LIES by T. M. Logan, makes you think extremely hard about what lies you're possibly living in your own marriage.
When one husband thinks his wife is having an affair with another man...well, how could he have gotten it so terribly wrong and be accused of his murder?
Shocking, heartbreaking and definitely thought provoking!
Solid Five Stars

In a split second every part of your life that you have known for 10 years is changed because of a single choice that you made and you are plunged full force into a nightmare that you cannot wake up from. This is how Joe; a happily married man feels in T.M. Logan’s latest novel “Lies”. Joe’s decision to surprise his wife leaves him feeling as if nothing in his world could ever be right again, and that is just the tip of the iceberg. Each day his life unravels a little more in this fantastic psychological thriller that is so filled with intrigue that the reader is guessing until the very end. I was given an advanced copy of this book, and all of the opinions expressed in this review are my own.

Lies was provided to me as an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Honestly, this book was excellent. It was fast paced. The characters were well written. I don’t want to give any spoilers so it is hard to go into detail. Just know this book kept me guessing throughout the story. Highly recommended.

This was a solid book with some interesting twists and turns. I can say that I was not expecting the ending. The main character, however, was so frustrating! He was obviously making all the wrong moves in his search for the truth. You could see all the traps he was falling into. I wanted to like him since he seemed to be a wholesome guy - great dad, loving husband - but he was not very smart!

This book was a little slow for me mostly due to the writing style however I have friends who I know would like it that I will recommend it to!

This was quite the page turner and has so many lies going on by so many characters that I found the one character who wasn't lying, was a bit pale in comparison.

I don't want to give away the major twists here but I can say that I found two of the main characters lying to be so extreme in their personalities and plight, that they verged into caricatures. Perhaps for me it was that even before their plot and involvement were revealed, they hadn't been rendered in such a remote and removed way that neither ever felt real. This is the saving grace of the compulsive page turner but in the final analysis, it left me a bit unsatisfied.

I also found that instead of feeling terribly sorry for our narrator, Joe, I was a bit annoyed by his not catching on to things sooner and being so easily led. In fairness, I allowed for some of it because it did make sense that one wants to believe the person closest to them but the extent to which this was taken with Joe was too far for me. There's a line between wide-eyed sap and willful fool turned tool. Joe's on the wrong side of that line for much of this story. I felt for him but I also disliked him for falling for so much and it felt to me that per the writing, I should root for and like him. On balance, he was the most likable of all but that's, to me, down to a lack of options by default not because it was earned.

I very much liked the takes on society's current relationship with social media and the technology used (and misused) to various ends (intended and unintended) that was covered here. I actually think that's where the story's overall strength really exists. I found that the things I most highlighted were in relation to Joe's revelations over time and in the end about this aspect of modern life. The point made about the value of face to face interactions and the importance of meaningful connections in the real world was well done and not rendered in a Luddite's fever. I loved what this book had to say about the convergence of what's real and what's manufactured for consumption and how it can not only be hurtful but worse, dangerous. While the shifting relationships and lies are the initial draw for the story, the cautionary tale lies in this secondary theme. This is the bit of the story that will remain with me.

While this was a bit of domestic thriller (per the book blurb/summary), it did feel a bit like something else in addition that I can't quite put my finger on (psychological social media thriller?). Recommended for users of social media everywhere. To the aware and judicious users who won't be shocked and shaken and to the users who just may stop and read those ToS for real next time before blithely clicking "Accept".

OH MY GOODNESS! This was a delicious rainy day read and I was completely captivated from beginning to end. Each chapter made my head spin as T.M. Logan just kept taking me deeper and deeper into a mystery that kept playing with my head. The less you know, the more enjoyable your read will be.So strap on the seatbelt and prepare yourself for a very bumpy ride.

I loved this book! I have not read, nor heard of the author T.M Logan before and I am grateful to Netgalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!
I was hooked from page one and had no clue of the direction this book would eventually take. I did not warm up to Mel at all though so I was happy that Joe didn’t have his head in the sand and was keeping his options open!
I would definitely recommend this book and am looking forward to his next!

"Lies" is an exciting psychological thriller.
Joe`s helplessness was almost tangible between the pages and a real nightmare for anyone using Facebook and the modern media.
Until the end, one puzzles and then ... wow ... absolutely unpredictable end.

I received an ARC from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This was a super entertaining take on the whole bait-and-switch thing that’s enfolded the psychological thriller genre for a while now, for what’s its worth, I couldn’t put this book down. Immensely readable, though the main character is a bit of a moron. Full review to be posted this week and this will be edited to include a link. Thank you for the opportunity!

