Izzy Gizmo has been a hit with our elementary students and middle school students. Being at a STEM school, this book has been awesome to use to talk about the process of inventing and being creative.

This is a great book! I would definitely purchase this for the beginning of the year when I am teaching about growth mindset. It is a fun rhyming book about a girl who doesn't give up.

This is a fun story. If you like Iggy Peck, Ada Twist, and Rosie Revere, then you need to add this book to your shelf. Izzy likes to tinker, but like any kid she gets frustrated when the things she invents do not work out as planned. But she is going to have to keep trying to make sure her new friend Raven can fly once again.

What a fun book! I am always looking for books for my niece (she's six) with strong, girl protagonists from all races and backgrounds who have a can-do attitude, and this one definitely fits that bill. Izzy is a smart girl with a big heart, but when her gadgets don't quite work, she's more apt to give up rather than improve them. All of this changes, however, when she meets a bird who has lost the ability to fly. Determined to construct him working wings, Izzy builds several prototypes, and when each goes slightly wrong, she doesn't give up, even when she wants to. There's even a small lesson about dealing with the consequences of one's impetuous actions, which ties her antics together nicely.

I'd definitely recommend this for a read-along with the small humans in your live. Also, the art is dope. Two thumbs up.

Izzy Gizmo is an unshakable young female character that never , ever gives up. She has 'exploring and inventing' embedded her very DNA. She loves to take things apart, tinker with random objects, imagine, dream and create cool gadgets like the Tea-Mendous and the Swirly-Spagsonic, just to name a few.

She lives with her Grandpa who delights in her experiments and is a huge fan of her ever-probing mind. It"s a mind-set to design something super spectacular. Unfortunately, sometimes those inventions don't work out like Izzy plans and she becomes cross and wants to shelf her project and walk away. Her Grandpa always senses her frustration and encourages her to try and try again assuring her that she can do it.

One day a crow drops out of the clouds and takes a tumble right in front or her. She scoops him up and discovers his wing is broken, poor, poor thing. Eureka!!! She realizes that this is a perfect opportunity for a brand new invention. Can you guess what she might be thinking of creating?

Yep, she decides to make an artificial wing for her crow enabling him to get airborne and happy one more time. Can she do it? Is it even doable? With plenty of perserverance and empathy Izzy conquers that challenge and becomes a superhero in the eyes of both her Grandpa and her beloved crow!! She is a genius extraordinaire!!

This book is written in rhyme and the illustrations are stupendous. They are quirky, filled full of action, emotion and lots of fun detail. This empowering book is perfect for girls of all ages. The publisher generously provided me with a copy of this book via Netgalley for an honest review.

Izzy is a young inventor whose inventions don't always work. When they break, chaos and messes often occur. She decides that she has had enough and puts her toolbag away. When she finds a crow that has hurt itself after falling, the vet tells her it will never fly again. She tries to teach the crow how to live and have fun without flying, but he is extremely unhappy. Along comes grandpa. He is kind and encourages her to come up with something to help the crow fly. Even though her inventions don't work, grandpa and the crow keep encouraging her to try again. She finally comes up with the perfect wings for her friend.

This book is about empowering girls to participate in inventions and technology as well as perseverance and not giving up. It is also great to see her parental guide encouraging her and not getting upset when she makes a mess. Throughout the story, Izzy "borrows" items from others for her inventions and at the end of the story, her grandfather makes her fix what she broke when taking pieces of items. This is great for developing the concept of responsibility for your actions. This story is told in verse, and is great for building rhyming skills and making predictions with young children. It has a nice cadence and is fun to read. The illustrations are detailed, and the inventions shown are wonderful and could initiate discussions while looking at them. This is a great book for family, school, classroom and public libraries. A good book for late primary and early junior students.

This is such a great book! It would have been a great addition to our summer reading program last year (building was the theme), but I could see this being used in classrooms and library storytimes. Then having children invent something to help an animal, just like Izzy. The illustrations were so colorful and fun! It also has such a great lesson for children.

This was such a cute book. It reminded me or a Dr. Seuss book with its rhyming and inventive words. I also enjoyed the message and illustrations in this story. Definitely would recommend.

This is a really a story of not giving up. Oh, yes, it is also about a little girl that likes to invent things, but keeps failing at her inventions, and so she abandons them for the next thing.

Until she finds a wounded crow, and she tries to invent new wings for him. She keeps wanting to give up, the the crow and her dad encourage her to try again, until, she ha the crow flying again.

Fun, bright pictures. I love that the girl has problems not because she is a girl, but because what she is doing is hard.

I'm hoping this will be a hit around little girls that like to invent things. :)

Cute illustrations. Nice message about not giving up. Story could flow a little better but kids will like it.
