Praying the Prayers of the Bible for Kids is a wonderful resource which gives me a starting point for praying together with my children. I love resources like this and tend to collect them, so I was great to be given a copy to review, thanks to Netgalley. That aside, this is a great guiding resource if you are just starting to pray with your kids or need some guidance on using scripture to pray with and over your kids. It rhymes, is organized by category, and is a beautiful edition. The downside is that the copy I received was an e-book, and books like these are best when as a physical copy. I highly recommend having a physical copy as it is more accessible, and you can see clearly the beautiful, sweet illustrations alongside the prayers. What a positive way to nourish your children in God's word and teach them in life-giving prayer. Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for a copy to review.

This whimsical little book is an incredible resource for parents who want to teach their children how to use scripture to pray powerful prayers. The illustrations are delightful and engaging.

This would make a beautiful gift and is a perfect addition to any child's nightstand!

The publisher provided an ARC through Netgalley. I have voluntarily decided to read and review, giving my personal opinions and thoughts

This is such a good book! A great example of how to use scripture in your prayer life and how to explain that to your children! Such a valuable tool for those who need it.

I've struggled with helping my granddaughter learn to pray. This book is very helpful is guiding parents, grandparents and guardians inn teaching children how to pray while also helping us adults get back to praying the Word and getting back to the basics of prayer.

Oh my, what a great children's book! It is more theologically deep and accurate than most adult Christian content on the market today! I so look forward to buying this book for my own kids and reading it to them. I need the reminders here for myself! The prayers are divided up into 5 categories of prayers: Loving God, Thanking Him, Friendship, Recieving Help, and Blessings, though the content is broader than sticking only to those specific ideas but also related ideas. For example in the Blessings section a verse and prayer talks about contentment and appreciation for what you have, not the usual asking for more. Each prayer starts with a direct quote of a verse, then a rhyming poem in form of a prayer on that topic, then a task or related verse to conclude that entry. This really helps children understand many aspects of God, and even difficult concepts in simple terms and how to communicate with Him on their level. Delightful and surprising read!

My son and I really enjoyed this sweet little prayer book for children. I loved that the prayers were short so he didn’t lose focus and I also loved how they were tied not only to a theme, but also rooted in scripture with a verse attached. A wonderful prayer collection to add to your child’s library.

Daily prayer and meditation is necessary for a healthy and open relationship with God. Fostering and nurturing that behavior in young children is crucial to developing their Christian walk. This book is perfect for introducing and practicing an active prayer life. By blending cute rhymes and pictures with easy-to-remember Scripture passages, this book teaches kids many important lessons from the Bible. Perfect for daily devotions and bedtime readings.

There are a number of things that I like about this book: the accessible length, the verses chosen and the accompanying poems. From the descriptions listed in the advance copy I read it also looks like the illustrations will complement the text very well. What I did not like was the fact that several different versions were used for the Bible verse references. It would seem to me that a child would be more likely to store God's word in his or her heart if the same version read to them at home and in books like this.

A big thank you to Discovery House and NetGalley for a digital ARC of this new title.

One of my children has struggled with knowing what to pray. I have read every title I could find for children on prayer. This one sets itself apart in a couple of ways. First each prayer is drawn from a passage of Scripture. Second it demonstrates prayers of praise, a hard concept for my kids, better than any other resource I have seen.

My only quibble with this text is that some of the poem-prayers are so specific as to not be applicable to my children.

Author James Banks has written a wonderful book geared for four to eight year old children (although Amazon has this listed as 8-12 but I think anyone in those age ranges will enjoy it) but adults will love it as well. I did! The idea is to take short verses from the Bible and translate them into rhymes for kids to remember. Prayers are separated into five categories: Praise, Saying Thank You, Friendship and Faithfulness, Daily Needs and Blessings and are short enough to cater for the attention span of a young age whilst also being meaningful.

It is the sheer simplicity of the rhymes which catches the imagination and I found myself smiling and laughing at some of them and they reminded me of Jesus' own love for children and how he comes to them at their own level. That's the key for this book. It meets children at their own level and gives them a foundation to build from. I still remember Bible stories, hymns and rhymes from my own childhood and if an adult is willing to give the time to reading and praying with their kid/s this book could have the same effect.

