This book caught my attention from the first page. I kept reading one more page, because I wanted to find out what happened next. Things started happening right away and the pace kept the story moving. The twists and turns take the reader on quite a ride, waiting to see what Pammie would do next. I felt for Emily and Adam thought the story, and the surprise ending was great. I really enjoyed this book!

Emily loves Adam but Adam loves his mom Pammie too. Pammie loves Adam a little more than Emily does.

The Other Woman by Sandie Jones is a very fast read and you feel like a twist is coming though the whole book.

Pammie does everything in her power to ruin Emily and Adam's relationship. She hates Emily to the bone. After they become engaged Pammie gets worse.

You'll want to read this as fast as you can. You want to know if Pammie gets worse as time goes or if she can break up Emily and Adam before they wall down the isle. Soon you won't know what is real and what Pammie may be faking.

Emily tries and it almost makes her lose her mind.

There is a surprise twist at the end that even though you know a twist is coming you don't even know or expect it to come your way.

Loved the ending! Completely unexpected! There were parts of the book that I struggled with, but overall a very good read! Will recommend!

Ahh the mother-in-law, a woman so many wives love to hate. It was interesting to see what the mother-in-laws role was in this novel. I felt that the story was incredibly relatable at times, and I was worried about what the MIL might do. I was SURE I knew how this was going to end, yet I was entirely wrong. My favorite type of books are the ones in which I guess the ending incorrectly. This was an easy, engaging read that I didn't want to put down.

Absolutely LOVED it!! My first book by her, and will definitely not be my last. This book definitely lived up to all the hype.

When there other woman is their mother it can devaste a relationship. Emily really loves Adam but his mother Pammie is determined to put an end to their relationship! They'll be together over her dead body.
I don't know if I could've put up with the things Emily did! There's only so much one person can take before you have to throw the towel in. I found Adam to be cold while Emily was the total opposite. I wish Web was in more of the book. I liked him and Pippa.

I read about 50% of this book before giving up. I was very interested to know what the mother was going to do or what she had done in the past, but neither of the main characters were likable enough for me to want to continue. I might circle back on it in the future if the right time arises but.... I had much higher hopes than what was delivered!

The Other Woman by Sandie Jones is an exciting and tense novel about two women squaring off over one man. Or is it?

Adam is the perfect man. For Emily, who is working through a horrible past relationship, she have finally met her one true love. But what Emily does not realize is that Adam has another woman in his life. A woman who is not quite ready to let him go.

Pammie is Adam's mother and from the start, it is obvious that she does not like or approve of Emily. Pammie begins to make Emily look bad and uncaring. Adam, who can only see his mother as someone who has taken care of him for his whole life and now needs his care, cannot understand the way Emily treats Pammie. Soon, as their wedding day gets closer, the situation gets worse and now Emily must wonder if her very life is in danger.

The Other Woman is a novel that moves slowly and then builds toward the end with a very satisfying twist. I would have been far more enthused over this story except for one thing. I could feel any empathy for the main character at all. This is something that I have noticed lately with quite a few books. The main characters are so disagreeable or basically stupid, that as a reader you just don't give a damn if they get saved or win or anything.

I realize that this format worked pretty good back in Gone Girl, but it needs to be remembered that in Gone Girl, the main characters ended up together, not trusting each other. An uneasy alliance that made both of them unhappy.

In The Other Woman, Emily is just a self centered whiner that needs to beat Pammie more than she wants to be with Adam. And how Adam is a prize catch I don't know. Emily doesn't understand why Pammie just doesn't absolutely love her and every little thing Pammie does creates a huge issue. Yes Pammie seems to be doing all she can to sabotage the relationship, but it seems far more important to Emily to show up Pammie than it is to even keep her relationship with Adam.

For his part, Adam is constantly drunk and belittles Emily's friends. He's very possessive and it is hard to understand why Emily would put herself through everything that Pammie is doing to her to keep him. And we haven't even mentioned her sexual attraction to his brother yet.

Overall it is very hard to want Emily to come out ahead here. Yes, she is treated very poorly by Pammie and Adam, so why not walk away. Instead she persists, even though there is a part of her that is not really sure she even loves Adam. Unless she feels like she is losing him, then she really thinks she is in love.

It becomes confusing and even more convaluted with details I won't share because plot points should be read and not spoiled.

For me this is a good book and I did enjoy it but I could not empathize with the characters enough to love it. It was a car wreck I had to ogle but will pass by.

When I saw the Popsugar reading challenge prompt for “A book with an item of clothing or accessory on the cover,” I didn’t even have to dig around to find a book that would fit the prompt. I’ve had this e-copy of The Other Woman by Sandie Jones for awhile now. My Netgalley backlist is massive and I’m really trying to get caught up on reading and reviewing. (The way Netgalley works, the higher your reviewed and read percentage, the more likely you are to get approved for titles).

