I left a 4 star rating when I read this book 4 years ago but didn't write a formal review. I am marking the rating here to move this book off my shelf.

Not at all what I expected. Much more of a romance than I anticipated. I guess I thought it would be more women’s fiction. But Trevor and Morgan had so much chemistry. Even though they aren’t in a ton of scenes together….therefore that just made me want more of the two of them together. That says a lot about the author’s writing. Now I will say that I wanted to love this book even more than I did. But I definitely want to try more out by this author.

Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this book. Unfortunately, this story wasn't for me and I wasn't able to finish. I look forward to future titles.

The story begins where the last book ended after Henry Harris’ family learns not only of his death in a Marine training accident but also that he has a 2-year old daughter he’d abandoned. His adopted brother, Trevor, takes on the mission to locate the child and her mother, Morgan Riley, and reach out to them. When he finds them, Trevor immediately connects with her and little Etta. Despite her typical wary nature, Morgan develops a bond and trust with him as they prepare for the family reunion.

I initially enjoyed how this story developed as Trevor and Morgan took tentative steps toward developing a friendship, building trust and the beginnings of a relationship. He had great instincts that she responded to almost immediately, both sort of aware of a slight attraction. I liked both of them and how Etta connected the two of them. What fell flat for me is Morgan’s reaction to the rest of Henry’s family, specifically Trevor and Henry’s mother, Ellie, and her behavior towards Morgan. The story spiraled in a direction that didn’t make sense nor felt true to either character. And, there were significant time gaps that really tested my sense of reality.

What began as a really good story settled into something less than. It transitioned to lots of details about mundane activities while briefly mentioning more important actions. It ended rather abruptly with a resolution that felt hollow. I really enjoyed the first two books and had high hopes for this one considering the storyline. The conflicts felt contrived when there were better directions the story could have taken. I’m hoping the next book recaptures the magic of this series.

Sarah – ☆☆☆☆
This series keeps getting better. Of all the brothers and cousins in this series, Trevor is the one who is consistently honourable and reliably good. He might not be as exciting as Shane or Bram but he is steady, reliable, and actually more complicated than he seems. I loved him.

All the books in this series address heavy themes of love and loss and family but this book is the one that actually tore at my emotions. This book focuses on the family’s response to Henry’s death. And the family’s reactions to the child Henry abandoned. It is a raw and gritty read and I almost enjoyed the cracks that appear in the foundation of this seemingly perfect family.

The storyline around Morgan’s sister took me by surprise but I really appreciate the way the author explored such a traumatic experience, especially when narrating parts of it through Trevor’s voice. The storyline doesn’t fit neatly with the rest of the book so I’m wondering if we will get another book which carries it on.

While this is a moving read, the angst and guilt surrounding the connection Morgan and Trevor makes the romance elements of this story difficult. And the small child at the heart of this story kinda ruins the heat factor. This isn’t a sexy book, but it is an emotional ride.

I was so looking forward to reading this book after the previous 2 in the series but it wasn’t exactly as I was expecting and it didn’t totally work for me. I wanted to love it but I just couldn’t get on board with the way these 2 were with each other. I expected of course some resistance to their feelings bc of the past connection but I expected this huge pull that they couldn’t deny or fight and I just didn’t FEEL that while reading.

I chose not to leave retailer reviews for this book.

Received in exchange for a honest review.

This book was wonderful. Heartbreaking, heartwarming, at times frustrating, sweet, tender and intimate. It covers all your emotions and just really draws you in.

When you see Henry’s actions in the eyes of his family it is enough to make you angry but Nicole Jacquelyn gave us the gift of his view before his families so we get to see his thoughts and what was going on with him. Yes what he did was cruddy but you understand or can try to and do have to give him props for realizing it and making provisions no matter what for Etta.

Trevor is amazeballs. He is kind, sweet, tender, gentle, loyal and all around amazing. He has patience and understanding. You can see why he was angry at his brother but also still had compassion and understanding. I loved how he handled his mom from the middle of the book on. He stood up for himself and his feelings he owned. He loves his mom but also realized that he needed to live his life and stay true to his heart. I hated that he was in the position he was because of his mom at one point because he was trying to do what was best for everyone and he didn’t think of his own feelings in it all only everyone else.

