I only read one other book in this series and ended up not liking it - in fact I stopped reading it less than half way through. But, this book more than made up for that one! Lennon has been through hell in every way possible. You're going to want the box of tissues when he finally starts talking about his past. I say finally because you don't get that story until the last part of the book. Until then you know he had a crappy childhood before finally ending up in a group home. You know that the crappy childhood made him who he is today - a man who doesn't think he can be loved, who doesn't think he deserves to be loved and who keeps waiting for everyone to leave around him. And then you find out his story. Holy crap! What a story it is. In addition to dealing with the crappy childhood he was dealt, he faces a tragic accident which threatens to end his career and quite possibly his life. His recovery is so much harder because of his crappy childhood because he's so focused on everyone leaving him that he doesn't realize the help he'll need. And then you have Georgia who is exactly what Lennon needs even if they couldn't be more different. She finds a way to break through the walls he built up so many years ago. She has her own struggles, ones that Lennon vows to help her work through while she helps him work through his own mountain of issues. Absolutely love this story; the main characters are well developed as are the secondary characters who make frequent appearances. |
Lenon Reborn by Scarlett Cole was an amazing read. Lennon is the drummer for Preload, and everything he loves seems to slip through his fingers in the blink of an eye. He’s at a loss, and it’s made worse by the fact that he was already hanging on by a thread. That’s how Dr. Georgia Starr found him, as a broken man who doesn’t know what he’s going to do. This was a story of redemption and how you can crawl your way up from the bottom. It was emotional and beautiful and I loved watching the way they were able build something different than what they had before. This book will make you ugly cry, and I loved every minute of it. It was a fitting end to a great series. |
I have been enjoying this series. Lennon seemed to be VERY stuck in his past, more so than many, to the point of repetitiveness at times. Georgia had a very complicated relationship with her parents and career, and watching the two of them figure out how to relate to each other and be in a relationship was very raw and real. |
Lennon reborn I was given ARC copy by net galley and St. Martin's Press in exchange of my honest review. Lennon McCartney, Preloads very talented drummer is ready to give up after terrible accident that changes his life. Lennon wakes up in the hospital with a life changing feeling worthless and depressed. Dr. Georgia Starr a brilliant Pediatric Neurosurgeon tries to save Lennon life after the accident that almost took his life. With problems in her own life of not measuring up to her fathers' standard. Now Georgia must save Lennon and herself, but can they survive and be happy. |
Lennon McCartney had his whole life focused on his work, he was the drummer of Preload band. Despite loving what he did, Lennon felt like a phony. He had secrets that his band brothers could not even suspect. This caused panic attacks before he entered the stage. But once the show started, he felt in his own private paradise. But after spending so many months on tour, the boys were now going to take a sabbatical, enjoy their families, girlfriends/fiancees, while Lennon had no one in his life. When their tour bus drove home, they were victims of an accident that could be fatal when a truck destroyed the side of the bus. At that moment, they were rescued by a doctor who drove by. Lennon was seriously injured and would give up living, but Dr. Georgia Starr would not let him give up so easily... Georgia came from a family of famous doctors. But despite being very competent at what she does, and having had a few days before the difficult surgery to separate Siamese twins, within the family, especially to her father, she was still seen as a beginner. Dr. William Starr did not accept that his youngest daughter was succeeding on her own merit and making difficult medical decisions without asking his opinion. When she sees the crashed bus, her medical side immediately kicks in. She checks for the wounded, especially among the children, but it is a man with a wounded arm who seems to want to give up the life that catches her attention. From that point on, two people with such different lives, with distinct opportunities, intersect and discover that they have the possibility of healing the wounds of one another. But even though their love is great, Georgia's life was in NY, while Lennon's was in Toronto. How do they reconcile so many feelings, pains, and second chances, so far apart? 4 stars |
The end of a perfect series, this story of Lennon finding his way and finding love was intense and bitter sweet. I loved every moment, I cried, I laughed, I got upset and fell in love. Amazing Scarlett, is there nothing you can’t do. |

