This is a very twisty tale that at times left me needing to re-read parts. I also found it quite difficult to like the main character, so must admit I did struggle with it.

Wowsers. What a read. Truly captivating and enthralling. I didn’t want this one to end and when it did I was left jaw dropped!

This is a novel about Claire, a British actress trying to make it in New York and ends up working as a honey trap to make ends meet. She then gets drawn into a plot to try and trap a man who is suspected of killing his wife. This book sounded so good and I was really looking forward to reading it but I struggled to get in to it. I ended up buying the audio book and while it worked better for me as on audio I did find the whole plot was just too over the top for me. It was a fun enough read but it’s not a book that will stay with me. I think that maybe this author just isn’t for me as I know others have really enjoyed it.

I actually gasped OUT LOUD when this all came together at the end. Absolute GENIUS. Another fantastic read from this sensational author.

So twisty! It kept me guessing until the very last page and even then I was still like "What?".

Claire was a fascinating character, so intriguing and I enjoyed reading about her history. Patrick was interesting. I liked how you never knew what was true and what wasn't. I didn't really like the constant talk of the poems and what they might mean. I don't care what they mean just get on with the story.

Well written and engaging, I enjoyed this thriller very much. Read in one sitting as I couldn't wait to find out what happened.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this book.

This was a great read with an unusual plot. So many twists and turns and working out what was really happening was near impossible.

This is my first JP Delaney book and it was a little mixed on reflection. It kept you guessing to the end with lots of twists and turns - more than a labyrinth. In fact there were just too many twists, so many that I almost gave up trying to guess what the real story was and got a little disenchanted two thirds of the way through.
On- my admittedly very old - Kindle the scene/dialogue parts also didn't display properly and were unclear, which did surprise me for a bestselling author's book.
I can see why this has such a good average review rating as had I not got disenchanted with it I would have lapped this up. As it was, I was left wanting a little more (or to be more accurate - less!).
Thanks as ever for the preview copy.

A magnificent psycho thriller which had me guessing "who did it" from start to finish! The main character, Claire perfected her role both as an actor and as a stooge for the Police.

Two and a half star rating.
Claire Wright is an English actress living in New York and is desperate for a Green Card and will do pretty much anything to get one. Really enjoyed previous books by this author but this one is disappointing. Didn't like the theatrical aspects of it or the parts written as if it was a script. The story was confusing to say the least and it took me a long time to get into unlike earlier novels where I was instantly hooked. Claire wasn't likeable but selfish and I didn't feel much empathy with her character. The idea was intriguing which is what drew me to this book. No doubt this will appeal to other fans of this writer!

This book tells the story of an actress named Claire, who gets approached by the police. Claire earns some extra money by catching out unfaithful partners. She pretends to be interested in them and sees if they take the bait. The police approach Claire to form a relationship with Patrick. His wife was brutally killed and they are convinced that Patrick is responsible. Claire is bought into a game of cat and mouse. the lines of whats real and what isn't get slightly blurred. This book was certainly a page turner and had me hooked. I definitely wasn't expecting some of the twists. Very well written. Definitely recommend this book.

I enjoyed The Girl Before and thought it was a decent read so I was very disappointed by Believe Me.

I only made it a few minutes in on my kindle because I didn’t like the style of writing, it felt very much like a script rather than a novel.

I couldn’t bring myself to care about the characters enough to read anymore of this book.

Claire is an experienced honey trap whose acting skills are required by the police when one of her targets becomes the subject of a murder investigation. Claire isn’t even sure he did it and she feels like there is more to the case than meets the eye.

For me Believe Me sounded better than it was.

This book was brilliant and so full of surprises and twists.

Claire is a young actress from England now living in New York. She is attending acting school but always needs money to survive. She starts working for a law firms investigator. One assignment may be more than she can handle!

You won’t know what is real and what is fiction! It will keep you guessing right up until the end.

Thank you NetGalley and JP Delaney.

I liked the premise, and the setting in the acting and theatre world, and enjoyed the first half. However, it felt like it tried too hard to be clever and then didn't deliver. The 'twist' at the end didn't stack up when you thought through the second half of the book.

Unfortunately this book really just wasn't for me. I found the story to be far-fetched and I really disliked how conversations were written as acting scenes and I think it was a little too niche in its design and subject. The story had so many twists that I often found it tricky to keep track of what was going on. I saw it had lots of other great reviews though so it could just be a personal preference.

Claire is in New York trying to survive financially whilst studying an advanced acting course. To help make ends meet she takes on some evening work that involves "honey-trapping" men in locations set up by a private investigator thereby providing evidence for divorce lawyers. Her acting skills make her formidably effective in this role and all goes well until the wife of one of these men's wife is found dead. From here on the twists and turns are unceasing and after she meets Patrick "Everything is Lies" . Enjoy.

I was given a copy of this book by the publisher for an honest review. I have read The Girl Before by JP Delaney so was pleased to read this book.

The story is told by Clare an actress who is originally from England but now living in New York. She finds herself caught up in a murder investigation and the police ask her to use her acting skills to find the murderer.

This books has lots of twists, but as there are only a few characters it's easy to follow. This book will keep you guessing to the end.

This book would be breath for fans of psychological thrillers.

Wow, what a roller coaster this book was!

It is one of those novels that leads you one way, spins you around and leads you in completely different direction.

The subject matter was original, with detective agencies, murder, college lecturers, actors, S&M web sites and the FBI to mention just a few of the areas that the novels enters into.

It was fast paced and I have no intention of issuing a spoiler, but this is a really good page turner and I would highly recommend it if you love a good psychological thriller.

It was just a little short of 5 stars as I felt that some of the characterisation was a little thin in places, but really that won't spoil your enjoyment.

What a wonderfully twisty turny tale of deceit and murder!

This is one of those books where you can't say too much for fear of spoilers. Delaney weaves a skilful story with layer upon layer of unexpected events until you genuinely have no idea what's real and what's not.

Set aside an afternoon to devour this. You're going to need it.