Morgan was stubborn and strong willed. She was a good character but kept people at a distance. I really got frustrated with how she treated Trevor. That boy guy was on a roller coaster at times and didn’t know where he stood. Morgan held all the cards because of Etta and it was hard at times to see this. She was a good person but let her past childhood and her distrust of people come into her relationship with Trevor at times. He was the one hurt the most by Morgan and his mother’s actions. Morgan didn’t let others help him due to her past but also because she didn’t want to feel beholden to anyone. She would keep him at a distance and yet when needing someone turned to him. Her sister in trouble we call Trevor and he is there for her and her sister. It was hard to see this happen and that is where the frustration was because she really was toying with his emotions and heart even if that wasn’t the intention.

The story is interesting. WE have a woman in Morgan who was affected deeply by her childhood and she meets up with someone from that time. They have a good time and an unexpected happy surprise happens-Etta. The precious girl has you loving her from the beginning. Her and Trevor together melts the heart. His family gets a surprise when they learn of Etta and this is where the story gets its heart. We see his family struggle to come to terms with things at first but also want Etta in their life. It is a balance to do and Trevor is the one to begin this bridge. ONly he is deeply attracted to Morgan. Trevor starts an amazing relationship with Etta as well. He is great with children. Morgan though does have fears that combine with her wanting Etta to know Henry’s family. She feels attracted to Trevor and tries to keep this out of the equation. She is distant to him at first. Slowly the attraction does become a factor but she also learns to trust Trevor. We see his family get to know Etta but Trevor’s mom is having some unresolved feelings about Henry and the situation and things do get muddy. Meantime Trevor is on eggshells with everyone and is being pulled in all different ways. He snaps after he helps Morgan even after she is distant towards him and than needs him but still tries to stay distant and his mom decides to let him know how she feels. I felt for Trevor at this point. Morgan goes back to her protect myself mode and Trevor is left in the dark in so many ways. Poor guy he is the one you just feel for this whole book. Him and Etta for she is just a kid. There is a happy ending but it takes alot to get to it and the journey is emotional.

The writing draws you in as do the characters. The family bond is beautiful in this story as is the loyalty and kindness. We see a family dealing with loss and anger but in a situation they didn’t expect but makes them happy. ONe family member feeling guilt, trying to not give into his feelings but falling in love and trying to keep everyone happy and eventually do what he needs to for himself and his well being. A woman who has fear and has the journey of letting someone in and trusting them and opening up her heart and falling in love. A little girl who captures your heart and a story that does as well.

I enjoyed this romance. I appreciated the diversity in the characters. The family dynamics were more interesting than the romance. I am very curious about the previous books and will pick them up in the future. Thanks Forever (Grand Central) Publishing for the ARC of this title via NetGalley.

I was interested in this book even though I detested the hero from book one. I enjoyed this book a lot better. I LOVE secret baby and I think this is secret baby adjacent. I didn't recall the hero being black. I think the representation on this was middle of the road, it wasn't terrible and offensive, but also there wasn't a lot of it.

Overall it was a good read. I was invested in the love story. I thought the pacing was solid. I wasn't sold on the mom as the villain, but understood why it was like that.

I honestly don’t know how to write this review. I’ve been a BIG fan of this series. I loved “Unbreak My Heart” and “Change of Heart” by this author but sadly this book fell flat for me and I didn’t have the same angsty and emotional reaction while I was reading.

I liked Trevor, he was a sweetheart and such a good guy but he could be too nice at times. Kinda a pushover and that gets old quick. Shane and Bram (from the other books) are a little more alpha and I think that’s why I enjoyed the stories better.

Morgan at times got on my nerves with her back and forth but I could understand her hesitation. This is definitely a taboo relationship and a lot could be at stake if it goes wrong. Then we have Ellie, Trevor’s mother who was a complete nightmare in this story. She really disappointed me with her actions and if I was Morgan I wouldn’t have been that forgiving.

