I picked this one up on NetGalley when I was in the mood for something different. I didn't realize it was a part of a series, let alone book 9 in that series. I had no clue till I went to mark on Goodreads that I was reading it. That being said, I haven't read any of The Original Sinners series so take that into account when reading my review.

I do enjoy Tiffany's books. Some are very hot and heavy on the erotica, and some are very story driven. This is kinda both but more erotica. I liked the story behind The Chateau and that was probably my favorite part of the book.

The characters were also an enjoyable part of the book. Kingsley took a bit to get invested in but I really liked Madame.

I'm not sure if this was enough to push me to read the previous books but I did like this book. Everyone of Tiffany's books is an experience and I'm looking forward to her next one.

5 “God Bless America” Stars

What in the world did I just read? Tiffany Reisz sure does spin a web in her storytelling. One that you must read thoroughly or you miss little tidbits that change the whole story.

Sitting down and devouring this story, I figured out that Catherine was one person that you wouldn’t want on you bad side. She is a puzzle maker, cutting each piece to perfection, allowing each piece to fit together perfectly.

Kingsley is at the Chateau for work. He is going to locate a young man who has just up and left his family. He’s joined this ‘cult’ that no one has been able to crack and get into. Leave it up to the exceptionally trained Kingsley to get past Catherine’s test and into the Chateau.

Read this story carefully, work the pieces of the puzzle before trying to make the picture beautiful. There is a proper way that the pieces fit and once you’ve put them together, what a story the picture tells!!!

Absolutely loved The Chateau! Sometimes I find myself whispering this too…
”It’s all right… It was just a dream.

‘I love you. I still love you. I hate you. I still hate you. I want you. I’ll always want you. I only left you so you’d come and find me. Come and find me. Find me and come.’

Another brilliant instalment in the world of Tiffany Reisz’s Original Sinners series. We travel back to when Kingsley is a mere twenty four year old Lieutenant in France. He is a rogue under orders. A man running from the one who owns his heart, sent on an undercover investigation and retrieval mission. Where better to try and disappear yet find yourself than inside the house of a sex cult who celebrate the Story of O?! With Søren very much playing on the mind and in the heart of our beloved Frenchman we learn of a time when introspection and soul searching takes the lead through the manipulations of the illustrious Madame.

‘Use me. Hurt me. Destroy me because you’re the one who created me. Kill me because you’re my only reason for living. Find me because I’m lost without you.’

The elusive Madame drew out the vulnerable side of our cocky lovable Frenchman who has a penchant for sarcastic humour and erotic thrills. I really felt the breath of Søren on the back of my neck as I was reading. His presence felt in the shadows of every word written. The invader of dreams and fantasies. Kingsley goes on a journey -which clearly- as we now know left a permanent imprint on his life thereafter. Thrilling, kinky, erotic and emotional. A story of a strong women and a man who’s somewhat lost.

“He broke me. In so many ways, he broke me. He broke me until I was happy I was so broken. The more pieces of me there were, the more pieces of me there were for him to break into even smaller pieces. By the time he was done with me I was nothing but shards. If I’d spent another day with him, I would have been the dust on the bottom of his shoe.”

I swear I say this every time I review, but this series, these characters- they truly are my heart. I immerse myself so fully I convince myself I’m part of the story. An active character in the shape of a voyeur and eager participant. I can’t get enough, I will never have enough. I will inhale every single instalment Tiffany Reisz releases. Every book a brilliantly written piece of a wonderful and epic puzzle which has me falling in love all over again.

“He tied you up to tell you he never wanted you to leave him. He bit you because you were the food to his soul. He struck you to mark you as his possession.”

***I received an ebook copy from the author at no cost***

I could write a whole book about why I love Kingsley Boissonneault. He's easily one of my top five favorite characters ever written by any author. The Chateau is all about him, and Reisz did us good.

King is young in this book, a mere 24-years-old. He's cocky, loves to have as many women as he can, and continues to nurse memories from the boy who owned him years earlier. When he's sent on a mission to investigate a sex cult he gets more than he bargains for, and ends up on a personal journey of all things erotic and BDSM in the meantime.

The idea of the chateau itself both intrigued and excited me. A castle full of men who are subservient to women. The castle itself is based off The Story of O (which I now feel like I must read). Madame is intelligent and captivating, and knows when and how to wield her power. I quite enjoyed her character, and am hoping that we might get another glimpse of her in future books.