Break out the tissues and embrace all that is Lennon Reborn. Good grief what did Scarlett Cole do to us in this book? Lennon is the drummer for Preload and already has his own battles he's fighting, seeing himself as broken and somehow less than. Georgia is a top notch renown Pediatric neurosurgeon who is fantastic at what she does, that is if you ask anyone but her jack hat of a father. He made me want to step on his neck. Yes he's that bad. Driving home from a long day she witnesses a bus collision and rushes to give aid and there she meets Lennon who is seriously injured in the accident. If you can make it past the first three chapters without using a tissue, I applaud you. The rest of the story is about two people who find their way through all the clutter in life bringing each other along. It's romantic, the depth of these characters is profound and at times took my breath away in those small moments. It's a love story at it's finest. Perfectly written and it's an absolute must read. **I read this book twice, once upon release and the second time for a late release arc from NetGalley and SMP** The above is my honest review. |
I loved, loved, loved this book. It was as full of heartbreak as I was expecting. But I was not emotionally prepared for it. Not at all. I cried my poor little heart out while reading this story. Lennon is so broken and when he finds Dr Georgia Starr, you know it is going to be a rough road. Watching them bump down the relationship road was pure magic. |

Sorry! I think my review is late - I just wanted to tell you that once again, Ms Cole has written an angsty, broken man that is sure to make you fall in love. Usually the "I'm too broken to know how to love" thing is trite and overdone, but she's nailed it. Lennon IS capable of love, he just needed to be shown how. It was lovely to see them dance around each other, with their ups and downs, really trying to make it work. There was a realness to their relationship that made it not only believable but achievable, if that makes any sense. We read romance for escapism and hope - Ms Cole brings us both here. Loved it. I'm sad to see Preload come to a conclusion, but will keep my eyes peeled for whatever she writes next!! |

Wasn't sure what to expect with this one. On the one hand, there is sexy drummer Lennon, and the other there is straight laced doctor Georgia. After a horrible bus accident, which left him without his left arm, and the connection he makes with Georgia who saved his life, the process of each helping the other slowly progresses. I enjoyed seeing the two of them help each other, and help the other grow. Both had a lot of issues, which although different still needed work. Expected a quick read and got so much more with this one. Highly recommend this book and author. |
This is a touching story which feels real enough to believe in "Everything Happens for a Reason." Lennon is the drummer of Preload, a famous band. His horrendous upbringing resulted in growing up in group homes where he met the other band members. They are his only family. Georgia comes from a proficient family of Neurosurgeons and strives to keep the family legacy. Despite being extremely proficient, she is under constant pressure from her father who doesn't have any respect for her famous abilities. Georgia witnesses a serious bus collision where the band members and their families are passengers. Her professionalism takes over, and she hastily goes to offer assistance. Lennon is in a terrible state and she tends to him until the medics arrive. Something that he says has an effect on her and she feels an instant connection. Lennon wakes up in a strange environment and completely disorientated. Once he realises where he is, and the extent of his condition, he goes to pieces. He has battled with low self esteem for all of is life and doesn't believe that he is worthy. He is a wreck, physically, mentally and emotionally. Georgia takes the chance of paying him a visit and despite his abrupt reaction, she engages with him. This leads to a friendship which slowly turns into something more. After everything that he has been through, Lennon doesn't believe that he is capable of love. Georgia excels at her job and even though, she has a family, she might as well be on her own. In some ways, they are both tortured souls and understand each other. As the story develops, they support and encourage one another to cope with their situations. Can Lennon learn to love and accept being loved in return? This story is heartbreaking and palpable. The connection and the unconditional love between Lennon and Georgia are profound. The band members are loving and lovable and their support is just as invaluable. It's heartwrencing, but leads to a heartwarming conclusion. It's beautifully portrayed. I was kindly issued with an eARC and the views expressed are my personal opinion. |