I had a very hard time feeling the connection between the characters. I don’t know if it’s because they spent some time apart and we were told about their relationship and not see it fully developed? They really didn’t have that much of a history like the other couples. I’m not sure what it was but something just felt off about Trevor and Morgan. Trevor in my opinion caught feelings way too soon for a woman he barley knew. This was a nicely written story but sadly it just didn’t suck me in like the other books did. I didn’t hate the book but it’s not my favorite of the series.

Nicole Jacquelyn is a wonderful writer and I will continue along with this series. I’m hoping the next book will be about Alex!

The writing style was easy to read and lovely, but the story itself was average. I've greatly enjoyed previous books in the series. Henry was kind of an idiot, and I was pretty frustrated with him the entire book. Morgan and Trevor were sweet, but in an inevitable kind of way, not in a will they or won't they way.

I was completely lured in by the cover and the premise of the story. I had never read author Nicole Jacquelyn before and I decided going into this one without reading the previous two. First things, this works perfect as a standalone I was not lost at all in the dynamics of the family or anything. So that was a plus. But ultimately, this book didn’t endear itself to me. It wasn’t good or bad it was just plain ol’ boring.

HEART OF GLASS is the story of Morgan who has always been a single mother after her “not quite boyfriend” got her pregnant and didn’t really want to be a father. He never told his family about the baby but left a life insurance policy in her name just in case. Worst case scenario happened and he was killed and now Henry’s family wants to get to know that last little pieces of Henry left in the world.

I thought this would be an interesting and emotional journey because there are a lot of heavy issues to deal with. Instead it was all a bit lackluster. The development of the romantic relationship was slow burn at the same time boring. I didn’t really buy into the romance and then all of a sudden things got physical. Let me tell you, it’s been a while since I’ve been shocked by a couple having sex for the first time but it just felt so off here that I couldn’t help but think the author had a checklist saying sex for the first time in chapter whatever it was and she had to fit it in.

On another note, I also found the grief for someone dying was not really talked about much. I thought this could’ve been explored better and from a lot of different angles.

I don’t think I’ll be continuing with this series, nor reading back to the others. It’s a shame for me because it’s all about a family that fostered a lot of children and they grew up very close so I thought the concept was interesting. But I didn’t really care enough for the rest of the family either to want to see their HEAs.

Henry knew from the start that he was not meant to be a father and the best he could do while on duty in the marines is to make sure that child is at least taken care should he die. So imagine his families surprise when they find out that he had a child he never told them about. Trevor his brother wanted to meet this surprise family member and maybe even get the family to meet her. He wasn't planning on Morgan the single mother working her best to make sure the child is cared for. Things get complicated when it seems both of them are having feelings towards each other.

Its the summer and I'm all about contemporary romances and this book just did it for me. One I sat down to read this book I didn't end up leaving that couch for several hours. I just couldn't help myself it as such a good book. I loved getting to know these character and seeing where they were coming at when it came to particular situations. I loved seeing that romance between the two. I loved getting to read how Etta was doing with her fathers side of the family now that they were in her life. There was enough drama and romance to keep the readers hooked and I recommend you lovely readers to check this book out.

Nicole Jacquelyn is a fairly new-to-me author. I read book 2 in her Fostering Love series, Change of Heart. When I was given the opportunity to read Heart of Glass, I jumped because the second book was soooo good. I intend to go back and read book one, Unbreak My Heart. Obviously, these books do standalone, but characters are definitely interconnected.

Nicole has created at very unique family dynamic of siblings and cousins that were adopted or fostered who sometimes find love in each other. This is Trevor's Story. We Trevor in book 2, but in this book we really see that he is the oldest brother who wants to keep everyone happy and is a mama's boy. Trevor is Bram and Ani's cousin.

We actually find out that Henry dies in action in book 2 and learn that he has a baby that he never told his family about. Trevor has volunteered to go meet Henry's daughter, Etta and her mother, Morgan.  This book is set up to be able to follow that story line whether all the books are read or not, but this late in the game, I think at least reading the second book prior to this one would help just because it's a big family with adoptions and fostering and it can be tough to keep track of the "kids." As Trevor builds a relationship with Morgan and Etta in hopes of keeping his side of the family in touch with Henry's daughter, he gets a lot more than he bargained for. He and Morgan have a quick attraction and friendship that builds into much more.