I loved seeing Kingsley before he became the well-known man he is in present-day times of the series. His journey in this book, at the chateau, was instrumental in helping shape him into the man he becomes. His relationship with Madame reminded me of his with Søren in some aspects, but Madame has her own way of interacting with subs and slaves. Kingsley discovered himself in ways that he hadn't before. I'm not going to give out spoilers, but I can confidently say that any fan of Kingsley will love where Reisz takes him in this book. (And seeing him all vulnerable, as a submissive ... Unf. So amazing.)

Kingsley and Søren's relationship is referenced a few times throughout the book. King still aches for his former lover. Some of his time in the chateau is reminiscent of the time he spent with Søren. Søren appears in King's dreams pretty frequently, which broke my heart a bit and gave me butterflies.

When it comes to erotica, especially of the BDSM variety, Reisz is my go-to author. Her imagination knows no bounds. Every word of The Chateau was deliciously sinful, and the different scenes were smart, sexy, and hot. Reisz's writing is, as always, captivating and vivid. With The Chateau, she's crafted a tale full of surprises and, through which she plays beautiful games with words and left me stunned and craving more. The characters are amazing, the plot is gold, and everything moved along at a perfect pace. I couldn't put the book down once I got started.

This book can be read as a standalone, although I would recommend reading the whole series because the characters are INCREDIBLE.

If you're looking for a suspenseful and intriguing BDSM story, The Chateau is one story you won't want to miss.

Kingsley gets a permanent spot at the top of every book boyfriend list imaginable. And The Chateau gets the Wordaholic Must Read seal of approval.

Five stars to this novel!

I love TiffanyReisz books so I knew that this one would be no different and it wasn't. It's fun and kinky and sexy without turning into the bad porn that we see so much of. It's definitely entertaining and it becomes something you don't expect. Can't wait for her next book. So this pick up and enjoy it as much as I did. Happy reading!

When you are a Lieutenant for the French Military, assignments can vary from day to day. For Kingsley – the latest assignment entrusted to him is to infiltrate a secret sex club. A mission that is both intriguing and just the kind of thing that required the finesse that only Kingsley could give. What Kingsley finds when attempting to complete his assignment will lead him down a path that only the Sinners could experience.

Finding the Chateau via Madame, Kingsley quickly learns that men do not dominate in piece of paradise. Women reign supreme and are willing to show Kingsley how much fun it can actually be. The only person Kingsley had ever ‘served’ was Soren. Life at the Chateau certainly changed how Soren felt and reacted to exploring submission. Games were found throughout the Chateau, but one thing remained the same, Kingsley’s devotion to Soren.

Don’t you get excited when you realize Tiffany Reisz is giving you another glimpse inside the lives of your favorite Sinners? The Chateau is a bit different from the other books in the Sinners series. In this novel, we follow a young Kingsley through the trials of pleasure, remnants of pain, and a good helping of uncovering the strength within his soul. A fine testament to the depths of which Kingsley’s devotion for Soren comes to light.

One of the interesting parts of this story is the introduction of Madame. A colorful and intriguing woman that certainly knows all about Kingsley and his past. Madame has lived her own torment, and her interest and sexual prowess is certainly peaked when Kingsley is introduced to life at the Chateau. As readers have come to expect, Reisz’s ability to write the most interesting BDSM books is once again front and center in this story. The eroticism a bit more unique that past Sinner tales, but interesting non the less. The Chateau is a great addition that fills you in on the missing years of Kingsley’s life that you definitely do NOT want to miss!!

While Kingsley Théophile Boissonneault sleeps alone in Paris, he dreams about endless winter, about wolves and about a boy dressed in white.

He’s tried desperately to exorcise the memory of the one he can’t have by signing up for every dangerous mission that he could. Until he is ordered to save a young boy who is being held captive at a mysterious Chateau. And it might turn out to be the most perilous assignment of all.

“Then why did you come here?”
“My own reasons.”
“You wish to serve, do you?”
Kingsley whispered, “Yes.”
She said nothing. The blade remained flush against his neck, cool and sharp.
“You betray your mission easily,” she said. “Why is that?”
“Because fuck my mission. Leon is nineteen. And I don’t want to lie to you.”
“And why is that?”
“For my job I have to lie to everyone. I’d like to tell the truth to someone before I forget how.”