A dear friend of mine has been bragging about Scarlett Cole's books for quite a while now, and soon my best friend started to follow her example by highly praising her to me as well. So when both of them read this book, they made sure I HAD to give Cole a chance. Note to self: always listen to those who know your cup of tea. "Lennon Reborn" is the fourth book in a contemporary romance series, but it's no issue for the reader to get into the story—or every character—without having read the previous instalments. If anything else, it just makes you want to pick the other books to hold on to all da feels a bit longer, no matter that you already know the outcome. This book starts with probably the most I-did-not-see-it-coming impactful event that left me hanging for a few moments before turning to the next chapter. It wasn't easy, but I needed to. The whole story is emotionally involving because of some dark and difficult subjects, a tragedy you can't shake off—no wonder it affected Lennon the way it did—and lousy relatives you'd better cross off your life. But can Lennon find the strength to let emotions hit him, and Georgia find the courage to stand up for herself? Scarlett Cole wrote a really touching story and beautifully portrayed a broken character who is impossible not to want to love, comfort, and give him all he wants—even if he will never ask. If you haven't heard of this series before, I'd recommend you to check it out! |

Kristie J’s review of Lennon Reborn (Preload, Book 4) by Scarlett Cole Contemporary Romance published by Swerve 1 May 18 And now we come, sadly, to the final book of this amazing series about the heavy metal band Preload. They started with The Purest Hook, which was actually part of a different series, and then carried on as their own series with Jordan Reclaimed. I am SO going to miss these guys, though I can go back and ‘see’ them again in rereads, but it won’t be quite the same. Lennon McCartney – yep, he knows – is the youngest band member and the jerk of the group. Throughout the series, he’s been the one to say stupid and crass things and he hasn’t fully engaged with the other four. But despite this, the others still consider him their brother and the drummer, a very vital part of the group. But every so often in previous books, Ms. Cole would drop just the smallest of hints that who we were seeing wasn’t the real Lennon, so anticipation for his story has been building. By now he’s the only one who hasn’t found a love interest and it’s not long into the story when we find out why. Lennon had such a sad and traumatic childhood that he doesn’t understand the concept of love, and, as a result of being completely ignored by this young teenage mother, he is unable to really connect with anyone, which explains why he isn’t as close to his ‘brothers.’ He also constantly expects them to reject him, so he self-sabotages himself. He’s always been more of a loner, but with all his band members finding the love of their lives, he’s even more isolated and envy has crept in. And his mind never gives him a rest. It’s constantly racing, telling he’s no good, everyone will leave him and he’ll be all alone. It’s heartbreaking reading his inner dialogue thoughts. The only thing that really gives him any real happiness is his drumming. This is where his head’s at when his whole life is turned upside down. The band is involved in a bus crash and Lennon is hurt in a life-altering way. Dr. Georgia Starr is a legendary neurosurgeon who happens to see the crash and she jumps into action trying to save the victims. When it’s Lennon’s turn, he pleads with her to just let him go. But from the moment she touches him, there is an almost electric current between them and Georgia knows she will do whatever it takes to heal Lennon of his demons. Georgia has her own battles to deal with. She’s the only girl in her misogynistic family, and despite her incredible talent as a doctor, her father and brothers are constantly judging and belittling her, even though she’s the best neurosurgeon in the family. Added to that is the fact her father and brothers resent her since her beloved grandfather left the apartment building she lives in to her and no one else. So both of these people are struggling. I don’t think I have enough words to say how much I enjoyed this book and, indeed, this whole series. The reader can feel the pain Lennon went through in his childhood and how it’s affected his entire life. Even the good things are tainted with his self-doubt and low self-esteem. Although it takes him a while to let Georgia know the particulars, she still sees he is in a great deal of pain and tries to help and reassure Lennon that she is there for him. Lennon, in turn, wants to show Georgia that there is more to life than just work. While he is really impressed with her talents as a doctor, he wants to see her life more balanced. They are really the exact person the other needs and both need the other. They are simply wonderful. This isn’t meant as a criticism, as much as a wish though. The other books in the series take place in Toronto, a city I know, while not that well, still well enough to know many of the locations the author mentions. Lennon Reborn, however, takes place mainly in NYC. This is the city Georgia works in and close to the accident. Lennon has had to stay behind to recuperate and sent the rest of his ‘brothers’ home to Toronto and their families, even though he does need them. This is just another example of his tendency for self-sabotage. But Georgia keeps him holding on. It