Bonjour Girl tells the story of Clementine, an aspiring fashion designer and blogger. It’s a fun and fluffy read, if a bit predictable. Clementine is supposed to be from France, and I wish it felt a bit more multicultural.

This was written very poorly. I did not enjoy this. I really wanted to like this!! Adorable cover and nice description, but it fell flat:(

This book felt very cliched and I couldn't relate to the main character at all as she just wasn't very realistic. The writing style I also couldn't warm to, it felt more like it was telling rather than showing.
I DNF'd half way through.

I so wanted to like this book, I really did. I lived in Paris and I craved for something that would take me back to that special time.. instead, I felt a little cheated.

The protagonist was a little snobby, and I didn't really care for her. She had little french in her, more like an french-wanna-be.
The other characters as well, nothing really outstanding from the cliche.

What I did like however, was the fashion. All the details about everyone and everything was really interesting. I did enjoy it.

Perhaps if I was younger, this would be a great book for me.

This book was so promising and so dissapointing at the same time. I love books set in college but I genuily think this book would bennefit from being set in high school because the characters were so fucking immature and juvenile that I just can't believe someone actually was okay with letting this be in a college setting. All the drama in this book also just felt very high school. This is a book about bullying but the only bullying that really happens are 3 tweets, from which we don't even get to see one. The other two weren't even that bad. We also never really got to see any consequences that these tweets had. We were told over and over again that they were life ruining and there was even talk about taking legal action but we don't actually get to see any consequences it actually has. The main character jumped to conclusion so fucking quickly and made a big deal out of the smallest things. The supporting cast kept encouraging her however and even called her "mature" and "the bigger person". She was the complete oppesite of that though. It was just very; very infuriating. Besides all that everything just seemed to come VERY easily to the main characters, which was espeically annoying because the entire book we kept going on and on about how hard this school they're at is and how competitve their world is and yada yada. The author told us a lot but showed us the opposite every single time. Besides that we have a VERY annoying case of insta love, which like ... I was expecting to result into something drama because it just all happened so quickly and we were warned a lot about how relationships aren't a good idea but nothing really happened. Yeah, this was not my favourite book at all. Sadly enough I have the second book as well from Netgalley, so I'll have to continue on. Hoppefully, that one will be a little bit better. I mean, it can hardly get any worse.

I had high hopes from this book but it just wasn't for me. reasons:
- unrealistic characters
- unreleatable and unsympathetic main character, no character growth
- missed attempt at cyberbullying
- Too cliched

This book had a lot of potential considering the story references of Mean Girls, but it just landed flat.

This book was intense with bullying. It was well written and I loved seeing each character stand up for what is right not what is easy. Bullying has taken an intense turn from picking on people to ruining their lives and this is an important read for anyone dealing with cyber bullying.

Clementine is French/Chinese and comes from a very successful line of women in the entertainment industry who goes to NYC. She grows up believing a girl can do anything and she wants to be a fashion designer. She gets accepted to an elite fashion school and moves in with her cousin Maddie. She immediately makes friends and her cousin introduces her to Jonathan, a cute photographer, for help with her designs of course.

Clem shares her blog, Bonjour Girl, with her friends and they love it. She then makes it public. Only once she does the cyber bullying begins. Her fellow students do not want to see her succeed. As the bullying ramps up her designs start going missing. Luckily Jonathan gets involved and helps her get in touch with his lawyer.

I just couldn't root for the main character. She seemed shallow and the plot lacking. I couldn't like this, but it's the sort of book you read to make sure you get more reasons not to like it.

Hii!

I loved how the book took place within the fashion world and following Clementine as she attends fashion school. I felt like the pacing was a little off but am glad it tackled the topic of bullying.

The Devil Wears Prada prepared you for the cutthroat world of the Fashion Industry...but did you ever stop to think where those same people got their start?

Clementine Liu knows all too well about the fans and fanatics, the competition and those that will go to the extreme to get what they want...and she's only in college. Yeah, college! Grant it, it IS the school to end all school's when it comes to wanting access to the best of the best in the industry, but really...MUST we sharpen our nails on the backs of our classmates? Apparently for some the answer is YES...and now Clementine has to find a way to not only rescue her reputation, but her self-confidence, if she's to rise to the top and become the superstar we all know she can be. Good thing she has a few confidants to lean on, and the sound advice of family long since living...

I adored Clementine for all her quirkiness, for her ability to BE HERSELF even in the face of adversity (or hoards of black, gray, and white clad New Yorker students), and her desire to say true to her inner compass even when things seem to be spiraling out of control. Now she has a moment of two where a lapse in judgment or an overly kind heart took her away from the proverbial runway, but NOBODY'S PERFECT and sometimes those alterations are the only way to create the grand masterpieces we're meant to become. With her spunk, and spirit, she's gonna go far...even with the haters harassing her...and that big heart of hers shines so brightly, the friends, and relationships she gathers are truly meant to be. I would love to see her site in real life because her goal, her message was all about diversity, and bringing a voice to the creator that is doing BIG THINGS, but getting a bit lost in the shuffle. She even lends that spotlight to her friends which endears them even more to her and her cause, thus allowing the pay it forward principle to march on. In short, SO much to love here! Now for a little cutting room maintenance...

