I totally loved this book. When the mother-in-law, Pammie made her appearance I felt pulled back in time remembering my own lovely ex-mother-in-law. Narcissistic Adam was the only other character in the book that was unlikeable. As it dredged up so many strong memories I thought I knew exactly where this story would go. I was wrong! This is a page turner that will keep you flipping pages when you should be sleeping! I am looking forward to more books from this author. #chapterchatterpub

3.5 stars - good domestic thriller, well-crafted. This book kept me guessing throughout and was well worth some of the annoyances for the characters along the way (you'll see). This was unlike any thriller I have read recently, which was refreshing. Well done.

Oh Sandy....thank you for this book! So I have to say, when I first began reading I did NOT expect the twists and turns that were to come. As Emily and Adam’s relationship progresses, things turn a little strange with his mom Pammie. Sabotage? Super protective? You just need to read because I could not put this down!

#sandiejones #theotherwoman #pammie i read this in two nights - quite a record for me these days as nothing seems to grab or hold my attention that quickly. the other woman in this scenario is pammie, the mother-in-law-to-be, and she's a doozy. sometimes i found main character and bride emily's thought processes to be annoying - and i wanted to scream "NO....walk away..." and i couldn't figure out why she continued to proclaim her love for adam, when he and his mother clearly exhibited all the hallmark traits of a raging narcissist. still, it all makes sense, sort of, by the denoument. whatever plot points that didn't quite fit - i was still compelled to read breathlessly to see how this tale unspun, and that, for me, definitely rates four stars+.

This book had me hooked from the very start. A true page-turner that had me reading late into the night to find out what happens next. I loved reading about the different characters in the book and their relationships with one another.

It was interesting to read about Emily and Adam's relationship, and the dynamics of it. The ups and downs and the mind games, especially from the seemingly monster mother-in-law.

So this book was kind of silly and I didn’t love the style it was written in (kind of read like fan fiction to be honest) however it was fun, easy and I definitely didn’t see the end twist coming. Good soapy, summer reading.

Well written! At times I wondered but something gripped me and kept me reading and I’m sure glad I did. This book is about loving someone, a mother in law who often appears crazy and so much more. Definately would recommend!!

Emily has finally met the man of her dreams and life is looking good until she meets his mother, Pammie. Pammie seems to be doing everything to turn Emily against Adam but Emily feels like she's the only one that sees what Pammie is doing. Why is Pammie doing this? What will Emily do to make the man she loves see what is going on? A crazy read that will have you questioning what is happening right up to the very end.

This book......OMG! From the very first chapter, I was completely intrigued and didn’t want to stop reading. The storyline between Pammie and Emily had me shaking my head and thinking to myself at multiple times, “Did that seriously just happen??” The entire novel was filled wIth suspense, and the ending had me on the edge of my seat. If you’re looking for a big twist, you MUST read this book. Definitely one of my top favorites for 2018 so far!

Intriguing story... the kind that makes you call into work or cancel plans. Emily meets Adam and she is swept off her feet. She’s had a rough go on previous relationships and she wants to make sure this is right. Adam is self sufficient, charming, funny and boyish in a fun way. It seems like it’s a perfect fit. But ...and that’s it. I would do you no favors by giving any more details. The sheer enjoyment of this book is the easy pace of the story and then a direction you don’t see coming. I wasn’t constantly
worrying about missing clues or guessing what was going to happen next. I finished this book yesterday but just wanted to relish it. I feel like I know and relate to the characters and now they are my family and my friends. I will miss them all! I will anxiously await this authors next book . This is a book that crosses genres.

Short Take: You can’t see red flags if you’re wearing rose-colored glasses.

Can we all take a moment to appreciate fictional terrible mothers, and all the contributions they have made to modern entertainment? I haven’t done much (read: any) research on the rise in popularity of stories based on horrific mothers who make monsters of their sons, but I think that Psycho was the one that started it all. Although, I suppose I could make a case for the idea going as far back as Oedipus, right? But wait, he didn’t know that the hot queen he was banging was his mom, so maybe not? Anyway, the point stands that crazy mothers make for compelling stories.

Which leads me to The Other Woman, which begins with Emily, our heroine, meeting the man of her dreams, Adam. The pair have a short but intense courtship, with Adam checking every box on Emily’s Perfect Man List (all women have those, right?), except for one teensy tiny little flaw in their bliss: Pammie, Adam’s mother, does not want Emily in Adam’s life.

It doesn’t help that Pammie is much smarter and more determined than Emily. True to the ads, The Other Woman ends with a twist I didn’t see coming. But I can’t exactly say that I enjoyed it very much. The power struggle between Emily & Pammie was kind of cliche for the most part, and without the darker undertones supplied by Adam, could’ve been lifted straight out of an episode of Everybody Loves Raymond.

