Love this book! The patterns are not for a beginner, but for a more advanced knitter. The patterns are clear and easy to understand. Sizing for each project is diverse. The pictures are colorful and really grab your attention.

I am a visual learner. What held me back from more complex knitting for a long time was slogging through reading patterns. It wasn’t until I learned to read lace charts that I truly became much more adventurous in my knitting.

Margret Huber’s One-Piece Knits lays out the simplicity of top down sweaters, side to side and simple one piece construction sweaters.
Charts show how many stitches to cast on, increase, decrease all at the prescribed intervals.
And, Margret Huber’s years of experience of an instructor shines as she clearly explains essential techniques for gauge, seaming, installing zippers (the best I have seen!) .

Patterns are included that illustrate each style of one-piece sweater. These instructions are also a worthwhile read, as they will give insight on how to interpret other knitting patterns.

Indeed, the chart format is an essential tool for a top down raglan or yoke sweater. The chart format in this book can be adapted to other patterns to help knitting go a little more smoothly. For top down sweater knitting, Margret Huber’s book will join Barbara Walker’s book on Knitting From the Neck Down on my shelf.

I received a copy of this book from Net Galley to review. Thank you!

I received this book free for an honest review.

I really like the amount of information given in this book. There are sweater patterns for size 2 children's to 5X woman's and XX males. You can use yarn sized 1 to 5. Most of the patterns are fairly simple in style but if you have experience knitting garments you can fix that easily enough. Being a new knitter and never have done a garment before. This books takes a lot of the complication out of it, so that I feel I could do this. You can knit the sleeve in one piece with the back and front and have very minimal seaming to do.

The charts are really easy to understand. I think this book would be good for an experienced beginner to expert knitter.

This is an excellent resource on basic seamless sweater construction, gauge, sizing, and modification. Terrific for anyone interested in knitting a first sweater, picking up a new go-to sweater pattern, or creating their own sweater patterns from scratch!

The knitting community will go crazy over this book! The sweater patterns are stylish and I love the way that the instructions are written in the charts. Very clear and concise. I will definitely purchase a copy when it becomes available! You can't go wrong with anything written by Margaret Huber.

Note: I received an Advance Reading Copy of this book through NetGalley for an honest review.

I love knitting, but one thing that always intimidates me is putting a piece together. It never looks as nice as the model, and it's always kind of a letdown. So when I saw this book I knew it would be perfect for me.

It's even better than I expected. The book is brilliant. It takes four basic sweaters (raglan, yoke, side-over and back-to-front) in two variations (pullover and cardigan). For each sweater it offers 22 (!!!) sizes (children's from 2 up to 16, women's XS up to 5X and men's S up to 2X). And then as a bonus it offers three extra variations (with cables, colours, patterns etc.), instructions for different collars, button bands and how to insert zippers.

I can honestly say that if you want a basic model sweater, this book has it all. Couple of caveats: You need to be able to measure your recipient well for the right sizing. Knitting a swatch is very important, as the book is so general that it's not written for a specific yarn brand. Despite my presumption that there wouldn't be any sewing there is still some (on the side-over and back-to-front sweaters), but it doesn't seem too bad. The difficulty is probably medium. You need to be able to read a pattern without much visual help (only a basic drawing of the sweater model) and some basic stitching including increases and decreases and working with stitches on a holder.

A great selection of basic knit tops. LOVE the wide range of sizes and instructions for various yarn weights for patterns. Not for new knitters, but if you have one or two simple garments under your belt and want to expand your knowledge, this is a great book to get.

Great reference work for someone who wants a recipe for all kinds of sweaters (and cardigans) knit in one piece. The only type of sweater that isn't referenced in this sweater is the contiguous sleeve method. This would be a good book for people who want a basic sweater template for yarn they have on hand (since the author gives numbers of stitches for multiple weights of yarn) and/or want a canvas for interesting stitches to incorporate on the base pattern. If you want a sweater book full of very exciting designs, this is probably not for you. But if you want a standard recipe to try out or extrapolate, this is a great book.

The Complete Guide to One-Piece Knits is a comprehensive book for making hand knit sweaters. It is a very knitter friendly book. It is also very well organized, providing basic Information including charts for Children’s, Women’s, and Men’s sweaters in different weight yarns, sizes and gauges. This is a must have book for every knitter’s library.

Unfortunately (and sadly), I wasn't able to access this manuscript.

An interesting take on knitting and because I've often knit things then left them in a bag for months before sewing them together I thought this would be ideal for me. However, I thought some of the ideas were a little old-fashioned.

Unfortunately, I personally did not find this book easy to follow, I also though that whilst knitting a jumper or cardigan in one piece, would save time, would prove a very large project. But apart from that, I did not like the additions of the size graphs, although some knitters would probably find these easier and more useful at a quick glance, rather then find the information in the pattern.
What I did like was that the basic patters could be adapted to a personal design easily, making the knitter their own designer of the garment

Knitters will love this book! I requested an eARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review and for someone who is interested in knitting and wanted to try out new patterns of different sizes, this book was a great guide.

Oh my, you want a complete book that gives you instructions on how to knit one piece knits then this is your book. The author gives you children, womans (small to 5xl), & mens. I can not wait to try some of these out. I wanna make one of each of the styles (Top Down, Side Over, and Back to Front). I can not wait to dig my needles into them. Margaret Hubert gives you detailed size charts and instructions for each size and type.

If you knit and want to knit clothing then you need this book. Well written, lovely photos, and even better instructions.

I'm a knitter, but I've never tried a sweater before. This book's easy to understand charts and directions make me think that I can do this. It is very informative & gives variations on each theme so you have plenty of choices. As a 'bigger woman" I love that sizes for women go up to 5x & 2x for men. I was given the opportunity to review an ARC of this book for NetGalley and the publisher.

This is great for the family knitter. Basic simplified instructions for sweaters for all, children, ladies and men. Very good instructions with pictures. Varied takes on each piece. Good overall for your basic constructions.

I received an ARC of this book to read from NetGalley in exchange for a fair review. The Complete Guide toOne-piece Knits by Margaret Hubert is an excellent resource book for those of us who hate sewing up their sweaters. When I am done knitting I want the sweater to be done. Margaret gives instructions for sweaters that will fit almost anyone from size 2 children’s up to 6X adult in several different yarn weights as well. Most of the sweaters are knit top down on circular needles therefore eliminating my dreaded seams. She also does several sweaters knit from the bottom back up over the shoulders and down the front, you will have side seams in these sweaters but it’s an interesting technique I look forward to trying. I think this book would be a wonderful addition to any knitters reference library. Publishing Date April 3, 2018

A nicely composed guide to one-piece knitting, Hubert provides accessible charts for most common sizes, as well as cleanly list examples. While her examples look more homespun than elegant--a lot of lime green in this one--it's a handy guide for novice knitters, and a decent reference for intermediates.

A most useful volume for experienced, adventurous knitters. Just the tool to use to create very individual designs.

If you want to knit sweaters and only wanted ONE book to guide you through it, I would say that THE COMPLETE GUIDE TO ONE-PIECE KNITS is your answer. It contains a basic pattern for top-down raglan sweaters, top-down yoke sweaters, back-to-front sweaters and side-over sweaters, while also giving adjustments for every size between a child's size 2 to a men's size 2x (and women's size 5x). It gives estimated yarn amounts for DK/Sport, Worsted/Aran, and Bulky weight yarns, as well as how to make adjustments to each pattern to accommodate the different gauges. Basically, it really is the all informative book that would allow a knitter the chance to create their own patterns based on a basic pattern, as well as being an amazing guide to any one-piece sweater.