was real nice to almost have ties to the setting. I also wish there were a few more scenes between the band members, Dred, Jordan, Elliot, Nic, and Lennon. The bond between these five is one of the real gems of this series. But, again, there aren’t as many as Lennon is off by himself for the majority of this book. The third wish is some kind of feedback on their music. As the members find love, their pain is directed into heavy metal and as they each find happiness, some of them want to change the tenor of their music. It would have been nice to have an epilogue to the epilogue to see how the Preload change of direction fared. But other than those wishes, this book is simply a wonderful read about overcoming hardship and tragedy. Jordan Reclaimed is my favourite book of all of them, but this one is a very close second, and the whole Preload series gets huge kudos and recommendations from me. As I said at the beginning, I’m really going to miss these guys. |
4 1/2 stars. What an emotional ride! Lennon was so broken, emotionally and physically, that I had tissues near me the entire read. The accident made Lennon face some hidden truths, and with the help of Georgia, he realizes that he already is who he longed to be. He also helps Georgia realizes that you can choose who you call family, and he provides he with the one she deserved. I loved that the age difference was a non-issue. And I loved the shout out to Nora Roberts and Born in Fire! |

Lennon was in a band called Preload and Lennon was the drummer. They were at the Wells Fargo Center in Philly. Lennon had paralyzing stage fright and couldn’t tell his brothers . He laid flat on his back before every performance. Lennon let the his brothers who were the other band members believe he was an insomniac. Drumming was Lennon’s life , the only thing in his life. Rolling Stone named Lennon was one of the greatest drummers of all time making him the youngest drummer on the list- no pressure there. - right. Lennon had lived in a lot of foster homes and had been up for adoption once but that fell through and once again he was returned to the group home. That was the reason why the men around him were the only family he had known since he was thirteen years old. But Lennon feared they would slip away from him too. Jordan was the bassist , Elliot the guitarist, Dred was their lead singer and frontman and Nat was master of the seven string. After the last the last show in N Y tomorrow The band was taking the rest of the year off to do other things. Seven months of no Preload . Georgia was a doctor and just woke up from a power nap ina room set aside for the doctors to sleep when they could. Georgia had worked with thirty other people to separate twin girls connected at the brain- Hope and Faith. So far so good. There had been three previous surgeries for the twins to be prepared to be seperated. Georgia was leaving the hospital to go to her brother- Ezra’s birthday party - but told her friend Eve who was the head of the ICU the twins were in that she knew how to get a hold of Georgia if she needed to. Listening to jazz was how Georgia calmed down and she also thought of her grandfather who had loved her unconditionally and cheered her every success unlike her father. Georgia was dreading this party. Georgia’s father was the current president of the America Associates of Neurological Surgeons. After years of effort and determination to excel her father's expectations of her but she still hadn’t been successful. William Starr fought a complex internal battle of living vicariously through Georgia’s success and hating her because she was better than him. All William cared about was his reputation and legacy . That he got his share of the credit for her work. Georgia had been on this path since her sixth birthday , when her grandfather had bought her a model of a three part skull and coordinating eight-part brain that fit perfectly in its cranial cavity. It now set in her office where she used it to help explain what their surgeries would entail. Her grandfather had always been the one to encourage and support Georgia At thirty six Georgia was already recognized as one of the country’s leading pediatric neurosurgeon. Lennon was on the tour bus with his black notebook before him. Lennon had documented his life in notebooks since one had been put in his thirteen year old hands. He now had one hundred and forty nine filled notebooks stored in an old trunk and this notebook would join the others when it was full. His brothers had grown up with Lennon in the group home They were his brothers in every way that mattered and the only real family Lennon had ever known. They humored him, dealt with him and tolerated him. But Lennon was still waiting for when they would decide to shut the band down. The sabbatical was the first sign of that. New York was the final night of a world tour that had started with Europe and Canada the year before and ended with three straight months in the U. S. . Lennon wished he could stop the never ending stream of thoughts that kept him awake and edgy and raw late at night and forced him out of bed early in the morning. Then Lennon saw a dump truck coming