Katie is a recent law school graduate with her future planned out. It includes courtroom victories and making a change in the world. It does not have room for a tattooed martial artist. You wouldn't think their paths would ever cross, that they aren't meant to, but you'd be wrong. They're perfect for each other and fate knows it.

Ryan works as a trainer at the local kickboxing gym when he meets Katie, who happens to be lurking outside, debating on attending the yoga class her friend and roommate invited her to. Ryan may look like the quintessential bad boy, but he's all heart and wants to share it with Katie.

As Ryan and Katie get to know one another, the differences between the two that should make a relationship difficult aren't really an issue. In fact, it makes them even more interested in the other, and wanting to explore what they could have together.

These two take the time to get to know one another, making the foundation on which they build that much stronger. However, can their lives really mesh and make both of them happy? What will their friends and family think? Is a HEA possible?

One-click now and follow along as two people meet and realize they were meant to be together.

I’ve not read anything by this author before but I really liked the sound of the story from the blurb and I’m glad I got the chance to read this book as I absolutely enjoyed every minute of reading this book. The characters are what make this book such a fantastic book to read and it was a pleasure to read too. From the get go they pulled me into their story and they held it the whole way through the story. I liked how they got together and how they interacted with each other and with other characters throughout the story. Has a great storyline and there is plenty of romance all the whole through the story and I will be looking up other books by this author in the future. I would also recommend this book to everyone

The book started off rather meh for me. I didn't connect with Katie and found her a bit naive and compulsive in her need to meet her mother's expectations. I enjoy reading about strong female characters and she just wasn't one. However, I'm glad I pulled through the first several chapters, because the book did improve and Katie became a more likeable and empowered character. Her relationship with Ryan was a little drawn-out in the beginning and the tension between the two dipped in several chapters, but their story had a satisfying enough ending for me.

Overall, the book was a bit of the cliched "uptight-sophisticated-girl-meets-bad-boy" vibe, but nevertheless it was still interesting and different enough to keep me reading. The relationship between Katie and Ryan was allowed to slowly build with no trace of insta-love, so that's always bonus points in my book. I give the book a solid 3/5 rating, with detractions for character likability, repetitive genre, and predictability.

Katie is at an all time low she decides to do something different. Her decision takes her into the path of her complete opposite, Ryan. Sexy, not a lawyer but a kickboxing instructor. She decides to sign up for lessons that get her closer to him. Her life will never be the same again but will it be better or worse?

First off, I loved Katie so much!! She was the cutest, most relate-able characters that I’ve read in a long time. I love that she would blush bright red whenever she was embarrassed because that’s exactly what I do. Trying to talk to a cute guy? Not gonna happen! Her and I were also similar in the fact that we are people pleasers. We want everyone around us to be happy and would do anything to make that happen for them. Sometimes in doing that, we forget ourselves. We forget that we are important too and that we need to put ourselves first once in awhile. Basically Katie and I were two peas in a pod. Seeing her grow into herself and figuring out who she wanted to be made for a truly touching story.

Let’s talk about Ryan…..could I swoon any harder for this guy?? Whew! He definitely made it onto my book boyfriend list. I loved how supportive and encouraging Ryan was. Plus the way he had a passion for helping others….gah, It was awesome to see.

I also loved the little details to this story. The relationship Katie had with her father and gran, plus the relationship Ryan had with his niece and family members, were just so beautiful to read. I’m glad this book had a nice family aspect to it in some parts.

Overall, you should pick this up. It’s a story of encouragement and coming into your own. It shows you that there’s a time for everything. People progress at different stages and that’s okay. We all have a story to tell and a path that leads us.

This book chronicled the slow (and I mean slow) burn relationship between Katie and Ryan, told completely from Katie’s POV. I am personally not a fan of slow-burn, however, Stacy Wise did a phenomenal job slowly bringing these characters together, despite their differences (and, in Katie’s case, insecurities). I had a hard time connecting with Katie but found Ryan to be the foil that she needed.

The novel moved quite slowly and was very descriptive. The story was slow-paced but the writing and the plot itself were quite on point. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the ultimate conclusion for these two characters and would definitely read another book by Ms. Wise.

3.5 Stars
I enjoyed this one. I did like Ryan and Katie. There were some parts that me laughing. Katie is trying to do what is expected of her instead of following her heart. She has it tough with her new job, but she may just gain some insight for her path in life. The only thing I wish this book had was Ryan's point of view. I did miss that while reading this one. One of my favorite scenes is the one with Ryan and his niece. It's total swoon worthy material.

This book has cursing (including a dozen or so f-bombs) but no on-page sex. If cursing will cause you to leave a bad review, please use your own judgment before reading this book.

