for this author in the future.

The blurb promised so much that the book just couldn't deliver - i found the characters clunky and childish and I just didn't understand the attraction to Nick. Just a bit meh.

Hot Pursuit is, what I'd describe as the "perfect trashy read" - a description that is not as derogatory as one may think. This is fiction that is so far-fetched that it becomes compelling, a page-turner that will have you reading in long stints. It's a beach read or a cosy in front of the fire read. It's escapism.

Some have been critical that it is neither romance nor mystery because neither genre is satisfied. That's true, but then I wouldn't put this book in either category.

Characterisation is cliched, location descriptions are accurate but, again, stylised. It doesn't matter. Loose yourself in this book for a couple of hours, suspend belief and escape the everyday.

Hot pursuit is one of those summer reads that makes you smile. Wildly unbelievable plotting that somehow, becomes acceptable with each page turned.
The author suggests, at the end of the book, that Sarah (her main character) kept her awake at night and quite frankly, I’m not surprised. She’s the epitome of adventure, stubbornness & strength any female wants to be. Humanly flawed and quite possibly, lovable.
A really silly romp around Europe with Sarah who’s done the training as a jorno but never had the chance to prove herself. Throw in the ruggedly handsome photographer, some awkward back story, heartache, a drug cartel & new beginnings and you’ve got your summer read all sewn up.
You couldn’t make it up........ hilariously, Rebecca Freeborn did!

I quite enjoyed this book. It’s a nice short romantic thriller. It’s perfect for a holiday read, or a train journey as it’s light reading but with enough plot to keep you interested.

Great holiday read. Easy to get into a chick lit book with a bit a of mystery which I enjoyed it made the book a little different from the usual rom com. It had twists and turns that kept me interested. Really enjoyed.

So you see... I have to be honest here... I really hated this book. I'm sorry... I really tried to at least like something, well I did 'like' Nick...?

Let me explain, so first, this story is about Sarah Burrowes, she is a wannabe journalist, 30 years old, who works at a gossip magazine (but she doesn't know anything about celebrities and it's against technology). She was left with a shattered (drama much?) heart and a huge mortgage after 'the love of her life' just walks out of her. Now she is in a constant pity party of one... she goes out with her friends and gets herself a man for the night... just to turn him down because she can't stop thinking about her ex. He practically runs away after that and she is left thinking that she just can't be trusted with men anymore, because she sucks, yadda yadda yadda, pity party. The next day she finds out that the mystery guy from last night it's actually a famous musician and that he is being accused of murdering one of his bandmates. She literally jumps and tricks her boss into giving her a big job finding the musician through Europe and getting the scoop. There is only one little detail... she has to work with her ex's BFF, Nick, a one night stand she had a few years ago that she hates because of the humiliation that she felt when it happened. The more she digs, the more things don't add up and she ends up with more than she bargained for.

Now that we know what this is about, let me explain why I hated this... I'll start with the general plot of the story, if this is romance, the ending is not even a HFN is more like a "happy at this very instant because real life is still not caught up with us", so not a good romance; if this is a mystery book, you pretty much guess what is this ALL about by I would say, 30% into the book? I'll be good and say 45%. So I guess fiction, very fictional fiction is the true mark here...

Now about the characters, I'll start with Sarah, you see she is 30, she allegedly studied journalism, but let me list a few things that are common sense and got into my nerves in a very extremely bad way: 1) she knows she'll have to travel from place to place to get the musician and probably have to move quickly, so obviously, she packed the biggest suitcase she could find; 2) on their first day, she decides to wear heels, because she knows she has to walk a lot and that made a lot of sense; 3) since she hates technology, she has notes and all printed information about the case because is supposed to be 'top secret' and an unprotected laptop... 4) she behaves like a 16-year-old girl and half of the time she is going over and over about James and the other half acting all mighty about Nick's behavior with other women. Now, this could be a mild spoiler, but I have to write it... "[...] the glass sliced into my forearm. [...] pain seared through me and I cried out. I checked the damage and the sight of my own blood oozing from the wound was almost enough to make me faint. I forced myself to breathe. I hadn't hit an artery" so... how does she even knows she didn't hit an artery!? I mean... seriously!? So yeah... these are the reasons I didn't like her.

BUT I really liked Nick, he was cute, he had all this bravado on the outside and being a flirt it's like an armor suit for his feelings and it was really good to read him shed that layer by layer. He was fun to know.

Overall... I'm so truly sorry, but definitely, no thank you...

I really enjoyed this book. I read it on holidays in one sitting. Perfect holiday reading material, light and funny. I loved hearing of all the adventures.

A great read journalist Sarah and photographer Nick go in search of a story which takes them to Europe and leads them into danger as they try and serch for evidence to uncover a serious issue as the story unfolds with lots of twists and turns plus the two of them having a shared past making it a real page turner for readers to enjoy i really enjoyed it

Hot Pursuit, Sarah falsely secures a hot story and heads off to Europe with Nick the photographer, her last and much regretted one night stand. Whilst still smarting from her break up with James (Nick's supposed 'best mate') she wonders whether they will ever get back together again and will Nick try his seduction routine on her again?
Part travelogue, part romance and an unbelievably silly plot. However, it was fun, did have a degree of manic pace and overall was entertaining.

wow what a book! Full of adventures, excitement, mysteries, this book is almost a detective story. I wasn't expecting a detective story at all! I was expecting a typical chick lit story full or romance but instead I was following Sarah, an Australian beauty journalist who travelled to Europe to follow a musician who might have killed a member of his band and to write a story about it. Sarah is traveling with Nick, the photographer of the journal, a very annoying guy who can't resist but jump on every woman on sight but who can be sometimes very lovely and very sexy. Actually even if Nick can be very annoying, I quite liked this character, I found him very funny and I would have loved to have more scenes with him. I would also have loved to have more romantic scenes in this book, but all in all, I loved the story, I read it very fast and I was totally hooked from page one to last page! What a book! I can't wait to read another book from Rebecca Freeborn! 4 stars out of 5 for me!