toward the bus and not stopping Lennon was thrown to the floor and couldn’t move. Then a woman, a doctor told him his work wasn’t done here and she wouldn’t let him go. Five days later Lennon woke up in agony and his arm had to be amputated from below the elbow. He remembered the doctor and hated her. Elliot was in the room with him but Lennon was losing it then a man in a white coat ordered a stronger sedative. All his band members were there for him . Lennon asked if everyone was okay then Lennon told his brothers to get out or he would call security. Then Jordan said they would leave but someone would be back. His brothers were filled with love, sadness, and helplessness and every other emotion Lennon wished he could express. Just before he woke up Lennon had dreamed of his four year old self and how his sister Jennifer had fallen getting him some candy when he was starving and he begged her to get him something to eat when he was caged in his crib. Jennifer had died trying to help her brother and he was holding her hand as she died. Lennon sent all his brothers back to Toronto where they all lived but Georgia said she would be his friend and be there for him. Georgia even pulled some strings and he got a condo in the same building where she lived. There was something about Lennon and Lennon knew there was something about Georgia. I loved this story. It broke my heart to hear the horror of Lennon’s younger years. So glad he found his brothers in that group home as well as Maisey and Ellen who considered the boys their sons. I loved the relationship and interaction between Lennon and his brothers and they were indeed brothers in every way but blood. I loved Lennon and Georgia together. They were both broken in their own way. I was so glad when Georgia finally walked away from her family especially her father as he was no kind of dad to her. I loved how the author showed all Lennon went through and the man he was from his internal dialogue to his words. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this book and I highly recommend. |

An excellent conclusion to the series. The reader finds out about all the musicians and their significant others. It was such a cool and shocking event for Lennon's arm to be amputated. His emotions about the loss of his arm seem realistic and gut wrenching. The reasons for his issues are understandable. I liked how Lennon supported Georgia with her family issues. I did think there could have been a little more about their relationship instead of so much sex. |
I would like to thank Netgalley and St. Martin’s Press/ Swerve for allowing me to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review. Well now I need to read the other books in this series. I’m new to this author and this series so starting it on the last book of the series seems crazy. Luckily, it can be read as a standalone and I didn’t feel lost at all. I would like to see how the other band member’s stories came to be. I was drawn to this ARC for the whole Rock Star – Doctor aspect of the book. Something that is new to me. This was a pretty emotional story about Lennon who was abused by his mother and abandoned at a very young age. He grows up with his “brothers’ or other members of the band. Even through all the assurances Lennon does not feel wanted by his brothers. One accident takes away the use of his livelihood and only reason that he feels the band would want him. Georgia is a successful neurosurgeon and is basically married to her job. Even with all that success she is still made to feel like she is less than her neurosurgeon brothers and father. Once meeting Lennon there is no doubt they have a connection. This was a great story. Awesome romance. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone who likes the Rocker Romance books. |
This book has everything! All the feels! Lennon’s story is heartbreaking! When he meets Georgia, his Gia, his life is hanging in the balance and wants her to just let him go! Instead, she holds on tighter and saves his life, in more ways than one! Get ready to fall in love with the drummer! I know I did! 5 stars |

I love this series. I love this author. This book focuses on Lennon from preload. I had been looking forward to reading this story. Lennon seemed like he was a jerk always with a smart comment when really he pushed everyone away because he didnt want to be hurt. His back story is heartbreaking. I love how he was written how it goes in to his past why he is the way he is and how hes working to move forward. Its heartbreaking at times but such a good read. I loved it !! I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book for my honest review. |
I received a copy from NetGalley for review purposes :) This was my first Preload novel by Scarlett Cole and I don't think I missed anything starting at this point. This was such an amazing read for me! I love a good rockstar romance and Scarlett gives you her all in this gripping story I loved Lennon and Georgia and just everything about this couple. Lennon, this man killed me in so many ways, I just wanted to hug and hold him. This story and the romance will have you swooning all over your e-reader pages! |