Inside the Chateau, a woman known simply as Madame offers to give Kingsley the life that he always longed for. A life filled with intoxicating pleasure and pain. A life where his passion would never go unrequited and one where he would finally know what is was like to be called a father.

But Kingsley must choose between his heart’s desire and the owner of his soul. And he knows that whatever choice he makes, he will never be the same again.

“Where are you, you monster?” Kingsley breathed, shuddering with need as he wandered down the hall. “You should be here. This is where your kind belongs. And mine.” For they were the same, he and his monster. And truly, who was the more depraved—the boy sadist or the grown man who would have knelt to him on this fetid floor? Even now Kingsley was hard, his breaths shallow, his cock aching. Seven years ago, he’d whispered to his master, “There is nothing you could do to me I wouldn’t want…” And in this cold dark dungeon corridor, Kingsley knew those words were still true. More true than ever. Indeed, the only truth he knew. If his monster were only here now…

“I want you,” Kingsley whispered. “I still want you with every cell in my body.”

With The Chateau, Tiffany not only delivers an erotically charged thriller but also a heartbreaking love story with an emotional punch that will bring you to your knees.

She reveals a side of Kingsley that we’ve never seen before. This is the man that longs for someone to love him with the same ferocity as he loves. And the side of him that desperately yearns for children of his very own.

It’s scandalous, poetic, poignant and life affirming in a way that only The Original Sinners can be. And it’s why our hunger for more from these iconic characters will never ever be satisfied…

Lieutenant Kingsley Boissonneault works for the secretive French military intelligence agency as an undercover spy and assassin. And by undercover, he literally is under covers quite a bit. When his next unusual assignment has him investigating a sex cult, Kingsley is finally tested with a mission that he’s not quite sure he wants to complete.

“The kiss isn’t kind, isn’t erotic, isn’t sensual, isn’t sweet. It’s punitive. It hurts. Kingsley loves how much it hurts. His mouth is invaded, taken over, conquered. Violated.”

I had no idea until opening this book how much I missed Kingsley! He has always been my favorite character and that snarky Frenchman just jumped right off the page and grabbed me! (I didn’t resist). This story gave some insight of one of Kingsley’s adventures while in the French Foreign Legion. Only Kingsley would be given a mission involving a sex cult with female Dommes…nothing he does really surprises me. But this story was just fun because we got to see some of Kingley’s playful side but also how much he missed Soren when they were apart. It really made me want to go back and read the Original Sinners series to feel the beginning of their relationship all over again. I love the idea of standalone Original Sinner books and I hope we get more of our favorite kinky characters. I feel like they must have missed me as much as I missed them since they marked my heart.

I swear with the different types of books that Tiffany has been writing lately she could write a science text book and I’d devour it. I love the way her mind works and can’t wait to see what she has for me next…please don’t be a science text book.

The Chateau was a wonderful reminder of why I fell in love with Tiffany Reisz’s writing. Not only does she make kink sexy, she also makes it funny and smart and painfully real – pun intended. For me, she is also Mistress of the Mindfuck and Kingsley’s tale of sexual discovery definitely delivers in all the best ways.

Okay sure, his mission to “investigate” a “sex cult” sounds like the makings of a bad porno, but I can assure you The Chateau is far from that. It’s an erotic thriller in which our French hero gets to play James Bond and spread his baby kinkster wings while surrounded by… pussy… galore. Yes I went there.

Those familiar with Kingsley Edge of Original Sinners fame will not at all be surprised that Kingsley Boissonneault makes a fantastic hero even in his twenties – smart, sexy and deadly. His ennui leaves him no room to escape the memories tormenting him, so he is more than happy to dash off into the unknown to investigate the enigmatic and beautiful Madame.

Thus begins Kingsley’s journey of self-discovery. Or in his case, a rediscovery. Since joining the French Legion, he had reverted to his skirt-chasing ways and abstained from kink. But at the feet of Madame and her brand of tough love (spoiler alert: that’s an understatement), he learns to accept all the facets that make up his true nature. She was as much mother figure as she was personal tormentor, and her lessons left a lasting impression on young Kingsley.

