WHOA!!! Up until the twist at the end, this book hit way too close to home. I almost thought the author was writing this book about my MIL and I could so relate to Emily. While it's really easy to judge and say that Emily should have RUN, until you walk in someone else's shoes... Definitely highly recommend this fast paced thriller, especially if you have a crazy MIL.

Wow, it's nearly midnight, way past the time I should be asleep, but I could not stop this until the end - and what an ending! It is crucial not to read any spoilers if you want to feel the full impact of this book, so I will give away as little as possible.

Emily, high -flying recruitment consultant, meets handsome Adam in a London bar, and they rapidly become the perfect couple. She's never been in love like this, and soon she is moving out of the flat she shared with her best friend, so she and Adam can move in together. The only cloud in her perfect blue sky is Adam's mother, Pammie, who has taken an instant dislike to Emily, and does everything possible to split them up. No one else hears the bitchy comments, veiled threats, or sees the way Pammie manipulates situations to make Emily look bad in front of Adam, and Emily, increasingly paranoid, fears that with no proof, she can't confide in anyone, in case they think she's crazy. As their relationship progresses, the secret war between the two loves of Adam's life threatens to destroy it. Will Emily walk away, and let Pammie win, or can she finally open his eyes to the truth about his mother - and what about her confused feelings for his hunky younger brother...?

Reading this, I did feel hugely frustrated with how Emily behaves, and had to remind myself that at 27 it's fairly normal to be insecure and easily confused by the games people play. You want to shake her for confusing lust with love, and having so little self-respect and allowing herself to be treated like that. Adam may be wonderful, but does she really think she can win against a master manipulatrix, for the heart of a Mummy's boy? I had to remind myself that twenty years ago I would've been much the same. I didn't always like Emily, she's often shallow and vain, abandoning her friends for her man, and using her sexuality as her main weapon. She did however feel very real, and the building tension as you start to worry just how far Pammie will go, is excellently done. I did not see the ending coming, and it boosted my planned four stars straight up to five. Highly recommended if you like superbly crafted psychological suspense novels with a satisfying twist.

Many thanks to NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I honestly wasn’t a huge fan of this book. It had some quality’s I enjoyed the beginning started out well I liked Adam and Emily’s relationship for the most part until the mother came into the picture. It then became somewhat typical and drawn out to me. I think what held me back from it enjoying more was the writing style it made the book seem slightly boring in parts. I did enjoy the massive twist at the end I was not expecting that at all! I think this writer has a lot of potential to make a great thriller maybe with a less written about premise she could really soar she managed to surprise me which is a great quality.

Ok so I really didn't like the actual writing of this book. The dialogue was awkward and unrealistic and the characters were all just so dumb. But somehow despite that, I actually enjoyed the book!

I was given the opportunity to receive this ARC by netgalley for my honest review. I’ll admit that this book started out slow for me. I went in expecting an immediate thriller but the first 30% or so sounded like a girl that was obsessed with her new relationship and the troubles she would go through during it. I kept pushing through and boy am I glad I did! I loved the storyline and the ending really surprised me! All loose ends were tied up and I’m so happy I read it. Definitely a great psychological thriller, and I don’t know what it is about books based in and written by the English, but they write amazing thrillers! I hope you read it and enjoy as well!!

Truly could not put this down! A love story, a family drama, a mystery, wrapped in a fantastic thriller! If you've ever had a boyfriend, fiance, mom, or mother in law, you'll love it! I enjoyed every bit, and I'm not talking about characters because I don't want to give anything anyway, but I'm so grateful I read it, and highly recommend you do too!

While doing a little unwinding at a local pub, Emily bumps into a handsome stranger named Adam, and after a few witty exchanges she finds herself a little smitten, so they exchange numbers and then go their separate ways. She has her doubts that he will call, mainly because he seemed to be way out of her league, but within a day or two he surprises her and calls to set up a date. Shortly there after the pair find themselves quickly falling in love and spending every spare minute they have together, doing all the fun things new couples do. One of those things being, meeting their mate's families and friends, and while most of those introductions go well, there is one visit that doesn't... meeting Adam's mother. Emily immediately detects her condescending tone, also the way she examines her every move with a scowl on her face and she gets the feeling that his mother does not approve of his choice. Adam of course is oblivious to all of it, and tells her it will all be fine... but Emily is certain it won't be!