You know how we all have that one friend, who’s constantly in a state of crisis, and you know that at least 75% of their misery could be avoided if they would just put on their big-person panties and stick up for themselves, but they never do? And so you let them go on and on and on and ON about their latest Awful Thing while you’re washing dishes or playing solitaire and making sympathetic noises, because you think they are genuinely a good person, but you kind of want to tell them to grow up and move on already and stop letting people walk all over them and maybe they wouldn’t be so miserable but you don’t want to hurt their feelings so you just let them vent?

Emily is TOTALLY that friend. Pretty much every time Pammie pulls something shady, or Adam ignores his mother’s meddling or gets angry at Emily for trying to tell him what’s going on, Emily’s response is to whine to her friends “BUT I LOOOOOOOOOOOVE HIMMMMMM!!!!”. It’s just as frustrating to read in a book as it is to live through in real life, only without the option of being able to say “Girl, you need to get the heck out, like yesterday. Ain’t no man worth all this bull puckey.”

And the epilogue was pretty awful. Anything I say will be a spoiler, so I’m just going to say it was lousy, and go find some vodka.

The Nerd’s Rating: THREE HAPPY NEURONS (and a chocolate digestive, because I have no idea what that even means, but hey, it has chocolate in the name, so it has to be good, right?)

This book is addictive for all the right reasons plus it's my favorite kind of book- the one day-er! Not very often do the twists and turns of a book seem unpredictable to me but I have to give it to The Other Woman.... WOW!! I could not believe this was a debut novel. BRAVO to Sandie Jones - I look forward to your next books.

The Other Woman takes relationship drama to the NEXT LEVEL. This is so disturbingly dark yet intriguing, you will not be able to stop turning the pages.

An absolute must read for summer 2018.

I loved this book. Great story line (fiancee/mother in law drama) with a twist!

It is thought provoking what relationships do to a person even more so when one has to balance between mom and wife. This book is what I call a one night read. I could not put it away.

I loved this thriller and read it in one day! When Emily meets Adam she is smitten by his charm and their relationship progresses quickly until she meets his mother, Pammie who is cold and seems to undermine their relationship from the beginning. Throw in Adam's dead girlfriend from the past, his brother who is also apparently attracted to Emily, her flatmate, and her gay friend, and the wild ride begins and doesn't lose momentum. I found myself cringing at Emily and Pammie's confrontations that only get uglier with time and wincing at Adam's increasing drinking and violence toward Emily. Once their baby makes her entrance, mayhem ensues and all hell breaks loose! Whose secrets are real and what is the truth surrounding Pammie's intentions toward Emily? You won't know until the end but it is clearly satisfying!

I really enjoyed this book! At first it started out like a entertaining little chick lit book with a horrible mother in law to be. Suddenly it turned it to a page turner suspense filled book that I could not wait to see what happens next. I was completely stunned at the ending. Not what I suspected at all. What a great read this was. What a fantastic debut from this author. I look forward to reading more from her! I loved how the book changed gears and suddenly everything you thought you knew was all wrong.

FIVE STARS! This book is a one-sitting read! Brilliantly written psychological thriller with a surprising ending. If you enjoy reading suspense/thrillers, then this book is one to add to your shelf. I can't wait to read more from Sandie Jones.

Remember…when you choose to marry the man, you are also marrying the family.

Emily is looking forward to meeting Adam’s mum, Pammie. But from the very first meeting, she has to wonder if Pammie was really looking forward to meeting her. As she retrieves tea, she purposely leaves open her photo album, with a picture of Adam and another smiling woman staring up from the pages. The caption underneath the photo reads: Darling Rebecca-miss you every day.

Who is Rebecca? What happened to her? Is she the reason that Pammie is not embracing her son’s new girlfriend?

Although I liked the premise, the first half of the book was very slow moving. It read more like chick lit than a psychological thriller. If I had not made a commitment to read and review, I probably would not have finished.

Emily wrinkled her nose at least 5 times, eyes twinkled, brains whirred, people tutted...it was hard to get caught up in a story that did not sound authentic.

The author chose to give Emily, a gay best friend, Seb, that was almost forgotten in the second half of the book.

Conversations in the story which made the characters giggle uncontrollably, did not even make me smile.

I could not understand why or how Emily fell for Adam, or vice versa, as the characters seemed immature and their relationship based completely on sex.

Perhaps if this book is marketed differently, it will find its correct audience. Readers who enjoy chick lit or perhaps domestic drama may enjoy this story. It does have a twist in the last 25% of the book, but that is the only section that perhaps weakly resembles a psychological thriller at all.

Clearly though, so far, I am in the minority, as the other reviewers have enjoyed this much more than I did.

This book was amazing, the pacing was so well done that I was able to finish it within a 3 hour sitting! Characters were well developed and constantly had me on the edge of my seat right up until the last page! As someone getting married in two weeks this was nerve wracking to read and I loved every second!