I have had a really hard time with this review because I just needed so much more with this book. I needed more from Henry. I needed more about Henry. I needed more from Morgan's perception of Henry. To me, this book should have been every bit Henry's story as it was Trevor's because there really is so much mourning and grief in this book that just falls so short. That grief is seen with their mother, Ellie, but I needed even more from her even if she was a little unbearable.

I can only hope the next book picks up that momentum and angst I felt in the last book. This is a very loving and doting family, and I can't wait to see who we get to read about next.

I have been so anxious for another brook from this author. Nicole Jacquelyn has become a one-click author for me. Heart of Glass is another must read and I absolutely loved it. I am so glad we get Trevor’s story.

Our two main characters Trevor and Morgan are no strangers to loss. Trevor learns that his foster brother Henry had a child. He decides he needs to meet the child and try and be a part of their life.

Morgan is a single mom doing the best she can to raise her child. She never expected for Trevor to come into their lives. The connection between the two is instant, while their romance was more of a slow burn.

This book was a little different than the other book in the series when it came to angst. It had all feels and I couldn’t put it down. I love this series and highly recommend it.

I confess that I took this book because I fell in love with the synopsis, I love stories involving single parents, and this cover totally conquered me.
Trevor has not yet fully accepted the death of his brother, much less the idea that he has a daughter who never introduced to the family.
Morgan takes care of her daughter herself and has a strong sense of protection with her younger sister too.
She is a suffering person who ended up closing her heart to people and has a serious problem of trust.
Although I initially liked the way she, Etta and Trevor connected instantly, the question of her lack of trust ended up locking my connection with the couple, leaving the reading both monotonous, slow, and tiresome at some moments.

Thanks to Trevor who turned out to be a Prince Charming from the beginning and a true warrior when needed that I did not give up reading

After I requested a copy of Heart Of Glass by Nicole Jacquelyn from Netgalley, I was a nonstop sitting on the edge of my seat and waiting for approval mode. Heart Of Glass is the third book in the Fostering Love series. The first book caused me to cry endless tears, the second book had me loving and laughing at the endless banter between the main character, so honestly I had no idea which emotional journey Heart Of Glass would take me on.

This is Trevor's story. As you may know and for those who don't know. Trevor is one of Ellie and Mike's adopted sons. In Heart Of Glass Trevor is described as a mama's boy. He'll do anything to put a smile on Ellie's face and anything that will make Mike proud of him.

Because this novel is told in two point of views, we also have Morgan's story. Morgan is a single mother of Henrietta (Etta). She's as stubborn as a mule when it comes to letting other people helping her. She has pride in her independence.

When tragedy strikes, secrets are exposed and lines are crossed.

First off, let me start off by saying, I adored the first two books in the series. I loved the endless passion and I loved the emotional connections. So it's kills me to say, I didn't really care for this third novel. I felt the spark between the couples in the first two books lit the pages on fire, where as this book the spark kind of fizzled out. There was too much back and forth between Trevor and Morgan, which made Morgan seem kind of flakey. I also didn't like the way she was with her daughter. She was a great mom, but a little to testy when Etta would succumb to the terrible two syndrome.

I'm picky when it comes to single mother's in novels. I expect strength and maternal instincts from these characters. I come to look forward to the moments where the mother wants to break down but she know she can't because she has little eyes on her. The moments it shows true strength at its strongest. Sadly, I felt Morgan's constant reminder of independence overshadowed that strength.

On a positive note, I adored Trevor! I loved his mindfulness to Morgan and Etta's needs. I loved the way he was with his mom and the way he treated and doted on Etta. But, I would have loved a little bit more of Trevor's background.

Overall, It pains me to say I wanted to love this book, however it just didn't happen for me. I needed more depth from the characters and more story instead of wishy-washy moments. I felt at times the novel jumped off topic and focused on the supporting characters when it should have stuck to the true story of Trevor, Morgan, and Etta. There were several moments I wanted to DNF this novel, but I chose not to simply for the fact of Trevor and Etta. I loved their bond.

hate to say but I didn’t really care for this at all. The story was really flat. To be honest I thought Trevor was boring. Morgan was just not interested in anyone in her life. I thought she was really cold. I have read closed off characters before but usually there is a little warmth hidden in there. I did not feel it with Morgan. I wasn’t sold on the love story either. Were they really in love? I didn’t get it.

