This was one of my most anticipated reads of 2018. Unfortunately, it ended up being a tad disappointing. I didn't feel any kind of connection with the main character and I also did not find this story suspenseful or thrilling. It was just your run of the mill typical suspense books. I've got to admit that I didn't see the ending coming, but I also didn't find it to be much of a plot twist. 3 stars due to the story keeping my attention, just not the best I have ever read and not particularly memorable.

I was really excited to read this book but had a really hard timing getting into it. But I hung in there after reading several great reviews and I am glad I did. The plot picked up - especially the latter half of the book and I could see why people got hooked on it. I was not crazy about the character of Emily- she never really grabbed me. I did think the ending was great- but again, it was so hard to get into, so it was not one of my favorite of reads.

It’s so difficult to review a psychological thriller without giving away important plot points. I’m going to give it a try without giving too much away. This was one of the better books that I have read lately, but it had a few flaws. The author does a good job of making the primary villain extremely unlikeable, almost too much so. At some points, I wondered why anyone would put up with someone so horrible, and not just walk away. However, I will say that that question does eventually get answered. Emily, the main character, goes through an awful lot, which is par for the course in a psychological thriller. I found her to be a little weak, but there was no particular reason given for her to be that way. In addition, the other antagonist (no name, don’t want to give it away) wasn’t fleshed out enough. I wanted more reasons for and/or examples of why and how that person was the way they were. The end reveal didn’t answer enough of those questions for me. All of that being said, it was still an enjoyable read, with a fairly tight plot. I would definitely recommend it to someone who likes the genre. I was given an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Wow, The Other Woman by Sandie Jones is an intense read from the prologue to the epilogue. Nothing is at it seems in this crazy love triangle between Emily, her boyfriend Adam and his mother Pammie. An absolute 5 star read from start to finish - book some time for this one, you won't want to put it down.
Emily and Adam are a cute London couple who are falling in love. Sounds great - except for his mother. Pammie could put Mommie Dearest to shame. She has a lovely public persona, kind and sweet, generous to a fault - but when Emily is around it's a different story altogether.
Emily believes Pammie is deliberately trying to run her out of Adam's life forever. Emily is perplexed, what has she done to make Pammie despise her? Emily has constant mixed emotions about Pammie, almost everyone around her doesn't see the manipulative cold bitch that Emily sees. Is it really Emily? Is she just predisposed to despise Pammie?
If Emily's fiance doesn't see his mother's true colors, will anyone else? Will Adam's mother succeed in just breaking them up or will the scheme turn deadly?
The Other Woman may be the best book of 2018. Hands down, five star read that I would highly recommend to readers who enjoy suspense. You won't see the twist until it's right there. Kept me on the edge of my seat. Ms. Jones has a new fan, I absolutely hope she has more stories to tell!

Wow! This was a page turner! Full of surprises and twists til the very end! I would definitely recommend this book! I couldn’t put it down!

Oh my goodness!! This was an excellent book. The twists and turns kept me on the edge of my seat. I never knew what was coming

Emily fell in love with Adam from the start! He was the "one" until....she met his mother. She tried to do everything to break up the relationship and everyone else thought it was all in her head. OR was it?

Twisty and suspense--a good candidate in the domestic suspense genre--wonderful characterizations and premise.

this book was slow to start but then was moving too quickly. I am from the united states and sometimes i struggle with english dialect but with this one i had no problems. I feel that the book was overall good however it had potential to be so much more

I didn’t love the book and probably would not have finished it except I was given access to read it by Net Galley, the author and the publisher in exchange for a candid review.
Adam and Emily meet in a bar and very quickly start a serious relationship. Adam was both playful and loving but you got the feeling that he had a very dark side. Emily seemed to be a little desperate especially in relationships and wanted so much for this to work with Adam. But you never really saw what they had in common except for sex.
This was a good story, but it didn’t read like a true psychological thriller, more like chick lit with a nasty twist. It is difficult to comment on the ending without spoiling it for other readers. It was a twist that I hadn’t thought about but mostly because I just wasn’t that engaged with the story. But, it just didn’t make sense to carry on for so long when just telling the truth made so much more sense, especially considering the possible outcome for Emily.
I would recommend this book to my friends because so many other reviewers loved it.

