Mary Kay Andrews does it again! Her books make for great summer beach reads. This book kept me hooked from start to finish. |
I love a good read that transport me and makes me want to be with those people. It was a great storyline, and a great setting that I couldn’t put down. I can’t wait to read the next story by this author. |

Eccentric heiress Josephine Warrick is a notorious recluse - reigning over a crumbling pink mansion on a private island, she is rarely seen but often whispered about. So when Brooke Trappnell, a struggling young lawyer, is summoned to the island, she has no idea what's in store. As she listens to Josephine recount a story of old friendship, dark secrets, and a mysterious murder, it becomes clear that Brooke is there for two reasons: to help protect Josephine's beloved island, and to make amends with her old friends, the skinny-dipping, secret-keeping girls of the The High Tide Club. Andrews has created a story that is at turns suspenseful, sad, and hopeful, with plenty of surprising twists. Recommended. |
The High Tide Club was my first book by Mary Kay Andrews, but it won't be my last. What I love most about this. Ook was the parallel friendships found not only amongst the original High Tide Club members, but also amongst their descendants. Additionally, the quirky, flawed characters and their relationships made this book hard to put down. Overall, I loved this book! |
MKA never disappoints! I love the twist of mystery she's been injecting into her recent beach reads. Getting back to her roots! Fun, fast-paced and enjoyable! |
This book was a rough start for me. Neither dual timelines or multiple viewpoints are my favorite styles to read, and this was both of those. Toss in a slow start right smack in the middle of all that the book plot is, and I was quickly seeing why this book sat in my TBR pile for as long as it did. The good news is that it picked up for me. I started figuring out the characters, their placements, and their storylines (because there's at least 3 of them going on) and ended up really enjoying the book. I give it 3 1/2 stars but rounded up because it didn't warrant only 3. Even with such a beachy theme, I wouldn't call this a beach read - it's more so a rainy night read, but it's worth picking up! Thank you Netgalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed, are my own. https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2891925078 |
I did not finish this book because I got about 50 pages in and it bored me. I’m sorry to say that but I will definitely try other books of the author’s to see if maybe this one just was not for me. |
I received an eARC copy of this book from the publisher. Here is my honest review. This book was so much more than I expected. I had not read a Mary Kay Andrews book before and so expected a light, beach-y read about friendship. There is certainly friendship. There is also a mysterious history about old friends, a bit of thriller in a good guy turns bad (and creepy). The alternate timelines were done really well and built the suspense as the past and present story lines unfolded. This might have been the first book I've read by this author but it won't be the last. I gave this book: ★★★★★ |
Mary Kay Andrews is basically one of the main queens of beach read women's fiction and The High Tide Club did NOT disappoint. If you're looking for a read to get you through that last weekend getaway, this is one to pick up |
I've been a fan of Andrews for a while and this book was a perfect read for my recent beach vacation. It has everything you would want in a breezy women's fiction story, down to the beach setting and warm friendships. |

When ninety-nine year old Josephine finds out she is going to die she hires Brooke to find her old friends who were part of The High Tide Club. She wants them found so she can make amends to them and leave them her estate but the problem is she hasn't kept in contact with them so the search won't be easy. Josephine tells a story about what happened years ago. We learn about secrets they kept. She tells about the great friendships. I only gave this four stars because there were parts that went slow. It caught my attention enough that I kept reading wanting to know what happened next but I like stories that move along at the same speed through out the story. |

I was expecting a light, beachy, chick-lit book. Instead it is both a contemporary and historical with a mystery mixed in. I loved this book; it's full of secrets, friendships, and family. It's not at all what I thought it would be, but it's exactly what I wanted. This is my first book, by Mary Kay Andrews, but if this one is any indication of her other books, it will definitely not be my last. This is a long book, but it kept my attention throughout and I just loved all of the secrets and surprises along the way. I ended up listening to it on audio, but thank you to NetGalley, the publisher-St. Martin's Press, and the author for providing me with an ARC. I may not have got to experience this book and I have found another author that I want to read more by. Excellent! 5 stars.. Highly Recommended! |
"I am actually ambivalent about this novel -I'm not sure if I hate it or love it. However, one thing is for sure -it is unlike anything else I have read from this author." |
I have loved every single Mary Kay Andrews book I have read, and this one was no different. I greatly enjoyed the characters, and every book of Andrew's that I read has very realistic and dimensional relationships between characters. |
This cover is deceiving. I thought I was sitting down for a nice fluff read and that it was not. The High Tide Club is kinda on the heavy side with: racism, lies, rape, mystery, and murder. Told through past and present, with many pov's. Normally this would be my jam but I'm just not feeling the dark side right now, so setting this aside to give it another go later. Thank you for the opportunity. |

While I enjoyed this book, it was a bit different than Mary Kay Andrews's usually beach reads. I'm not used to murder mysteries in her books. |
