Thanks so much to Tor Teen for providing me with a copy for review! Please forgive me for reviewing it so late.
I was really sucked into Like Never and Always. There was something really addicting about it. I felt like I couldn't look away.
I really enjoyed the writing style. There was something so easy and interesting about it. The whole body switcheroo thing grabbed me from the start. It was definitely the pull that made me pick this book up at first. In ways, I thought more was going to be done or revealed with that angle. I thought the why of it all was going to be much more important then it actually was. I do wish that we had got to see some of the real Morgan at the beginning, just so we could see what kind of character she was before she was lost.
The whole Liv becoming Morgan thing was very interesting. It wasn't like Liv could ever go back to her own body, so she had to deal with her new reality. Does she, or can she become the Liv that she was before the accident? It was just a very interesting journey to go on.
I am conflicted, very conflicted about the relationship aspect of this book. I think it's the fact that they are brothers, it just makes everything feel so complicated and a little wrong. Liv before she died is dating and in love with younger brother Nathan, but when Liv is now Morgan, she starts to develop feelings for the older brother Clay. I personally liked Clay more, but it just all felt very scandalous. It does a good job with the romance though.
The beginning of this book was full of twists and some red herrings. It was fun trying to figure out just where it was going to go. The direction that it took in the end wasn't the most exciting of avenues, but I was interested.
The ending was pretty suspenseful.
I was hooked when it came to Like Never and Always. I loved the body switcheroo story line, the twists, the turns, and the romance. It definitely kept me on my toes. I'm going to read more from this author.

Intriguing, but felt a lot like other YA mysteries out there that I've read. There was nothing super unique that set it apart from the others. Still, I was hooked and had to know what happened. The ending was a bit disappointing.

Thanks for the opportunity to read and review Like Never and Always. I've struggled to get into it so far, so I won't be reviewing at this time. If I do get to it in the future, I will review at that time.

I enjoyed reading this book so much! I wanted to learn more about Liv and Morgan, and how it was kinda paranormal with Liv being in Morgan's body, but this book more focused on the mysteries that Morgan left behind.

Liv was more a science nerd, while Morgan was popular and seemingly above it all. And Liv had to learn to navigate that world, and it was tough, because they didn't know what shew as feeling, what she was going through and they made judgments. Not fun!

So there were a few things that Morgan left behind for Liv to deal with. There was Morgan's mother's death which lead to the affair, and then there was her relationship with Clay-the brother of Liv's boyfriend, Nathan. Yeah, there were some pretty complicated dynamics!

There's this line, "you knew he was married." Uh, yeah, he knew he was married, too. And he's the one who made those vows. Also, she was underage. That means going after her instead of him, means that you have your priorities skewed. Going after the outsider instead of the one like you, yeah, that says more about you than them.

Loved this book, it was such a fantastic read!

Wow was this story confusing lol
I legit had to write some things down to keep track of what was happening and what had already happened. But overall, it was a great and unique read. I can always appreciate an author who can come up with something good that isn’t the same cliche story written over and over again.

The synopsis sounded so interesting, but I really couldn't get as into it as I hoped. It was a little far fetched at times and honestly I only got about half way through before I quit.

I appreciate NetGalley allowing me to read this story

This one was different than I had expected. I can say it is different than anything I've read before. This young adult thriller is about a girl who wakes up in her best friends body after a horrible crash. Her own body dead and buried. She wakes up thinking it's a mistake or a dream, but as she comes to terms with an unbelievable situation, she starts to learn so much about her best friend she didn't have a clue about, including her reason she is the one still there.
I don't want to give away the story so I'll just say this story kept my attention all day... then I realized I finished the book. HAHA I can honestly say I don't wish I was this girl or that I will ever have anything like this happen to me but it was still entertaining to read about.

I've read a few Ann Aguirre books, and this one was not my favorite. I found it interesting, but also a little confusing to keep track of everything going on. Because I was a little confused it was hard to become invested in the characters. I enjoyed the mystery part of it, and couldn't wait to figure out the end. Overall, it was a good book, just not my favorite.

At first, this book reeked of a similar book, The Secrets We Keep, which I really enjoyed despite it being cliché. I was starting to get mad because it was like an exact replica almost . . . then things got interesting.

I really enjoyed this book. I was pulled in from the beginning. I loved all of the elements, which started off a little played out and repetitive, but then things got flipped upside down. That’s when everything you thought you suspected became something else entirely.

What really irritated me about this book was the ending. There are some things that are just left in the balance or falls short. Other then that, you have a dark mystery with an almost sci-fi feel, tons of betrayal and blackmail. Maybe a little romance, but who can tell.

One of my favorite authors of all time. Sadly I didn't really care for this one. Ive always felt that her genre fiction, the horror and sci fi, was better than this stuff.

Creepalicious suspenseful thriller- I was on the edge of my seat the whole read. Cover with split face is a big attention grabber.