Even though I hadn’t read this book yet, the cover has stuck in my mind, especially since I got a very similar shot taken at my own wedding (see the images of the cover and my wedding dress below)! I knew this was a domestic thriller (which is a genre I really enjoy) and it had gotten some pretty decent reviews on Goodreads and Litsy, so I was excited to get a chance to dive into it. I also used this book for the #Booked2019 winter prompt “A new to you author.”

Pammie seemed kind to Emily, at first. But her hatred for Emily didn’t take long to rear its head. Her manipulation seems to know no bounds, commenting on Emily’s weight, outright lying to her, constantly demanding all of Adam’s attention. When Adam proposes, Emily starts to see the real Pammie—the one who will do anything to keep Adam all to herself.

I started reading this book on my Kindle during a slow afternoon at work. I had most of the afternoon to read it and by the time there were only 20 minutes left before I went home, I was 75% done. The book was really picking up tempo and I wanted to finish it before I had to drive an hour home and then work out and make dinner. I just couldn’t wait that long to find out the ending! So of course, a project came across my desk and I had to put my book down.

When I finally got home and went to work out, did my Kindle come with me to the elliptical? You bet your butt! I’ve never pushed myself as hard as I did when the big twist came at the end of the book. My husband thought I was a little crazy, but this is what we do for really good books.

The suspense is really well executed. Pammie is a good villain and I really believed that Emily was going to be stuck with her forever. In some books, this stalemate could make the plot stagnant. However, Jones keeps enough variables in play that you’re never sure which character is going to have the upper hand. Jones reveals the book’s amazing twist right when another shift of power would have started to bore the reader. Her pacing is spot on, which always takes a thriller to the next level.

Some of the characters, including Emily, can be a bit whiny and stereotypical. Adam is the macho man who works in software and comes home drunk at 3 am. His brother, James, is always jealous of Adam. Things like that. While these tropes are tired, and certainly didn’t work for some readers, I didn’t seem to mind them. Perhaps because I read a nonfiction book with an even more whiny narrator a few weeks ago, so I didn’t find this as hard to believe.

A quick note about the twist. I desperately don’t want to spoil it for you, because I honestly didn’t see it coming, and things like that should always be unspoiled. But. The twist twists a lot. The “bad guy” shifts a lot. And I didn’t think it needed to. So, without spoiling anything, the twist is unnecessarily messy, which is why I only gave this book a 4/5.

However, I still definitely recommend this book. The characters are easy to connect with (perhaps because they are stereotypes, which means we know what to expect of them) and again, that twist, guys. It doesn’t have to be perfect to be good. If you like domestic thrillers, I recommend this one. It’s a nice change of pace to incorporate the mother-in-law, when so many of these books just focus on the husband and wife.

Emily falls in love with Adam but there is another woman in Adams life that makes things majorly difficult. Emily tries so hard to make Pammie love her but Pammie just an awful woman and unfortunately she is Adams' mom. Emily just doesn't understand what is going on and she keeps trying to tell Adam but she won't leave. Pammie is the devil but Emily keeps going along with it and complaining and whining to everyone who will listen after things get extremely bad. Pammie tries so hard to do everything to break up Emily and Adam, you sort of see why during the book but there is a big twist at the end. The book was intriguing. Not the best book I have ever read but it was good. I would read more by this author.

I totally loved this book. It had me guessing the entire time. Read it in one day. Adam was certainly an enigma. Highly recommended

I enjoyed this book as much as I thought I would. I love a good thriller novel that gets right into it so i was happy this one did.

This book was ok. I didn't hate but, but I didn't love it either. I felt like the story was slow and I didn't like the way the characters were fleshed out. I know it won't be ending up in my reread pile.

The book grabbed me on the very first page, making me wonder what was going to happen to the bride in the prologue.. It set the tone for this diabolically suspenseful story about extreme relationships. However, it was never made clear who the narrator was. It could have been either Adam or Pammie. We got to know Emily and Adam very early on, as the pace of the story moved along at a speed intended to draw us in. As it progressed, it picked up speed in the middle of the story, and then slowed way down towards the end, skipping months at a time. At first, Adam seemed the perfect man as his character was introduced slowly. His strange attachment to his mother, Pammie, had me wondering what her hold was on him. The first time we met her she was likable enough, being able to justify all the misunderstandings about Emily eating dinner with them. As the book progressed and Pammie's acts become more wicked, Emily started wondering if she was imagining it all. However, it made me read faster, wondering why Adam was so apparently clueless to her evil shenanigans. I had a hard time accepting that Pammie could be so evil and in fact started thinking it was getting ridiculous. The timeline skipped too much from the middle to the end, and I had a hard time recognizing the characters as they evolved.

Not a woman he is having an affair with-but his mother. Would you try to prove to your fiancé that his mother is crazy and see things from your eyes? The Other Woman is a refreshing fast-paced thriller that will leave you on the edge of your seat to see what the heck is wrong with the mother.