New adult isn't my preferred genre, but I really liked the story that this book told. Ryan and Katie were both really likable characters and I found myself rooting for them from the start. Katie was a bit of a hot mess and a doormat at times, but seeing her figuring it out and picking herself up off of the mat was really rewarding. Ryan was such a great character. I loved the depth that he had and the way that he cared for everyone around him. The only “complaint” I have about this book is that I wish it had been dual point of view so that we got to see more of Ryan outside of the gym. But that really is just a minor thing. The side characters were also really well-written. Both of their friends were great, and her boss made me want to hiss bad words at my Kindle as I read - which is the sign of a well-written jerk.

Ms. Wise has a real talent for writing a story that is both funny and realistic, and I look forward to reading more from her in the future.

I requested and was granted a copy of this book via NetGalley - I wrote this review because I liked the book and for no other reason.

Such a wonderful story. One of those slow burn kind of stories that keeps the reader intrigued. Can't wait to read another story by this author.

If I had to sum up this novel in one word, I'd go with: ordinary.
This is by no means a bad story. It just isn't a gripping, on-the-edge-of-your-seat one, either.
In Maybe Someone Like You, we follow freshly-dumped, newly-graduated lawyer Katie who, in the spur of the moment, decides to try out kickboxing - and veeeerrry slowly falls in love with her instructor Ryan.
The story is well paced; Katie looks for a job, finds one, has a crush on Ryan, has a very predictable date with someone else that ends in Ryan (who of course is right around the corner) 'saving her', and so on and so forth. I'd describe it as a slow-burn romance if it wasn't for the fact that I couldn't really connect to either Ryan or Katie, much less feel myself wanting them to be together. There was absolutely no tension, no will-they-or-won't they that kept me turning the pages, because I knew they were going to be together. I missed the anticipation, the chemistry between the two. And as much as we learned about Ryan and Katie, it all felt very calculated to drive them towards each other.
What I did like about this book was the depiction of Katie's job at a law firm (and her coworker Craig). It was refreshing to see her deal with a moronic boss, and decide whether the pay and job security is actually worth 'selling your soul for'.
If you're looking for a slow-burn romance (emphasis on the slow) and a quick read, this might be for you.

Law school grad, Katie Capwell stumbles out of a bad relationship and into a crush on Ryan Brincatt. Ryan is nothing like her usual type of guy...he dons multiple tattoos and has an unconventional job as a personal trainer. None of that stops her growing attraction. Katie struggles with insecurities with work and relationships but ultimately finds sure footing in both areas. I found Katie to be a bit too passive agressive and Ryan too nonchalant about their relationship at times.

This is a sweet, innocent romance that’s built on friendship. Perfect for those who prefer quiet gestures versus erotic acrobatics. Makes a good summer/beach read.

Maybe Someone Like You is a sweet story about coming into ones self. Insecurities plague Katie's mind after he boyfriend went from Prince potential to total toad. Always trying to please Mom isn't exactly a confidence booster either. Losing her first Job before it starts...Yeah, Katie is wallowing in self pity. Until she meets him.

Ryan is the total opposite of anything Katie has ever found attractive. He's a big tattooed guy. He looks rough around the edges and like her could crush her. But it seerms the only thing getting crushed is her heart...

Miscommunication. Or lack of communication seems to be the comedy of errors that sets Katie up for more than a gym membership. It sets her up to fall. And fall she did.

This sweet story was a cute read. Not to spoil anyone's fun but gets more intense in feels than I thought it would. Katie's insecurities can take a toll on the reader and make you feel her self deprecating thoughts. But just wait, you will feel better! I promise. Katie gets her act together and well...It is a beautiful thing.

This is the first time in reading this author. The cover is cute and the characters capture your attention. Katie and Ryan are the center of this one. This author is also taking a leap with this one and doing like back in the day with this being heavy on the romance with not alot of fire. That made this a bit refreshing since I am a long time reader and remember what is out now was not out there when I was younger. The characters have enough on their own to catch you and keep you cpativated with their story. It has many elements that make it full and delightful to read. They both have interesting jobs that added to them. Being different certainly is in this authors favor for die hard romance fans will eat this one up.

I want to preface this with if you're looking for hot, crazy sex, you're not gonna get it. And if that's all you're looking for, that's unfortunate because you'll miss out on a really great book. I've got two words for you...SLOW BURN. They are my favorite when it comes to books. The tension between Ryan and Katie is unbearable. Even though this whole book is completely in Katie's POV, you can just tell by the fantastic writing that Ryan burns for her. This book was really a breath of fresh air for me. It felt real and genuine. Like I stepped into someone's life at a pivotal moment and had the great fortune of getting to watch it all play out. Katie's thoughts made sense and they could have been my thoughts or my friend's. The range of emotions she goes through trying to read if Ryan is into her was all too familiar because we've all been there at some point. I loved the chemistry between Katie and Ryan and the fact that they really spent time getting to know each other without the complication of sex between them. I wasn't sure what I was expecting when I decided to give this book a go, but it was better than I could have imagined. I'm definitely looking forward to more from this author.

4⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

If you are looking for a slow burn this is the book you are looking for. This was the first book I have read by Stacy Wise and it was differently a good one. She does an amazing job building the sexual tension between Katie and Ryan. And just when you think they might be getting somewhere she will change it up and have you wondering if/when they will get together. I also love how Katie finds herself during the book, she doesn’t give up and when she is challenged she uses it to her advantage and ends up finding what she was really working towards. Definitely a book that needs to be on your TBR list.

I adored this story and it called to me in an unexpected way. Katie decides to start kickboxing with a trainer, and I fell completely in love with it. The author makes it sound both elegant and fierce. I liked the idea so much that I researched local kickboxing gyms--I start next week! I hope it's as exhilarating as Stacy Wise made it sound.

I'm curious if the author has personal experience with kickboxing, or if they just did really amazing research. I could hear the ropes pounding on the floor, and Katie's gloves hitting their target. I devoured those parts of the story, and now I'm mentally addicted to the idea of doing it myself. Let's hope I enjoy it as much in practice as I do in theory.

Maybe Someone Like You is another one of those stories where a little more communication would have saved everyone a lot of heartache, but I enjoyed their journey. It was refreshing to read about things like lawyering and kickboxing, because I've had no experience with either. There were a few phrases and some terminology I was unfamiliar with, so I had to stop and do a little research. Maybe a little more clarification within the story would have helped? Having to stop and look things up did pull me away from the book.

The setting for the book was ideal, too. It was lovely and makes me want to live in a quiet, quaint town near the beach. Even though I abhor having sand on everything, Stacy Wise made me fall in love with the idea. Running along the beach with my dog, the views at night, and the smells that are associated with sand and the ocean.

Katie is far more patient that I would have been. Kenneth was such an ass. I wanted to spit in his face and knee him in the balls. He deserves worse than that, but those two things would make me feel a little better. She put up with way more than she should have, and she should have confided in someone other than Craig. Speaking of Craig, I really liked him by the end of the book, but his initial impression was wrong. I thought he was going to be an adversary, but it's like a monster apologizing and becoming a kitten. It didn't make a lot of sense how their friendship happened, especially with how their first conversation went.

The other characters within the book were nice. I felt like I knew them on the most basic level, and I wish there had been a little more depth to them. For the most part, they sounded like interesting characters, and I wish those friendships had been built upon a little more. Instead, the book mainly focuses on the boys and her job.

The character development was a little weird, and I was never too sure of someone's importance to the story. Like, they may have seemed super involved in the beginning, but then we just stop hearing about them. Others, like her mom, were prickly one minute and kind the next. I don't know how to explain it exactly, but it felt off. However, Ryan was like banana pancakes in the morning: unexpected but utterly delicious.

Maybe Someone Like You was delightful and made me smile often. It also inspired me to try kickboxing (should be an awesome and enjoyable workout), and maybe get a new tattoo...

Maybe Someone Like You by Stacy Wise a new to me author that I look forward to reading more books by. I enjoyed this new adult storyline. It had likable characters, great character development and dialogue. If you like to read New Adult stories and a story that pulls you in from the first page this book is for you.

When Katie Capwell decided to sign up kickboxing lessons, she never imagined her life would change for the better, especially since she and Ryan Brincatt are from totally different worlds. However, the more he teaches her, the more she finds herself falling for him. Will Katie and Ryan achieve their happy ever after or will the fact that they're too different keep them apart?

The first thing I noticed about this book was the cover. It looks like this story will be lots of fun and I've got to say that Ms. Wise delivers plenty of that in this book. The way this story started drew me in immediately, but it was from the moment the hero and heroine meet that had me fully invested in this story, as it's palpable they're from two totally different worlds in where she's just completed her law degree and he's a tattooed martial artist that didn't have the easiest of times in school.

As for the dialogue, it was entertaining due to the main characters back stories, the journey these two take on their way to happy ever after; and the blossoming relationship that had me hoping they'd finally realize they want each other, even though there's a good reason why the hero doesn't acted on his feelings. Moreover, the heroine is resilient, courageous and I liked the decisions she makes throughout this story to do with her career because she finally realizes what type of law she wants to pursue. I also liked the tight bond she has with her friends and that her best friend was looking out for her when it came to relationships. Is meeting Ryan fate, especially with his connection to her friends? While the hero, he's confident, hard-working and I liked how far he's come in his life. I also liked how encouraging he was when it came to instructing Katie, although she's fearless and determined to prove she has what it takes to learn the moves to the best of her ability. Yet, what I liked most of all about the hero is the tight bond he shares with his niece. Really, they're so cute together.

Overall, Ms. Wise has delivered a really good read in this book where the chemistry between this couple was strong; the romance cute; and the ending had me loving how these two find their way back to each other after such a rollercoaster of will-they-or-won't-they become a couple. However, it was the epilogue that wrapped this story up nicely because these two are so good together. I would recommend Maybe Someone Like You by Stacy Wise, if you enjoy the mysterious strangers trope, the friends to lovers trope, or books by authors Beth Anne Miller, Robin Bielman, RS Grey and Erin Fletcher.