This was a nice, easy ya mystery read. Two stars were deducted for it being too tidy at the end and for being too unbelievable, buts it's enjoyable for what it is. I would recommend it for a beach read this summer.

❝ For the last sixteen years, I've been Liv Burnham... and apparently, I am dead. ❞

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts are my own!

Like Never and Always is a book that was deceptively good, although not without its flaws. The story follows Liv after a tragic accident that claims her life... and has her waking up inside her best friend's body. Now, as Morgan, Live must navigate a complicated love, home, and school life all while trying to figure out what it means to be Liv now that she's dead to the world. On top of that, Live starts to realize that Morgan's perfect life wasn't what it seemed to be.

Without spoiling the book, Liv finds out that Morgan was trying to solve a mystery from her family's past. She went to great lengths to find clues, any clues, and now Liv (as Morgan) is left to deal with the fallout.

What I loved best about this book was definitely the romance. Liv (now Morgan) finds her heart torn between two brothers. There's Liv-s-before-the accident boyfriend, Nathan and then Morgan's bad boy boyfriend Clay. You can expect things to be complicated and twisted, but also very sweet and steamy.

The only downside is that it was a little predictable about who the main character would end up with in the end. Right away you get the sense that Liv's opinions about the boys are going to be challenged, and slowly you sense the shift; one boy is clearly meant to be the better choice while the other takes a bad turn. That wasn't something I really wanted, but I think toward the end of the book we get a balance. Neither boy is better, it's just that was Liv needed before and after the accident changed. That was something I could accept more than just turning one of the boys into a villain.

❝ True family doesn't need blood ties; at the end of the day, they are the people who love you best, who laugh and cry with you, and who are always watching out the window when you come home. ❞

And while the basic premise of the book was interesting (the whole waking up in another person's body and living as them), I was not the biggest fan of the mystery/thriller elements of the story.

Honoring Morgan's last request was sort of made to be a big deal, but it really took more of a background role to the rest of Liv's situation. There were some instances where she would try to pursue clues or ask questions, but for the most part, the story focused on Liv/Morgan's family, love life, educational pursuits, and Liv's psyche. When we were shifting to the mystery side of the story it tended to be very brief and often didn't amount to very much.

Especially when it comes to the ending, the mystery/thriller aspects leave you wanting. Many of these facts that Live "uncovers" are big leaps she makes from small clues and that didn't really do it for me. The answers you crave for so long throughout the book tumble out easily in just one page and it just makes the moment very anticlimactic.

Like Never and Always is a book that's a little hard to pin down. If you're going into the book with more of a craving for romance and drama then this book is going to be very enjoyable. The romance alone could carry this book through for me; however, if you're going into it for the mystery/thriller side you might find yourself a little disappointed. But, overall, this book was a fun contemporary romance with hints of paranormal sprinkled in. This is one I definitely recommend for fans of romance.

Like Never and Always was released on July17th, it's a book that's worth checking out!

A huge thank you to Netgalley for a copy of this book to review.

I was utterly captivated by this read. I received it after publication and it took me a bit to start it, but once I started I couldn’t put it down.

The story follows Liv, who is driving with her boyfriend, his brother, and her best friend when they get in a car crash. She wakes up in the hospital, only to realize that she now is actually her best friend Morgan. Liv is said to have died in the crash, but she is still very much alive and mistaken for her best friend.

After she realizes that this isn’t a mistake, Liv struggles to pass as her best friend, all the while watching her family and boyfriend grieve. She is afraid that if she tells anyone who she really is, they will only think she has gone crazy. But as she begins to live as her best friend, Morgan, she realizes that her friend has been caught up in more lies and loneliness than she ever could have imagined.

The concept of the book was awesome, and the reason I requested the title. The writing was awesome, and it was lyrical and painted such a vivid picture for each scene. The author was able to describe the characters and scenes in such clear whiles without rambling and distracting from the storyline. Between the writing, the twisting and engaging plot, and a burning romance throughout the book, I couldn’t put it down.

I am not usually one for love triangles, but this plot line was so well done. Liv was dating Nathan, while her best friend dated his brother, Clay. But she can’t tell Nathan what really happened, and that she is still alive. And as she poses as Morgan, she begins to fall for Clay. It was so slow burning and I felt so heartbroken for our main character as I read this. Through the entire book, she is struggling to stay true to who she was while she lives as someone else. The love triangle really supports and shows this bigger plot line throughout the book, which is part of the reason I loved it.

I only have a small complaint that knocks a half star from my rating. I feel like the mystery in the book fell just a little flat. I would have loved for the stakes to have been higher, as I feel that would have complemented the suspenseful feel of the book. However, it was still interesting and kept me on my toes. I also cringed a lot as Liv finds out more about Morgan, but it was something I could really see happening.

If you’re on the mood for a book with suspense and intensity that highlights the raw emotion of being human, I definitely recommend this book.

