I really enjoyed the book. Loved the story plot and twists. Approachable characters, realistic situations. Some descriptions or story „fillers” were tiny bit too long, but in overall - very good book and I’d read more by the author. Thank you, great job!

I keep coming back to Lelic and each time I remember why I wasn't going to read another one of his books. I don't know what it is, they just don't grab me the way I hope they will. The story isn't bad, the writing is solid, but I cannot work out what's missing.

Unfortunately this book was not for me, it was a bit slower than I would like and it just didn't hold my attention. I am sure other people will love it!

Susanna Fenton has a secret. Fourteen years ago, she left her identity behind and started a new life. She became a counsellor, bought her own practice, a semi-detached home and did her best to stay clear of anything that could reveal the shame and trauma of her past. For Susanna, it was the only way she believed was the best way to keep her daughter safe and happy.

Then we meet Adam, strangely familiar, Susanna uses her her role as his therapist, she tries to uncover the reason for his visit. It’s then he tells her. There’s this girl he knows, and he wants to hurt her. The more he talks, the more Susanna realises the girl he wants to hurt is Susanna’s daughter Emily.

A twisting tale of will he fulfil his need to hurt or not!

'I had one of those, why did I wait so long to read this book?' moments after finishing The Liars Room.

The Liars room was an intense psychological thriller that had me on tenterhooks throughout.

Adam walks into Susanna's counselling room. She thinks it's just another routine appointment, but it quickly becomes apparent that Adam is a lot more troubled than she thinks. He knows things about her, things he shouldn't. What is she hiding?

Most of the novel plays out in Susanna's counselling room, which gave it an almost claustrophobic feel and added extra drama to the story.

Honestly, it's not a book full of jaw dropping twists and turns. In fact, it kind of played out like I thought it would, but what really keeps you invested is the characters. Both of the main characters, while not all that likeable but were realistic and extremely flawed, which really made this standout to me against other psychological thrillers I've read.

I can't say too much more because of spoilers, but there are some sensitive subjects that are dealt with in the book like assault and suicide, so if you find those things triggering, this might not be the book for you.

If you love character driven novels packed full of tension, then I'd highly recommend The Liars Room for you.

This is the first book I have read by this author and it definitely will not be the last. Really enjoyed how the story unfolded. Thank you Netgalley for giving me the opportunity to read this book

This book was so twisty and so character-driven it was an absolute blast!

When we first meet Susanna and Adam I did not imagine the journey we were going to take over the next few hours! I mean wowzers!! What a thrilling time!

I was a bit confuddled at first as to why Susanna was bearing her soul to Adam, I mean why would the therapist answer all his questions. Then things became clear. I tried to figure things out but even I got bamboozled on some things. Especially when Susanna would say something, something so innocently when she figured out who Adam was, well jaw drop moment! I was shocked! So many clangers and secrets, but just wow! The ending, well it could have gone one of two ways, I’m still not sure if it went the way I wanted or not. Don’t get me wrong it was probably the ending I was expecting but in a way, and probably more dark and sadistic, I may have wanted a different ending – read the book and you might get what I mean.

This was a very chilling tale, where most of the “action” takes place in one room. The hear and now and as the revelations begin to unfold, everything just intensified.

I just couldn’t stop listening to the audiobook, it was addictive. I blasted through this in two days and if I hadn’t had the school run to do, I would have finished this in one day. It was that damn good. It made my jaw drop, it made me feel cold, I was worried and I was shocked to my core. I just can’t stop thinking about this journey I have been on!! Something I won’t get over anytime soon.

I just have to say, I can NOT wait to see what Lelic does next! I will be pushing to the front to get it. Just seeing the books I have to catch up on makes me feel like a child in a sweet shop!!!

Susanna must be thinking at this point that this appointment is turning into an utter nightmare and fast. Adam is a new patient and he has lied and turned the tables on her fast. Can Susanna depend on her training to get her out of this?

A perfect, edge-of-your seat beginning with a intriguing story line that promises some bits and pieces from their past. Adam knows things about her that he shouldn't, but how? I wanted to learn how they were connected and began guessing (I was totally wrong), maybe you can figure it out!

We are stuck in Susanna's office for most of the book (with Adam) and it becomes very claustrophobic with a few intense, sizzling moments. Some dark secrets come to light as we ride it out with Susanna until the end.

I was glued to parts of the story, while some seemed to be a bit over the top. It was quite claustrophobic being in that doctors office for most of the book (I wanted out too), Overall.......an enticing read.

Fans of this genre and author should enjoy this dark story that was full of secrets.

I hope people are not put off seeing a councillor after reading this book. She did not make it easy for Adam to talk about his problem on their first meeting. I did not think it was engaging or gripping more frustration and 'just get on with it'. I could not continue with this book.

Unfortunately I just couldn't get into this book despite trying multiple times so in the interest in fairness will not be reviewing it on any platform. Thank you for the opportunity to read it.

An interesting and rewarding read. Enjoyed the flow of the story and the timeline. The chapters were a good length which helped to hold my interest.

Read April 19

To me a good thriller is signified by whether you remember it or not – especially as I have a bad memory – but while I can remember bits of the classics (Gone Girl, The Girl on the Train, Behind Her Eyes) I couldn’t remember this without GoodReads at all. The single room set-up was dull, I’m not sure if there was sufficient detail and the characters… Not memorable, lacking in depth. Villain was a caricature. It followed the basic thriller formula but without true feeling and belief.

I found this book to.be monotonous and unbelievable. Which was disappointing as I had high hopes for a Lelic book. Borderline DNF read.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC.

Good, not what you expect, gripping and challenging. Thought provoking, easy to read and different. All things I like in a book. When I thought maybe the book was taking a predictable turn it then did a u turn and went in a different direction. I like that the language and writing style wasn’t to challenging - I don’t, personally want to read anything to high brow for pleasure. Highly recommend.

This was quite an entertaining read. Imagine escaping from your old life, and then it seems as if your old life walked into your office. This made for a very thrilling read, and I will read some more of this talented author in future.

I DNF'd this.

It was unconvincing, unrealistic, monotonous, and so obsessed with flashbacks of the past that there was hardly any true narrative timeline. Not the best thing I’ve read this year.