To be honest, I never really connected with Madame, but I’m not really sure I was meant to. To borrow a reference from the book, the story had a decidedly Alice Through the Looking Glass feel to it and possessed a surreal, dreamlike quality. The plot was twisted and cruel – something I’ve come to expect from Reisz – but what held my attention was young Kingsley and his overwhelming charm, bravado and yes, innocence. My absolute favorite part was the sharp repartee between the characters (another Reisz signature) – funny, cutting, and often both. I was thoroughly amused by the early exchange between King and his blundering colleague, but seriously, a smitten Kingsley had me flat-out weeping with laughter.

Make no mistake though, despite some warm and cuddly moments, The Chateau is more Anne Rice erotic fantasy than Disney fairy tale. Reisz fans will adore this glimpse into young Kingsley’s life but I also believe the book is successful as a standalone. Either way, you can’t go wrong with a little Kingsley in your life. Or a lot of Kingsley, for that matter.

ARC from the Netgalley

3.5 stars

only person he’s ever loved.

The Chateau is book 9 in Tiffany Reisz’s Original Sinners series, and it’s a story that readers are going to love. It delves into fan-favorite Kingsley’s past, and interestingly enough, I think this book could stand on its own. If you’ve read the series up to now, I do think it will mean a bit more to you – because who doesn’t love Kingsley longing for Søren? But if you’re new to Tiffany Reisz and this series, I think you could start here, get a taste for her writing, and see that this series, whenever she decides to pick it up, is in full swing. And fans flock to every offering of Kingsley, Nora, Søren and everyone else the author’s given us throughout this series!

I’ve always been curious about Kingsley’s time in the French Foreign Legion, so I was excited to hear about this story. And while I do wish there had been more to that, I still enjoyed The Chateau. I was surprised (but then again not) about how blasé he was during this time in his life. It was typical Kingsley, but I thought if ever there was a time Kingsley was going to be serious, it would during his time in the military. I always love Kingsley, but this book really highlighted my favorite Kingsley – the masochist. There is something about this man when he’s not in control that is so damn sexy. I think because, in present day books, he radiates power and strength. I love when it’s stripped away.I did love the premise of this series, because putting a challenge in front of Kings is always a good time. I loved everything about how he got to the chateau, and once there, there was, as always, a lot of hot sex. It’s mind boggling to me how this author can take even casual sex and make it so meaningful. But I will say, about 60% into this story, it slowed down for me. Luckily it picked back up at the end, and when Madame enters Kingsley’s life once more, it’s clear he will never be the same.

I really enjoyed this glimpse into Kingsley’s past, and what seemed to an event that left quite an impression on him. The Chateau was very layered and there were some twists that I didn’t see coming. If you’re a fan of The Original Sinners series, you’re going to want to pick this latest installment up!

A sexy BDSM read in a whole other level mix in with thriller and this book definitely become one of my favorites from Tiffany Reisz and definitely a MUST-READ.
This book is about our Lieutenant Kingsley investigating a sex cult, oh yeah, the King and a sex cult and with powerful Madame teasing him to the other side, oh yesssss this sure has story that keeps you turning page after page, you can't stop reading it wondering what will happen next.
The twists and the turns, the hotness and the steaminess and all the banter and the joke, even something that makes me cringe described so beautifully.
Love everything from the first chapter.

As for characters, well is The King, so what's not to like, right?!?! And in this book we can see the other side of King, and it makes me love him more.
And Madame, well you really need to experience her firsthand. She's definitely an interesting character.

If you love sexy beautiful read with twists and turns, this book is a MUST for you.

✦ Erotic thriller that fucks with your head and has plenty of kink. NOT a romance

✦ As with this entire series, I can only describe it as “it’s complicated but I fucking love it.”

✦ I think this line from an interview with Tiffany sums up the book nicely: "The pitch was, “Kingsley goes on an erotic adventure inside a femme-domme cult.” The story pretty much wrote itself. It’s James Bond with blow jobs, BDSM, and an angst-ridden bisexual hero still in love with his ex-boyfriend"

There are some books that you love even if the kink inside is not your kink. And that's definitely the case with this book/series. I don't want to be in the characters' shoes 99.99% of the time, yet Tiffany has a way with the world and characters and just her voice in general that makes me adore every moment I spend in the book, regardless of being a bit out of my element while doing so.

