Finished this awhile ago but wasn’t sure what to say about the book. I loved John Kennedy growing up and had a hard time getting into the story.  It is still hard for me to know John had affairs with other woman

I enjoyed the drama of this one, I always love forbidden romance and historical scandals. I also enjoyed the historical details. But I didn't quite buy "Jack" He didn't seem that romantic or desirable to me, and that colored how I felt about the rest of the novel.

Fascinating depiction of the Kennedys! So interesting to read, particularly with the huge amount of research that the author did.

I really enjoyed A Paris Apartment and I enjoyed The Summer I Met Jack. It was an interesting look back at the 50s and how Alicia, a Polish immigrant intersects and is affected by coming to know a famous American family. Being Canadian, I don't really have an opinion on the Kennedys other than the bits that everyone knows, so it was entertaining to have a look see into the early years. The first part of the book really drew my interest I think for me it was a reminder that we're all human, no matter that we might have a famous last name.

I read The Paris Apartment by Michelle Gable and placed it on my "best of" list for that year. The writing in that book was superb and I thought she did a fantastic job of creating a "maybe this is how it happened" vibe for a story that has a basis in truth. 

I expected much the same from The Summer I Met Jack. Unfortunately, I am going to DNF this book. I've tried to enjoy it, however, I am constantly frustrated by the writing style. It seems choppy and simplistic. I have a hard time believing this is Gable's work, based on my previous experience with her work. 

I encourage you to peruse other reviews as there are many that had the complete opposite reaction.

I love Michelle Gable's books and have been a fan since A Paris Apartment, but this one was a topic I honestly didn't know much about. She really put me into their world and I am so glad it was recommended in my book club.

This story was a bit too slow for me. I normally love historical fiction and I thought this would be similar since it’s based on real characters. But I couldn’t finish it. It just dragged on for me

Such a beautiful love story.  After so many years of biographies it's refreshing to get a fresh perspective on JFK before he was president.  I knew bits and pieces of the story, but Michelle Gable brings characters to life that show a human side of our tragic president.  I may love Jackie Kennedy, but it was a fascinating glimpse of what other women stole Jack's heart.

Based on a true story, Alicia Corning Clark is a Polish immigrant who worked for the Kennedy clan and was rumored to have had a romance and even been engaged to JFK. Told from Alicia’s point of view, this story narrates how she was looking for stardom and for love in all the wrong places. The book tries to flit back and forth between the past and present day, but until the point is made to why we are in the present with certain characters, it’s a bit confusing. I also really didn’t like the main character!

This is an interesting take on JFK's early years and romances. I wanted to learn more about the family after reading this book.

Michelle Gable's historical novel tackles an illicit affair between Alicia Corning-Clark and JFK. Well written and definitely compelling - you can tell that the author is well versed in the subject matter. Well drawn and impeccably researched, it pulls you into the narrative of one of America's more famous families. . 
Perfect for fans of historical fiction or those with an interest in the Kennedys.

This book was everything I had hoped it would be: gossipy, dramatic, romantic, engaging. I fell in love with the setting, and couldn’t get enough of the “behind the scenes” glimpses into the Kennedys lives and lifestyles. Alicia was the perfect main character for this story: spunky, ambitious, smart. I’ll be gushing about this one for a long time.

I just didn't get hooked in like I had hoped with this story. On the surface, it sounds like a pretty good beach read. But, I couldn't suspend disbelief enough for Alicia and Jack's dalliance, or even Serena's reticence in the 2016 sections.

I enjoyed reading this informative book. I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys The Kennedy's.

The Summer I Met Jack is about the love story of JFK (Jack) and Alicia Corning Clark. Alicia is from Poland and is forced to move to America after the war. She meets Jack while working in a movie theatre. The fall deeply and madly for each other. They want to get married but Jack’s father, Joe Kennedy will not have it because of her Jewish background. Of course, we all know that he ends up marrying the famous Jackie later. 
This story has true events and some things are left to speculate and wonder. The one thing you know is true is Alicia’s heartbreak when she is forced to live her life without her true love! I would highly recommend this beautiful love story to anyone!

I enjoyed this fictional story based on real events in the life of JFK and Alicia Darr. Who was this lady and how was she important in his life? I thought the author did a great job of setting the time period in a realistic way with the use of language and details. The pace flowed and I just had to find out how a rich and famous Kennedy could fall for an everyday popcorn girl. The implications were not only intriguing but also pretty suspenseful. I was invested in the story more so than the characters who weren't really all that likable. Still, this read like a soap opera which was a pleasant surprise.

JFK is infamous for his extramarital affairs. The author's imagining of one such affair is told in this book. I liked the author's writing style and her character development. She kept me interested until the end.
