“When life gives you Lululemons” by Lauren Weisberger is part of “The Devil Wears Prada” series, but I had no trouble following it without having read any of the previous books. The book details the trials of living high-profile lives while trying to keep sanity and sense of humor.
2018 is not starting out on a good note for friends Emily, Karolina, and Miriam. Emily works in Hollywood as an image consultant to the stars; in reality, she cleans up after them and tries to keep their troubles secret. Recently, however, she has lost a few clients. Miriam moved to Greenwich to spend with her children, but being a stay-at-home mom in a wealthy town filled with joggers in Lululemon leggings with elaborate mesh cutouts that look both cool and extremely cold is more difficult than her stressful legal career. Karolina is an A-list former super model who now faces a different kind of scrutiny as the wife of a United States senator who plans to run for president.
The book follows each of the three as they support each other and navigate upscale suburbia fraught with drama, trauma, and social media. Their over-the-top suburban lives are filled with truths and lies simmering just below the dazzling surface, and nothing is exactly as it appears.
I received a copy of “When Life Gives You Lululemons” from Lauren Weisberger, Simon & Schuster, and NetGalley. It was light-hearted fun and moves quickly. It is an entertaining book, but be careful, you might just laugh out loud as you read.

Lauren Weisberger has done it again! Anyone who is a fan of the Devil Wears Prada series will enjoy this next installment! This particular book focuses on Emily, After leaving her career at Runway she became an image consultant. If you are a celebrity or have enough money and a problem then Emily can help you fix it. She loves the hustle and hubbub of the city. So when Karolina Hartwell, retired supermodel and wife of a politician finds herself needing an image consultant Emily is her girl. The problem is that Karolina lives in Greenwich where the lawns are manicures and the moms wear yoga pants. This book has some funny and surprising parts! I can't recommend it enough! I'm so glad we got more Emily!!!

What a fun read!

The continuing story of Emily (The Devil Wears Prada) after leaving Runway and Miranda Priestly (although spoiler alert: Miranda does make some brief appearances) finds Emily married and living in LA. With her new business starting to fall apart, she visits her friend, Miriam, in Greenwich, Ct. and steps in to help former supermodel Karolina who has been arrested on trumped up DUI charges and whose politically ambitious husband has dumped her.

Emily is initiated into Greenwich society with all its first world problems. Maintaining her caustic, witty self, she becomes close with Miriam and Karolina and even closer with her husband, Miles.

A humorous jaunt, this is a quick read that makes a great escape from the literary world of psychological thrillers.

Let me start by saying I absolutely LOVE The Devil Wears Prada. It's one of my all time favorites. When I'm having a stressful time at work, I reread that book to make myself feel better. So Weisberger had a lot to live up to, especially since Revenge Wears Prada was such a huge disappointment for me. But I still HAD to read this one, especially since the main character in the book is Emily! You don't have to have read TDWP or RWP in order to enjoy this one, but I definitely think it will appeal more to those that have read them. Miranda Priestly does make an appearance!

I am happy to say it was a very strong addition to TDWP series, as it was well written, witty, snarky and everything you'd expect from a follow up novel. I was immediately hooked, could NOT put it down, raced through it in just a few days. I loved the new characters Karolina and Miriam, but especially loved learning more about Emily! I related so well to her! I was thrilled with everything about the book....until the ending. I feel like Emily had a pretty substantial character change at the end that just seemed inconsistent to me and a little too fast--all within the final 10% of the book. A lot of my reasoning may just be my personal views, but it still left me with a bad taste in my mouth at the end.

Overall--a solid 3.5 stars for this one! I still highly recommend adding it to your summer reading list!

When Life Gives You Lululemons is a great continuation of Emily’s story after Runway and Miranda Priestly. I enjoyed this so much better than book two in this series. Emily is as snarky and rude as ever and her life professional life is falling apart. Then there is Karolina, a supermodel married to a senator. Karolina gets arrested and charged with a DUI that seems super fishy. All aspects of her life are falling apart. Then there is Miriam, a friend to both of them. She gave up her high-stress job in the city to head to the suburbs with her husband and three children. Miriam thinks her husband might be having an affair. Karolina’s husband is having a very public affair and Emily has a husband that travels a ton and Emily likes to flirt. Emily helps celebrities with their images trying to get them to conduct themselves in certain ways and to help with managing their social media. The entire time I was reading this I could totally see Emily Blunt reprising her movie roll.