Like never and always tells us the story of Olivia, Morgan, Nathan and Clay. One night they have an accident and Liv wakes up in the hospital in the body of Morgan, her best friend. She will discover that Morgan had secrets, that she was not perfect at all and she will try to solve the enigma left by her. She’s also going to learn to be a new person, not Liv or Morgan.

I loved this book, quite frankly for a long time I wondered how it was possible, a lot of theories went through my head and finally without answers or belief I was carried away by history.

Liv is an intelligent, shy young girl and she will have a lot of trouble between Clay and Nathan, between her future and her past. She is angry and I understand her, her body is not hers, her life is not hers, she doesn’t dare to talk about it because people would think she is crazy. On this point I don’t think she’s wrong. I love Liv very much, she doesn’t let what happened get in the way, she tries to understand why and she also tries to make her life something good.

Clay is also a character I like, it took me a while to understand the relationship he had with Morgan but I really liked that boy. Her brother, Nathan, who is Liv’s boyfriend to him, or at least was, is totally different, he made me much less of an impact. I may have been unhappy to see him so sad and self-destructing through guilt and loss, but I find Clay more touching.

Ann Aguirre is a goddess, no matter what she writes, she always manages to make me vibrate, I don’t know how she does it but I love her.

Quick word: An exciting and surprising book.

I’ll start off by saying that I really liked this book although at times I felt like I was forcing myself to keep going with it (that could just be because I prefer reading real books as opposed to staring at a screen though).

It was a rocky road experiencing life through Liv’s eyes as at times I felt her actions were difficult to account for even given the otherworldly circumstances. I kept wishing it had come as more of a shock to Liv that she was being mistaken for Morgan and from the very beginning I was annoyed that she had already come to the conclusion herself long before it got to the part that should have shocked us all. Liv accepted it fairly quickly and set about unearthing Morgan’s secret life but I suppose the book had to start somewhere and that it was her way of coping with it all and thinking all would return to how it should be.

I could not believe what Morgan had been keeping to herself and it really made me see her character in a different light (despite her not featuring as herself there was a lot of other views depicting the person she’d been before Liv’s take over).

I have read similar stories before and was worried that it would hold me back from fully enjoying this but it didn’t. There was so much going on and it gave me a lot to think about (particularly what I’d do in that situation) and I was very intrigued to find out more. The way the story was told was highly compelling and I really felt like I was in Liv’s (or more so Morgan’s!) shoes.

I would definitely recommend this book as it has a bit of everything to keep you interested (eg. Romance, mystery) and is a real treat to delve into!

This is one of those books that has a really strong premise that has been thrown off a little bit by the book's pacing. This book starts off incredibly strong, and Aguirre did a fantastic job of exploring the consequences of waking up in the body of your best friend. Once you've literally had to put on the other person's shoes it's impossible to hide from all of their secrets, and Liv and Morgan are no exception. As much as you want to think that you truly know somebody, there WILL be things about them that you just don't know, and this point is really hammered home through everything Liv discovers about Morgan in this book. It shows a real depth of character and human understanding, and I really enjoyed that.

I also really enjoyed the different relationships between Liv and the other characters in the book, especially her own family. It's hard to think about what your family might be going through after you die, and it's even harder when you're still there and they don't even know it. The sudden separation between Liv and her family is heartbreaking, and it was one of the most intriguing parts of the book to me. The romantic relationships were also interesting, but emotionally they felt very secondary to the familial relationships.

This very strong book was overall weakened by some pacing issues, particularly in the middle and the end, and a lack of understanding of just what genre or genres the book wanted to be. There was a LOT going on in this book, and rather than making it feel well-rounded it felt a little more jumpy and rushed in places. Even so, this was still a really good read and I enjoyed it overall.

Final rating: 4 of 5 stars

If you've ever wanted to live someone else's life, this is the book for you. For the entirety of their friendship, Liv was in awe of what she assumed was the perfect life. Morgan had her own car, money, and all the freedom that came along with it. What Liv didn't realize was that with all that freedom came a ton of responsibility.

For the most part, Liv was the girl next door. She had loving, involved parents, an annoying younger brother, and your average middle class life. Waking up in Morgan's body changed all of that drastically. Compared to Morgan, her life was boring, but predictable. The deeper she gets into Morgan's secret life, the more Liv comes to understand that boring and predictable have a comfort all their own.

The premise behind Like Never and Always was a good one. I think I may have watched entirely too many soaps with my grandmother as a child, but the whole idea of waking up in someone else's body immediately attracted me to this novel. I'll be honest, I first thought that it was due to a brain injury or some kind of selective amnesia, but I was wrong. While the reason for Liv being in Morgan's body wasn't explained well enough for my curious mind, you are at least given a somewhat decent reason for the swap. The way Liv stumbles into Morgan's secret life is interesting and true to the teens I know. And while the sort-of-maybe love triangle could have been left on the editor's desk, it did work out well in the end. Overall, a well-written young adult thriller suitable for teens or adults.