Simone gets her story told in November and I cannot fucking wait!

5 Looking Glass Stars

Lets start this review with some honesty since Madame likes to flay me and take my secrets.
I am starting this book series on #9… I thought I would be compeltly lost.. but oddly I am not lost. And it was soooo tasty!!!

This story is about Kingsley who is a French American spy/murderer for hire ish. And his assignment is to infiltrate the chateau and rescue a man being held captive. Kinsley doesn’t even hear the rest of the assignment before he agrees to be willingly thrown into the cult. As Kingsley channels the story of O he knows without a doubt he will infliltrate the commune and learn everything about them. And he will give himself over to the pleasure and the pain.
“You see, it’s not what I can do to you. It’s what you’ll allow me to do to you. If your willingness to suffer is infinite, then my capacity to hurt you is bottomless.”

I like that this book shows the differnet levels of BDSM. And really shows that it’s a game of consent. The book is a game of tests and lies and secrets. Also the sex scenes are not traditional and yet somehow they are arousing beyond belief.
The book ends and then I realized

I am a huge fan of this series, I'm not going to lie. I absolutely love the characters and Kingsley is no different. I loved going back to a younger Kingsley and seeing a different side to the man I thought I knew and loved. An outstanding read and I would recommend it without a second thought.

3'5 stars, actually
A kind and funny reading with one the main characters of the Original Sinners world created by Tiffany Reisz.
I must admit that Kingsley is not my favourite character but this book is like him, witty, funny, hot and a bit touching. It must be read after The Queen and the rest of novellas situated in this world because it's narrated from the present, although the main story is one adventures (and a very important one) lived by a young Kingsley.
Everything Tiffany Reisz writes is very sexy, kinky and a bit of emotional and this book is no exception. I think all the Original Sinners fans are going to like it. There's a little mistery, a lot of things that became part of the Kingsley we know... and a lot of Soren's presence.
----------------
My review in Spanish:
3'5 estrellitas.

I love the Original Sinner's World and I will take any chance I can get to read about these characters. The Chateau was another amazing insight into one of our favorites, Kingsley.

I LOVED getting to know this side of Kingsley during his secret agent military years. I feel like I got so much insight into his character and how he was molded as a young adult. The storyline was intriguing and captured me quickly. Ms. Reisz does romantic suspense so well.

This book, like the others, is not for the faint of heart. It's not dark, but there are elements of suspense and BDSM. If that's your thing, pick this up!

Wellllll this sucks.

There are a plethora of 5 star reviews for this, so grain of salt. I actually physically feel pained that I didn't LOVE a book wherein King is the focus but I didn't.

I was sort of squinting at it since I'm fairly certain King has said before that he's only ever submitted to Søren and Nora but since I like sub King I went forth with gusto, shirking my doubts like a bad habit. Except it's not really that kinky. There is a pegging scene and the final scene is heavy with #TeamPain goodness but it was nowhere near as kinky as I'd anticipated. That coupled with the fact that I felt zero connection between Madame and King made The Chateau a lackluster read.

We travel back to 1989 Paris where King is in la Légion. He's tasked to infiltrate a "sex cult" eerily akin to what's described in Story of O only men serve the women. The colonel's nephew has purportedly been brainwashed into said sex cult and is in dire need of extraction. Kingsley to the rescue!!!!!

If you're laughing you should be because the notion of sending Kingsley into a sex cult to do anything other than fuck the legs off everyone in there is preposterous. This is King we're talking about here. You can seat him at a buffet and tell him not to feast.

Feast he does only... it didn't do much for me. I didn't find any of it all that titillating. Usually with a Reisz read I feel emotion in her words. I didn't here. The snarky and biting dialogue that I've come to think of synonymous with Reisz' writes were absent as well.

I think I'll always love and hate the bittersweetness of Søren and King's relationship but this is ground that's been trod over and over again and I think for me the more it's trod the less powerful it becomes.

So, as much as it pains me to do so I'm going with 2 stars. My opinions are my own and YMMV.