I cared for the three main characters and hoped that everything worked out for all of them. I couldn’t stand the women they encountered. I’m sure there are a lot of women like that in the world. And I liked the storyline. I really felt for Karolina. Even though she is a supermodel and should have some ease in front of crowds, she was klutzy and very downhome. She just wants to be a Mom. If you liked The Devil Wears Prada, you will enjoy this book.

An enjoyable read from Lauren Weisberger! Weisberger combines heavy subject matter with a lot of humor which makes this a light and enjoyable story. The characters thoughts and feelings are relatable as they navigate through some sticky situations.

This was trash. No values, no virtue, no respect for marriage, no good characters. Its disdain for suburbian life and motherhood isnt funny at all. The depiction of rich suburbian families and the crass extramarital sex, private parties and swinging that goes on is something you can't unsee. Emily didnt seem like she was that good at her job. Her PR pitches were blah and yet she kept name dropping as examples of how supposedly well she managed real life celebrities. Even her grand plan of helping Karolina was terrible- she had no desire to fight and pursue truth or justice and surprisingly, neither did the lawyer Miriam. In the end, neither one really helped their friend Karolina because it was someone else who no one cares about unless you read "The devil wears prada". If you read that book (I didnt) you may find this sequel more interesting than I did. As a stand alone, its the worst Ive read in a long time. Poor storyline, maybe a handful of funny witty dialogues, with characters I wouldnt even want to get to know in books or real life. I regret picking it up.

Would an aspiring presidential candidate set up his wife for a crime just to get rid of her, then marry his mistress? Nah, he wouldn’t do that – or would he?

When Life Gives You Lululemons, due out June 5, 2018, is the latest novel by Lauren Weisberger, author of the bestselling The Devil Wears Prada.
Curl up with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine and read this sad, yet funny book that you won't be able to put down.

Emily Charlton has left Miranda Priestly, and launched her own hugely successful image consulting business. That business is now suffering from competition by a younger social-media-savvy consultant who is stealing her clients. Enter former supermodel, Karolina Hartwell, married to a New York senator with his eye on the presidency.

Then there is Miriam, mutual friend of Emily and Karolina. Miriam is a high-powered attorney who has decided to take time off to raise her children, and finds herself stuck in the shallow company of uber-wealthy yet competitive stay-at-home moms.

Miriam needs intellectual stimulation. Emily needs business. These three women need each other, and while Emily manages Karolina’s image, Miriam attacks her legal affairs. This very serious, yet often hilarious tale explores the frustration of professional women who take time off from work to raise their children, and the backbiting competitive environment of bored, uneducated, wives of wealthy men.

Most importantly, however, When Life Gives You Lululemons is a commentary on the double standard we Americans set for our politicians. Even though our divorce rate is above 50%, we demand a faithful, never-divorced candidate for elected leadership positions – well, until 2016 we did. Has it really gotten to the point that, in order to have a divorce approved by constituents, a candidate must collude with police, then stoop to setting up the spouse as a criminal?

Watch for When Life Gives You Lululemons in June. You will laugh, cry, be angry, and laugh some more.

What Makes This Book Reviewer Grumpy?

- Incorrect word usage – for example, using “brought” when “took” should have been used, “spoonfuls” should be “spoonsful”, “she’s got” should be “she has”;
- multiple split-infinitives;
- misplacement of the word “only” within sentences;
- beginning sentences with conjunctions;
- having the narrator say “exact same” – the phrase is redundant.

OMG! I was hooked on this book from the moment I started it! It kept me wanting more & every time I picked it up to read more I asked myself what are these crazy women up to now! There some juicy parts, some parts that’ll make you madder than the hubs of hell & a lot of hilarious parts but this book is a great book and a quick and easy read! It’s a must read for this summer! I am very happy I got the chance to read the ARC of this book! It’s beautifully written!

Emily is back again and she is better than ever! I love the Devil Wears Prada books, and this book is a great continuation of that series. This is a quick, fun beach read, with just enough intrigue and just enough characters you will love.... and love to hate. If you are a fan of Emily, and who isn't??, you need to pick up this book this summer!

I was provided a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Light, snarky, funny and well written take on suburban wealth--sort of horrifying but also guilty pleasure of such a window into the world of pampered wealthy underutilized smart women

Fun and funny send-up of Greenwich, CT will be a big seller in the Hamptons this summer! Lively, relatable characters and contemporary storylines are fresh and never get bogged down. Lots of insight into how the "other half" lives without being too impressed. Will definitely recommend.

I must start this review out by stating I love everything about The Devil Wears Prada. I love the book. I love the movie. I bought the sequel the second I could pre-order it. So when I received an email from Simon and Schuster indicating that I received an advanced copy of When Life Gives You Lululemons, I danced around as best I could at 7 months pregnant.

