Found this book a disappointment and had nothing to do with it missing photographs. Was looking forward to reading this book with the hope that I could add it to our library collection (we have a huge jewelry-crafting followers). There are several unique takes on creating beautiful pieces but the materials needed are ones not readily available in the United States. This point is confirmed by the inclusion of only one supplier of materials in the USA. A simple Google search will bring up hundreds. Most crafters usually will not buy beads outside of the USA as the shipping rates can be astronomical.

This is a great book on some common beading techniques. A well written, easy to follow description of each technique is given, the pictures that go with each technique I cannot comment on their helpfulness for each technique as the electronic version pictures were very blurry, I can only hope that the paper version is better.
This would be a great reference book for anytime inspiration strikes. Good for beginners and intermediate beaders.

Whilst this is a beautiful presented book with easy to follow instructions, I found the projects rather dated. If you are looking and learning various techniques in beading, this book would meet those needs beautifully.

Nice basic information. I received this ebook as an advance reader copy via NetGalley. The photos of the finished products were missing. Difficult to easily make a decision of which project to make. I felt as if I were in a beading class during the first portion of the book. Good information. I like the skill level and time requirements.

This is just the type of beading book I need: short projects that are do-able in a weekend. As the parent of a toddler, I don't have a lot of free time, and I also can't leave larger beading projects sitting around in progress unless I want my kid to eat the beads. It's got a lot of photos to explain materials, tools, and techniques.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that the projects aren't all strung beads. I don't know why, but I imagined the book would be mostly beaded jewelry, especially beads strung by hand. Instead, the book includes several different types of beading: threading beads onto string/wire by hand, bead embroidery, bead loom projects, and even a method for decorating surfaces by applying beads (in this case, beads applied to the surface of a candle).

While I don't like every design, that's not a negative. I have no unrealistic expectation to find a pattern book where I'm going to love every design. The book is strong on technique, so even if you don't like the particulars of a project design, it gives you what you need to know to make what you do want. I've done a little beading before but I think this book would work equally well for absolute beginners and folks like me who have a few projects under their belt. Advanced beaders would probably not find anything new here technique-wise but may get inspiration from the projects.

Bonus: the list of suppliers at the back of the book includes sources for the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. It's unusual to find a craft book that caters to more than one country.

To veteran beaders looking for a challenge, this book may disappoint, but new comers or less practiced beaders will find lots to enjoy. I'm not highly skilled at beading, but felt that I could tackle most of what the book presents, and the designs are modern and flexible enough that they are appealing to start. The jewelry looks like items I would want to wear and the materials are accessible enough to find with relative ease. Some good ideas, but may be a bit boring for the experienced reader looking for a challenge. Perfect for the beginner looking for a guide to start with, with easy to understand instructions and contemporary patterns.

This is a book for beading beginners who want to find out about the range of projects that can be made with beads. It has four different chapters: General Beading, Stringing, Bead Embroidery, and Wirework. Most of the projects that I personally like are jewelry items in the Stringing and Wirework chapters and a few projects in the Embroidery chapter. A lot of the other items do not speak to me, for example the beaded lampshade or the beaded candle. But this is just a matter of my personal taste. The illustrated instructions for each project are easy to follow. And if you master stringing the pearl necklace in this book, you can string all kinds of necklaces with a myriad of bead options just the same way. The same goes for the embroidery projects. You can learn the basic techniques and then apply them to totally different projects. If you are creative, you can definitely learn from this book.

This is a collection of 30+ (31 by my count) beading projects. There are decor articles as well as a fair number of jewelry and beading enhanced fashion and accessory pieces. The scope of the designs is heavily slanted to the beginner and quick-finish projects.

Roughly the first 25% of the content is introduction along with the standard picture tutorial of findings and techniques. One caveat, the pictures for the actual techniques for the beading sections are not very detailed or close-up. It is a good introduction to the techniques, netting, peyote, square stitch etc, but for tutorials, there are much clearer instructions available online.

The next 70% is given over to projects and patterns, roughly grouped by technique: General Beading, Stringing, Bead Embroidery, and Wirework.

The end of the book includes a short suppliers list with website affiliations, index, some of the patterns and photo credits.

This would make a good gift, along with some basic supplies, for someone who has been interested in learning to bead. The projects are easily finished without a large commitment in supplies or time.

This book has all the information that you would need to get started beading. Beginners would really benefit from the exhaustive technique instructions and helpful how-to photographs.

The first fifty pages cover general beading methods, stringing beads, bead embroidery and wirework. After that, the patterns are divided into the same four categories. Each pattern is labelled Easy, Intermediate or Difficult, and lists the estimated amount of time that the pattern should take. Per the title, most of the patterns are said to be able to be completed in a weekend, although there is one masterpiece of beadwork that cheerfully lists 50 hours as the estimated time for completion.

Other features include explanations of tools and materials needed, a list of suppliers and a few templates for shapes and letters at the back of the book. I liked the ease of the book, and the thoroughness of the instructions. This would be a nice gift for the beginning beader or the busy person who enjoys crafting.

Beading is a craft that I am interested in learning and was actually browsing a local craft shop admiring all the beads a few days ago. With so much on display, I wouldn't have had a clue where to start with trying the most simplest of projects. What a coincidence to have come across a copy of this book.

This is an excellent book with varied projects for the beginner, intermediate and the advanced. Plenty of illustrations. Just about everything that one needs to know about beading can be found in this book. I hope to achieve some of these projects in time to come, but will start with a simple necklace or bracelet first. Recommended.

This is lovely project book for both beginners and more advanced beaders, who would love to find the new inspirations. The book aims for the the weekend projects or gifts for your loved ones (master beaders might not be the target group, but the general audience will be pleased by the presented projects).

The projects have quite wide range, from jewelry to lampshade with some general beadwork, stringing, bead embroidery, and wirework thrown into the pot.
The instructions are quite detailed with lost of photos and design pictures.
I will certainly try Knotted-Cord Necklace, Embroidered Shawl, Bead-Embroidered Table Runner, Bead-Encrusted Evening Bag and Beaded Lamp Shade.
