The story of the Duke of Rathborne and his ward, Marlene Fast, was lighthearted fun, but not captivating. I thought Marlena's friends and relatives were a bit much. I liked the Duke and Marlena, but found her angst a little over the top. I received an ARC from Netgalley for my honest opinion. 3_1/2 stars

I liked the idea of the story line, but the story seemed to drag a bit for me. Marlena's cousin was annoying with her constantly demanding everything from the duke. Asking to take over Rath's chambers....wouldn't be allowed at all! Eugenia constantly fainting was a bit tiring to read also. Why would you think you've been found out for your misdeeds every time you see someone? And yes, Rath being Constantly called a Rake throughout the book got tedious. Yes, he's a rake, we get it. I did like Rath's friends and Lady Vera. Hopefully she gets her own story soon. Thank you NetGalley for the advance copy!

I really enjoyed this book. I thought the war of the duke and marlana was very funny. People thought I was crazy chuckling to myself. A lot of funny quirky characters. I had wished I would have read the first two first so I could enjoy the three men's stories from the beginning. Thank so much for the read

Amelia Grey has delivered a stand alone in her Rakes of St. James trilogy. I say this having enjoyed this title but not having read the others. The sin of the past that ties all 3 books together was easy to discern as snippets of backstory were provided. A fun read with well developed characters and a an enjoyable plot!

The conclusion of the Rakes of St. James, is fantastic. Rath has no idea what's in store for him when he agreed to take Marlena as a ward. Marlene is quite surprised also when she found out.

Really liked this story and this couple. He’s a rake who , many years ago, with their two fellow dukes, played a prank on several young ladies of the ton, which resulted in repercussions for the girls, but none for the men. She’s a young lady, now his ward, who secretly writes a scandal sheet. They are mutually attracted, though both resist the attraction, and the relationship develops slowly and sweetly. She fears exposure, and also, after meeting several people effected by her gossip, feels some regret for her writing. The characters are all lovely, the story is interesting and has a great HEA. I received a free arc in exchange for an honest review.

I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley to read in exchange for a fair review. It’s All About The Duke is the final book in Amelia Grey’s The Rakes of St James series. I enjoyed the previous books in this series and recommend reading them in order although you could read this as a stand alone as everything you need to know is explained. Miss Marlena Fast has been writing a scandal sheet and a book under a nom de plume in order to help support her friends who are in difficult circumstances and also because she feels that The Rakes of St James did not have to bear the consequences of the scandal they created. When she finds out that the Duke of Rathburne one of the rakes she as been writing about is now her guardian it’s unsettling to say the least. Rath’s guilty conscience caused him to agree to become the guardian of Miss Fast but now that he’s met her he’s pretty sure it’s going to be difficult to give up his rakish ways and become a gentleman she needs him to be. This is a lovely romance and I enjoyed reading it very much. Mildly Steamy. Publishing Date May 29, 2018 #ItsAllAboutTheDuke #NetGalley

Something was niggling at me when I downloaded It’s All About the Duke. It wasn’t until I got into chapter three and the hero and heroine still hadn’t finished the conversation they began at the start of the book that I remembered: Amelia Grey’s writing style just doesn’t work for me.
I actually enjoyed the opening, even though it includes a trope I dislike: the heroine who secretly writes scandal sheets. I liked the characters, enjoyed the dialogue…
However, the conversation just kept going. The first scene of the book takes three chapters and 16% of the text. It’s FAR too long to hold a reader’s interest.
I read the first book in this Rakes of St James series last year, and had a similar reaction. The conversation that opened that book also went for three whole chapters. The pace was far too slow, and with each conversation taking up such a huge chunk of the book, there wasn’t any time left for character or plot development.
I admit: I didn’t finish this one. Scenes that would have been witty and fun if they’d been edited just made my mind wander. I simply couldn’t find the motivation to devote any more hours to the book.
This is Regency (? - I didn’t see a date) romance for people who enjoy writers who use a lot of dialogue, and for readers who like a book that moves at a slower pace. Unfortunately, I don’t have the patience for it.

It's All About the Duke begins slowly, revealing that Rath, Duke of Rathburne, consumate rake, has agreed to take on a ward. Miss Marlena Fast, secret gossip columnist, enjoys gardening and spending time with her friends while plotting revenge on rakes that like to send secret admirer letters. Marlena's character as a whole is not bad, the story just seems to drag for the first two-thirds of the book. Of course, the rake and the ward fall in love and the whole gossip columnist twist causes problems in a predictable way. The story is pleasant, not exciting or depressing, just pleasant. The story picks up at the end and leaves you with a satisfying HEA. Overall, I found the story okay and will continue reading books by this author. My voluntary, unbiased review is based upon a review copy from Netgalley.