This time around, we are diving into the world of Emily Charlton. Back then, she was the sassy first assistant to Miranda Priestly. Now she works in Los Angeles as an image consultant, but is starting to lose clients to a younger competitor. Her friend, Miriam, used to be a lawyer in Manhattan but is now a stay-at-home mom in Connecticut trying to find her way in the SAHM world. And then there is Karolina. Karolina is a friend of Miriam's who used to be a supermodel and is now married to a Senator that is dreaming of being President. Scandal erupts when Karolina is arrested for drunk driving with children in her car, and watches her life play out in the court of public opinion. Enter Emily and her image consultant background!

There is so much more to this book than my paltry little summary above can give you. Each girl has their own story to tell - not only with the relationships between each other, but also the relationships with their spouses, jobs, neighbors, etc. And when they get together the story is even better. There are twists and turns, hilarious parties, and even a brief cameo of Miranda (because what type of book would TDWP be without her?!)

I highly highly highly recommend this one to all Devil Wears Prada fans. I rate this one up there with the original. Can there be more sequels? This is a world I love returning to again and again!

Side note: Please don't let the length of time it took me to read this book deter you. I read this while having a difficult pregnancy. I was able to finish it after my baby was born while doing late night feedings! If I could, this would have been read all in one day.

Back after a handful of years, this story follows Emily Charlton on her post-Runway life. No longer a slave to Miranda Priestly, Emily has created her own perfect lifestyle, but cracks are starting to appear in the foundation of her life. Clients start dropping her and Emily wonders what she will do; she even considers selling her soul...again. This fun read follows Emily and her friends through a number of challenges. This was an enjoyable read that anyone who enjoyed The Devil Wears Prada will want to be sure to pick up!

Thank you to Simon & Schuster and Netgalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I loved, loved the Devil Wears Prada. I liked the followup. I enjoyed this one. Emily was my favorite character in Devil Wears Prada even though she is insufferable. She is snarky, quick witted, and blunt. In this installment, Emily is called in to do damage control for Karolina-- a Senator's wife arrested for a DUI she didn't actually commit. Along for this ride is a mutual friend of both ladies, Miriam.

This book is not high literature, but is fun, laugh out loud funny, and entertaining. I am happy to recommend this to anyone who was curious about Emily after her Miranda Priestley days!

I enjoyed this story until I felt Emily was no longer true to character. While she was still biting and sarcastic her discovery toward the end of the novel that she was pregnant was a bit unbelievable and seemed impossible for her not to have recognized earlier. I felt like it was a dumbing-down of her that was hard to reconcile with the Emily I “know.” This detail and the fact that she seemed like a strong women who was fulfilled without children but then realized once she was pregnant that she really wanted children all along kind of ruined the book for me.

This is my first book by Lauren Weisberger.. These housewives are over the top!! But it was a fun read and let's you see how the "other" side lives! LOL I really loved Emily's character. She was witty and had some great off the top statements to make. She didn't care who heard it - she just told it like it was!! I received this ARC from the publisher through NetGalley. All opinions expressed are my own.

4.5/5 stars! I was ecstatic to receive an advanced digital copy of this book- serious happy dance! So thank you to Netgalley and Simon & Schuster.

I’ve been reading a lot of mysteries lately so this was a refreshing little vacation. I didn’t read The Devil Wears Prada but I watched and loved the movie. This book was a spin-off and reintroduced the characters Emily and briefly Miranda. The book is split between the lives of three characters: Emily, Miriam, and Karolina. Emily is snarky and hilarious- I’m talking laugh out loud. Miriam is the one I most related too- mother in the suburbs trying to fit in with other moms and wondering what normal really is. Karolina is the ex-model whose life is turned upside down. All three women kind of lose themselves and find themselves again with the help of one another.

Great book. Definitely recommend it! I hope Lauren Weisberger does another one with these characters, especially Emily. I’d love to read what happens next with her and if she will eventually move to the ‘burbs despite being completely adamant that she would never ever move out of the city.

This was definitely a more modern, chic version of Devil Wears Prada and felt really relevant, fun, and witty. I loved seeing more of Emily and other characters. It was very well written, but what Lauren Weisberger book isn't? I highly recommend this as an amazing read and just in time for the summer!

Thank you to NetGalley for an advanced reader copy of this book in exchange for a honest review.

I very much enjoyed this novel. It’s light and fluffy and the perfect beach book. Although not a super serious book, it does touch on important themes and has an underlying theme of female empowerment. I really liked everything about this book- especially the celeb snark and the friendship between the 3 main characters.