As soon as I cracked the cover on this one I knew I had a long night ahead of me, barely a chapter into it and the words took a hold of me, and didn't want to let go... it was downright riveting!! This was an impressive first read, the story line was absorbing, the characters were exquisitely crafted and easy to connect to, and the ending rocked me to my core!! I highly recommend you get your hands on this one on release day, it's a thriller tale that packs a serious punch!!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this title.

Well, mother in laws. The place where nightmares are born. I am totally kidding. I actually don't have a mother law technically in the picture, yet I am married. I will let you mull that out. I did come across a few mother of exes that I am glad to have passed the torch to some other poor soul.

This was a mild thriller that is more like "chick lit" as some people have said, yet I was reading until 2am, so it obviously has its perks. Go into reading this without reading reviews or anything! You may guess the ending, I sort of did. You may want to tell the main character the GTFO...I know I did. And you may want to punch a person...or more. Really quick and tense read! Thanks Netgalley for this!

Ahhh this book is SOOOOOO good! I looooved The Other Woman - but I hated how it made me feel. I was having anxiety so bad reading this. I really felt like I was in certain situations and I totally felt ALL the emotions as I was reading it. I felt like my whole brain was inside this book - and omg did Pammie make me SO angry!!

The Other Woman is a figure so many of us have in our lives... the dreaded mother-in-law. While mine is pretty amazing in real life, I know of so many friends who are not so lucky. The strain of having a bad relationship with a MIL has got to be so hard on a realtionship. But when it's borderline evil... I cannot even imagine. I literally was having chest pains reading this and felt like I was also going through all of the horribly awful things that Emily had to endure from her love Adam's psychotic mother, Pammie.

I sped through this. I needed to know what happened. If I put it down, I couldn't get it out of my head. But I had to put it down for fear of a panic attack! Its been a long time since I actually felt such strong emotions from a thriller. I got totally addicted and loved every minute of it. And when I got to the last page, about Sandie Jones, and read it was her debut?!? What the what!? New favorite author here. Must find out when her next book comes out.

Bravo. 5 Stars all around. One of my favorites this year so far.

I received a free e-copy of The Other Woman by Sandie Jones from NetGalley for my honest review.

This was a fantastic read. Very gripping, intense psychological thriller. It kept you guessing till the very end.

This is a story of woman named Emily who falls in love whit a man named Adam. Adam's mother, Pammie, who doesn't want to share her son with anyone keeps trying to sabotage anything she can to make Emily's life a living hell. She is rude, evil and will stop at nothing to tear them apart. How far will Pammie go to keep Emily out of Adam's life? What really happened to Rebecca, Adam's deceased ex-girlfriend? Such a great read.

This novel was fast-paced and it reeled me in from the first chapter! I thought the author done a great job of introducing the characters. The story developed into quite a masterpiece with many twists and turns that I did not see coming! Definitely would recommend this novel to anyone who likes the "family drama" genre.

I was worried this book would not live up to the hype, but am am happy I was wrong. The Other Woman is a clever page-turner and the ending delivered a twist I did not see coming! I did have trouble understanding why Emily stayed with Adam in light of all the trouble the relationship was causing, her (not spoiler, don't worry!), but other than that, I really enjoyed this book. I won't go too much into the plot, because I really don't want to reveal anything that would spoil it, all I will say is that it held my rapt attention from start to finish. I am impressed it is the author's debut and look forward to her next one!

I can't believe this was a debut novel? Is it really? Thanks to Minotaur books for sending me a copy of The Other Woman by Sandie Jones. I could not put this one down. Although I did suspect that I knew what was going to happen, I kept second guessing myself to the end. This book was very fast-paced, with short chapters and kept me saying "one more chapter", until it was 1:00 am on a work day.

Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for the opportunity to read this is return for an honest review.

Read this book straight through. Fast-paced thriller that kept me guessing until the end!
Emily and Adam met at a seminar "after" at the bar. They dated after that and after awhile, Adam brought Emily to meet his mother. Adam is fiercely loyal to his domineering and sometimes outright confrontational, mother, Pammie. She becomes confrontational and even demonstrates her love for Adam's ex-girlfriend, who is deceased. What will this do to a still new relationship between Emily and Adam? Within 2 months, Emily and Adam move in together. Yet, when Emily meets Adam's brother, James, there also is a spark that smolders.
At Adam's 30th birthday party, he proposes to Emily. Pammie immediately collapses (true to form) and ends up (over)staying at Emily and Adams place. Pammie continues her petty barbs towards Emily and Adam appears to side with mom. Wow, that really gets to Emily! However, Pammie catches Emily and Adam in the throes of passion, returns home, leaving Adam too upset to have sex with Emily. But James appears on the scene, again. As much as Emily desires his offer of comfort, she politely rejects James' overtures.
Adam begins to imbibe in drink more and becomes mentally abusive towards Emily.
However, at the rehearsal dinner for their wedding, Pammie announces that she has cancer. Adam insists that the wedding be postponed until his mother recovers. Emily thinks Pammie is pulling another stunt and starts checking out Pammie's "story". It appears to Emily that Pammie is hiding secrets. Soon after, Emily becomes pregnant. Not long after, James finds someone else, Kate, and marries her.
Emily and Adam's little girl, Poppy, is born soon after
The events that take place after Poppy's birth are brilliantly described and the tangle of deception begins to unwind. The downward spiral, if not startling, is not as anticipated! The ending is fast-moving towards an unexpected and surprise conclusion. This book is a must read! Thanks to NetGallery and Minotaur for the change to review this gem!

4.5 amazing stars (rounded up)!

When a friend suggested we buddy read The Other Woman together, I read the description and I was hesitant - it sounded so similar to breakout hit ‘The Girlfriend’ by Michelle Frances which I read earlier this year, but after reading other positive early reviews, I said “why not” and I’m so glad I did. A new relationship, a mysterious past, a meddling future mother-in-law, throw them together and you have quite the story here - but be careful, things aren’t always what they seem!

Thank you to Minotaur Books for an advance copy, all opinions are my own.

Wow what a read! This book had me hooked from the first page. All the twists and turns always thinking I had it figured out was I wrong. I couldn’t have loved this book anymore 5 very deserving stars. So far my very favorite book of 2018

This has a twisty plot and is an addictive page turner with a quirky cast of characters….

Enter Pammie - Controlling mother like no other! A bit of advice to Emily (her soon to be daughter in law), pack your bags and RUN.

Unfortunately, Emily is one of those friends who won’t listen to anyone because she knows best. She loves Adam with all her heart and won’t allow anyone to come between them (so she thinks anyway).

Can I just say…the war is on and Pammie doesn’t like to lose.

Very entertaining read!

The Other Woman by Sandie Jones is a thriller about a relationship hindered by a mother-in-law. Emily meets Adam - smart, confident and funny. Their relationship progress nicely until Emily meets Pammie, Adam's mother. Pammie seems to be an angel in everyone's eyes, but to Emily, she is a manipulative and vindictive person. Emily tries to make Adam see his mother's true colors, but Adam does know see his mother as malicious. This takes a toll on Emily and Adam's relationship. Can their relationship overcome all, or will Pammie get her way and get rid of Emily once and for all?

I admit that I started this book expecting it to be a big cliche, like most books about a relationship and the guy's mother comes in between the couple. Boy, was I wrong! The plot twist hit me unexpectedly and I loved the book so much more for it. The author did a great job with an original idea. I did find some plot holes and was left with pending questions by the ending.

This is a must read!

Thank you to the NetGalley, the publisher, and author for providing me with an ARC in exchange for a honest, unbiased review.