I know I should feel bad for Ellie but her actions were getting to be too much. I thought for sure she was going to kidnap her grandbaby that is how odd she was acting. I would have liked a heartfelt talk between Morgan and Ellie so she could clear up her relationship with Henry. They did talk but nothing was really said. Bottom line, this book had the potential to dig deep into some really hard topics. In the end it really lacked warmth.

The side story with Morgan’s sister was a little interesting but I am not sure I would pick up her book if she had one. I thought little Etta was adorable and it was nice to catch up with the other couples.

DNF at 23%....that's not very far in, is it!!?? It's not. *Hangs head in shame.* If I DNF'd it, why am I rating it? Simply for the writing style alone. The story itself could be really good. I love the sound of it. I love the idea behind it. I love forbidden and crave that aspect of it. But the writing itself did not work for me.

I tried. I really really tried and it just sucks that I feel this way, but this book was ridiculously repetitive and long winded. I really felt like I was standing still and the story could have been moving by this point. When I put the book down, go do something, then try to go back to it....and actually dread it, I know it's time to put it down.

So I did....

But then I went back and tried one.more.time, I ended up skimming a tad, yep - still repetitive, still annoying. I knew at that point I needed to chalk it up as a loss and be done. I think part of the reason why I was impatient for this one was the OTT anger the family had for Henry. Even though I understood their background and reasoning, the constant complaining about it wore me out. I just wanted to say, "Move along - we get it. Let's keep the story moving!!"

On top of that, Trevor was a little too soft for me. Just too.....soft. Ugh. I'm not saying every man has to be an alpha-billy-badass, because that's not how I feel, but this one was just on --> that side of my soft-meter.

I had a little issue with the life insurance/her finances situation, and that made me roll my eyes a little too hard. I think I was already done by that point and knew that anything that happened that was easily fixed or there was a solution would have not worked as a stubborn person, just an annoying chance for drama that was unnecessary for me. It just left a bad taste in my mouth. Not fair, but I think that's just how it got lead up to it.

So, as much hype as I'd heard about this author's writing, I was super excited to jump into this book but I'm so sad to be setting it down for good. Frustrated even. This is the third book in the series, but the story itself was easy to follow and was considered a standalone. It was definitely understandable and not hard to follow, so kudos for that part of it. The story itself wasn't even bad, and I really wanted to read it and see how it all came together, but when I find myself skimming this early just to get to a spot that's more interesting with less repeating, it is a telling sign. <sigh>

I am a huge fan of the Fostering Love series by Nicole Jacquelyn. I loved, absolutely loved Unbreak My Heart, the first book in the series and have read the eBook and listened to the audio several times since it was published. Heart of Glass, the third book in the series, was just as emotional, full of angst and tugged at my heart. I devoured it in one sitting, reading late into the night.

Though each book can technically be read as standalones, reading them in order gives you an overview of all the characters and lead into Trevor’s story. Trevor is devastated at losing his brother but is also so angry at Henry for never telling his family about his daughter. Especially with how strong and united this family is. Now they want to know Henry’s daughter, but will her mother let them be a part of her life?

Morgan Riley has always known she could only count on herself. After losing their mother, living with foster families and then struggling to build a life with her father and sister, she knows this better than anyone. But when Trevor comes to her door, she remembers him and his family and knows they mean well. But can she trust them with her daughter Etta?

As Morgan and Trevor begin to get to know each other and build some sort of trust, they cannot deny the attraction they feel for each other. But with Henry between them, can they truly have a future together? Trevor never thought he would meet anyone that would make him want more and Morgan is terrified to let anyone in. Where does this leave them?

Heart of Glass was full of angst, but similar to the previous two books, it was about family, love and hope, with a touch of the forbidden. Could Morgan and Trevor find a middle ground to build a foundation? A must-read as part of this series for sure!

4.5 stars. Read and reviewed for Sultry Sirens Book Blog.

Happy reading!