The story I've been waiting for and didn't even know it! I did not read the blurb; all I did was see Ms. Reisz name so I picked this book up for a read. I am so glad I did. This is story is hard to review because I am still reeling from the aftereffects. I am boneless as my senses are overwhelmed and my emotions on overload. This is a story focused on Kingsley. I have always adored this Frenchman switch. Whilst this could be read as a standalone, reading the Original Sinner series would help explain why this story is so cruelly beautiful.

The Kingsley we know from the Original Sinner series is a mature man with great wealth, extensive spy network and erotic mastery. In The Chateau, it is when he is young, twenty four to be exact. This is his years whilst he worked for a covert French spy agency. Seeing this Kingsley makes me emotional because he is in such torment. He wrestles with his demons of wanting someone he does not think really wants him - sadistic Soren. For a book which Soren does not appear until the end, he is a constant monster in the shadow, just waiting to leap in a moment of Kingsley's weakness.

When it comes to complicated relationship and sadistic mind games, Ms. Reisz excels at writing them. This cathartic journey she forces Kingsley to make is brutal. As an unofficial assignment, Kingsley needs to retrieve a wayward nephew of his boss, from the clutches of an evil woman running a sex cult. This woman apparently lures high powered men into her web and they disappear for weeks. IF and when they return to their families, they are in a dazed stupor. Kingsley sees no reason to take this job until he learns the Chateau is run by Madame who is a Domme. Kingsley's need to serve again is so strong, he can not resist her siren call. Like Alice in the Looking Glass, he falls down the rabbit hole and ends up in a world where everything is different and yet, better.

What I loved most about this story is the psychological depths Ms. Reisz plunges her characters through. She hits all the senses whilst seducing the reader's mind. My mind is actively engaged and whilst her erotic scenes arouses, it also pains me as I witness and vicariously live through Kingsley's pain. What he finds at the Chateau is a long overdue answer he's needed validated by an outside observer. When his epiphany occurs, it shatters him completely. I'm moved beyond tears. Not just because of Kingsley's loss. But because I too have achieved an understanding I couldn't fully grasp as a switch. Madame translates the physical love language Soren spoke to Kingsley that he misinterpreted. She can do so because she is a master sadist who understands another dominant. This perspective is insightful and makes Kingsley's anguish magnify. Just when Madame thinks she has converted another discipline, she realizes Kingsley's devotion and worship of Soren is unparalleled. And it is a hard choice. Madame's "wonderland" is fantastic. Still, bypassing the slight chance of being with Soren is unfathomable.

The ending confrontation occurred as I anticipated because I had an inkling early on about Madame's unspoken husband. That relationship is dysfunctional in an Ayn Rand "The Fountainhead" way. Remember, every story has two sides and sometimes there are only losers. If Ms. Reisz ever wrote a story about Madame and her husband, it may be one I need to pass up. I am not sure I can handle the sheer cruelty and devastating mind games. I find my tolerance to bittersweet to bitter endings to be high, but Ms. Reisz dances just on that edge where I am not able to cope. This erotica tale is highly recommended to kinky readers who want to experience love's torment.

This is the second OS book that I've read - the other being The Siren, which I actually liked - but this one was my least favorite of all the books I've read by Ms. Reisz.

I loved getting the insight and history of a character I've briefly met in The Siren - Kingsley - but it didn't really give off a thriller vibe/feel. At least, not to me.

Was it hot and erotic? Yes. Kingsley does have to go undercover and join a sex cult, after all. But thriller? No.

I liked Kingsley but I disliked Madame. Ms. Reisz stated that Madame - a sadist - makes Nora look like a Disney princess - who's also a sadist. Well, then give me Nora, any day, because I liked her and would gladly read more Original Sinners books, just to read about her.

Did it spoil anything for me, having only read the first book? No. Do I recommend this one to the OS fans? Sure. As I said, great insight into an important character from the OS series. But, unfortunately, it's not my favorite TR book and that's okay, I can live with that. I did like the twist, wasn't expecting that, so kudos for that one!

P.S. I still don't know how I feel about Soren.

I voluntarily agreed to read an early copy of this book via Netgalley and my rating is 3 stars.

Kingsley is right up my snarky, sarcastic alley. He is 24 years old, part of a secret French military branch, and still in love with his Ex. He gets assigned to the Chateau is order to find the Colonel's nephew Leon and to find out any other information he can about this supposed "sex cult" he has unwillingly been forced into...let the fun ensue from there.