I liked this one! The plot moved along at a good pace and the mystery kept me wanting to know more. The twists and turns kept it suspenseful and I liked the main character, Joe, and wanted to know he was okay. I was surprised at the ending, but thought the story was wrapped up very well. I look forward to reading others by this author.

I found this book hard to get into. I just didn't really find it that interesting. I give it a 2 star rating.

2 and 1 / 2 stars

Joe Lynch is in the car taking his young son home when his son William spots his mother’s car in a hotel parking lot. They decide to surprise her and go to see her. Won’t that be a nice surprise for his wife Mel?
They find her in the restaurant talking to a man that Joe knows. It is Ben Delaney who was married to one of Mel’s friends. They looked angry and argumentative. They retreat to the car to wait for Mel.
Mel doesn’t see Joe as she races out of the parking lot. Ben comes out of the elevator, verbally abuses Joe and they scuffle a little. Ben falls over and hits his head unconscious. William is watching, sees blood and has an asthma attack.

When he tries to talk about seeing Mel at the hotel, she lies to him and says she was playing tennis; the first lie. He lost his phone and his leather bracelet at the parking lot. His Facebook account shows a picture of his bracelet and a pool of blood and several comments. Obviously Ben has gotten a hold of both items. Joe’s world is in trouble. Things begin to get much worse for Joe.

Okay, I have to comment on Joe’s personality. While I admire his desire to spend as much time with William as he does and I applaud his devotion to the child, I could hardly stomach his wimpy personality. I wanted to yell at my Kindle, “Grow a pair, you dumkopf!” I could hardly finish the book for his annoying personality kept getting in the way.

I didn’t care for any of the characters in the book, except William. Mel was a lying little …ummm. Ben was childish and vindictive beyond measure and so on.

The book is written in the first person narrative style. It is well written, plotted and relatively easy to read and follow. I just didn’t care for it. Not my cup of tea, as some would say.

I want to thank NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for forwarding to me a copy of this book to read and review.

I was hooked right from the start! This book is fast-paced, suspenseful, and full of twists and turns that I never saw coming. The perfect summer read!

Joe is a gentle man who loves his wife, Mel, and his son, William, above all things. He is heartbroken when he discovers Mel's infidelity with Ben. Everything gets worse when Ben disappears and the police believe Joe killed him even though they cannot find the body. Will Joe be able to find Ben? Can Joe ever trust Mel again? What else has she lied about?

Readers will be rapidly turning the pages on this thriller - it is impossible to put down. Social media is a large part of the whole story with Joe always seeming to end up the injured party. How can he prove his innocence when everything that happens just makes him look more guilty?

All the characters play their parts to perfection. Many twists and turns with a stunning surprising ending.

I really wanted to like this book - it has all the qualities that I usually look for. But it missed the mark for me. She was so eager to lie, he was so eager to believe. But from there the action just seemed super cranked up compared to what he was trying to uncover. Which ... since I did receive this copy free from Netgalley in exchange for my honest review ... I honestly must confess I read the first 20% and skipped to the last chapter. I didn't feel like I missed anything and felt a little relieved at not being drug through it all.

Bummer.

This was an enjoyable read from this first book author. It did not involve a lot of suspense but for some reason kept my page turning. I book I would recommend to others.

Well, I can say that this book is aptly titled. It is truly all about lies, beginning with the obvious lie told to protagonist, Joe Lynch, by his wife, Mel, after he spots her in a hotel lobby meeting with a man they both know as a family friend. And it all goes downhill from there. Unfortunately, author T.M. Logan lost me right off the bat with the character of Joe. This man is the most obtuse, naïve, wimpy man on the planet, and I just couldn't buy into the premise that anyone with a brain would be so gullible, no matter how in love he might be. Adding to that, Joe is pursued throughout the novel by the police in the most ridiculous, unbelievable way. It was just way too over the top for me. I will say that the twist at the end surprised me, but by then I just didn't care.

Thanks to NetGalley for providing me with the ARC in return for an honest review. In fairness, it appears that Lies was published in the U.K. in 2017, and many, many reviewers loved it. Just not my cup of tea.

Joe Lynch sees his wife meeting a man at a local hotel. He tries to intercept her to learn what is going on but fears it is the worst. He and the man (Joe’s wife’s best friend’s husband) and they have a brief altercation in which the man ends up unconscious on the ground. Joe has to leave because his young son is having an asthma attack. He goes home to get Will’s meds and then returns to the hotel garage, but learns the man and his car are gone. This starts the novel. It is composed of lies and more lies and Joe’s attempts to learn the truth. It culminates in a climax very few will expect. It was captivating reading. Thanks to Net Galley and St. Martin’s Press for an ARC for an honest review.

Good suspense, and misdirection. It was a good book which I read in one sitting, I was hooked and had to know the ending.