This story tells of a woman sho cannot see that the man she loves is flawed. But his mother knows and tries to break them up. It takes a while but FINALLY the woman figures it out.

Wow. that's all I can say. This book had some twists in it that I did not see coming at all.
Emily has met her perfect man. She is glowing in love, and even better, he couldn't love her more. There is just one problem....his mother. Pammie hates her soon to be daughter in law. This book is a fascinating power struggle between two women over the same man. Naturally Pammie hides all of her deceit from her son, and only Emily sees her true colors. I won't say any more, but I highly recommend this be added to everyone's shelves this summer!
I received an advanced copy in exchange of an honest review.

I had a hard time really getting into this book. I stopped reading it 2 different times, but kept going back to it, since I read other reviews that mentioned how much they loved the ending. I have to agree that the ending of the book totally hooked me. Actually, once I got to the 2nd half of the book, I started to like it much better.
Overall, I am kind of mixed with how I feel about this book. If it wasn’t for the other reviews I read, I probably never would have gone back to it and finished it. But, I am really glad I finished it, since the twists at the end I just loved!

Oh wow I wasn't expecting much from this book nor was I expecting the ending! I love reading the twisty thrillers but they can be overdone or fall flat - this one kept my attention and actually did throw me for a loop at the end! It was very easy to read, it was compelling, it made me want to get to the end to see how it worked out. The author did a great job of leading the reader one way but also dropping clues the other way.
I definitely thought it was going to be straightforward with the obvious "terrible mother in law" problem. I'm glad I was wrong because it made a great story - and it was unexpected.

Definitely a fun summer read. A thriller that is a bit fluffy in terms of you have to not think tooo hard because otherwise the signs Emily is facing and ignoring just make you want to scream.
Emily falls madly deeply in love with Adam rather quickly and soon realizes there is more to his family than she might be prepared for. His mom Pammie is not ready to let her little boy go. Will Emily be able to get past that? Will she find happiness?
I was surprised at the ending and would definitely read other books by the author. I just wish a bit more had been edited out so Emily did not make me want to bop her upside the head and say PAY ATTENTION. Of course, we all have friends who aren't ready to see what we think they should see until they are ready so maybe Emily is that friend but in book form.
Thanks Netgalley for the fun read!

Wow, do I have whiplash.
To be quite frank, it took me a day of reading on and off to chug through the first few chapters and be pulled into the story, but once the pace picked up it had it's hooks in me for sure. I had a difficult time wrapping my head around Emily's motives and overall thought process, but I guess we don't really know how we will act in a certain situation until it presents itself to us. Once the story got moving, I finished the book in less than a day. It had what I liked, a storybook villainous mother-in-law and a man seemingly clueless to his own mother's faults. But that ending, WOW. Did not see that coming. When that twist slapped me in the face I had to put my kindle down for a moment to catch my breath. The only thing that threw me off a bit was how quickly everything happened in the end, which kind of made it a bit unbelievable. But since the entire book jumps places and times pretty abruptly to highlight the most defining points of the lead couple's relationship it flowed pretty nicely and there were no loose ends. I did enjoy reading this book, however, and look forward to more book releases!

I enjoyed this book, especially the surprise twist of an ending! Jones takes the reader on a roller coaster ride with “the other woman” from hell.

This book had me sucked in from the very beginning. And the ending was totally not what I expected. Definitely a 5 star read!

I couldn't put down The Other Woman by Sandie Jones and read it all in one sitting. Emily isn't looking for love when she meets Adam in a bar, but that is exactly what she finds. He handsome, intelligent, and doesn't let things bother him. Their lives blooms quickly and things are going well until the day she meets his mother Pammie. Pammie dislikes Emily from the start but she's coy enough to hide it from everyone but Emily. When Emily and Adam get engaged Pammie seems determined to ruin it, but just how far will she go?
This book pulled me in from page 1. I felt the frustrations and found myself equally upset. The end packs a punch that only made me love it more.

This is a perfectly fine mystery which concerns the twists and turns of the devious ruminations of the almost mother in law of Emily who deals with her diabolical machinations after she meets and falls in love with Adam, the man of her dreams.
The reader is presented with a giant red herring, but certainly can enjoy the trip through the various relationships. No spoilers, but the author manages to pull it all together. Certainly a smooth read for someone who enjoys family driven mysteries.
