Thank you for the opportunity to read this book. Unfortunately, I was unable to get into it. The stories were a bit too shallow for my taste- maybe the short form just isn't for me. I will not post a review on Goodreads so as not to skew. the ratings.

What a nice collection of novellas! Each story was different which I liked. While I thought some of the romances were rushed, they were still enjoyable to read. My favorite story is the 1st one, One Little Prayer, it had the best and sweetest story. I liked that the heroine daughter played a role in her mother and the wounded soldier she found in the woods romance. Nonetheless, all of the stories were nice.

Not my favorite collection so far, but worth a read if you're into these sort of stories. Writing is decent and all the stories were different enough to be enjoyable together.

Interesting mix of stories as varied as areas and types of farming. Strong people trying to make it on their own, learning how much Christian faith means in their lives. A man who is wounded and found, single parents hoping to adopt from an Orphan train, a relocating sister who learns from a neighbor that she has a nephew to raise, a Romeo and Juliet situation devised by caring fathers, a woman who loses her father unexpectedly and has to learn how to run a business, and a young woman who marries her best friend but doesn’t love him. Excellent enforcement of Christian values. I just wished that each story had been longer!

This was given to me my Netgalley. I gave an honest review based on my opinion of what I read.

Love is in season as you journey into rural America’s history and witness the harvest of romance through six delightful stories. From Minnesota to Florida, New York to Kansas, and Ohio to Louisiana, heroic men and women make sacrifices in order to create a home, nurture the crops, and secure a future for the next generation, but sometimes romance is almost an afterthought. Can love also grow down on the farm?

Each love story has a different plot and deals with everyday challenges and how God and their love for one another brought the characters together and formed their future. I enjoyed these collections of short stories very much.

One Little Prayer--Louanne thinks that her prayers for a father have been answered when she finds a strange man shot in the woods. Louanne is a bright girl, and she loves to read. Louanne's mother, Tessa, has a strong faith, and while she appreciates Louanne's efforts she knows that she can't marry someone who doesn't share her faith. A fun story with great elements of faith, and touches of humor. I really liked how Tessa is a strong woman of faith who raises her daughter in faith, and how James comes to enjoy spending time with Tessa and Louanne.

The Tie that Binds--When the Orphan Train comes through town, Frank and Emma both want to adopt a child, even though they are single. Emma is hesitant to go along with Frank's plan, as she doesn't even know him. But will God bring them together into the family of their dreams?

A Homesteader, Bride, and a Baby--Lorette is coming to visit her sister, but before she gets there her sister and her family die, except for the baby. The family that Lorette is working for doesn't want the baby around, so she moves out to the ranch. Chase is their nearest neighbor and he comes to check on them, and teaches her how to keep up the farm. But when the rumors begin to fly, Chase offers a solution.

The Applesauce War--Two scheming father's try to set up their children in the spirit of Shakespeare. Verity and Pete grew up on neighboring farms, but they have been away at school, they meet in town, and pray about their father's feud. Can love heal the rift between families?

Sunshine Harvest--Daniel comes to the Drake Citrus Farm to deliver the bad news of Mr. Drake's passing. Josephine and her mother are devastated by the news, Daniel does everything he can to help lighten the load, and friends from church come to help too.

New Beginnings--Betsy and Nicholas have known each other their whole lives, they marry and leave everything behind to have a farm of their own in Ohio. They work hard to make the farm a success befriending their neighbors, who encourage them in their faith and their marriage. A realistic look at a couple who doesn't marry for love, who fight to make a life farming in Ohio. One of my favorites.

This 6 novella collection is full of great faith--filled stories of farming couples, who face the challenges of marriage and love working the land. Previously released in 2013.

This delightful collection of six stories in one book is awesome! Each story is a different love story and deals with everyday challenges and how love and faith brought the characters together. The length of each story is perfect for a quick read. I would recommend this collection to anyone who loves romance, history and faith.....I received a complimentary book from Netgalley and the publisher and I am happy to leave a review.

Farming life was hard work. Having a partner to share the load made things easier. But Love didn't always figure into the occasion, at least at first. These 6 stories give you a chance to look back in history, to a time when America was growing as her farmers spread out and grew crops for a growing nation! Clean romances that will touch your heart, well worth the read!

6 great short stories. All with Christian themes. Each story has a farm theme as well. The short stories make for a quick read and a quick boost of faith!

A surprisingly good collection! I was expecting not to like this series as I thought that I had read too many farmer stories and they all seem the same. Well, not this group! These 6 stories were all very different! Some the farming part of the story was a minor aspect like in the first story, 2 others it was fruit trees instead of regular farming, one about the orphan train and it took place all over the place, not just the midwest! Really enjoyed these. Thanks for a delightful read!

This is a compilation of six fictional women set in the late 1800s and how they adapt to the rural life.. Despite the overarching romance theme in the collection, it seemed that the stories were about farming but the plot development revolved around the parent-child relations.

The strong female characters did not let the conservative societal norms of the time get them down. Readers will be immediately drawn in from the start with the opening story, A Little Prayer. Louanne (one of my personal favourite characters) will have readers (and fans of Anne of Green Gables) in stitches.

It is quite clear that these farmers' situations echo the importance of relying on the Lord especially in times when situations are out of your control. This is quite evident as they wholly dependent on the land for their livelihoods. Just like the other titles in the Barbour Brides Collection, the Farmer's Bride Collection a charming read and will definitely have you laughing and crying all at the same time.

The Farmer's Bride is a collection of several short stories in one book.I always find it hard to rate this kind of book because some stories naturally appeal more than others.Taking that into account I chose to rate the book a four out of a possible five.Definitely worth the time.

What a great book! I loved each one! Each author had her own writing style but they all made me laugh or cry or smile! I can’t wait to look for individual titles by the authors! Enjoy!

The Farmer’s Bride by various author’s is a collection of six stories set in the late 1800 and early 1900’s. Some of the brides have lived on farms for some time; others have never lived on a farm and aren’t sure they want to live the hard life of depending on the land and weather to be successful.
I really liked this book. The stories are a nice length and can be read quickly in one or two sittings. The stories are all independent of each other and could be read in any order. I found all of the characters to be realistic in their concerns and actions. Each bride, groom and couple must learn to trust God in some way. Some are believers from the beginning, some are not and some are angry with God. Each story kept me engaged in the plot. Parts of each story are very serious and other parts are laugh out loud funny. I give this book a solid 5 of 5 stars. I believe it will appeal to all who enjoy Christian romance; it would make a great gift.

I very much enjoyed this collection of short stories. Every story in this collection was well-written and interesting. All of them were heartwarming. (I especially loved the storyline of “The Appleauce War”. It’s guaranteed to make you smile.) Each story had interesting characters and settings.

This collection of clean, sweet stories is just the book for when you want something shorter and lighter to read.
