Mary Kay Andrews has given us another well-written novel that rolls out excitement, mystery, intrigue, romance along with beautiful scenery and gentle moments where joy springs up in simple everyday actions. Very well done!

The High Tide Club is established in 1941 when four teenage girls go skinny dipping during a full moon on Talisa Island. The daughters and granddaughters of Josephine, Millie, Ruth & Varina continue to tradition in 2018.

Their lives are told in a series of flashbacks that reveal the norms for both eras - how much has changed for women regardless of race.

You meet 34 yr old Brooke, determined to be self-supporting, independent, as a lawyer and single mother she has a lot on her plate. Meet Josephine, 99, determined to right a lifetime of wrongs before cancer wins.

The men in their lives are as diverse as the women in their temperaments and actions.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this ARC.

I haven’t read anything by this author before. I was pleased to find there was a lot of depth to the characters and a plot with some twists. It was more than just a mindless beach read.

I absolutely LOVED this book. After reading the prologue I was hooked, however it was a little hard for me to get into the rest of the book at first but as I kept reading I became more and more invested in the young women of the High Tide Club and Josephine’s story.

This book is very well written and the story was easy to follow as the reader is taken from present day back in time to the early 1940’s.

I really enjoyed the relationship that the women started forging once they were all brought together. Secrets long kept in the dark began to be brought to light making the story that much more interesting. All the twists and turns this story takes make it one that readers won’t soon forget.

The High Tide Club is a poignant and emotional tale of choices made, secrets kept and an old woman’s dying wish to make amends.

I loved this book! I am a fan of Mary Kay Andrews and have read all her books. I have to say I think this is one of her best. I loved the way the story was told; mixing the past and the present. Family, friendship, mystery - it's all there. Another great read from MKA

This book was an enjoyable light read. I loved all of the characters, their history and how they all came together. Although I did enjoy this book I did find it a bit predictable.

Brooke, a young struggling lawyer is called to the home of wealthy eccentric Josephine. She can't imagine why until she finds out that Josephine wants to make amends to three women. When it is discovered that Brooke is related to her, she calls a former co-worker to help with this estate. Josephine's story is told in alternating chapters with plenty of secrets, some that may be dangerous. As the mystery unfolds, relationships are formed that bring restoration and new friendships.

I just finished reading Mary Kay Andrew's latest book and thoroughly enjoyed it! Only downside was that it was a total beach read, and I was reading it in the middle of winter weather. Characters were interesting and well developed. All of the twists and turns made the book captivating, and most of the characters were likable which was a plus. I thought the end wrapped up a little too quickly, I would have liked the romantic storyline to be a little more resolved than it was. Overall a good beach read, with enough intrigue to keep you reading

This book was so different than her others and in a Great way! The High Tide Club was a fast paced thrill ride with characters you root for! I stayed up reading way to late and waking to wanting more! This was definitely one of my favorites of her books! Put it on your beach list must read list!

I was thrown by this novel’s clear, distinct voices of characters each evolving throughout the pages. Joy, grief, confusion, betrayal, greed, hate, love, forgiveness and peace each in its own time.

This book had two time frames, past and present. The present made the beginning of book really slow. In middle of book present tense caught up with past tense and book became page turner, until end. The ending felt rushed and some of the characters HEA didn't seem plausible.

I enjoyed this latest by Andrews, surprisingly more meaty in subject matter than previous books. The time period alternates between 1941 and the current day, with the obvious differences in societal norms and what is acceptable behavior. Three best friends meet on full moon evenings to skinny dip and share secrets, Ruth, Millie and Josephine. Variana was brought into the three-some by Josephine. Josephine is dying of cancer, contacting Brooke, an unwed mother and lawyer, to help her make some wrongs right before she dies. Brooke and Josephine are the main characters, supported by a diverse cast of interesting people, amidst mysteries, twists and all kinds of mayhem. I recommend it.

I'd give it a 3.5 out of 5. Started off kinda slow and I think it would of been better if it would of been just a little shorter but overall its a good read. Not what I'd call a "beach read" but still a pretty good read nevertheless. Thanks to NetGalley and St Martins Press for the ARC.

Really readable new book that goes back and forth to uncover a seventy five year old disappearance and how it affected the life’s of all involved.

While the overall premise of this story was fairly intriguing and captivating, a fair amount of the story was drawn out where it didn't need to be with stifled conversations and tiresome descriptions. As an author, Andrews has been hit or miss for me. Some novels I've greatly enjoyed, while others less so. I also perceive a detachment from reality in some elements that are unnecessary and even detract from the realistic approach of this novel. The 3-year old character is described in very baby-ish ways: in a crib, using a high chair, not much vocabularly, mom still carrying a cartoon animal diaper bag. But at the same time calling his grandmother by her first name. Annoying and distracting when it was so minor to the overall story that the story itself could exist without these chunks of information. It added little value. Mostly, the book stressed relationships- new and old- especially among groups of women and did so colorfully and interestingly. Male relationships were downplayed although one was focused on in the story- again, in an annoying way because of its implausibility.

Southern charm and mystery abound in Mary Kay Andrew's new novel. When single mom lawyer Brooke Trapnell is summoned to the house of the dying matriarch of the Bettendorf family, she ends up taking on far more than just another case. Part "whodunit," part women's fiction, and part historical fiction The High Tide Club if a must have for beach bags this summer.

I enjoyed this book. The story is easy to get into and I could relate to most of the characters. There were a few plot twists that I did not see coming although I easily guessed a couple of others. Overall, it was a pleasant, quick read.

Mary Kay Andrews knows how to write an interesting, entertaining, funny, sad, intriguing story. The High Tide Club girls will make you laugh, make you cry, and make you want to slap someone but you will definitely want to read this book to the very last page!

3.5/5 This book was part mystery, part romance. The mystery was so interesting I could have done without the romance. Every time the narrative would switch back to the protagonist's life- whether it was about her kid, her dating life, her babysitter, etc. I would just want to shout- your life's not that interesting! Let's get back to the good part!

So for me I could have done with more flashbacks from the past, more intrigue, and more of the actual High Tide Club itself. Overall though, a good beach read. Fun and readable.

I have always enjoyed this author’s books.…this was a bit of a departure from the breezy, funny, colorful character filled reads I have come to love. I found this story to be more multi-layered & complex than previous novels. I am a sucker for a story from the past intertwined with the present, with an intriguing mystery thrown in. And if it is set in the South, I’m all in. The author used the multi-narrator, past & present narrative to very effectively propel the action forward. The colorful characters & humor are still present, but issues of race, domestic violence & murder are also present. If you are already a fan of Mary Kay Andrews, you are in for a delightful surprise. If you haven’t read her previous novels, get on board, you are missing out!

While I've loved several past Mary Kay Andrews books, I just didn't connect to this one. Her books are either hit or miss for me. I didn't connect to the characters and it wasn't quite what I was expecting. Those who love MKA should definitely read this book, as the writing is great as usual. This one just wasn't for me! Still gets three stars from me due to the great writing though.