Just one example:

Verse: "I love you LORD. You give me strength." Psalm 18:1

Rhyme: You keep me safe.
You make me strong.
You help me feel like I belong.
I love you God.
I know you're there.
Listening as I pray this prayer.

Different Bible versions are used presumably to bring out the best translation for children.

I liked that there is also teaching that sometimes children do things they know they shouldn't and that God doesn't always answer prayer when or as we would like and this is taught in a sensitive and understandable way. The emphasis throughout is on Jesus as a friend who is there for us no matter what.

As this is a pre-publication copy I am reviewing it on the prayers, Bible verse and instruction given. There are notes indicating that the final published version will include relevant illustrations but obviously I can't comment on them until I see them.

I can see scope for a series of these books dealing with more prayer topics. I have an autistic niece and couldn't help wondering how she would understand these prayers or even refugee children with little or no material possessions or friends. I think there is huge scope for more in this series. I used to conduct services in churches and wish I'd had this resource back then!

Thoroughly recommended and I will be buying a copy when released. I found myself reciting and even thinking up my own rhymes after I'd closed the book. It's quite addictive! It'd be a great activity for kids to come up with their own rhymes as well.

Thanks to NetGalley and Discovery House Publishers for an advance copy for review purposes. I will also post to Goodreads and Amazon.

Praying the Prayers of the Bible for kids is a fantastic collection of scriptural prayers that flow well and apply to the everyday life of most people, especially for kids. With categories like Praise and Gratitude, Friendship and Daily Needs… I thoroughly enjoyed reading this, and I believe it teaches prayer as a natural outpouring through your day. Practical and wonderful.
I received a very advanced digital copy from NetGalley, which did not include illustrations, though the descriptions of them sounded very good

Praying the Prayers of the Bible for Kids
Every night my boys, 7 and 3, snuggle in bed and do our devotions and pray. Our devotions have ranged from reading their Bibles to reading a kid’s devotional book. I have been following up with praying myself, however, was looking for ways to engage the boys in prayer as well. My 7-year-old recently asked Jesus into his heart and we’ve been talking a lot about prayer. I was really looking forward to this book to be of help in teaching him what prayer means. I think this book is a great book of short and simple prayers. Not simple in meaning, but easy to remember and pray. Most of them were too kiddy for my 7-year-old to appreciate. On the other hand, these were perfect for my 3-year-old. The concepts were good but the wording with rhyming made it too childish for my 7 year old’s interest. I would say this book is better suited for 3-5-year old’s. I think the prayers themes were appropriate for kids. I liked the verses along the way to help keep Gods word relevant with the prayers. The verses were short and easy enough to remember as a memory verse. To me, that was the best part because learning Gods Word and putting it in your heart keeps you close to him in all situations. I want my boys to have His Word as a quick and close resource in their life. Overall I would recommend this book if you have a young child looking to start praying and memorizing scripture. It would be a great book to gift as well.

I liked how the prayers and bible verses are short so that a child doesn't lose attention. I think this would be perfect for bed time to relax the child. Thank you NetGalley and Discovery House Publishers for the ARC copy of this book. The opinions in this review are my own.

Using different Bible versions, for a kid friendly translation of God's Word, "Praying the Prayers of the Bible for Kids" is a book you'll looked forward to reading every morning and every night. Great to start of mornings with and soothing to end the day with. When it comes to praying: to worship, for reassurance, to give thanks, for direction - this book will deliver a little something for all the little ones.
Highly recommended, for kids with a second grade reading level - starting at the age of 6.

If you are looking for a child friendly book to help you explore prayer then this provides some helpful prayers written as poetry. Bible references underpin short narratives that prompt thought, and action.
Some themes are repeated which helps reitteration of God's love, and His ominipresence.
I am not able to comment on illustrations or layout.

A wonderful introduction to the Bible and prayers for children. I shared this with my eight year old grandson, he was able to understand the scripture and how the prayers tied into the quick lesson. Each prayers and scripture held his attention without him loosing focus or becoming bored or frustration. I recommend this to any parent who would like an introduction to scripture and prayer for their children.

This ARC book was complimentary, provided by the Publisher and NetGalley. I am voluntarily providing my honest review.