I liked this book very much & enjoyed reading it ..

It's All About the Duke is 3rd book in the series (The Rakes of St. James) but it can be read as a standalone & i was much relieved as ve not read d previous 2 books in dis series. I liked the story ... it was well written & plot well developed . its a heart touching regency romance ..The characters of Rath & Marlena just r very lovable .

The Duke of Rathburne, “Rath”,is a Rake has agreed to become guardian & to fund Miss Marlena Fast a season while in a state of being indisposed. He remembers Marlena as being a tomboyish imp. Instead he finds an enchanting young lady whom he finds himself totally entralled with. How dis people fall in love is d story . there story is thoroughly entertaining , the secondary characters, humour all enjoyable

There was humour ,beautiful romance ,sizzling chemistry & the best was strong female personalities as pertained to the Regency Era as women in that period didnt ve any say or were independent to opinions, living or actions... the dictates of society were very strict & harsh for women ... so Amelia strong, capable ,bold women characters were a refreshing change .

only drawback i would point out was it was a bit lengthy , the thoughts processes of d characters was very descriptive so sometimes d link while reading was getting cut ... otherwise a well written, i
liked Amelia's stylr of writing simple & classy . i would definitely recommend dis book ...its worth reading ...i would defintely like to read d previous 2 books in dis series also ...A very good job done Amelia ..

I usually love Amelia Grey stories but had a hard time relating to the characters in this book. Marlena has a cousin who married someone who makes her miserable. Veronica married him because of a long ago scandal with a prank pulled by a set of Dukes. Marlena gets her revenge by writing about the dukes in a scandal sheet plus she gets needed money for her cousins. Rath is one of the dukes and is trying to atone for the prank. He agrees to take Marlena as his ward and wants to do good things and reform. Marlena and Rath are attracted right away and a romance develops. I have an issue with Marlena developing feelings for the Duke but keeps writing the scandal sheet. She lacks remorse as early as she should and is not that likeable. She is bratty. Veronica is selfish and odd. You can understand her unhappiness but pushing her sister to be in a relationship with someone she did not love was a question for me early on. Rath is too tame and benign. He didn't seem to care that Marlene was doing what she did. I look forward to other books by Amelia.

I received a free copy from netgalley for an honest review. It's all about the Duke is the third book in the series by Amelia Grey. This book was only okay for me I felt like the book and the plot was really slow and it dragged out longer than I needed to. I feel like this but could have been wrapped up a lot faster.

This is Rath and Marlena’s story. He has become her guardian. She writes about him being a rake under an assumed name. He is giving her a season. They are very attracted to each other. There are many secrets. True love conquers all. I loved it

This review will appear in issue 1 of Romantic Intentions Quarterly, out April 3.
___________

After a disappointing second outing, this final book of the Rakes of St. James trilogy is a return to form, giving us a heroine in debutante Miss Marlena Fast – the names of these women are disconcerting: we had Esmerelda, then Loretta, and now Marlena; someone has been reading a little too much Barbara Cartland – and hero in her guardian, the imposing Duke of Rathburne. Marlena is amusingly irascible, Rath needs some redeeming, there are scandalous rumors, a secret writing career subplot that is always fun, and all ends very satisfactorily, with little to trouble us along the way. (Well, except maybe for “Marlena.”) An easy, pleasant, if occasionally over-written, read.

I love Regency romances and I loved this book. IT’S ALL ABOUT THE DUKE is the story of a young rake, the Duck of Rathburne, who finds himself the guardian of a young woman of good birth but poor circumstances. When they meet the attraction between the two is almost instantaneous. It is, of course, out of the question that a nobleman should be attracted to his ward. And therein lies the conflict. The book is well written and well edited. It is a charming story and a great read for those of us who enjoy Regencies. I love the character of Marlena Fast who finds herself in a bind because of the scandal sheet she has written for three years which castigates her guardian for his rakish ways. The book is a merry read with the obligatory HEA.

At 15% the book was taking far too long to get moving. The hero seemed obnoxious and while I liked the heroine (and the secret she had to cover), the plot didn't seem to have enough to keep me reading. DNF.