For me, there were only two drawbacks. First is certainly all a matter of opinion (and perhaps my eARC edition as well), the cyberbullying. I know, it's DEFINITELY a thing nowadays and its reach is worldwide thanks to the net, but the two I was actually able to read in the book, I didn't really think much of. I mean, I get it...no one wants to be talked about especially in a negative light, but Clementine seemed like such a STRONGER characters than that. To let some measly little comment stake her versus roll off her back seemed beneath her...but again, it's all a perspective issue. To her, it was the end of the earth; to me, I say walk away, let it go, and follow Celeste's advice. Second thing...I was always waiting for the other shoe to drop. Color me cynical, but there was a lot that just seemed to come up roses for our girl. Issues at home...new school acceptance accross the pond! End of a disasterous relationship...BOOM perfectly lovely male specimen that ACTUALLY seems genuine! Lack of friends...instafriend...with a hiccup or two to keep things interesting! I'm not saying she didn't have her obstacles to face...hello uber version of MEAN GIRLS...but her life definitely wasn't just the thorns of the bush.

All in all, I enjoyed my time with "Fashion Week" a lot more than I thought I would. The characters were fresh, the diversity plentiful, the surprises forthcoming, and the payback oh so sweet. Definite recommend for Young Adult fans of all ages!

I really loved this story and all it’s characters. Clementine and Jake are two strong forces of nature!!! Ellie is someone who takes the whole story to reveal her true self, and Stella is one you know all along about her intentions. Every character is extremely dynamic and there are real life tribulations they encounter and overcome. Thank you to Net Galley for this book in exchange for my honest review.

This was a cute summer read. I like the passion that these characters have for fashion. I'm not a fashion person, but I like stories that are set in the fashion world because it's always filled with drama and this story is filled with drama! I like how this book does talk about online abuse, I feel that in today's world it's a topic that really needs more light shined onto it. I found some parts that made me want to yell at these characters. This is a cheesy, New York City, romance book, but that's always fun to read. If you're looking for a light-heated, fashion drama, contemporary; then this is a read for you.

This book is pretty much everything I dislike about YA Contemporary Romances. It's cliche and annoying. While I can see teen readers possibly enjoying it, it's grating for older readers.

I liked the stories about fashion, but this book was okay. The selection of characters were decent and overall plot was fair. Overall, not the book that I expected to be, although it was all right.

This is a fun little story, great for those interested in fashion. However, this is incredibly juvenile, could have done without the romance, and took me an age to read.

Provided by Netgalley in return for an honest review!

This was one of those books that weren't bad at all, but just was not my cup of tea - and I love so many varieties of tea... I wish I liked it because the potential was there. So, please don't knock it before trying it yourself.

The writing is practical and easy to follow. The instant friendship and enemy thing did not work, there was no imminent reason for either and grated on my nerves. The obvious stereotypes listed almost immediately did nothing for the story.

Clementine is written as a bit of a shallow girl, having everything fall into her lap because of the disastrous family background she has. And Jake is the stereotypical gay best friend in the fashion industry, who loves her one minute and hates her the next because something fortunate happened for her.

I understand that this is a fashion based story, but the emphasis on every single outfit got boring quite fast to me.

And the perfectly flawless gut that does no wrong? How cliche...

Clementine/Clem is a French/Chinese young woman who had grown up in France. She grew up believing a girl can be anything. Clem wants to be a fashion designer. Chloe got accepted in Parsons School Of Design in New York. Clem goes to the states and moves in with her cousin Maddie. Maddie introduced Clem to Jonathan who is a hot photographer who can help her with design. Clem starts seeing Jonathan. Clem meets Stella a fellow student at Parsons who like Clem likes color in clothing unlike most- so it seems anyway- of the other students at Parsons. She also meets Jake who stands up for Clem when someone is mean to her. Clem does a blog called Bonjour Girl and goes public with it. But then she starts getting hate mail. Clem is getting cyber-bullied . Her fellow students do not want to see Clem succeed. Then her designs start to come up missing. Jonathan then gets involved.
This just wasn’t for me. I don’t feel there was much realism in this -other than maybe the cyber-bullying- and I do like some realism in a story. I felt the author did a good job in how she portrayed the cyber-bullying. I find it very hard to believe a nineteen year old fashion students would act so immature for ex putting gum in someone’s hair as far as I am concerned that’s elementary school behavior and annoyed me. I am also not a fan of insta/love more insta lust after a week if even that. I am sure that their are readers who will really enjoy this but it just wasn’t for me.
